Everybody knows that when you have the opportunity to spend time with an industry superstar you take it.  I was fortunate enough to enjoy lunch with Jordan Adler last week.

The conversation was interesting and helpful.  Most people that are in love with our profession agree that no one has it figured out exactly but a lot of what we all do in our different teams and network marketing companies are following very much the same principles.

First let me say that Jordan is a great guy and person.  His personal story is humbling and inspiring.  He joined over ten companies during a ten year period before even sponsoring one person!  To hear the ups and downs from a person who’s team today adds 100 people per day easily is a real eye opener.

Jordan said something that you might be interested in hearing.  He said ” you can give a person the perfect simple system like we all use and they still will not be successful if they do not make the shift in their mind”.

He likened it to the movie “Karate Kid” where Daniel son made a shift of “letting go” during the final fight.  Jordan said ” you cannot teach the shift, but people must make it to reach their dreams”.

Other ways to label this intangible thing that he spoke of would be “project abundance” or “have the right attitude” or “have faith” or “expect good things” or “let go of your agenda” or “come from a place of abundance” or “let go”.  All of these sayings try to describe what happens in the heart and mind of a distributer that launches them towards a stream of success like Jordan has experienced.

I remember one day last year where I had fourteen leads/prospects call me in the same day.  My phone rang the last time at 11:00 p.m. and we sponsored four of them.  What did I do different that day?  The only thing I can think of was I had an extended prayer and personal development time.  Wow Jordan!  Just project abundance and make a shift?  Seems to be the key.

If you have never read Jordans book “Beach Money” I’d get it.  It’s Jordans story and all the profits go to charity.

I just returned from the Mastermind event in Houston Texas with Art Jonak and several others MLM industry giants and I can’t even begin to tell you how powerful it was. (just watch the videos posted on this blog)

While attending I was able to subscribe to an industry magazine that I had been planning to buy and I highly recommend you look into.  Most people that are serious about their networking business already know about it.  In fact I’ll probably put a link for it on the blogroll.  It’s called “networking times“ .

They have a printed version for about $88 for a 2 year subscription sent to your house.  I recommend the printed version.  I’ve read this magazine before and it’s been tremendously encouraging and provided much good material to help lead the team and just personal faith building in our profession.

The stories and articles in it are high caliber and could serve to fuel your fire while providing you with some great researched material from the greatest minds in network marketing today.

You’ve wondered why you’re in the network marketing industry.  You’ve ran one hundred miles an hour in one direction only to find out that there was a fence at the end of the pasture stopping your from reaching your dreams.  You ran the other way galloping quickly with the wind in your mane getting prospects and leads and product users only to find out that there was yet again another fence in your way.  What is missing to make my business work, you wonder?

So then you try online network marketing.  Otherwise known as a “funded proposal” or simply getting leads for your network marketing business online.  After a long period of spending lots of hard earned cash and charging up your credit cards you realize you aren’t even running anymore.  Your are completely stuck!  Your like this poor horse, head stuck in a tree.

Cheesy?  Yes.

But it paints a picture of reality for many people doesn’t it?  Maybe you.

After spending 2 years and thousands of hours and dollars I had an “ah ha” moment.  I realized that me and my downline were spending most of our time trying to figure out how to get people to talk to in this online MLM craze for our network marketing business and not hardly any time actually doing the things that make the business downline grow!  Things that help bring prospects to the point of decision.

So, we found a solution that helped us get past “stuck”.  It’s called a “2 Minute Story” and it allows you to get past the constant struggle of marketing and opens the doors to sorting through your prospects.  It can work for any company.

However even with this simple duplicable tool you can stay stuck if you don’t use it.  So, we found a solution to this problem.  It’s so simple you may roll your eyes and say “yeah right!”.  All we do to get past “stuck” by using our “2 Minute Story” tool is we tell somebody on our team that we are going to tell that story 10 times in the next 2 weeks.  Simple accountability!

There’s an old saying in our profession that goes “accountability and simplicity works”.  So if you need help getting past stuck, do me a favor?  Call me and ask me to tell you my “2 Minute Story” and I’ll only need 9 more people.  Meanwhile, you can adapt the story for your business!

Everyone that we tak to… do they want more money or less money?  More of course.  Then why don’t people join?

Because they don’t believe you or because they aren’t catching the vision of what you are trying to say to them.

We have learned that the “words” we use set off triggers in your prospects mind and they either receive what you say or they don’t.  One of the most helpful websites that we have come across is Tom Big Al Schreiters site.

Tom wrote an article called ” exclusion” or “inclusion” language.  Check it out here .

A great MLM leader once said “If you are getting objections then you aren’t doing it right”.  This advice might seem to go against what others say but I need to tell you that we do pretty good and never get objections.

A good book that will help you to understand is by Harry Browne called “Secrets to selling anything to Anyone”.  Go to www.harrybrowne.org to get that book.

We have learned that if we simply change our posture to that of a “servant” or a “consultation” and first learn what it is that a person wants… give it to them…. many of them will join you in your business IF you find out in your times talking to them HOW your company solves their problems.

How does one person speak to 10 prospects and sponsor 8 of them and another person can talk to the same exact prospects and only sponsor 1?

I had the answer perfectly illustrated to me this morning by my two year old daughter.  I could never figure out why Lydia would not say “I love you” or come running to give me hugs like our other daughter Abigail.  Until this morning as I stepped out of my home office that is attached to the back of our house and walked through the living room.

I had a thought, “Lydia has a secret language just like my prospects”.  I immediately stopped asking her for hugs and cuddles because she has always rejected that even though my other daughter really loves hugs and is motivated by “team” and “community”.  I know that 15% of my prospects are motivated by “fun”.  So I changed my tactics, I then said “hey Lydia!  You want to have some fun?”  She lit up and said yes! yes!.  Her response to me was exactly what I was looking for.

We then proceeded to dance and jump and spin in circles.  This little girl ( my prospecting lesson) just taught me the importance of speaking the correct language to my network marketing leads!

In case you are not aware of this there are 4 primary motivations for people.  They are team, fun, information, and prestige.  You can learn more about it on page 47 of the ebook posted at the top right corner of this blog.

If you will take care to practice identifying your clients primary motivation, you can then speak the language that gets them moving in the desired direction.  People motivated by fun do not understand the language of those motivated by prestige or information and so on.

How can you sponsor more people into your network marketing business?  The answer is pretty clear, speak their god-given secret language!

The other day we were talking to a guy from San Antonio that was just beginning his Network Marketing Business. David was real excited, but was looking to learn some skills, so we connected.

“A big reason he had joined the company was because a lot of people had been in the company for several years.”

He guessed if they did it for a lot of years they were probably making some money, or why would they stick around?

Then we got to thinking, and had to ask David; “Do you think that they can retire and still get paid?” David said; “That’s an interesting question,” how could I find out?

A lot of people never read their Policies & Procedures to find out if they have clauses that prevent retirement, or even taking those extended vacations. I’m not sure if that is important to you, but it is to us, so we have read our policies and procedures.

After reviewing the p and p’s he quickly learned that he could not retire, there was a sentence that said it all….. “Regardless of level of achievement, you have an ongoing responsibility to promote sales to build your business, personally sponsor new distributors, and maintain ongoing contact, and provide training with all people in your downline organization.”

It looks like there is a reason these nice people have been doing it for years, they CANNOT retire.

Now, do you think it’s important to read your policies and procedures? and, be careful the 1-3 page document is your terms and conditions, not the P&P’s.

So we gotta ask you again; Are You 99% Positive You Can Retire? What have YOU discovered?

Here is an update on the extra work load that I and five of my team members started back January 15, otherwise known as a “90 day run”.

It’s not over until April 15 but I have to say that we ‘ve had some pretty impressive results building our network marketing business.  The plan was really simple.  We just had a weekly accountability meeting and increased our plans each 30 days.

I must confess that distractions abound anytime you set out to reach a goal.  Even the most determined person will get tempted to turn away early or take a day or two off, especially after working their day job!

Here are some great things we’ve noticed with the five team members I chose to work with:

- One  team members goal was to know how our system works (Mentoring For Free) inside and out and to be “bullet proof” so that she can build her downline with skill, she far exceeded her expectations.

- We retailed more product

- We sampled more product than ever before

- People found network marketing leads that had never had much success before.

- I personally increased 3 pin levels and pay levels!

- We sponsored more people in the last 90 days than in the 90 days prior

- Team members that have never had much success calling their clients are now calling new team members clients

- Many of the team went from having 1 method for getting highly targeted leads for their business to having 3 or 4!

- Mindsets have shifted for some and great ground has been made in regards to treating their MLM as a business instead of a hobby

There’s much more if I were to sit here and think about it but isn’t that great?  I think so.  Most people would do just about anything to see their team grow like this and see the people they’ve sponsored getting into action.

I’ve got to be honest and say that I think I got distracted more than I’d like to admit but hey that leaves energy to do another run in about a month or two!
