This week we're headed to Michigan to try some tasty brews from Brewery Vivant, sent to us by Chris Carr, who is AWESOME! We try a great Quadruple called Hubris, an 11.5% Belgian style treat. After the break we crack open a Tart Side of the Moon a dark Farmhouse Ale coming in 9.8% and just absolutely fantastic.

Stephen has a stroke apparently, John has no idea where Montana is and Matt just dances and uses big words.

This week we visit the nearby city of Temecula, in our studio, via beer, brought to us by the Temecula Beer Ambassador - John Ryti (@TemAmbassador). We start off with Refuge Brewery, and their Refugee Tripel, a 9.0% Belgian Strong Ale. Then we go off to a personal favorite of Stephen's the IronFire Brewery 51/50 IPA. A 7.2% West Coast Style IPA that is as close to perfect as you can get. Last but certainly not least, we dive into the Aftershock Brewery Espresso Stout. An 8.0% American Stout who's delicious aroma and flavor blend together to bring out an amazing experience with this beer.

Matt thinks clean t-shirts are douchie, John needs no glass to enjoy beer, and oddly enough Stephen doesn't do much of note on this episode.

This week we're hanging out with Cameron Collins, organizer of the Brew Ha Ha and associated events. We're chatting about how they are bringing awesome beer events to the Orange County area, and while we do that, we're drinking some delicious Almanac Beer Company beer, the Barrel Noir. A fantastic barrel aged blend of Imperial Stout and Belgian Dark Ale.

Stephen will cuddle you so hard, John has no idea what going on in his mouth, Cameron is special, and Matt is nowhere to be found.

On this weeks Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Stephen joins Bill for an amazing cigar pairing. We're enjoying Bootlegger's Brewery Imperial Black Phoenix, a chipotle coffee stout, paired with a Four Kicks cigar from Crowned Heads.

We're in Massachuttes, not really, to drink some East Coast beers, yes really! We're taking on Clown Shoes Chocolate Sombrero Double Stout, a delicious 9% ABV Mexican Style Chocolate Stout.

Stephen can't be bothered to read the labels cause he's been doing the robot all day, John pours himself the lion's share, and Matt wants to do the Harlem Shake, by himself.

This weeks Master Pairings with Dr. Bill has John over for some Carne Asada burritos and Sierra Nevada's Ruthless Rye, and both them show an impressive display of bilingual food discussion.

Stephen tries to be Ron Burgundy and is instead reminded that he needs to go rewatch that movie and hang his head in shame.

This week is St. Paddy's day! Enjoy the holiday made for drinking .. responsibly. By responsibly I mean don't drink green beer! NO! Stop it. Oh and don't drive and stuff.

This week, we allow the beer to take us on a journey to Oklahoma, to try out a couple of delicious Oklahoma brews from a gypsy brewery called Prairie Ales. We start off with the Prairie Ale, a delicious Farmhouse style Saison, and then head into the Prairie Hop, which is the hopped up version.

Stephen almost pops his top, but in the end expresses his gas the best he can, Matt finds a guy who knows he loves Saison, and John says "Yueah!".

This weeks Master Pairings with Dr. Bill has Stephen visiting the kitchen for a delicious pairing of Stone Brewing Co's Enjoy By 04.01.13 with an aged white chedder as well as a "Citrus Crush", a delicious sweet treat from So Rich!!! Chocoloates ( http://www.sorichchocolates.com ), white chocolate with crystalized grapefruit. Bill and Stephen have a discussion about who the best IPA producers are in the craft beer world right now. What do you think? Tell us in the comments who you think is the best IPA brewer.

We give Prairie Artisan Ales some shit about their caging process, and their website, but their beer is FANTASTIC, and we highly recommend you grab a bottle if you see it on your local liquor store shelf.

Feb 7 : Magic Rock Brew Co : on Location at Churchill's : special guests Richard Burhouse and Stuart Ross

This week we travel down to Churchill's Pub and Grille in San Marcos, California, to meet up with the owner Rich Burhouse and the brewer Stu Ross from Magic Rock Brewing Co. They brought a selection of their west coast inspired, brewed in England beers.

We start off with the High Wire, a 5.5% hop forward West Coast Pale Ale that brings citrus flavors balanced with a smooth malt base and a deliciously crisp finish.

Next off we jump in with Cannonball, a 7.4% IPA, high in alcohol and massively hopped.

Lastly we try the Magic 8 Ball .. a 7.0% Black IPA.

Stephen falls into random bad english accents, Matt wishes he would stop it, and we all learn about CAMRA, rocks, crystals, and that "healing shit" ..

This week we check out a great imperial stout from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co, called Narwhal, which is also a fish that looks like a unicorn. We also check out an older selection with a bottle of Fritz & Ken's 30th anniversary Stout.

This week we're celebrating Christmas .. a few weeks early. We'll be doing some time specific shows the next few weeks. So this week we crack a delicious holiday ale from Alesmith Brewing Co, Yule Smith Ale, an Imperial Red ale that rings in the holiday with hoppy deliciousness!

Stephen didn't get to dress as Santa, but brought the hat, with a mickey flare, Alesmith makes Matt a hophead, and John is just over Christmas.

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Matt joins Bill out in the backyard for another amazing cigar and beer pairing with the Bruery's 100% Barrel Aged Autumn Maple with the Illusione MJ12. MJ is short for Majestic, and the Majestic 12 was the code name for a group of scientists, politicians and military personnel that investigated UFO activity after the infamous Roswell incident. Matt's a hipster, apparently, and Bill teaches you how to retrohaling, blowing cigar smoke out through your nose without inhaling.

Stephen's beard is back, sort of. We remember Brad Kohlenberg, Matt is a whore who needs to go back to his whore island, and we all masticate openly.

Stephen is beardless, and sad about that, Matt really wants KC to get the sunshine band back together, and John thinks they should have planned all the Kansas' better.. and Stephen learns never to send half naked pictures of himself to John, since they will end up on the show.

This week, we continue our round of episodes from Denver, and this time we're at Prost Brewing Company. We chat with owner Troy Johnson about what to expect from this new, traditionally German brewery.

The Brewery was made by the Ziemann GmbH in 1963. It was installed at the Bucher Bräu in the German city of Grafenau and used there until 1984. In 1984 it was overhauled and sold to Brauerei Hümmer of Breitengüßbach, Germany, a village in the Franconian region of Bavaria. Brauerei Hümmer started brewing beer in the Franconian village of Breitengüßbach in 1642. The brewery served the town for over 350 years until the spring of 2011. It made several styles including Altfränkisches Dunkel Bier, a rare specialty beer that we will revive in Denver.

Prost is a new brewery joining the fine collection of Craft Breweries throughout Denver, and is a must stop while you're in he Denver area.

This week we're at GABF, and rather then wander the floor like we've done in years past, we are hanging at one of the main hubs of the week long festivities that surround the festival every year.

We drink a fresh hop beer from Rogue brewery, while we chat with Chris Black, owner of Falling Rock (@FallingRockTap), and PJ Hoberman (@hookedonwinter) from Denver off the wagon ( http://www.denveroffthewagon.com/ ) about all the crazy events that are happening throughout the week of GABF.

Since we're in GABF, rather then a Master Pairings, we join Dr. Bill for his epic annual rare beer tasting in the basement of Falling rock where he'll be pairing several hundred sweaty beer drinkers with 4,000 dollars worth of the rarest beers around! It's a crazy event and you're missing out if you don't check it out next year!

This week we come into the final days of Oktoberfest, so we take a virtual trip to Munich for some Oktoberfest fun! Of course, we have to do the original Oktoberfest beer from Spaten Brewing.

John calls out Bill, Matt is easily impressed and Stephen insults all the ladies .. again.

On Master Pairings we keep the German fare theme going ... sorta, Stephen joins Bill in the dining room, for a tasty Chicken Schnitzel, and a Belgian Triple (huh what?). We enjoy a tasty bottle of St. Feullien Triple and Bill gives a short lesson in how to celebrate Oktoberfest properly.

Stephen loves battered and deep fat fried anything, but won't touch a pig knuckle, John wonders about the etymology of pig knuckle eaters, and Matt just wants the giblets in his mouth.

This week we sample a couple of great beers from the cellar .. first a 2008 Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer from Brouwerij Het Anker, followed by a 2010 Palo Santo Marron from Dogfish Head, both provided by Rob Hill the master of beer at Total Wine and More.

Matt missing in action, Stephen wants a job where he travels around drinking beer, oh wait ... and John waits to open the beer only to be sprayed with it.

We had planned on a Master Pairings with Rob and Bill, but unfortunately, due to the loss of one of our own, Sammie, we weren't able to film. We will be filming some more Master Pairings soon though. RIP Sammie, you'll be missed.

After the break, we drink the ever delicious Palo Santo Marron, and talk about some of the really cool things that are going on at Total Wine and more and why that matters to a craft beer drinker like you!

Sept 20 : NZIPA and Message in a Bottle : Epic Brewing Company

This week we go EPIC with two great beer from the other side of the world. NZIPA & Message in a Bottle from Epic Brewing Company in New Zealand. We also have a great special guest, Carlos Granillo (@Loszilla4sho), he smokes meat.

Message in a Bottle is a delicious old style IPA brewed in the style of the first IPA's brewed in New Zealand in the 19th century.

The guys don't rinse, Stephen get's interrupted, Carlos and Matt are just doing their own show for awhile and John just wants Carlos' rub.

Instead of Master Pairings, which we promise is coming back next week, we talk a bit with Carlos about his new catering company Big G's BBQ ( big.Gs.BBQ.00@gmail.com ) and make jokes about meat, rub and being 12.

The NZIPA is a great IPA brewed with a brand new hop that has never been used in a commercial beer before, and hence it has the "First Batch" moniker.

We're still putting the details together for our bottle share on Wednesday night during GABF, so stay tuned.

This week we enjoy a bit of classic Belgium delicious, with a delicious Quad from St. Bernardus, the Abt 12.

Stephen is the king, but can't pronounce Westvleteren, John chews double bubble bubble gum & hates god, and Matt is finally wearing an NBT shirt.. FINALLY.

We do a bit of a comparison of this beer and "Westy" 12, since they are nearly identical and Abt 12, in all it's deliciousness, is widely available rather then the impossible to get Westy.

Again, no Master Pairing this week, we apologize, but we are going to be filming them in a week so we promise Bill will be back soon!

We're going to be at GABF .. of course. We're also going to be throwing a small pre-GABF bottle share (not a Bartels & James party) on Wednesday night, so we will be posting more details on that soon!

Sept 6 : Invasion IPA and Super India Pale Ale : Mikkeller and Alpine/New Belgium Brewing

This week we do another twofer, an Invasion IPA from Mikkeller beer, not a collaboration but the first Mikkeller beer that was bottled by Mikkeller in the US. Since we have no Master Pairings this week, we decide to break out another beer, and choose Super India Pale Ale by New Belgium and Alpine Brewing Company.

Stephen hates Mikkeller, but not really, & John didn't swallow and Matt excites the beer to point of a explosive climax!

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, oh wait .. we don't have a Master Pairings this week. Sorry. We promise they'll be back as soon as possible.

We move the show to the ghetto and the sirens make the audio have a hissy fit!

Stephen can't open the second beer, since he doesn't understand the concept of fancy bottle openers, but we eventually get the bottle of this triple dry hopped Super India Pale Ale brewed by New Belgium and Alpine Brewing Company.

John has numb tongue, Matt wants face ripping bitterness, and Stephen is somewhere in the middle.

This week Stephen is in Nebraska, so he joins in via skype with Head Brewer Tyson Arp from Nebraska Brewing Company, and we drink some Fathead, a delicious Scotch Ale/Barleywine.

Stephen and Tyson are in their own "state" of mind, literally. Matt and John hang out in the studio back in California and we try to make a show work from many states away!

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Bill is joined again by Chris White from Golden State Cigars, and they pair Pliny the Elder with an amazing Casa Magna Poquito cigar. While a lighter cigar is generally called upon for a Double IPA pairing, this full bodied full flavored cigar brings a little something extra to the table.

This week we drink a classic favorite in the craft sour beer world Kriek 100% Lambic from Cantillon brewery, and since we we're ready to quit puckering we followed it up with a new sour release from The Bruery, Sans Pagaie. Pucker up buttercup, this show is sour!

Stephen's still sporting the extreme ginger look, Matt wants to feed the sour monster within him, and John pours early cause he wants the best lambic in the world to breathe a bit.

On Master Pairings, Bill is joined in the kitchen by Stephen, sans red hair, for a delicious pairing of Green Flash Rayon Vert and Sushi! Also we introduce Bill's newest family member IPA .. IPA is a dog. ;)

After the delicious sushi, Stephen spills the money shot, won't pronounce the beer properly, and we all get a bit more funky with the Bruery's Sans Pagaie.

Aug 2 : #IPADay 2012

It's #IPADay - version 2 - last year was such a great success it, of course, needed to happen again! This year we pay homage to a couple of the non-traditional version of IPAs out there. We start off with a traditional IPA from Speakeasy, Vendetta, and then move on to an Indian Brown Ale, from Dogfish Head, which is a combination of a brown ale, a scotch ale, and dry-hopped like an IPA. Lastly we dive into Wookey Jack from Firestone Walker, a delicious rye Black IPA.

We woo hoo, a lot. Matt has way too many keys, Stephen makes up beers but knows his damn candy bars, John has no respect for the wine world and hates Belgians ..

We talk about the craft beer conversion process, and the road "generally" taken. We'd love to hear your conversion path! Tell us in the comments.

This week we break out one of the best sours in the country, Blueberry from Cascade Brewing Co. We're joined by a member of the #PDXBeerGeeks, Duke Geren (@dukester), who an expert on all things Beer in Portland.

Matt farts from his penis, and rudely pours his glass first, Stephen decides to be all over Matt's balls, Duke wants the yeast shot, and John just wants everyone to "Chill Yo!" ...

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Matt joins Bill in the kitchen for some curry! A spicy Panang curry with chicken over rice. Of course, Sriracha is in play to bring up the spicy! All of this is paired with a fabulous wheat doppelbock from Schneider and Sohn brewing, Aventinus.

July 19 : Row 2 Hill 56 : Russian River Brewing Co.

This week we're drinking a delicious, newly bottled, hoppy treat from Russian River Brewing Company, the Row 2 Hill 56. A tribute to the amazing hop Simcoe, and the location in Yakima that this hop had first been created. Special thanks to Mike Sardina (@msardina) for getting this beer to us!

Stephen is an attention whore, no shock there, John's never seen Blazing Saddles, WTF?!, and Matt wants to throw hops at Vinnie from Russian River, in a fanboy sorta way ..

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Laurie Delk is back in the kitchen with Bill, for some Pizza .. with Anchovies, garlic and Jalapenos. Bill pairs that with a fabulous Barley Wine from Avery Brewing Co, Hog Heaven.

After Master Pairings, we agree that we hate anchovies, and they are salty, John thinks anything Vinnie can do, he can do too.. Stephen doesn't really think this beer sucks and Matt has a watery mouth.

This week we're going to Belgium ... metaphorically. We're drinking an amazing Gueuze from Gueuzerie Tilquin called Oude Gueuze Tilquin à L'Ancienne.

John drinks beer in Seattle, Stephen hates the literal-net, Matt won't pour his beer, and we have a fly as our special guest!

We reminisce about our first Gueuze experience and lament the back sweetening of Lambics from certain lambic producers, and speculate about the Gueuz'ing process, while Stephen gueuzes all over Matt.

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Stephen joins Bill as a co-host rather than a guest for an awesome pairing of comfort, rainy day food. He takes Stone Brewing Co's Arrogant Bastard and pairs it with Tomato soup and an amazing gourmet grilled cheese sandwich.

This week we're still hanging out in San Diego during the Craft Brewers Conference, and we're hanging at Small Bar with the Hop Cast! The Hop Cast brought us some delicious 3 Floyds brewing co Zombie Dust, an amazingly hoppy pale ale.

We apparently trade Matt to Goose Island for the Hop Cast, Stephen has drunk all the beers, and Ken and Brad have some shout outs!

While drinking this "West Coast " style pale ale, we reignite the "should it be called West Coast Style" and Ken is tricked into saying "Poo Pooed", while we compare attitudes of Hoppy Beers throughout the country.

This week we're in San Diego for the Craft Brewer's Conference, so we took some time to sit with Greg Koch from Stone Brewing Company, and Brandon Sieminski from Iron Fist Brewing Company to talk about what they will take from the CBC back to their brewhouse's.

We enjoy this discussion of the CBC from the larger brewery vs smaller brewery perspective while enjoy a traditional favorite from San Diego, Stone's Pale Ale.

This year , the CBC also hosted the World Beer Cup, so we also take a few minutes to talk with Luke Nicholas, the "god of Epic", to get an idea of the judging process in the World Cup and how all that works.

Stephen is clearly hung over, Matt can't nail down his grammar, Brandon refuses to woo, and Greg's in a kilt!

This week we enjoy the 13th Anniversary ale brewed by Stone Brewing Co for Bottleworks in Seattle WA. A crazy brew that incorporates 13 different grains & 13 different hops.

We also have a special guest on the show, Sean McNew ( @wagnis83 ) a buddy of ours from the area to help us drink this tasty treat.

John reads the bottle, which doesn't leave Stephen impressed at all, but what does he know, he compares this beer to Chimay Blue with smoke, so we leave it to Matt to describe the real flavor of this beer.

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Stephen joins Bill in the kitchen for some Calzones, that do not contain any oysters or brussel sprouts. The Calzone is paired with a delicious St. Martin Dunkler Bock from Aktienbrauerei.

Apr 05 : From the Cellar : Cuvee de Tomme : 2002 & 2012

This week we visit Dr. Bill's "new" cellar to open a couple of amazing beers from Lost Abbey .. we start off with a silver foil 2002 Cuvee de Tomme and then complete it with a side by side of 2012 release of Cuvee de Tomme.

Matt was going to join us, but he found a comfortable spot on the floor of Bill's living room and sawed some logs instead of coming out and drinking with us. Bill expertly demonstrates how to save a cork that has disintegrated over time. Sami, the pooch, joins us to chill on the floor.

This week we enjoy a couple of fantastic saison style beers from a new co-op brewery out of Oregon called Logsdon Farmhouse Ales. Logsdon, founded by David Logsdon who originally founded Wyeast.

John actually thinks Stephen is funny, Matt's got his baby face on, and none of us are suggesting that brewers have sex with sheep.

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Stephen joins Bill in the fridge for a dish that he actually likes going into the pairing. Spaghetti Carbornara paired with Spaten Optimator.

After Master Pairings, Matt needs to calm down .. Stephen crosses the line .. again, and John obsesses about how long to let his Saison age.

This week we're drinking a delicious blood red ale Evil Twin from Heretic Brewing Co. the newish brewery from everyone's favorite home brewer turned pro Jamil Zainasheff.

Stephen pours for hours, Matt determines a home brewer pecking order and John kills bugs.

When we finally get around to drinking beer, Stephen asks the audience a random question for the week ... Should every overly hoppy beer be deemed a West Coast Style? Submit your answers to us at comment@newbrewthursday.com.

On Master Pairings Bill makes Stephen finish all his vegetables, with a pairing featuring a Rauchbier from Aecht Schlenterla and some deliciously cooked brussel sprouts. Stephen stalls for as long as possible before realizing that Bill makes a mean brussel sprout.

Tomorrow, Friday March 23, head over to Beachwood BBQ in Long Beach to hang out with Jamil Zainasheff and drink this same beer we drank.

Mar 15 : Hopocalypse : Drakes Brewing Co

It's the Hopocalypse! We're drinking two amazing IPA's from Drake's Brewing Co, the Green label double IPA and the Black label triple IPA. Which Stephen immediately declares being as good or better then the Pliny equivalents.

Stephen is moody with IPA's, John doesn't want to say "Bam" and Matt is giggly.

In the kitchen, Dr Bill brings Stephen in for a Master Pairings of Oysters on the half shell with O'Hara Dry Irish Stout. Stephen is afraid of the Oysters, and the fish mongers ... and swears never to eat them again, regardless of how awesome the pairing was.

After Master Pairings we aimlessly banter about a completely different Master Pairings that you may remember from our Hopslam/Abrasive Ale episode.

Stephen can't drink World Wide Stout, which deeply offends Matt, and John just thinks that Stephen needs to sit on his bottles.

John gets to drink a new beer ( Black Label Hopocalypse ) as well as a new hop, Zythos .. so he is very excited. Matt is excused while we have a Pliny the Younger comparison discussion.

In the end we all agree that you need to get your hands on some Drake's!

This week we're joined by Matt Bonney and Sean Paxton at the Hard Liver X BarleyWine Festival at Brouwer's Cafe, while we sip on the winning festival beer, Lost Abbey Brandy Barrel Aged Angel's Share.

We talk about the judging process for the festival, the differences between traditional Barleywines, and what we expect to find with them these days, and the incredible variations between different Barleywines.

On Master Pairings, Stephen leaves the table to care for other business, and Matt, Sean and Dr. Bill enjoy the second place beer, Firestone Walkers Abacus ( yes, Abacus the 2011 version, not Sucaba ). They pair this delicious barleywine with a fabulous barleywine cheesecake with Chambord cherries, which they all feed to each other.. huh?

After Master Pairings we go outside and interview some of the fans of Hard Liver waiting in line to get in and enjoy some of the 62 barleywines on tap for this event at Brouwer's Cafe.

Last year during our visit to Seattle for the Ninth Annual Hard Liver festival we visited one of the most beautiful cellars in the world, but never got a chance to release the show. Since we are headed back up to Seattle for the Tenth Annual Hard Liver Barleywine festival, we decided to finally invite you into this epic cellar .

Matt Vandenberghe - AKA Vern - owner of the world renowned Brouwer's Cafe, and Bottleworks in Seattle, joins us in his private cellar for three amazing beers that have been beautifully aged ..

We start off with a 2003 Old Wooly barleywine from Big Time Brewing Company, followed by a 1998 Thor's Hammer, a barleywine from Hagar's Brewing Co in Vancouver BC. Last, and certainly not least, we enjoy a 1997 Batch 26 Hair of the Dog Adam.

If you are in the Seattle area this weekend, or can get yourself up there, make it a point to get over to Brouwer's Cafe this weekend ( March 3-5 ) to sample more then 60 barleywines and enjoy some amazing food and great people!

Feb 23 : Larger : Epic Brewing Co. : with Special Guest Tim Mather from Untappd

This week the Beer Mule brought New Zealand to us delivering a Larger Lager from Epic Brewing Co. A delicious example of an Imperial Pilsner, inspired by Panzer Pilsner from Julian Shrago, brewed with a wonderful combination of New Zealand and US hops.

Stephen teaches the internet about imperial whatevers .. John's pretty sure that New Zealand beers have New Zealand Hops, Matt is uncomfortable with beer butts and Tim destroys our dreams about our check-in entries.

We announce a very cool international competition from Epic Brewing Co .. it involves checking into beers on untappd, with a picture, and t-shirts. Luke explains it better.

On Master Pairings, John brings Bill a bottle of Larger which he masterfully pairs with a huge cracked crab. It was big, and scared Stephen who had to leave the room. John's a cracked crab virgin and enjoys the experience of having to work for his food.

After Master Pairings we finally get around to talking about the beer, which we determine to be delicious, and dangerously easily to drink at 8.5% ABV.

This week we head deep into the heart of Texas ... with a delicious Rye IPA from Jester King Craft Brewery in Austin, Texas, Wytchmaker.

Matt gets lost on a train, Stephen fondly remembers Pee Wee Herman, and John measures distance in bedrooms.

We're joined by John's brother, and Stephen's roommate, Aaron Holzer who was busy drinking absinthe when we called him to fill in, so everything tastes like black licorice to him.

On Master Pairings John joins Dr. Bill in the kitchen for a delicious pairing of Tri Tip smothered in Kansas City BBQ sauce with Firestone Walker Robust Porter. The pairing, and Bill's cooking, render John speechless, and Sammy waits patiently for someone to notice him and let him join in.

John drools over his photography, Stephen begins to respect Texas thanks to craft breweries and we are all affected by labels on a beer.

Stephen fights the fact that his voice is going away, Matt proves that he is not ready for sith dark lord status, and Maria and Brian regale us with weird tales of travel around the country.

Dec 22 : Gingerbread Ale : Bison Brew : Craft Beer Cocktails with Aric Mellott

This week we enjoy a Festivus for the rest of us! Aric Mellott, or as you may know him Phatemokid on the interwebs, joins us for a crazy celebration of craft beer, and since it's Aric, we have to make cocktails.

We're drinking a delicious beer from Bison Brewing called Gingerbread Ale, a cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger creation of amazingness. Matt's a girl, Stephen threatens to blow everyone up, and John feels sympathy for Matt's broken foot.

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, he is joined by John Holzer, and they drink a great Rye Porter from a brewery in Denmark, the Amager Rye Porter. Bill pairs this with Bacon Toast... yeah. Bacon Toast.

We come back to make cocktails and discuss the wonder root, Ginger! Here is the fabulous recipe for the Gingerbread Flip!

1 part ginger simple syrup
2 parts Sailor Jerry's Spiced Rum
4 parts Bison Gingerbread Ale
1 whole egg
Nutmeg or Cinnamon for garnish.

Instructions:
Make the simple syrup with 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and 5-10 pieces of finely sliced fresh ginger; boil for 10 minutes, strain and chill. “Dry shake” the egg, the rum, beer and the simple syrup to emulsify the ingredients.
Add in ice, shake vigorously, until chilled, and strain into a glass. Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.

Matt wants me to suck the head off, John gets splooged on, Stephen suffers through cocktail making hiccups in high speed, and Aric wonders if these bitches be crazy!

This week we drink some delicious Allagash Brewing Co Confluence, an amazing sour produced in Maine with noble hops, pilsner malt and Brettanomyces.

John declares that there shall be no Tron or Star Wars references, Stephen makes them anyway, and Matt make Dr. Bill cry.

On Master Pairings, Randy Clemens join Dr. Bill in the kitchen for another delicious pairing. This time, rather then a blatant Sriracha pairing, they enjoy some Maple bars with Anchor Steam Our Special Ale. Then, of course, they add Sriracha to the Maple bar .. which requires that they bring a different brew to pair, which do you think it would be?

This week we visit Germany, and drink a classically delicious Doppelbock, from Ayinger brewery, called Celebrator Doppelbock.

We talk German music, legos set to German music, and Goats.

Matt is disappointed that he's never been hit in the chest by a Goat, John thinks he is a goat, and Stephen wonders how he became the sane one on the episode this week.

On Master Pairings, we set up shop in Dr. Bill's new kitchen and the world renowned Randy Clemens joins us for an amazing Sriracha pairing from his book 'The Sriracha Cookbook: 50 "Rooster Sauce" Recipes' .. it's freaking amazing, and you should definitely go buy his book immediately. Of course, he also pimps out the Stone Book he was also involved in writing.

Stephen talks about his online friend Teresa, who he randomly ran into and learned a new word from... John rubs one out, but claims he rolling dice and Matt earns another beating.

This week we visit on of our favorite Fall/Winter Seasonal beers, Dogfish Head Chicory Stout.

Matt thinks he's a longshoreman, but he's actually a gangsta hipsta, Stephen thinks he is on tour with Depeche Mode, but he's actually a southern chicory lvoer and John thinks both of them are crazy!

Stephen, in rare form, joins Dr. Bill for a master pairing with Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale and a delicious creamy clam chowder and while enjoying this delicious pairing busts Bill's balls.

After the break, Stephen tries to remember reading, John never buys 60 minutes IPA, Matt giggles about Stephen's ramblings.

This week we head over to the newest craft beer / fine dining establishment called Playground. We hang out with Head Chef/Owner Jason Quinn and Jarred Dooley the director of Libations, while we enjoy a fantastic bottle of Acer Quercus from The Bruery, and talk about their new venture.

Jason, former owner of the Lime Truck and contestant on the Great Food Truck Race, is creating a dining experience that unlike any other and his staff are all as dedicated to this experience as he his. Jarred, formerly of the Bruery and an integral part of the video "I am a Craft Beer Drinker", tells us about his plan for the craft beer selection at Playground.

We also discuss the amazing Acer Quercus and how that collaboration came about between The Bruery & Lawson's Finest Liquid.

This week we celebrate International Stout Day with three amazing stouts. We feature beers from Williamsberg Alewerks called Café Royale, Tröegs Java Head, and, what's International Stout Day without a bottle of The Bruery Black Tuesday.

We contemplate Guinness being barrel aged, Stephen gets overly excited about Java, and makes the guys jealous by talking about Firestone Walker XV anniversary blend.

Stephen provides pro-tips for buying Black Tuesday online for next year, Matt flips Stephen off, Stephen tells him to stick it up his ass, and all of this done while John is trying to talk. Hugs ensue.

This week, we're finishing up our tour of Colorado that we did during GABF, with a stop at the Crooked Stave Artisanal Beer Project, and some brett beers with Chad Yakobson.

Chad, aside from being an amazing new "sour" beer producer, is also an expert in Brettanomyces, and brett fermentation. He is also, with Crooked Stave, changing the way that we look at Brett beer creation.

This week we spend the day at the Bruery bothering Tyler King, and drinking one of his most tasty beers, Oude Tart.

We don't stop with just one Oude Tart, we decided to a vertical, including the original homebrew recipe from Tyler .. in a plastic jug.

We also spent part of the day brewing a special pilot batch of beer with Tyler, that will hopefully find its way on tap in the tasting room in a few weeks.

We talk about the incarnation of Oude Tart, how they make it, and a bit about how Tyler originally came up with the recipe and brewed it.

Lot's of ball busting and drinking of great beer is had.

This week, we get a new intro, welcome Stephen back from the midwest, say goodbye & cheers to Brad, and drink some delicious Tallgrass Brewing Oasis.

Stephen talks about his trip out to the Great Nebraska Beer Fest, how much he loved the Nebraska Brewing Co, meeting the Roaming Pint ( theroamingpint.com ), and drinking a massive amount of awesome beers.

Tallgrass Oasis is a Double ESB/IPA which has a great malty flavor and aroma, with a background of agressive hops. Amazingly well done.

For Master Pairings, Dr. Bill gets a new intro as well and John gets a lesson in camping. At least in what to eat & drink when camping. Dr. Bill pairs S'mores with Life and Limb 2 from Sierra Nevada and Dogfish Head. John also gets a classic lesson on how to make the S'mores.

Finally we bid farewell to our brother in beer, Brad Kohlenberg. Cheers brother, we miss you!

Sept 1 : Cellar Door : Stillwater Artisanal Ales

Stephen gets controversarial, Matt disowns him as a friend, and John is disgusted ...

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, Stephen meets up with Bill in the kitchen for some ... Spam and Eggs. Dr. Bill pairs this with a Samuel Smith English Pale Ale. Stephen discovers a love, or at least a tolerance, for spam.

Aug 25 : Barrel Roll #2 Humpty Bump : Hangar 24 Craft Brewery

This week we enjoy number 2 in the Barrel Roll series from Hangar 24, the Humpty Bump. A Belgian Strong Golden Ale brewed with apple cider & caramelized sugar, and then aged for 8 months in oak bourbon barrels with Brettanomyces.

Stephen complains about apples, but eventually acquiesces that this is a great beer, once he's actually able to get the bottle open. John and Matt fight over the pronunciation of Acetaldehyde.

Stephen then joins Dr. Bill for a Master Pairings. Bill takes a fabulous collaboration beer from Stone Brewing Co, Baird, and Ishii brewing, the Japanese Green Tea IPA, and pairs it with Firecracker Shrimp.

In the end, Hangar 24 Humpty Bump is a tasty treat and you should run out to your favorite craft beer bar on Saturday the 27th and pick up a bottle or two.

Aug 4 : International #IPADay

It's #IPADay! This week, we celebrate the first ever international #IPADay in epic fashion ..

Since #IPADay is about celebration and partying with your favorite hoppy beverage, we got a couple of our friends together and threw an IPA party.

We talk about the history of IPA's, why they are called IPA, what IBU's are and why you should care about how many IBUs are in your favorite hoppy treat.

We start the party with a collection of hoppy goodness from Founder's Brewing Company. We do their single IPA, the Centennial IPA, their double, Double Trouble, and their triple, Devil Dancer.

Next we head over to the Atlanta, Georgia for a delicious Sweetwater IPA .. a clean, refreshing and slightly sweet IPA that makes you want to sit by a pool and let the day go by.

Then we fall down the rabbit hole with New Holland and their crazy Mad Hatter series of IPAs. We start off with single Mad Hatter IPA, and the Imperial version, both small bottles. Then we dive into the big bottle series of Mad Hatter, with Farmhouse Hatter, Rye Hatter, Black Hatter, and Oak Aged Hatter.

We also discover that New Holland let's you play word poetry with your bottle caps! EPIC. So we put it on you, come up with something awesome from our bottle caps : "precocious", "s", "of", "Dragon's", "mouth", "never".

After coming back from wonderland we head over to the shire, avoiding dragons and evil wizards to do battle with Hop Zombies .. If that sounds too epic .. you're right, it's Epic Brewing's Hop Zombie, one of the most aromatic commercially available IPAs I've ever had.

Lastly we chill on the beach with Karl Strauss, enjoying some Tower 10 IPA a great example of the west coast IPA style, and then some Boardwalk Black Rye a fantastic black IPA with Rye.

July 28 : The Winners! : NBT / Bison Brew Home Competition

This week we announce the winner of our organic homebrew competition! We also drink three beers from our runner's up.

The first beer we drink is Cardamon Wit, a 5.3% ABV WitBeer, from Peter Kennedy of Simply Beer.

We then jump over to Kelsey McNair's from North Park Brew Co who sent in a tasty raspberry stout. A 7.3% American Stout made with the new San Diego Super Yeast from White Labs.

Our last runner up was Geoff Randolph, who sent us the Return of the Rook .. A 6.5% ABV Porter, that Stephen keeps insisting is a Russian Imperial Stout.

We then take Kelsey's beer and Geoff's beer and blend them together to create a super beer that will blow your mind!

Lastly, we drink the winning beer ... which you will have to watch the show to hear about. ;)

In this show we also have Brad's Hand, a discussion of 4 AM Denny's experiences, and Matt watches Brad orgasm.

July 21 : Old Stock Ale : North Coast Brewing : Cigar & Beer pairing

This week we proceed with part 3 of our Cigar and Beer pairing series on Master Pairings with a 2009 Cellar Reserve Old Stock Ale from North Coast Brewing Co.

We talk about the line between Old Ales and Barley Wines, Viscous being an aroma, and whether Steroids taste good or not.

We pair this beer with a selection of cheese and chocolate treats. A Blue Stilton Cheese, some chocolate covered toffee and some dark chocolate covered caramel.

On Master Pairings, Dr. Bill is joined by Tatiana Peavey from FugglyBrew.com and James Sunderland from the Tobacco Barn. They enjoy their own bottle of 2009 North Coast Old Stock Ale and pair it with a Reserva J21 Tatuaje Cigar.

This week we're in San Diego at Blind Lady Ale House (BLAH) with Lee Chase, former head brewer at Stone Brewing Co, and current owner/brewer for Automatic Brewing Co.

Lee talks about his history with brewing and the fun that is brewing in the kitchen at Blind Lady Ale House.

We sample Tanzanian Devil, a coffee dark mild that rings in at 3.6%, has great aroma and flavor for a such a little beer.

Blind Lady Ale House is one of the best craft beer bars in San Diego, and is definitely worth a stop in for some great house beers and a great selection of guest beers.

This week we continue with Dr. Bill's Cigar pairing series with Fantôme Noël. We talk about the various food pairings but settle on our own dessert pairing, since it was so freaking hot.

We talk about the need to carry a corkscrew with you when bringing certain Belgian Beers, and how that can sometimes land you in trouble with the TSA, and is Dany Prignon the Willy Wonka of Beer?

We have an awkward intteruption that leads to Stephen getting his Men at Work on! Stephen apologies for that.

For Master Pairings, we join Dr. Bill, John Calabrese, and James Sunderland at the Tobacco Barn Cigar Lounge to see what cigar Dr. Bill would pair with the Fantôme Noël. Tobacco Barn has an amazing lounge to relax in, enjoy a fabulous cigar and allows you to bring your own bottle of Fantome with you.

As a bonus, we open up a 2009 Fantôme Noël to do a side by side of the vintages and see which we like the best!

This week Matt Becker joins us to announce the final beers from the NBT / Bison Brew Homebrew contest.
