“Yo hago mis entrevistas mirando a la cara a mis entrevistados”, le dije a River. Nunca me interesaron demasiado las palabras, siempre me fijé en las miradas. Las palabras dicen, las miradas hablan. Como periodista opté por dibujar personas y no personajes. El público idolatra a los personajes, yo les muestro lo que hay tras ellos.

- Pues o vienes a Nueva York o hacemos la entrevista por Skype. – Me contesta River. Mejor dicho, @RiverViiperi.

Sí, porque esta entrevista se cerró por Twitter y se realizó por Skype. Se agotaron los cauces habituales, su representante en Barcelona no me podía ofrecer otra cosa que no fuera la entrevista vía mail porque River Viiperi reside en Nueva York.

Un chico extrovertido, divertido [hace el payaso], un poco loco…Yo llego [a los castings] y empiezo a hacer bromas y como no tengo ni puta idea de hacer bromas en inglés… pues les resulto más gracioso aún. Yo hago el tonto. Llego allí, les suelto el book y cuando están mirando fotos les hago bromas, chorradas.

Así me cuenta, este chico de poco más de 19 años (Ibiza, 1991), que supera los muchos castings a los que se ha enfrentado.

Cuando me lanzó la idea del Skype, la rechacé… hasta que tras cruzarme unos emails con River me di cuenta de que era la mejor forma de descubrirle, de dibujarle. Porque River, en el cara a cara, en persona sabe manejarse. A sus 19 años es uno de los modelos internacionales con más presente y más futuro. Ha desfilado y trabajado para firmas como Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, DC, Tommy Hilfiger, American Eagle, etc. Su cara de niño bueno –o terrible, según le pidan- ha copado las portadas de las principales revistas internacionales de moda y tendencias: Essential Homme, GQ Style Rusia, Client, Attitude, Coitus, Surface Magazine, Guapo, Wing… Además aparecer en reportajes y entrevistas en más de una treintena de estas revistas. Las páginas de la revista GQ de Estados Unidos, Rusia, China o Japón guardan, en las hojas de alguno de sus números, las poses y bromas de River. De un niño que abandonó todo rumbo a su futuro con apenas 18 años.

Porque River sigue siendo un niño. Su madurez es la madurez de la que nos hablaba Nietzshe al decirnos: “La madurez del hombre es haber vuelto a encontrar la seriedad con la que jugaba cuando era niño”.

River en este mundo de la moda es un niño que juega a ser adulto. Con toda la ingenuidad y la ilusión. Eso se desprende al hablar con él.

- ¿Cuál es la diferencia entre River y un chaval que viva en España y tenga 19 años?

- El chaval cualquiera tiene su vida y no la que le ponen. Hace lo que le da la gana, y no lo que le mandan. Va al colegio. Ve a sus amigos, ve a sus familiares. Y River ni va al colegio ni hace lo que quiere ni ve a sus familiares ni a sus amigos… Y tiene que obedecer a lo que le dicen.

Había un halo de amargura en esas palabras. Era tan solo el inicio de la entrevista, pero River ya estaba abierto de par en par. Estaba en el apartamento de Nueva York que comparte con otro modelo español. Tirado en el sofá y delante de la webcam de su Mac Book. Ahora no tenía delante los flashes y las cámaras con las que tan seguro se sentía. Ahora hablaba con un periodista desconocido de Madrid de la misma forma que cada día lo hace con su novia Paula. Qué difícil se le hace la ausencia de Paula en ese día a día… y de su madre.

- Lo que peor llevo en estos dos años de profesión es haber estado 10 meses sin ver a mi madre: desde que empecé y me fui a Londres hasta que ella vino aquí a ver el desfile de CK. Yo soy un niño de mamá y tengo que verla. Ahora llevo sin verla desde noviembre y eso se lleva muy mal.

A River no le molesta la soledad. Moviéndose en un mundo tan superficial, sabe distinguir muy bien el grano de la paja. A River lo único que le molesta es no tener cada día a su gente.

- ¿Eres lo suficientemente listo para saber en este mundo quien te valora por lo que eres y quien lo hace por la situación por la que atraviesas?

- Sí: amigos, familia y novia. Ni mi agente, ni mi representante, ni el cliente… Esos te usan. Es verdad que puedes caerles bien, pero principalmente todo es falsedad.

- ¿Qué es para ti un amigo?

- Una persona con la que me encuentro a gusto cuando estoy con él, con la que puedo hablar de cualquier tema, con la que hay confianza. Eso es un amigo.

DÍAS ENTEROS LLORANDO

Es complicado que un chaval de 19 años, guapo, atractivo, triunfador, cobrando sumas interesantes de dinero, viviendo en la capital del mundo y viajando de Nueva York a Milán, pasando por Londrés, París o Berlín para ser objeto de deseo de diseñadores, estilistas y fotógrafos sepa diferenciar entre valor y precio. Es complicado que un chaval que lo tiene todo como River no sepa responder con un sí a la pregunta “¿Eres feliz?”. Y es que River sabe lo que tiene valor, lo que no se compra con dinero ni lo da la fama.

Me cuenta que ha llegado a rechazar trabajos importantes sólo por el hecho de pasar unos días con Paula, que estudia en el Estado de Washington –es de Madrid, donde se conocieron-. Es un chico que sabe que hay cosas importantes para él, como su trabajo y luego cosas sin las cuales no podría vivir: su gente.

Tal vez esto se deba a la vida de crío y a sus difíciles comienzos en el mundo de la moda.

- Nací en Ibiza, a los seis meses me mudé a Canarias. Allí estuve dos años. Nos mudamos a Finlandia. Estuvimos 5 años viviendo allí. Hicimos algunas paraditas cortas por Europa, de algunos meses y luego volvimos a España [a Aravaca] donde estuve desde los casi 10 años.

- ¿Cómo recuerdas tu infancia?

- Pues vida familiar más que otra cosa con tanto viaje… Amigos hasta que llegamos a Aravaca pues no he tenido, así que más vida solitaria que otra cosa.

“A veces no vemos lo que tenemos”, me comentó hace poco un amigo y quizá la gran virtud de River sea esa, que él si ve lo que tiene. Eso le ha hecho crecer como persona.

En lo profesional, lo que le ha llevado a ir conquistando pequeñas cimas en el camino hacia el Everest de la moda es otra virtud: su decisión e impaciencia. River es ambicioso y lo quiere todo inmediatamente. No sabe esperar ni piensa demasiado las cosas. Es un niño de 19 años.

- ¿Cómo empezaste en todo esto?

- Mi madre era modelo y actriz y desde pequeño me metió en una agencia cuando vivíamos en Finlandia. Mi hermana y yo hacíamos trabajos “chorras” de estos de niños pequeños en revistas y eso…

En mi vuelta a España, yo era un chico normal que iba al colegio en Aravaca. A los 14 o 15 empecé a hacer cosas de modelo aquí en España y como los estudios iban para atrás en vez de para delante… [Risas] Pues ya me enfoco un poco al mundo del modelaje.

Siendo aún menor de edad, hago cosas de poca importancia por España y cuando cumplo 18 años me envían a Londres.

- Ahí sus padres se divorcian, deja los estudios…. Y empieza vida en solitario. Londres-Paris- NY

- Mi agencia en España contactó con una en Londres y cuando llegué fui como pude allí. En cuanto aparecí en la agencia, me cogieron, me dieron un papelito… y me dicen “Ale, empieza a hacer castings”.

Y de hacer cuatro o cinco castings en Madrid al mes, paso a hacer 16 en un día. Y nada, a la aventura con un mapita y a empezar a correr. Así empezó todo.

Con 18 años recién cumplidos, en el ocaso del verano de 2009, River aterriza en el mundillo de la moda y es en esa toma de contacto con la realidad cuando este chico se empieza a dar cuenta de lo duro que va a ser comenzar esta andadura.

Lo hace totalmente en solitario y, quizá, ese haya sido uno de los secretos de su éxito. Su madre, a pesar de que fue la gran impulsora de que River empezara con el modelaje, nunca lo ha querido sobreproteger: lo ha dejado equivocarse. Pero River siempre ha sabido salir de los embrollos en los que él mismo se mete:

- ¿En Londres tienes el apoyo de tu representante? ¿Te acompañaba a los castings?

- No te acompaña ni dios. El representante te da un papel con la dirección del casting y el cliente para quien vas a hacer ese casting. Coges y vas tú solo con tu book. Llegas, plantas tu book, te hacen unas fotitos, si te tienen que probar ropa, te la prueban y si no, te mandan para casa.

El bromista y vacilón River se pone serio al hablar de esta parte. No fueron fáciles esos dos meses iniciales en Londres, ni tampoco las casi 3 semanas en París.

- Al principio le decía [a su madre] que de puta madre para que no se preocupase. Luego que no tenía dinero para come. Y finalmente: “Esto es una mierda y quiero volverme a casa.”

Medio en broma, medio en serio me dice que las semanas en Londres y en París las pasó llorando. Por mail no me lo hubiera dicho y en una cafetería de Madrid tampoco. Desde el salón del apartamento donde vive y delante de la cam de su Mac, sí.

- Tú llegas a Londres y a París y te alojas en un apartamento además de otros gastos… ¿Cómo se paga todo eso?

- Pues las agencias te lo adelantan y luego te lo quitan del sueldo, aunque tener dinero siempre viene bien en este mundo. Yo cuando fui a todos estos lados no me pagué nada. La agencia te busca piso, la agencia te lo paga, te paga los viajes… Y de una cuenta tuya, donde cobras los trabajos, luego te lo quita.

Yo llegué a Estados Unidos sin un pavo.

Estados Unidos fue el destino del joven River Viiperi después de sus inicios más o menos fracasados en Reino Unido y Francia. Era otoño, casi invierno, de 2009. Aún no era nada en el mundo de la moda… Hasta que las barras y estrellas volvieron ondear de nuevo simbolizando el famoso “sueño americano”. América fue el cambio de River. Más concretamente, Calvin Klein.

- ¿Cuál es el punto de inflexión de tu carrera?

- En cuanto aterrizo en Nueva York, con lo de Calvin Klein. En mi agencia me dan el papel para el casting de CK. Hago el castings, les encanto…

- ¿Por qué les encantas?

- Personalidad, la forma en que te desenvuelves con los clientes. Si llegas allí, le das el book y te quedas callado… Van a decir “tienes cara bonita pero no tienes ni idea de moverte delante de la cámara”.

- Y a partir de CK meteórico…

- Pues me pillan para el desfile internacional en exclusiva y me ponen en archivo para la campaña. Hago el desfile de CK en Nueva York y me cancelan la campaña.

- ¿Por qué te cancelan una campaña tan importante?

- Porque engordé un poquito y la piel empeoró. Intentaron remediarlo con dieta líquida, adelgacé 10 kilos, pero la piel no les gustó.

- Tú ves estas cosas normal… ¿Pero cómo es que te cancelan una campaña por engordar un poco y porque la cara la tenía “hecha un Cristo”?

Pues mira… Me puse a llorar como un crío durante dos meses y me volví a España. Luego llego a NY cuando se me pasa.

Yo me veía bien… Luego he visto las fotos… y bueno, sí que es verdad que tenía la piel un poco roja.

¿Cómo te tendrías que haber cuidado?

- Pues como tenía poco dinero y poco tiempo, pues comía mierda. Hamburguesas, pizzas… Tendría que haber comido sano.

Tampoco es exagerado, no hay que comer verdurita todos los días, hay que comer como una persona normal, Hay que variar la comida: pollo, carnes, ensaladas, judías. De vez en cuando te puedes permitir un McDonalds, pero poco.

Beber agua en vez de refrescos… Y gimnasio, voy poco la verdad. Pero más que ir al gimnasio a levantar pesas lo que hay que hacer es hacer deporte.

River no le otorga demasiada importancia a que el portal de modelos más importante (models.com) lo incluya en su TOP 50 –ocupa el puesto 35- o que la revista Hola lo considerase el mejor modelo de 2010. Le ilusiona, como niño que es, pero no es más que algo que podría no serlo.

Es poco tiempo -apenas 2 años- el que River lleva en este mundillo. Suficiente para aseverarme una y otra vez que me equivoco al pensar que es un tipo con suerte.

- No hago lo que yo quiero. Tengo que ser modelo ahora mismo porque es lo único que me da dinero a mí, a mi familia.

- ¿Te gustaría dejar esto?

- Sí, pero yo sigo siendo modelo porque es una industria en la que ganas más dinero que donde trabajan, normalmente, las personas y tampoco tengo la posibilidad de ponerme a estudiar. Si no trabajo, no hay dinero para estudiar. Ahora mismo, no puedo hacer otra cosa.

- ¿Cómo es el mundo este de la moda?

- Es un mundo interesante que parece fácil pero no es tan fácil. Te tienes que acostumbrar a mucha mierda, tienes que acostumbrarte a que te manden, hacer lo que te digan los estilistas… Y te tienes que callar mucho, morderte la lengua. Eso a mí se me da muy mal.

Por eso te tienes que apoyar en tu familia, amigos y demás para desahogarte con ellos.

- ¿Qué es lo que odias de este mundo de la moda?

- Pues odio muchas cosas. Odio que muchos de los que estén en la cima lo estén por “algo”. Lo que menos me gusta de este mundillo es la falsedad.

De sus palabras sinceras se desprende cierto aire de rebeldía juvenil y también cierta resignación. River insiste en que es lo que le toca. Rebeldía y resignación. ¿Incongruencia? No, River es un chico que lleva las riendas de su vida, pero ahora mismo monta un caballo que no es el que desea del todo.

Y es eso, el llevar las riendas, el dirigir su vida lo que le hace a este chico encarar todo con ironía y una sonrisa. Su actitud es algo así como “si vienes a putearme, bienvenido. Sé que saldré de esta porque ya he salido de otras peores”.

Las maratonianas sesiones de fotos para una campaña internacional de una marca de ropa, o las pesadas jornadas de desfiles y pasarelas River se las toma con humor.

- Me lo paso bien trabajando, pero por como soy yo. Si tuviese que ser como te piden que seas, no me lo pasaría bien. La gente ya sabe como soy, sabe que me gusta estar de buen humor, haciendo bromas…Cuando me conocen ya lo hago.

De primeras eso no lo puedes hacer porque… [risas]

Después de más de una hora de entrevista, River y yo descubrimos que lo que empezó con un intercambio de mensajitos de 140 caracteres en Twitter se ha convertido en una conversación de colegas. Faltan las cervezas y la pizza y obviar los miles de kilómetros que separan Nueva York de Madrid.

- ¿Qué es lo que tú valoras en la vida?

- Valoro mucho a la gente que tengo a mi lado. A la gente a la que le puedo contar cosas, pedir consejo. Mi madre, Joan [su compañero en NY], mis amigos… y lo mismo con mi novia.

Es muy simple. Valoro que me respeten, que se lo pasen bien conmigo, que me apoyen en lo bueno y en lo malo…

- Tú, River, lo que valoras es que te quieran…

Y que me aprecien como soy.

“Que me aprecien como soy” me dice. No es River el que vemos en las hojas de las revistas que hemos citado en esta entrevista. Ni tampoco el de los anuncios o el de los desfiles. Ese tan solo es la creación puntual de un estilista. De un artista de la moda. Ese no es River.

River es el chico que veo, gracias a Skype y su webcam, tirado en el sillón de su casa. Quizá esta sea la entrevista más personal que haya concedido River. Quizá yo sí haya logrado dibujar a River.

Se enciende un cigarrillo en la terraza de su apartamento:

- ¿Fumas?

- Si se entera mi novia de que fumo, me mata [risas].

Tranquilo River, no te matará. Ella te quiere por cómo eres.

Skin Care

So as requested i'm going to explain what i do to take care of my skin, when i was abi younger i had really bad skin (still do) so i've pretty much tried everything there is in the market, from natular things to quemical things...

i recomend the naturall things, and use it constantly, foaming cleanser, that i usually use in the shower then i moisturize with homeopatin, it's really thick but it's really good to you just have to make sure you don't put too much, that's all i use now for my skin every once in a while exfoliate, u can practically use what ever u wan't for that.. i think i'm using neutrogena right now...

what i found out after so many years trying to improve my skin is that no matter what u use if your diet is shit! your skin will be... i started to eat healthy and my skin is getting much better i eat alot of vegies, fish, meat, no soda, just water, juices, and that kinda stuff so for those who have probles with the skin, eath healthy food, organic food, no mc donalds, burgers, no soda, no alcohol, it sucks...but you have to do it, i quit smoking as much as i used to and it's much better now, i stopped going out as much as i used to and it's working...sorry i don't have any pictures but cam problem :) i'll get my cam very soon again...

brands i don't really care don't go for the reeeeally cheap ones but u can use a normal one.. i don't know about brands so just ask the people working at the store :)

FAVORITE MODELS / DESIGNER

I could talk about alot of models and alot of designers! tons and tons! there is thousands of brands and thousands of models! but everyone knows that there are brands and BRANDS! aswell as models and MODELS!

lets start with the brands.

there is different ways for me to consider a brand, i clasify brands for shows, campaigns, and then day by day use.

as shows i'd have to say the ones i most enjoy (or have enjoyed) have been Calvin klein (the crew is like a family already for me, i started with them and i keep working for them so i feel very confortable with that crew and i always have fun back stage as u may have seen in som pics :), Dsquared2 has also been a very fun show to do this last season in milan one of my "dreams" was to do their show because i've always watched them and they are very creative and fun, so now i can actually confirm that dean&dan know what they are doing. i would also have to say that john galiano's shows are also always very impresive, the recreation of the scenes, colections, etc...and after doing this seasons show i really enjoyed it, lots of fun ( i feel sorry for what he did, and hope he recovers soon ) so theese are the shows i've most enjoyed and hope to keep enjoying. all the other shows i have done i always enjoy them to but the sets are more basic concentrating in the clothing :) frankie morello's shows are also very creative (arround the models) meaning like last summer lot's of extras "in the beach" and this past season dancers with boxes.

here are other shows i haven't done but would like to do because i have seen them and i think they would be fun, michael kors seems to be a fun show as it is also girl and boys so the energy would be different :), YSL as has always been one of my favorite brands, Armani (both, giorgio and emporio) emporio because i love Emporio and giorgio to be honest hahaha because they give nice presents for the show :P (just kiddin) but if u do emporio u usually do giorgio i think so :). i could keep talking about othe brands and shows like Y-3! very creative running in the run way and things like that... lets say i love the crazy shows lol

campaign wise i would have to say i'd love to do Dsquared campaigns i love each and everyone of the campaigns i have seen, also very creative. Calvin klein, YSL and Emporio because they are my favorite brands and they are both i guess good campaigns name wise, AE campaigns i have done 2 times and enoyed them ALOT :) AX campaigns i love because they always do this sexy kind of story, girls/boys also would love to do, and right now i can't really think about other ones but i'm very sure there is alot of them.

and now day by day use as for my style, and things that i would wear, adidas, ck, armani exchange, Dsquared2, hurley, element, zoo york and all theese surf, skate brands i guess for informal use, and for formal i would always go for calvin klein suit as for YSL suits and dolce & gabanna, and formal but not too formal emporio armani, D&G, ermanno scervino (specially the latest colection) and same thing here i could keep talking about brands but i think that's enough for now hahahaha

MODELS THAT INSPIRE ME

all the big names such as noah mills, david G, Sam, tony ward and othe big names of the dolce ads ( because they are huge and still have the feet on the ground, and they are normal people, not like some models that this industry get's into their heads and start acting like if they where in a other level, then other big names that insiper me and always have are names such as DAVID BECKHAM i'm a huge fan since i was like about 10 years old, i've always wanted to be like him hahahaha and cristiano ronaldo also.

there is so many models but i don't know them, i have just seen them so can't talk about them personally but just as they seem to be.

so that's all i can talk about i think...

designers i don't know too many personally only mister dolce and mister gabanna very kind always :) mister italo from Calvin klein a very amazing person always very nice, kevin from ck also sweet as f*** really amazing people the calvin crew i must say also enjoyed working alot with ax crew also very chilled and fun :)

well i know every one has seen these videos, and probably have seen the interviews and all the behind the scenes videos.

so i just wanted to let people know the ck. one campaign where shot in NY in 2 different studios was one of the most amazing shoots i have been in the excitement of flying from spain to NY for this job, that at first point i thought they weren't going to book me for so when i got the e-mail i packed my bags and of to NY as soon as i landed i got to the studio and ok i was going to meet STEVEN MEISEL! so i was freaking out! a lot of huge names of this industry where in there as the shoot was a new thing, crazy thing and i think that it was the best choice! wouldn't have thought about anything better to come up with the new ck. one campaign, karl temples styling! one of the big stylist in this industry! steven meisel, probably the BIGGEST photographer/fashion director in the industry, together with pat mcgrath the biggest make up artist! and also directing and helping increase the energy in the studio and in THE BOX! all the CK family i LOVE so much :) the family i've started with in this industry :)

so when i first got there i was nervous but when i saw the shoot was about our different personalities! i felt ME, MY SELF & I. i just had to be me! arround all theese people just put on jeans and be ME! so amazing! got to meet huge names like, lara stone, abey lee...david a was also there, yuri, aaron, rita, maria, eliza, rob evans, alot of people and most of them where amazing just haging arorund playing ping pong, riding bikes, singing, screaming, just F******* arround! so that was a really nice experience and i hope it brings me more up coming jobs!

i have to say i didn't get to meet steven in person as he was in a closed set where only few ppl could go in so that was alittle bit disapointing but i hope he saw me :P

well as people wanted to see more of me and not just general information, i'm doing this VLOG about my life let's call it rivers reality show hahahaha funny huh? i enjoy doing it it's easier and everyone wh wants gets to see more or less what i have to do as a model and what i don't so i hope everyone like it! this was yesterdays day! i'll upload todays on youtube for now let me some comments about what you think about this and what you would like me to film ad i could also do kind of questions answers but filming my answers to questions you guys have but please! be serious! hahahaha

How to become a model

well as people have been asking me how could they become models and questions like that the only thing i can say is how i became a model and like that try to help those who want to to give it a try.

there are few options, you might get scouted in the mall, street, restaurant or where ever, or u can just go to some agencies to let them see you and then they will consider if they want to have you in the board or not, if the first one says no don't give up keep going to other ones i'd try first from the best one and then going down... as if you go to a smaller agency and they book you you'll never know if the bigger but not always better ones would have liked u.

once you are in an agency YOU ARE A MODEL! WOW! hahahaha

just pay attention on what they tell you and they will start sending you to see clients, doing casting, etc...

the beginning is always hard, like in always...nobody knows you, nobody cares about you, etc...this might take up to 3 years...so HAVE to be patient and little by little you will be getting jobs here and there to start paying the debt u have since u started as when you first start the agencies normally advance you flights, rent, etc...but then they will take it back when u start working and wining money.

to be a model you have to be GIRLS: 1'75cm min and BOYS: 1'80cm. about been good looking or not...depends on the people some ppl might like u and some might not but that doesn't mean u can't be a model there is a lot of different types of models in this world... and about the height they say that but i know of models that are not that tall and are still models one of the best examples is our very loved KATE MOSS.

once you have the agency, that agency will try and place you in other agencies around the world, in my case i started seriously modeling in London and from there went to paris, new york, etc... when you go to other countries you MUST know you will be staying in model apartments or cheap hotels, this is going to be a nice experience as the cheap hotels are not very nice hahahah and model apartments you will have to live with a lot of people in one house and learn how to live with those people...it's not the best thing of modeling but you will learn a lot like i did, when i first came to new york i lived in a house with 10 people! hey not everyone is going to be nice with you but you have to try to be nice with everyone at least that's what i tried to do.

so i think that's about all you need to know about modeling, sometimes you will have fun sometimes you will want to quit but that's why the name of my blog is NEVER BACK DOWN! i hope this post helps someone and if not let me know and i'll try to do something better!

YEAH! 3rd post!

this time somebody asked about the personality of a model, does your personality book you jobs? or does you look book you jobs?

it's true that in some shows like Americas next top model and show like that they mention in a lot, when i started modeling i heard a lot about been nice, smiling, etc... but hey that's how i am so that was no problem, it is true somehow that you get extra points if u are nice, and know how to connect with the client, casting director, etc... but if they are looking for a certain type of guy even if u are the nicest person in the world...forget about it hahahaha i would say it's more like a 20%-80% / 30%-70% or arround there, but ofcourse if they are just casting a general think and don't have nothing in mind and you are nice, they see you are easy to handle, etc... u might book more jobs.

from my point of view, i started modeling in london last september so i've been modeling about 1year and 4 months now, my agents in the beginning told me that this industry was hard to get up there, to build your name, etc...but maaaan i love challenges so i started my challenge the 14th of september of 2010 in london, the challenge of building a name for my self asap...the first 3 months in london were very very hard, alot of casting no work, alot of dept...not nice lol, then i went to paris about 1 month and i did some jobs but also -70% almos nothing so i started to realise it was going to be really hard...but then once of a sudden, i get a call at 3AM "river you are shooting with heidi slimane & nicola formichetti in LA in 2 days, so i had to take a train from paris to london, flight from london to NY and flight from NY to LA...first big job, and i was freaking out...after that shoot i stayed in NY, and my first casting in NY my lovelly client Calvin Klein ( i have to say it i love the CK familly ) :) and they helped me alot with the international exclusive for the show :D... after those 2 jobs things started going better and better and now 1 year and 4 motnhs after i think i made it, kind of...i like to think i'm doing well because of how i am :) i try to be nice, down to earth, funny even stupid sometimes hahahah HEY! i'm 19 can i enjoy my life or not? hahahaha and now i'm looking forward to the year 2011 started with a really nice season in paris and milan 9 shows hoping to somehow make it to NY and then more and more!!!!!!

Well here we go with the second post.

As someone asked me to explain how casting, fitting and things like that work i'll explain a little bit how a life of a model if (in my opinion).

BOOOOOORING! hahaha just a joke!

well the life of a model as everyone knows or can imagine, is traveling,walking,waiting, working and we star again with this i want to say that it seems to be easier that it is, everything has good and bad things, model travel a lot, sounds nice huh? but traveling a lot sometimes keeps you from seen your friends, family, girlfriend if u have or boyfriend, ofcourse traveling is a thing that not everyone gets to do that's why we love it even though sometimes we think "i wish i could stay here" it's a great advantage, you see new cultures, countries, people, everything. but what's better traveling with friends? or alone? models often travel alone unless it's for FW like you can see in the latest video of JUSTIN WU (there is a part where u can see a bunch of models in the same flight flying back to paris) or for shoots with otehr models like one of my shoots for AE with arthur sales...but normally u go back and forth alone so it gets boring sometimes, oooh well as i said everything has good and bad things i still love IT! because of this i got to finally see NY even tho i missed what u guys know :'(. ok a model with only walking, skating, or how ever you get to your casting except if it's by car, u walk ALOT every day to casting, fitting, go & see's, it's not even a joke...how does 10-15 castings sound like? busy? fun? stressful? hahahah i actually love it it's like a goal u have to score, to do them ALL! i'm the only pain in the A** that is always rushing my model friends (joan pedrola & adrian cardoso & joan mirangles) to try and do them all! ok so now u have some kind of clue of how the models keep themselves fit hahaha only part of it, sports, gym, swimming and eating healthy is also a huge part ask the Brazilian models, how do they have those bodies man? i keep wondering hahahah. ok so you walk alot to go to --->

then in alot of the casting u're never the only one so that means u have to WAIT!, maybe minutes, maybe hours.. so if u smoke u better have ciggs, if u read a nice book with you always helps to forgett about time and wait, music? music is cool right? just put your head phones and chill or talk talk talk till u get bored and start complaining lol, i'm the kind of talk talk talk and...hahahaha or as some of you know my secret...yes i do have justing bieber song in my phone...(sorry) hahahaha.

the way casting work is easy, CASTING DIRECTOR, CLIENT, AND OTHERS are in a room sitting on a table...you go in, shouw them your book smiling always :P or saying some funny jokes to make them laugh and pass that pic u don't like hahahaha, and when they have seen the book they take few composists,card how ever you like to call them and then usually they take few pictures, make you walk (if it's a casting for a show) mybe try u something on (usually for shows) and then u thank them for their time, and leave ALWAYS WITH SOME FUNNY MOOVEMENT hahaha not always because there are some serious ppl that u have to act more profesisonal :) i learned that not too long ago lol.

OK now that more or less everyone knows how this works, after casting you always wonder...did they like we will they use me? bla bla bla if it was for a show 2-3 days later u will have the fitting normally called fit to confirm.

a fitting is where the client, assistants, casting director check how the clothes fit you, to chance what ever they have to change, nothing to difficult to understand but quite hard to do i think lol u put your outfit and then you have 3 people pinning you up to fit the clothes perfectly so when u walk it looks nice and smooth! and after that the show.

if the casting was for a shoot they usually fit the clothes in the same day of the shoot because as everyone knows in pictures it's easier to photoshop pins or what ever :)

the moment of the shows:

EXITING, NERVS, ANXIOUS, AFRAID, HAPPY,

there are alot of words that can explain that moment, when u walk u have to feel good, u have to think u look good, to transmit people that same feeling so they think " MAN! THAT GUY LOOKS GOOD IN THAT SUIT I NEED THAT SUIT" u get it? hahahaha before getting out of the cat walk, butterflies... ALL over hahahah feels like a roller coaster or something like that...i get nervous only the 3 seconds before when the director takes your arm and tells you NOW! hahahaha then after the now, no butterflies no nothing just you and a runway focussing in looking good and making the clothes look good.

i want to talk about finally models.com added the money GUYS! as before there was only the money girls! and my question now is, why do they do this if they don't let people know how much they earn? hahahaha just kidding,

models.com in this industry when i first started, my first agent told me that u have to get to that page to start getting your name out there, so that was my first goal, when i got there my agent told me that now you have to get into the top 50 so people see you as one of the best ones and ask for you, so that's my next goal, to get that goal done i need to do more fashion, but why fashion? people say i'm more a commercial type model, for fashion you have to be skinny to fit all those clothes, even though i am skinny, my face, body or what ever tells them that i'm commercial and not fashion, how do you decide if a model is more for fashion than for commercial type of works? and why? i think every single model can work as a fashion model they just have to look good in clothes! hahaha as for a commercial time of model in my opinion it's more about of body so you have to have a decent body right? this are some of the things i thought about during my first year of modeling, and keep thinking now as i'm trying to get some fashion done. wish me luck.

and the reason of this post was to let the people know that, models.com has influence in the opinion of the people from this industry even though it's not always 100%.

so now the money guys even though people know who are the best models, most recognized models and the ones who work the most model.com have put their opinion out there so people can see it.

Hello, leading to all my camera problems i have decided to do a completely new kind of blog something that i hope attracts more people and not just my fans, it will still be a personal blog but concentrating more in the fashion industry and not only in my journeys, i will talk about my journeys, interesting things about the fashion world, fashion parties, i'll keep debating about the common mitts of the fashion world, selection of models for the fashion shows, etc...

well! here we go AGAIN! alot of you guys must think what do models take with them for a trip, what do they do, how do they fly, how do they life, etc...and here it is!!!!!!!!

all you need when you go for a 3 day trip is, hand sanitizer, facial scrub, facial night wash, shampoo, conditioner, foaming cleanser, deep pore wash, eucaliptus toner, deodorant, facial cream, perfume and... that's about it just like girls huh? hahahahah
anothe picture of the same things i usually travel with when going on a short trip (that ended up been a long one) hahahaha
all packed and ready to go! have u seen such a thing? nice and organized LOVE IT!! :)
and well here we have clothes, and other stuff i travel with! suck as, mobile, head phones, camera, laptop, chargers, MY HAT! and few normal things like underweare,socks, t-shirts, gym pants and gym t-shirt just in case u get to hit the gym, u never know... chewing gum ( i hate wakeing up in the plane and having a dry mouth so that's the perfet solution) :P and that's about it right?

after control, had to go further as they warned me not to take pictures hahahah so zooming in and that's the best shot i could get without them noticing!
aaaaaaaaand here is my gate A5 they always tell you to be 2h before your flight and when i always get to the gate i still have like 1 1/2h till departure time so that's the buissnes , u log in to the compputer spend money for the internet, eat and PAM! extra money for them! cleaver huh? hahahaha
boarding in the tunnel already as u can see everyone last minute calls, they still turn of the mobiles when told! rules are made to breack them! hahaha so untill u're in the air u can still use it with no prob yet :P
oh empty plane, and they gave me the LAST row...UUUGH, talked to the ladys inside and they told me that once in the air i could go wher ever and i was like buisness and first also? jajaja and they says try but i don't think so and yeah they didnt let me so i stayed in the back....this was one of my worst flights ever...6h turbulences non stop! NON STOP! i don't mind them BUT PLEASE let me fall asleep and then start... so yeah i was tryin to fall asleep but too much moovement...discusting...

madrids terminal 4 one of the bigest ones and nicest ones in the world lol i would say hahahaha
in the bus going to the terminal, that's something i hate about spain u always have to get of the plane and to the bus never straight to gate because they suck!
hahaha in the new terminal, in the gate already 1h still till departure and after few movies in the other fight mac withour battery...so to the toilet to charge it to see one more :)

so my last night in London was that night where they were going to throw fireworks all over the city, ans me and some friends decided to go and check that out, with no luck ass we were late for them, so we just went out for a walk a cig and to take some pictures lol

well in spain didn't have enough time to take pics as had to see my friends and al that so after seen my friends, didn't sleep, just stayed awake because i had to pack a different bag and then off to the airport to check in and fly off for my awesome joB! :)

so after my lovely videos of AE :) i have been quite busy in london, running up and down, sight seen, castings, etc...so havent had much time to come arround with my new big post :) but i have it already in mind! next plans are, monday job in london, tuesday to brusels, wednesday back to london, and maybe directly to spain, un pack and pack to go to NY and WORK WORK WORK WORK there till christmas as i only got a 3 month visa and i better make sure i get the best out of NY :D i'll stay there till the industrie closes for christmas go back to spain for christmas and as soon as the industrie opens back up again i'll RUN over there to keep working until the visa expires and i will work it out to get and extension o it ofcourse :)! wish me luck! i'll come up with my next post mondayyyyyyyyyy xxxx

so found out the day before i had a shot in paris so had to go to pack and get ready to leave...the car service was picking me up at 3 am to drop me off at st. pancras station...and from there...paris here i come!!!!!!!!!! :S

so this is st.pancras how i've never seen it, EMPTY! hahaha as u can see i was trying to get a nice pic..but i'm starting...lol

well got to the train station at...3.15 am so as u can see had alot of time to get bored at the train station, and it was freeeezing in there! lol
my friends the ticket machines, i think i'm going to have to buy one to keep home so i can print all my tickets when ever i want hahahaha
ticket printed and...still 1h till boarding...sooo had to do something...
tried to take pics to my self so u see models look good even at 3am without sleeping hahahaha (just kidding)
after taking some pics, sat down...bored and cold..trying to keep warm and figure out the new camera :)
then started to get hugry...soo found a open cafe and went for something to eat and a nice hot chocolate mmmmmmmmmmmm :)
boarding time...and the empty station turned out to be full...hahahaha and most of the ppl in couples... :( really missed my gf...
once passed control, had to wait for the gate, so decided to try to get some nice pics...JUST TRIED hahaha

as u can see it was already 5am by then...so...that meand i was bored for 2h!! woow could have prob stayed home 1 more hahahaha buuuuut oooh well work is work sometimes it's like this :)

and there you see it's almost 9am in paris - 8am in london, and u also see a mad man coming to tell me to delete the pic hahahaha (bad joke) ok so i was finding my way to the underground to go to the studio :)
got to the studio at pin up studios in paris :) nice studios not my first time there, met the ppl and chilled for a while till we started
got some hair and make up :) like always nothing new
while getting hair :D
waiting for makeup! while my model mate was getting hair :) there was 4 boys 4 girls in the shoot :) all russian or french :) so i didn't understand a work when they talked to each other :)
and make up time!!!!!!!

and afterthe shoot, back to the tube station, to get to gare du nord to catch my train back to london :D
passed control at the train station and again had like 2h till my train
all those ppl where in the train before mine... so i thought about getting in that earlier train but didn't want to risk it so stayed uploading the pics to my laptop and fixin them abit :D hahahaa

and then got my train got to london and went trainght home to sleEEEEEEEEEEp! :D

Just a random day! :D casting,back to the agency, meet up with a friend, starbucks, and home...

well here started my day, 9.30 a.m. i recieved my details got ready...

breackfast, nice frosties to start the day like a champion hahahah

got ready and off to the street

this is the deli we have next to where we live, on my way to the bus stop

me on the bus, on my way to take the tube

about to get in the tube to go to my first casting :)

oyster card , to pass through (oyster cards are expensive, ughhh)

down the stairs, to catch the train

got off at oxford circus for my first casting

looking for the building of my first casting, running late so stressing a bit

and here! found it run up 4 floors and did it :)

the walked to bond street station, to run to my fitting, i was also running late, and i got lost on my way to it and had to jump a fence full of oil...so got really messy... :(

and now on my way to meet up my friend and guess what? running late again, (got stopped in the street and asked for another autograph by a small group of ladies but could only take a pic with one of them :( next time i promise that i will give u a comp card signed :)

met up with my friend grabd some food after going to her agency and then...

STARBUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!

well as u can see that is my "bed" lol and it's a bit messy hahahah there is beds in the house but i prefer to sleep in the living room with the 55 inch tv, and no people arround so i can skype, watch movies, etc... without disturbing anyone and listening any one snooring or anything hahahah and

and here we can see some of my flat mates, from left to right (vinci "puerto rico" with my lap top, nils "sweden" smoking a cig, and bart "holland" watching tv) there is more pics of the house but...if u think my "bed is messy you wouldnt like to see the rest hahahaha xxx i'm just learning how to use my cam and tday havent been outside so don't have any other intresting pics! but soon! xxx
