Happy Caturday everyone! This is a scheduled post because I am out looking at kittens today! In today's post, I try my hand at nail foil for the very first time. Born Pretty Store sent me these excellent Dazzling Starry Nail Art Foils for review and I decided to try them over my Chanel Taboo mani from the other day. Above, you can see the foils in #2, a smooth, reflective holographic gold foil, and #3 a kind of scattered holo pink foil. You can get three containers of foil for only $2.80 each from Born Pretty Store (with free shipping!), making these a much better deal than some of the pricier foil kits out there.

Now, cut me a bit of slack on the final appearance here, as this is my first attempt at nail foils. I do think I learned some helpful tips for next time. Here are the directions from the Born Pretty website that I followed for this look:
"How to use:

1. Prepare your nail bed by shaping, pushing cuticles back and removing all oils (do this using professional nail prep eg scrub fresh or nail polish remover.
2. Apply a base coat, and wait it dry.
3. Apply nail polish(dark color is better), wait it dry, and apply the polish again, wait it dry(not totally dry, a gentle fingerprint is left on the nails when you press your finger on the nail)
4. Press foil shiny side up, onto the nail and rub over using your finger, or for a better more precise application, use a rubber hoof stick. (for best results cut a piece of foil of the length just big enough for the nail, its easier to control and apply flat). Different colors of foils can mixed on the nails
5. Remove the foil and the foil pattern should be stuck to your nail. If a bit is missing, just apply the top coat to the part not taken and repeat to step.4
6. Once completely dry, apply a coat to protect the foil. "

The gold foil (#2) transferred to the nail really easily. There are only a few spots that you can see it didn't transfer. I decided to leave them there on purpose, for more of a random look. The pink foil (#3) was harder to get on my nail. It didn't really seem to want to transfer well. I would probably not want to try to do a whole nail with just the pink, but it was OK for mixing with the gold. What I like about this foil look is that it looks cool with some random placement. In fact, next time, I think I would try to cover less of my nail and make it look even more random. One thing I had a bit of difficulty with was determining when the polish was dry enough to apply the foil, yet still slightly damp enough for the foil to transfer. If your polish is too wet, the foil peels the polish away; if the polish is too dry, the foil doesn't transfer. However, I have a feeling this is something that you would get used to with some practice!

I would definitely recommend the Born Pretty Store Dazzling Starry Nail Art Foils. They are gorgeous, come in a ton of different colors and patterns (I have the leopard print one to show you too!), and very inexpensive! I received Chanel Taboo in a swap. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

I have been lemming Chanel Taboo since the day it came out, but quite frankly, I didn't want to pay for it. In an excellent stroke of luck for me, I actually ended up swapping for this on Makeup Alley! I swapped away a Chanel face cleanser I wasn't even using, so it felt like getting Taboo for free! Taboo is ridiculously stunning in the bottle. It looks like a red-purple galaxy with silver stars floating throughout. On my nails, however, it kind of looks like your average blue-toned vampy purple, albeit those pretty silver flecks dancing around. Now don't get me wrong, I really love Taboo. I am a huge sucker for vampy Chanel polishes. I think if I had paid actual money for this, I'd be a little bummed though. I do think the silver flecks make it different from other vampy purples we've seen in the past.

One thing is for sure, application here was a breeze. I only needed two coats, and the formula was excellent. Just the right level of thickness and easy to apply. If you get Taboo, you do not need to fear bad application.

So overall, I'm glad I got this in a swap. I will definitely keep it, but I'm not sure it's worth $27! Still, a lemming satisfied is a good feeling! I just have to get rid of my Chanel Azure lemming now, yikes! Taboo is still available on Chanel.com if you just can't get past your desire for it.

I know it's only Thursday, but do you have any fun plans this weekend? I do... I'm going to look at kittens on Saturday!!!!! Some of you may remember that my kitty Marbles, my best friend for 17 years, passed away about a year ago. I still am so thankful for all of your support and kind words during that time. I now feel like I am finally ready for a new kitty and there are a bunch up for adoption from a local cat rescue project, so I am SO EXCITED for Saturday! Whenever I find the right kitten for me, you can expect about 3 billion pictures LOL!

I am on a mission to get some of my untrieds posted here. I am not the worst person I know in terms of untrieds, I believe my untrieds drawer has maybe 30 polishes in it right now. However, I tend to let the same polishes sit untried for months, poor things! I was good this past weekend though, and wore two untried Lynnderellas. My favorite of the two was Lynnderella Beleaf Is Magic. Beleaf Is Magic is a pretty mix of neon yellow and green hex glitters in assorted sizes, small green microglitter, and some random red, pink and even some blue glitter pieces, all in a clear base. In person, the neon yellow glitter made this mani look like it was glowing! I loved it!

I used two coats of Beleaf Is Magic over two coats of Zoya Suvi for this mani. Beleaf was very easy to apply, lots of glitter came out and I didn't have to work hard to dab it on my nails. Piece of cake! I think Beleaf would look amazing over almost any green polish, black, white, and definitely pale yellow.

This little seasonally inappropriate treat is Lynnderella S.W.A.K., from the Groundhog Day collection. I did not intend for this mani to be so Valentine's Day-y. I selected OPI Congeniality Is My Middle Name as my base because I had it in my purple drawer and thought it was more of a dark red-purple, rather than a shimmery pinky red. I thought that putting S.W.A.K. over a purple would make it less Valentine's Day themed, but obviously I picked the wrong base for that! I think I will love S.W.A.K. in February LOL! Here is Lynn's description of this complex polish: "S.W.A.K. (sealed with a kiss) is another liquid valentine multiglitter: assorted red, white, pink with a hint of gold in a base spiked with hot pink shimmer. Also contains scattered pink, white, red and gold hearts."

S.W.A.K. was pretty easy to apply, I think it was harder to get all of the larger pieces on the nail than it was with Beleaf Is Magic. Not hard, just not as easy as Beleaf. This is basically one dabbed coat of S.W.A.K., with a little bit of a second coat, mostly to get that white heart on my ring finger and some more white pieces on the other nails.

I really like both of these Lynnderellas, I think I'll love S.W.A.K. a bit more in the proper season. I would wear Beleaf any day though!

I knew Lynnderella Sugar Bunny was the first polish I wanted to wear from the Lynnderella Everything's Coming Up Neon collection. Sugar Bunny is a gorgeous, spring-y looking mix of white and neon glitters in a soft shimmery sheer white base. I hadn't done a good jelly sandwich in awhile, so I decided to use OPI Don't Burst My Bubble from the Oz collection to sandwich Sugar Bunny. When I finished the sandwich, it looked gorgeous and glossy, but for some reason I wasn't feeling it. I grabbed my favorite matte top coat, KnockOut Cosmetics Flatte Top, and had at it. I love the result!!! For some reason, I just really like this matte! Don't get me wrong, it looked great shiny too, but I think I was just in a matte mood.

Sugar Bunny was super easy to apply with the dabbing method. Let's be real here, if you're not dabbing your heavy glitters on, I think you're causing yourself a lot of unnecessary frustration. This is really one dabbed coat, plus a few strategically placed glitters for the second coat.

I purchased Lac Attack Beauxbatons Academy with my money. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

I love being a nail polish blogger, but sometimes with swatching all of the latest collections, it gets really hard to wear all the polish I really want to wear. For example, I purchased the entire Lac Attack Magical Musings collections back in December when it first came out, and I've only worn two polishes from it!! The Magical Musings collection is based on the Harry Potter books, so I instantly knew I NEEDED the whole thing. I need to make wearing these pretties a priority now! Lac Attack Beauxbatons Academy is the second polish I tried from the Magical Musings collection (Holidays In Hogsmeade was the first). I saw swatches on some blog of this polish worn by itself and I really wanted to wear it that way. The base of this polish is this awesome very pale blue gray jelly and it looks really unique by itself. Beauxbatons Academy has lots of small blue and white glitter, with some yellow and even a few orange-y looking glitters thrown in there.

Now for the disclaimer: this is four coats of Beauxbatons Academy. The base of this polish is very sheer on the first coat, and still fairly sheer for the 2nd and 3rd. The fourth built it up to a nice level of semi-opacity, where I could see some VNL, but I really liked the squishy appearance. I did not mind doing 4 coats, because the polish applied really well with regular brushstrokes and dried quickly too. But I think most people would want to layer this over another polish so that you don't have to use 4 coats. If you don't mind doing 4 coats though, the effect of the squishy base is totally worth it. It is incredibly gorgeous! I wore this for four days with no chips and hardly any tip wear. This is an impressive feat for me, as nothing lasts very long on my nails. I usually want to wear something else after wearing a mani for a day, or it chips after a day or two. But I really enjoyed wearing this one!

Revlon Haute Tropics Collection Part 2!

Revlon Secluded Beach is a pretty pinky-purple-y nude taupe kind of color. It's a nice alternative to pink or nude for work, as it has a bit more interest, but is still very subdued. There is a lot of gorgeous purple shimmer in the bottle, but it really doesn't show up on the nails. I only caught a glimpse of it in direct sun and even then it wasn't too noticeable. I like this color for when I need a non-flashy manicure, but if I could see the purple shimmer more I would LOVE it!! It would be an absolute knock-out with more obvious purple shimmer. It's still a pretty interesting color though, sometimes it looks more purple, other times more taupe.

Secluded Beach was pretty easy to apply, it was a little thin, but not in a bad way. I needed three coats for full opacity. It still had a hair of VNL after two coats.

Being the huge sucker for orange polish that I am, I obviously love Revlon Mai Tai Ask?. Mai Tai Ask? is a gorgeous bright red-orange creme. Do I already have ~~14 polishes~~ a polish this color? Probably. Does that stop me from hoarding red-oranges and wearing them constantly in the summer? No!

Mai Tai Ask? has an excellent formula. So pigmented, I used two coats, but it could almost be a thick one-coater. It is a little thicker than some of the other polishes in this collection, but I found that actually worked to it's advantage. I was able to get nice and close to the cuticle with no trouble at all.

Revlon Hello, Bali is an interesting red-purple crelly (creme and jelly). I was expecting it to just be a creme, but you can see it has decidedly jelly-ish tendencies. I absolutely love what Revlon was trying to do here. This particular shade of purple in a crelly finish would be stunning if the formula was a tad better. I don't think I own a crelly in a shade anything close to this, so I'm still pretty excited about this one.

Hello, Bali was very thin and runny. It flooded my cuticles a couple times during these swatches. It also was hard to get it to look even. You can see the color is more concentrated in some areas than in others. That being said, the color is gorgeous and I do love the squishy finish!

Overall, I definitely recommend checking out the Revlon Haute Tropics collection. If you missed my swatches of the first three, you can see them here. I love all three blues and the orange especially! Perfect summer colors!

Revlon Haute Tropics Collection, Part One- The Blues!

The Revlon Haute Tropics collection is exactly what I want in my summer polish collections. To start off with, the name "Haute Tropics" makes me imagine that I will wear these polishes during glamorous steamy summer night parties at the beach. In reality, I will be wearing them while sitting at home sweating my butt off very unglamorously, but at least I'll be admiring my nails. Secondly, this collection has six shades and three of them are blue or blue-green. WIN! Of course, I had to swatch the three blues first! The first beauty I tried was Revlon Coast Is Clear, a gorgeous pale blue-green with a light smattering of silver shimmer. Coast Is Clear is so gorgeous! This is kind of what I wished Essie Turquoise and Caicos looked like, but on me that is just a watery mess (and it's way more sheer).

I needed three coats for Coast Is Clear, it is on the sheer side. It was a champ at self-leveling though and that prevented a lot of streaks from happening. The application was good, no real problems. Any streaks that I thought would happen disappeared, thanks to the aforementioned self-leveling. (By the way, Revlon says that is from their exclusive "silk-protein shield" that instantly helps to even out the surface of the nail while smoothing away bubbles, streaks and brush marks! I say it works!).

Revlon Lagoon Afternoon is STUNNING! Unfortunately, my pictures are NOT accurate at all. This rarely happens to me and I am so MAD. I wanted to capture Lagoon Afternoon in all of it's teal creme-y beauty and I failed. I never adjust the color of my photos when I edit (I just crop), but in this case I had to try. I would say the first photo is closest, but it is still too blue. Lagoon Afternoon is a really nice mix of green and blue, and it's very unique in my collection. My pictures make it look pretty average. Try to see this one in person, it's pretty accurate in the bottle.

This picture is color corrected and weird looking. I was trying to show you that there are green tones here!

Lagoon Afternoon applied really well and had the same great self-leveling as Coast Is Clear. I used three coats, but I probably could have done two easily. I hadn't had all of my coffee yet when I did this, so my first coat was strangely applied (my fault). Also, I LOVE the name "Lagoon Afternoon". Revlon Plunge Pool is an amazing deep blue shimmer! This color looks like it's glowing in person!! I'm sure this isn't the most unique shade in the collection, but it's a shade of blue that always grabs me. It's deep and jewel-like, but not too dark that you want to save it for winter. The shimmer is so nice and smooth looking, it really does make me want to go swimming.

Plunge Pool has an excellent formula, it practically painted itself on my nails. It only needed two coats (it was nearly a one coater), and was easy to control. I would definitely suggest taking a look at this lovely blue.

The three blues from Revlon Haute Tropics are instant favorites for me. We all know I'm a sucker for blues, and these are lovely. Lagoon Afternoon is quite unique and the other two are shades that I can never get enough of and have good formulas to top it off. I also learned that Revlon has been free of DBP, Toulene and Formaldehyde since 1992! This is really cool, because all this time, I thought I had been wearing chemical-laden polish as a child, but I actually wore mostly Revlon polish! So, I may not develop an 11th toe later in life after all! I'll have the other three shades in this collection up in a day or so, and they look pretty nice too.

China Glaze Hologlam Infra Red

After basically foaming at the mouth over the China Glaze Hologlams for what seems like months, when swatches finally started to surface, I was kinda meh about the whole collection. I didn't run out to buy any of them, but recently I ordered two on Amazon because I had an Amazon gift card burning a hole in my pocket. Today I'm wearing China Glaze Infra Red, the polish I was most looking forward to from the Hologlams. Infra Red is not really red, it's more of a slightly reddish magenta holo. The holo is subtle and hardly visible indoors. The first two pictures are outside in the sun, the one right below is outside in the shade.

Infra Red was pretty easy to apply for a holo though. I did not use any base coat or top coat, I never do for holos. I feel like it usually just makes a mess of them/makes them harder to apply. This is just two coats of Infra Red and it's pretty well pigmented. I do usually do slightly thicker coats with holos too, thin coats lead to patchiness in my experience. The picture below is in direct sun and is the most holo I saw this polish look the whole time I wore it.

As others have noted, if you're looking for blinding rainbows, look elsewhere. For a smooth velvety, subtle holo, the China Glaze Hologlams may be worth a shot. I like Infra Red a lot now that I am over the disappointment of these not being super holo.

I got this press release from Zoya today and normally I might not post it, because it's not really new info. But, when I posted my swatches of the Zoya PixieDust colors, I hadn't really worn them for any length of time. I have since worn a couple of shades as full manis and have to say, the wear time is EXCELLENT! Today I have the second part of my Zoya Irresistible swatches, starting with Zoya Bobbi. Bobbi is a very bright and shimmery hot magenta foil metallic. I know a ton of people who really love to rock a magenta in the summer and they will really love Bobbi. It seems like a really saturated jewel-like color and despite the fact that pink is not my favorite polish color, I really like Bobbi!

Bobbi was also nicely pigmented, needing only two coats for full coverage. The formula was great, just like the first three polishes I tried from this collection.

Although I feel like I've seen polishes similar to Zoya Hazel, I just can't stop myself from drooling all over this beautiful blue foil metallic. Hazel has the same kind of cool coppery/gold flecks in it as Rikki. I think you can actually see these flecks in the macro shot below. You can only see them in person if you look hard, but they definitely add extra sparkle and make the finish a little different than other polishes in this same color and finish.

Hazel's formula is amazing too, so easy to work with and only two coats to perfection. The picture below just makes me want to go swimming in my nails... LOL, not weird at all.

Zoya Kerry is an interesting yellow gold foil metallic. Kerry has a slightly different finish than the other Irresistible polishes. Zoya calls it a "microfoil metallic". It's kind of like tiny little flecks of metallic shimmer. I love yellow golds, so I like Kerry a lot! It is a big brighter than these pictures show, I think my camera was a little confused by the "microfoil".

Kerry definitely needed three thicker coats and it was the least pigmented of the whole collection. I thought it was pretty opaque at three coats, but like Tinsley, in direct sunlight, I could still see some VNL. Application was fairly easy and good, you just will need an extra few minutes for the extra coat or two.

Overall, my favorites of the Zoya Irresistible collection are Rikki, Hazel and Amy. Quite frankly, I wanted Bobbi to be a favorite so that I could type "my favorites were Rikki, Bobbi" *says in weird accent* (Talladega nights anyone?). Anyway, if you're a fan of Zoya's foil metallic finish, you will definitely like these lovelies. I am not altogether sure that they scream "summer" to me, summer colors to me would be brighter. This won't stop me from wearing these pretties though (I think Rikki would be fabulous at Christmas actually!). Last week, I showed you Zoya's lovely Stunning summer cremes and now it's time for the shimmering part of Zoya's summer offerings, the Irresistible collection! First up we have Zoya Tinsley, a rose gold foil metallic. I am a fan of Zoya's foil metallic finish, it's very very shimmery and doesn't have some of the downsides of more traditional foil finishes (like patchy spots). The Zoya foil metallics always apply smoothly and look gorgeously sparkly. Tinsley is no different, it has some gorgeous gold shimmer action going on!

This is three coats of Tinsley. I did feel I needed a third coat for full opacity. This finish always dries really quickly and is easy to apply though, so three coats wasn't a hassle or anything. Even at three coats though, in direct sunlight, I had some VNL remaining (as you can see below). However, this had a very nice consistency, not too thin or thick, just perfect.

Zoya Rikki is right up my alley, a green foil metallic!! Zoya calls it "fern green", doesn't that sound gorgeous? Rikki is an interesting polish. Indoors, it looked like a green with a lot of silver sparkle, but outdoors I noticed some larger coppery looking flecks that are hard to see, but definitely provide something extra. If you look closely in my pictures, you can see what I mean.

Rikki applied really well in just two coats. Nice coverage, nice consistency. No problems here!

Zoya Amy is a drool-inducing juicy red-orange foil metallic. It has lots of pretty gold shimmer that really looks perfect with this shade of orange. I am a big orange polish lover, and if you are too, you need Amy in your collection! The finish of this one looks smoother than the finish of Tinsley and Rikki. The shimmer in those looks a bit chunkier to my eye. Amy almost reminds me of a glass fleck finish, rather than Zoya's foil metallic finish.

Amy had the same really nice consistency as the other two. I did three coats because I thought two still had a little too much VNL. If you tend to do thicker coats, two will probably be fine. Amy was more pigmented than Tinsley at both two and three coats.

I'm looking forward to swatching the other three polishes in this collection! Zoya's foil metallic finish is always pretty, and I love these summer colors.

Lumina Lacquer Mint Chocolate Chip

I blame Tatiana from Lumina Lacquer for the carton of mint chocolate chip ice cream in my freezer right now. We all know I'm in a mint phase right now, and mint chocolate chip is actually my favorite ice cream flavor anyway, so when I saw Lumina Lacquer Mint Chocolate Chip, I knew I needed it! I can't resist a polish with MINT GLITTER HEARTS!!!! Tatiana describes Mint Chocolate Chip as "a mixture of different shapes (hearts, flowers, hexes, and circle glitter) in mint, baby blue, white, and brown glitters". Happily for me, I got a lot of those cool shapes on my first try! I got a mint heart (swoon) on my ring finger, a couple of baby blue flowers (you can see one on my pointer), several hexes, some white satin stars and many other beautiful glitters. She doesn't mention this in the description, but there is a gorgeous sprinkling of iridescent glitter in this that really catches the light in person.

I wanted to show this over both a creamy color and also a chocolate brown, so I went with a chocolate brown accent nail. I think the mint glitters really pop on the chocolate brown (Zoya Dea) and the effect on the creamy color is so soft and pretty. Despite being chock full of shaped glitters, Mint Chocolate Chip was easy to apply when dabbed on. Tatiana recommends dabbing with all of her polishes, as I do with any glitter-heavy lacquers. I dabbed on one coat for coverage and then went back and added some more fun shapes in the second layer. The shapes are plentiful and are not at all hard to get out of the bottle (one of the many things I love about Lumina Lacquer polishes!). Also, I almost never comment on the wear time of polishes, since almost nothing lasts more than 3 days on me, but I wore this mani for more than 4 days with no chipping and maybe a hint of tip wear.

Mint Chocolate Chip is currently out of stock, but I'm sure she will restock soon. I suggest liking Lumina Lacquer on Facebook to stay updated on the latest news! Lumina Lacquer is available on Tatiana's Big Cartel store. I will have to order 1000 Julys whenever she restocks, it is GORGEOUS!!

Some Spring and Summer Comparisons For Ya!

My first summer collection comparison is OPI Jinx and Zoya Destiny. These two are very very similar. To an extremely discerning eye, OPI Jinx is slightly darker and has a bit more golden sparkle. In these pictures, I had been wearing Zoya Destiny for 3 days (only a teeny bit of tipwear!) and OPI Jinx for about half an hour, so the OPI does dry down even more. Destiny might be a tad warmer of a shade. All in all though, I'm sure you won't need both.

OK well, these two are so close that I actually had to write down which finger had which polish on it because I was afraid I would forget before I could write the post! OPI Can't Find My Czechbook and Zoya Rocky are near perfect dupes. In person, I would say the OPI is a teeny bit brighter and the Zoya a little bitty bit darker and dustier. Again, you probably don't need both unless you're crazy about this color blue. Personally, I can't decide which to part with, so I will probably keep both. What can I say, I am a blue ho.

No dupes here, so I didn't even swatch them. If you want to see them swatched, just let me know in the comments. I am also a green ho, so even if these were vaguely similar (they're not), I'd keep them all. Mojito Madness is even brighter and darker than it looks here, while Josie is dustier and lighter.

Zoya Yana and Nicole by OPI A Like-Haley Story are similar, but not dupes. The NOPI has a lot more shimmer, especially in person. The finish is totally different. Yana's shimmer is that super smooth kind that you barely notice, whereas the NOPI is little mini flakie sized shimmer. They are a similar bright pink color though. I think Zoya Yana is slightly warmer and A Like-Haley Story contains more blue. Unless you really love pink, you probably don't need both, but they are not dupes.

There's usually at least one polish per Zoya summer collection that has me drooling right from the very first promo picture. This year, it's the lovely Zoya Josie! Josie is an excellent grassy green creme. Well, I say grassy, but whose grass is really this color? Definitely not mine! Maybe my crazy neighbor who spends 5 hours a day working on his lawn and mowing it 6 times a week... Moving back to Josie, this is such a pretty medium green. Not too dark, not too bright, a little hint of dustiness. Even better, it appears to be unique in my collection!! I have a comparison post in the works, but it is totally different from Essie Mojito Madness, if you were wondering.

This is two easy coats of Josie. No problems here! Just nice application and great opacity!

Zoya Rocky is another one of those colors that I just love! I know I already have several medium bright blue cremes similar to Rocky, but I adore them all! Who doesn't want to wear this color in the summer? I love this kind of blue on my toes.

Rocky was also super easy to apply. Just two coats, no difficulties at all. My one note (and the reason Rocky and Josie didn't get excellent ratings), is that I felt these two were maybe a tad thick. It was not a problem now, but may eventually make application a little harder/require thinning.

Zoya Yana is a bright pink creme with some visible shimmer. Zoya calls this "geranium pink" and I can see that. This kind of not pale, not too dark creme is always popular during the spring and summer months, so check your stash for something similar. I like the shimmer in Yana a lot though. It reminds me of that understated Chanel shimmer. Very elegant looking! I'd be interested to see this compared to Chanel Fracas, although I don't own it myself!

Yana was pretty easy to apply, though I found I wanted to add a third coat to really hide my nail line. Two thicker coats would probably be fine. I think the shimmer in this made it even smoother to apply than Josie and Rocky.

My top picks from the Stunning collection are Josie and Thandie. I also really love Darcy and Rocky, but fellow polish ~~hoarders~~ enthusiasts may own similar shades. If you are a lover of pink, you will especially love Yana and may like the carnation-y Micky too. If you have any suggestions for comparisons, please let me know, I will check my stash!

Revlon Lash Potion Casts a Spell on Me!

Revlon has a new mascara coming out in May called Revlon Lash Potion by Grow Luscious. I don't know about you, but "new mascara" is always more appealing to me than the mascaras that are currently available in stores. I don't think I have ever re-purchased a mascara from the drugstore. There are so many varieties, I really just like getting a different one (or 3) each time! Plus, I'm always looking for MORE length, MORE volume. I like a DRAMATIC mascara that says "YO, I HAVE AWESOME EYE LASHES!". Will Revlon Lash Potion be The One?

Above is a picture of my sad and lonely lashes with no mascara. It pains me to put this picture up here. My lashes are fairly long without mascara, but they are very light-colored and from any distance, are basically invisible. Therefore, I do not leave my house without mascara.

Revlon calls the Lash Potion wand the "Illusionist Wand". The Illusionist Wand is a triple groove bristle brush. Revlon says the wide grooves "instantly coat lashes in formula for maximum volume". I'm a fan of bristle brushes, rather than the rubber brushes that we have seen a lot recently. I never seem to get good volume from the rubber ones.

Revlon sent me Lash Potion in Blackest Black (it's like they know me! I always buy the blackest color, despite my see through natural lash color). These two pictures show just one coat of Revlon Lash Potion on my upper lashes. I have been wearing Lash Potion for about a week now and REALLY love it!! It is very lengthening, as you can see. It adds some volume and thickness, definitely enough for me for everyday. For special occasions, I might mix a volumizing mascara with Lash Potion for even crazier results. Since Lash Potion arrived, I have not touched my other current drugstore mascaras. Honestly, I didn't like them a lot to begin with and Lash Potion blows them out of the water.

Revlon says that Lash Potion "drenches lashes with a potion of strengthening proteins for captivating volume and length" and that the formula "conditions and moisturizes so lashes are less brittle". I do think Lash Potion provides great length and good volume, almost rivaling my beloved DiorShow. As for the claims that it moisturizes lashes, I have noticed that I don't seem to be shedding as many lashes when I remove my make-up at night. I don't know if that's necessarily connected to this mascara, but I'll take it!

Check out my complete EOTD above, with Lash Potion on both top and bottom lashes. Revlon Lash Potion comes in blackest black, black, and blackened brown. It also comes in a waterproof version in blackest black and blackened brown. I tried the non-waterproof version and wore it to several very hot dance classes with no running or streaking. I also never had any flaking with this mascara (thank goodness, I can't STAND that!).

I honestly think I will purchase this mascara when it comes out in May. As I said before, I normally don't get the same mascara twice, but I've had a bad streak with mascaras recently and it's nice to find a good one! Revlon Lash Potion will retail for $7.99 and be available at drugstores and mass retailers, as well as on revlon.com.

Don't those bottles look gorgeous all lined up together?!? I love Zoya's summer collections every year, but the Stunning collection really seems to include ALL of the colors I want to wear this summer (green! blue! yellow! orange!).

Zoya Darcy is a pretty sunflower yellow creme. It's nice and bright and cheery looking! It also looks a bit different than other yellows cremes I own, I think maybe a bit darker, with a golden tone, rather than a creamy tone. Almost murkier looking, rather than clean. It's still quite bright though, not muted! I love yellow polish, so Darcy is just what I want to see in a summer polish collection.

Yellows are notoriously streaky and hard to apply, and Darcy is not really any better. My brush also had some splayed bristles, exactly what you NEVER want in a yellow polish. Yellows are hard enough to work with, adding wonky brush bristles is really a pain! This is three coats. Two was fine for opacity, but I needed a third to even out some streaks. I don't think Darcy was the worst yellow creme I've ever used, but not the best either.

Zoya Micky is a carnation pink creme with a hint of coral. Zoya actually describes Micky as an "amazing coral cream", but it looks a lot more like pink on me personally. To me, coral has more orange and a bit of red too. Micky is a nice pink shade for pink lovers though, kind of warm and not bubblegum-y. Micky has a whisper of shimmer in the bottle, but it doesn't really translate to the nail.

The brush in my bottle of Micky also had a wonky bristle or two and I had a hard time getting Micky to be streak-free and smooth. This may have been the brush's fault, but I have a feeling it may be the formula. I also found Micky to be a bit less pigmented than I have come to expect from Zoya cremes. This is three coats and I felt I did really need the third, both for opacity and streak smoothing!

Zoya Thandie is easily my favorite of these three polishes, both for the color and the formula. Thandie is a dark creamsicle orange creme, not as light as what we usually describe as "creamsicle", but it still has that kind of feeling to it. It has a muted quality, but also manages to be bright. I have a LOT of orange cremes, but Thandie is pretty unique! I think you have to see it in person to get the bright, yet soft quality about it! It also has some ribbons of shimmer in the bottle. The shimmer is slightly more visible than the shimmer in Micky, but you wouldn't look at Thandie and call it a shimmer finish.

Thandie was pretty easy to work with. No wonky brush bristles, and it had no streaks (yay!). I used three coats, but you could probably do two thinner coats.

Of these three, Thandie is my obvious favorite, although I adore the sunny yellow of Darcy. I can't wait to try the other three Stunning colors!!

China Glaze Lemon Fizz and Lynnderella Sweets to the Sweet were both purchased with my own money. All opinions are my own honest thoughts.

I've been dying to try to get Lynnderella Yellow Baby Bunny Candy for over a year now, but Lynnderella LEs are never easy to get. Now that all Lynnderellas are sold on eBay, I keep getting outbid on my precious Yellow Baby Bunny Candy. However, I recently bought the regular collection polish, Lynnderella Sweets to the Sweet. Sweets to the Sweet is a classic Lynnderella color from the Lovely Is As Lovely Does collection, released sometime around January/February 2012. It contains various white glitters in a shimmering sheer white base, with assorted green, purple, lavender, red, and blue glitters tossed in the mix. It always reminds me of candy wrappers! I started thinking that maybe using a pale yellow creme under Sweets would look like my beloved Yellow Baby Bunny Candy!

I dabbed two coats of Sweets to the Sweet over China Glaze Lemon Fizz, and what do you know?? It DOES look like the gorgeous Yellow Baby Bunny Candy!! Now, if I had the chance, I would still buy Yellow Baby Bunny Candy. I am on a mission to own all of the yellow polishes Lynn has ever made. But if you already own Sweets to the Sweet and a pale yellow creme, this may be a great substitute for you! Sweets to the Sweet has plentiful glitter and was very easy to apply. I did use the dabbing method, as it makes life so much easier!
