Tony Howson and Paul Stevens visited Kampala in Uganda and Musoma in Tanzania from Thursday 2nd February to Wednesday 8th February.

Paul writes: 

"We arrived in Kampala in the early hours of 2nd February.  We spent that day with the key people we work with in East Africa.  This was a very good time.  It was particularly encouraging hearing the questions that they were asking, as this revealed that since we were here a year ago they have changed and grown in God.  On Friday we did a pastors’ conference with over 280 people.  This was a very good time.  We mainly taught around being a leader who moves in grace.  The most encouraging part was hearing from the oldest person present at the conference on how he has been a Pharisee and preached the law instead of teaching and living out grace, and how he is going to change. He added, “If I can change so can you.”  It was amazing to see how God had impacted hearts.

"On Saturday we travelled to about 30 miles outside of Kampala, to a village.  There were about 20 pastors present.  The church building was very basic.  We were very well received.  They were hungry to be taught.  We felt that God was impacting their hearts.

"On Sunday we were at the church Abbey leads, Miracle City Community Church, which is in Nansana just outside of Kampala.  We were very well received and it was very obvious that people there see us as part of the church.  Tony did most of the preaching, at both their meetings.  It is very apparent that the people are growing and changing.  The church is also growing in numbers as well.

"Sunday evening we were at a different church in Nansana.  It is great that Abbey does not want to keep us to himself and his church, but instead is happy for us to preach at a church meeting that is only 5 minutes away from the church he leads.  God was amazing as the pastor of this church confirmed that what we had spoken was the same message that was brought in their morning meetings.  He was hugely caught by God that this is something that they need to get hold of. 

"We left Kampala feeling like things are definitely moving forward and opening up.  It is very apparent just how much God is moving and opening doors.  We arrived in Musoma, in Tanzania, on Monday 6th February. 

"While in Musoma we had the opportunity to spend some time with Daniel Ouma; Daniel is the person we work with in Musoma.  We also spoke at the church that he is pastor of.  We had a good time with the church there.  Due to increase in church numbers, because of people getting born again, for their Sunday meetings the church no longer fits in the building, so they have built extra shelter.

Higher Ground International Church, St Louis

God spoke to Joe James in 2008 about starting Higher Ground International Church. But it wasn't until 2010 through a friendship with Joan Gieson that the idea came to fruition. Joan worked for the late great healing evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman and currently travels with Benny Hinn. Joan also runs the St Louis Healing Rooms and it was here that Joe first met Joan. After several months of serving at the Healing Rooms the idea of starting a church based at the facility became a reality. In January of 2011 the church moved to a YMCA in the city of Maryland Heights and has continued to grow since then. Higher Ground's mission  'Pursuing and Recapturing the ministry of Jesus' creates an environment where His people can fall in love with Him more and more, and shine as He intended them to. With a diverse group of people and giftings Higher Ground is a fun place to be.

In February of this year, Tony Howson, Paul Stevens, and Sjored De Vor, spent a few days in Musoma in Tanzania holding 3 crusades and some teaching sessions.  The key thing for us is that when we visit these places our heart is to teach and impart so that God  continues to move and be glorified after we have left.  Since we left in February God has been moving and we felt it would be good to give an update of all that God is doing in Musoma.

The Holy Spirit has continued to move, with many people being healed and become born again.  People have started to travel in from other towns.  One week a man arrived from Kindu Bay, Kenya to receive prayer.   Another week a van turned up with sick people in it to be healed.  A man brought his  daughter "Mispina"  to the church building, she had a rope on her wrist as she had been mentally disturbed for 17 years.   She left rejoicing in the Lord, as God set her  free, she was able to walk home freely with her father without the rope.  News of what God is doing has spread, and each Sunday there are too many people turning up to fit into the church building.  The meetings are now held outside.   In reference to the trip in February Daniel says “I thank you personally for putting this gospel fire in me. It is growing day by day and I humbly look to see great things done for the Lord.” 

We hope the photos that Daniel has sent give you a feel of all that is happening.  We thank God, and give him the glory.

Tony is in the USA from the 4th of May to the 25th of May.

Here is Tonys first update from his trip so far.

Saturday (7th May) I preached for Gayle Brannan at Vertical Encounter (Detroit). I had the most freedom there ever until now, with no reference to notes. At the end almost the whole church came out for prayer and I had many words of knowledge. The church continues well (they've been running for about a year). It was obvious lives were changing under the power of the Holy Spirit.

Another telling aspect occurred before the meeting started. We were leaving the prayer time and two boys (Age 8 and *6) saw me , stopped me, hugged me and told me they missed me! I didn't feel very big - but this tells you of the love in the church. I'll be with them again next Saturday.

VISIT TO FRANCE                                                                 MARCH  2011

Below is an update from Tony and Margaret recent vist to France. 

In spite of Tony having a nasty cold for the whole time we enjoyed a good break. The first Thursday we went to an evangelistic meeting at the protestant church we used to work with. The speaker was Vincent Estherman who Tony had met many years before. We were made to feel very welcome and Vincent  brought a good evangelistic message.

On the Sunday we met at Philippe & Selina’s with the usual group plus a young guy we hadn’t met before. He was very keen to know God and turned up the following Wednesday, ostensibly to watch Manchester Utd v Marseille, but spent the evening asking Tony questions with his back to the television!

We met up with various people during the next week. On Sunday we went back to the protestant church where Tony had been invited to preach. Again we were very warmly welcomed and Loic, the leader, pointed out how appropriate it was that we were there as the work on the building was making good progress. He commented that a very generous gift towards the roof had been made by the UK churches working with NDI. Renee, Daniel’s widow, brought a prophetic word which Tony picked up on and he was free in his delivery of the word. Restoration is taking place, not just with the building!

On the Sunday afternoon we travelled to Bernieres d’Ailly, the home of Manu & Lydie Kerio, where the church with Philippe & Selina meets from time to time. There were a couple of new people (non-Christians) present and we had a good time in the presence of God.

Over all we were very encouraged and feel there is potential for a much closer working together in the future.
