Peacable Kingdom - Seeds for the Birds Board Game Review

I love discovering new and unique board games to play with my family. A great company to find family friendly games for kids of all ages is Peaceable Kingdom Press. Their games are often educational and always fun. They recently released a new line of cooperative games that teach children the power of teamwork. One of their newest games is Seeds for the Birds, which we received to review. Right off the bat, I knew I was going to love it because the game is 100% green. The cardboard is made from recycled materials and there was no plastic wrapper. It was a winner before we even started to play!

For our review, we received the Seeds for the Birds board game, and my preschooler loved it. The birds and squirrels are characters that appeal to younger children and keep them interested. In the game, you have to turn over a card. If its a seed, you place that number of seeds in the bird feeder. If its a bird, you gather some seeds to feed the bird. But be careful because the little squirrels are after the nuts too. If the squirrel gets more seeds than the birds, the squirrel wins the game. So the players all have to work together to make sure the birds get their full. Its a fun game that teaches math skills, and encourages team work.

AGATHA CHRISTIE’S POIROT Series 1 and 2 DVD Review

I have always been a fan of Agatha Christie. I have read many of her books, even though they would probably be considered "before my time". Most of the copies I have are yellowed with age, but a good story is timeless and Agatha Christie is a writer for all generations. But one thing I didn't know until recently is that she also had Acorn has taken some of her characters and made them into their own television series. Only the British could find a way to take a classic mystery novel and turn it into an equally entertaining series. And that is exactly what they've done with the Agatha Christie's Poirot. They have brought the Belgian Detective to life, right now to his classic mustache. And now you can get the DVD pf both Series 1 and 2 of Poirot thanks to Acorn Media which will be available starting January 31st. Here is a little information about the releases.

Our Thoughts: I was lucky enough to get to try the Green Tea Clarifying Shampoo and Finishing Cream Rinse. I have always been a fan of green tea because of its natural healing qualities, but had no idea it would make such a great shampoo. I am always looking for natural products for my family, especially for my baby. His sensitive skin needs special attention. I personally do not have stretch marks, which I know is a miracle after four children, but it smells wonderful and leaves skin soft.

Our Thoughts

Luden’s Vitamin C Drops: I have never been a big fan of citrus, but I have to say, these taste pretty good. Each one provides you with vitamin C, but they taste like candy. So its easy to get my children to take them. I have been using them myself and I think that is the main reason why I am the only one in the house to escape the latest round of sickness.

Chloraseptic Warming Sore Throat Lozenges: My husband was the first to bring home the bug, and when he was whining (men are such babies) I handed him this package to try out. He said it worked within seconds and his throat felt better instantly, and the relief lasted for several hours.

Our Thoughts

Sometimes I think my toddler has OCD. She refuses to eat her food if there are two things touching each other. So she absolutely love the Rooware plate set we received to review. It features the adorable dark haired Jaz, and it comes with two separate compartments in addition to the plate. This way, we can serve three courses and each has its own spot. The dish has a higher ridge than most plates, so it makes it easier for toddlers to eat without making a mess. My son also received the Zach Roobowl which is perfect for cereal. And the tableware is just the right size for little hands to grasp. All my kids loved the fun characters and colors. But most important of all is the fact that these products are made from eco-friendly materials, making them a safe choice for my family and the earth because they are non-toxic and biodegradable.

Ocha Baby Organic Tea-Dyed Baby Clothes Review & Giveaway

I love finding companies that offer unique and adorable baby items. I can't get enough cuddly toys, soft blankets, and adorable little outfits. I think every new mom feels that way. For our review, we received an adorable long sleeve tan onesie that was custom made just for Nicky. It is embroidered with the letter N in blue. These beautiful letters are made using up-cycled vintage baby blankets. The onesie fits with just a little room so I know we will get lots of use out of it. Its made from soft organic cotton so its gentle agaist a newborn's skin. The beautiful design does not fade when washed and the darker tan color keeps it from showing any annoying formula stains. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite outfits because its comfortable and stylish.

Destiny Unveiled - Rough Draft of the Cover

We are working hard on the cover for Destiny Unveiled. This is a very rough draft. The raven might change a little, and the chain for the necklace hasn't been added in yet. We are also thinking about using color in the letters of the title. We used green last time to go along with the leaves of the rose, but want something different this time. I am also considering making the moon red, but it would have to be subtle. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Of course the final decision is made by the publisher, but input is always appreciated.

Lucky Stars Ginger Spice Apple Tart. With fun and simple recipes like these, you can use them on any occasion. You can find a few how to videos of their face book page that give you tips so you can create these tasty desserts for yourself. Here is one of my favorites:

Lucky Stars Ginger Spice Apple Tart

Ingredients

1 15-ounce package rolled refrigerated unbaked pie crust (2 crusts)

2 21-ounce cansLUCKY LEAF ® Apple Pie Filling

1/2 cup butter

1 tablespoon finely chopped crystallized ginger

1 tablespoon vanilla

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

Butter-flavor nonstick cooking spray

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Frozen whipped dessert topping, thawed, or vanilla ice cream (optional)

Chopped crystallized ginger (optional)

Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Let pie crusts stand at room temperature according to package directions. Unroll one of the pie crusts. On a lightly floured surface, roll crust to a 13- to 14-inch circle. Transfer pie crust to a 10x2-inch round tart pan with removable bottom or a 10-inch deep-dish pie plate. Trim crust to the edge of the pan. Set aside. 2. Unroll remaining pie crust. Using a 2- to 3-inch star cutter or other desired cutter, make 5 to 6 cutouts in the pastry. Set pastry and cutouts aside. 3. In a large saucepan heat pie filling, butter, 1 tablespoon crystallized ginger, vanilla, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and fresh ginger over medium heat until butter is melted, gently stirring frequently. 4. Pour apple filling into pastry lined tart pan. Place the pastry with the cutouts atop the filling. Trim pastry to edge of tart pan and gently press the top pastry to the bottom pastry to seal. If using a pie plate, fold top pastry under bottom pastry and pinch to seal; crimp edge as desired. Place star cutouts atop the pastry, leaving most of the openings in the crust exposed. Lightly coat pastry with nonstick cooking spray. In a small bowl combine sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over pastry. Place tart on a foil-lined baking sheet. 5. To prevent overbrowning, cover the edge of the tart or pie with foil. Bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil. Bake about 10 minutes more or until pastry is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool on a wire rack about 1 hour. Remove sides of the tart pan. Serve warm. If desired, top with whipped topping and additional crystallized ginger. Makes 8 servings.
