But the real highlight wasn’t even in the packages. Right in the middle of filming, the Chinese food delivery arrived. The delivery lady took one look at my mom’s basil plant and asked if it was marijuana. You can’t hear it in the video, but it was too funny not to mention.

Fan‑favorite Fernando was back today for another round of unclaimed mail, and he did not disappoint. His reactions alone could carry a whole series, but the items themselves were pretty entertaining too.

Today’s haul included:

A mystery object which had us completely stumped on camera.

We twisted it, flipped it, stared at it, and still had no clue. Only after filming did we look it up and discovered it was a Mahjong Rack Set. Mystery solved.

Today’s unclaimed‑mail haul came with a little bit of cute and a whole lot of questionable. This batch included:

A tiny red one‑piece
A “Ralph Lauren” sweatsuit
A “Victoria’s Secret” sweatsuit

Both designer items were very obvious counterfeits. The decals said Ralph Lauren and Victoria’s Secret, but the fabric was cheap polyester, the stitching was rough, and the tags read Made in China. Not exactly the luxury experience they were pretending to be.

Counterfeits are pretty common in unclaimed mail, but these two weren’t even trying to hide it.

First up was a face exfoliator which he inspected like it was a power tool. Next, he pulled out a frying pan which he passed on to my mom since she does the cooking like any good Italian Nona.

And finally, the star of the show: a cowgirl jacket that he attempted to model for us. Emphasis on attempted. It was about three sizes too small, but he still it a try like he was auditioning for a Western fashion show.

Today, the word narcissism usually means an unhealthy obsession with oneself. The idea comes from the ancient Greek story of Narcissus, a beautiful young man whose name became tied to vanity and self-love.

Most people know the version told by the Roman writer Ovid. In that story, the nymph Echo falls deeply in love with Narcissus. She tries to show him her love, but he rejects her. Heartbroken, she disappears into the woods until only her voice remains. Later, Narcissus comes upon a pool of water and sees his reflection staring back at him. According to the modern version of the myth, he falls in love with his own beauty, unable to look away. In some tellings he wastes away beside the water. In others, he drowns trying to embrace the image. Where he dies, a flower grows, and it is named the narcissus.

Another version adds an interesting detail. A goddess asks the lake why it cries for Narcissus. The lake replies that it mourns him because, in the depths of his eyes, it could see its own beauty reflected back.

Stories change over time. Cultures reshape myths to fit their own values and beliefs. When we look deeper into older versions of the Narcissus story, a very different picture begins to appear.

The Greek writer Pausanias recorded an older tradition in which Narcissus had a twin sister named Narcissa. The two dressed alike, hunted together, and were inseparable. Anyone who has known twins understands how close that bond can become. According to this older account, Narcissus loved his sister deeply. When she died, he was overcome with grief. He would kneel beside the water, staring into it because the reflection reminded him of her. He was not admiring himself. He was mourning someone he had lost.

Over time, Narcissa disappeared from the story and was replaced by Echo. The meaning of the myth changed with her disappearance. What may once have been a tragic story about grief and memory slowly became a warning about vanity and selfishness.

Some ancient versions even suggest that Narcissus and his sister were lovers. To modern readers this may seem shocking, but sibling marriages were not unusual in parts of the ancient world. Myths often preserve fragments of older customs and beliefs that later cultures no longer accepted. As societies changed, stories were rewritten to match new ideas about morality.

This happened in many myths. Characters were transformed, condemned, or rewritten to serve later religious and cultural views. Medusa is another example. The original stories became buried beneath newer versions shaped by fear, morality, and judgment.

The myth of Narcissus also connects symbolically to mirrors, reflection, twins, and the constellation Gemini. Water acted as the first mirror long before polished glass existed. Reflection itself carried symbolic meaning in the ancient world. The story may once have explored memory, identity, grief, and the mysterious bond between twins.

But today the myth is usually reduced to a simple lesson: self-love is dangerous. The older story, however, may have been far more human. Instead of vanity, it may have been about sorrow. Instead of pride, longing. Instead of selfishness, the unbearable pain of losing someone who felt like part of yourself.

Thrift Store Haul — St. Barnabas Cares

Today’s post is a little different, but absolutely worth sharing. My favorite local thrift store, St. Barnabas Cares Clothing Thrift Store, had a huge sale last week and every single item in the store was just $1.

For $26, I walked out with an entire wardrobe, accessories included.

What I love most about St. Barnabas is that their prices are always amazing. They never charge more than $5 for anything, even on regular days. All proceeds go directly to the church food bank, helping local families right here in Cape May County.

Not only am I a regular customer, but I also bring them tons of donations, including any mystery‑box items that aren’t claimed by my family or coworkers. Nothing goes to waste, and everything helps someone.

Today I opened up a box from Unnboxed, a newer mystery‑box company that’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. Their standard box is only around $35 with free shipping, and this one was packed full of goodies.

Everything inside was on the smaller side, but the value definitely added up to more than what I paid. Some of the highlights included:

Luggage tags
A stone bracelet
Beauty products

Pretty much everything inside was claimed by my family and friends, so nothing went to waste, always a win in the mystery‑box world.

One thing I love about Unnboxed is that every month they give away a high‑value item to one lucky customer. For June, the prize is an iPad.

Today I unboxed a Labyrinth‑themed mystery box from Stylin Boxes, and this one hit me right in the Gen‑X heart. Stylin Boxes is known for their fandom‑themed mystery boxes, curated collections, and limited‑edition drop. They have everything from horror to anime to classic cult films.

This movie has always been one of my absolute favorites, and most Gen X kids grew up half in love with Jareth, half terrified of him, and fully obsessed with the soundtrack. So opening this box felt like stepping straight back into 1986. This one was pure magic. I can’t wait to show off everything that was inside. Check out the video.
