New Church, Suffolk, will still have their service this morning as most of the roads nearby seem to have been cleared.

Please do travel carefully and if your neighbourhood is hard to escape perhaps consider a day with your family or attending a church closer to home.

Hot chocolate and other drinks will be ready for those of you who do make it in! (As well as communion and activities for the young people).

Dear Church,

We encourage all of you to join us in
seeking God’s heart for New Church

Since our re-affirmation as elders on 24 July 2011 we have been seeking God’s plans for His church. We are very grateful for the comments people made on the elder re-affirmation slips, the letters we have received and the conversations we have had with many of you. All of your contributions have encouraged us and helped us to reflect on God’s purposes.
We invite all of you to join us in seeking God’s heart for New Church and sharing the hope that you have in Christ that He will accomplish His purposes in our lives.

To provide opportunities for everyone to share in this vital process we have arranged three events when we can meet, pray and listen to the ideas, passions and hopes He has ignited in each of you.

These events are for us as elders and regular attenders of New Church to listen to God as he speaks through you, through His word and through spending time in prayer together.

To support us as a church in this process we have asked Graham Jack to lead the sessions. Graham spoke at our church weekend away in June. He is currently studying new expressions of church and has worked for many years developing leaders with Operation Mobilisation. We are extremely grateful to him for sharing his time, skills and enthusiasm for seeing lives changed.

Following these events we will meet as a church on Tuesday 18 October to share what we believe is God’s plan for the future growth of New Church. So,

Please pray for us all in church and ask God to reveal His plans for the future growth of New Church.

Please study and reflect on the things God has been teaching you over the past few months and consider how these can contribute to the future growth of New Church.

Please fill in the form below, ticking which of the events you are able to attend. Alternative email Paul Block, paulblock@newchurchsuffolk.org.uk to let him know which meetings you can make. This is to help us balance the numbers at each event so everyone is free to contribute. We will then confirm which one of the events we would like you to attend – we realise it will be much more effective to have 3 meetings of roughly 10-15 people than one meeting of 45!

The three events are planned for:

Monday 3 October, 7:45 – 9:30 pm

Thursday 6 October, 7:45 – 9:30 pm

Saturday 8 October, 10:45 am – 12:30 pm

The venues will be confirmed when we know final numbers and there will be refreshments at each event.

The elders will then lead a meeting for the church on:

Tuesday 18 October at 7:45 pm above the Great Cornard Library

Thank you again for your continued love towards Christ and your love towards one another as we seek to grow more like Him and to share His love.

Your elders, under Christ,

Chris, Matt, Stuart

Throughout August after each Sunday morning meeting we will be sharing a BBQ together at Chris & Louise’s home in Great Cornard.

Church will provide plenty of burgers, sausages, vegetarian alternatives, rolls, squash and tea. Please feel free to bring along anything else you’d like to share with others, such as salads and desserts.

Chris & Louise live a short walk from Great Cornard Upper School, please ask at church or email chris@newchurchsuffolk.org.uk if you’d like directions or help with transport.

Church starts with refreshments at around 10am each Sunday, with worship and teaching starting at 10:30. We usually finish around noon.

During August we will be having a variety of services suitable for the whole family and some weeks there will be crafts and a video for younger children. Speakers this month include Godfrey Miller, Rob McNeish, Paul Bunton, David Cornes and Nigel Ford.

Hopefully by now you’ll have read my section on the site or had a chat with me in Church and found out a little about what I’ve been doing for the past year. But you may still have questions like; What is Moorlands? What do they teach? What have you been doing there for the past year? and Why are you staying there for another two years?

If this is the case, or even if this isn’t the case please join me at Number 72, North street from 7:30pm to hear the answers to those questions and eat a little bit of cake too!

The night will be a chance for anyone who’s interested to find out more about what Moorlands is, what led me there, what I’ve been doing for the past year away from New Church and what I’ll be doing during the rest of my degree.

There will be a time for questions at the end followed by coffee/tea, cake and fellowship.

So please come along and if you really want to help me out bring a cake too!
