Catalyst 61- name for our new facility

New Heart has a history of naming things from the prophetic voice of the Lord.

The name New Heart came from a prophetic blessing spoken over us 3 years prior to being an established ministry.

Today we have a new facility to house the ministry and in keeping with our flow the Lord has had us name the building something different from the name of the body of believers.

As we know the church is a people you are with, not a building you go to. Therefore, we sensed the Lord sounding out a name for the building that was different from the name of our gathering. While NHG will meet in this facility it is not who we are. We are New Heart Gathering that meets at Catalyst 61.

The Lord has desire for this building to be used for what He calls city church. We are to be stewards (a channel of which the gift flows) of this building and a host to other ministries in the city that have the Lord's heart for the city.

If you haven't guessed it by now, the prophetic word for the building was Catalyst 61.

a catalyst= accelerates the process or rate of change to something.

61= coming from the passage in Isa. 61 ( It is also located on Hwy 61)

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me

to preach good tidings...

to heal the broken hearted

to proclaim liberty to the captives

to open prison doors to those who are bound

to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord

to comfort those who mourn

to give beauty for ashes

to give the oil of joy for mourning

to give the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness

to rebuild the old ruins...

Put these two prophetic concepts together and you have a place that is intentioned to accelerate people's process so that they can experience all that Isa 61 says the Spirit is set out to do through His anointed.

Fear- a tell to your Assignment

Have you ever noticed how often the bible says "Do not be afraid"? Joshua was told this as he ventured into the promised land. David wrote it in many of his psalms as he was a fugitive with the malcontents in the cave of Adullam. Jesus said it to his disciples and to Jairus, who's daughter was pronounced dead but Jesus was going to raise her back to life.

There are over 2000 phobias recorded today and so, as in bible days, fear and its cousins worry, anxiety and panic are still very formidable foes to people of faith.

I'm encouraged when I find the bible characters like Timothy and David, Joshua and the disciples were dealing with fear too. After all, David slew bears, lions, a giant named Goliath. Joshua took God's people into the long awaited promised land and fought thirty some victorious battles to do so. And of course, the disciples were only accused of turning the entire WORLD upside down.

Why it is paramount for us to overcome whatever fear we are facing? It is not just for your own peace of mind but also it may very well be a major block to your calling. I would like to go so far as to say that I believe fear is a "tell" to the assignment of your calling. A tell is language that poker players are familiar with. One of the key skills most good poker players have is the ability to read their opponents at the table. When there is a nervous twitch that communicates whether your opponents cards are a good hand or a bad one, that is a tell. So I believe whatever the enemy attacks you with, fear-wise, is like a tell. It is a way to read just what God has designed you to be about in His Kingdom. And so the fear is a tell that could reveal the hand of the enemy and how he has attempted to keep you from the very thing you are assigned by God to fulfill.

In other words, whatever you are most fretful and fearful of is often a sign pointing to the assignment God has for you.

The fears you overcome can be the very ministry you help others break through.

As those fears are revealed for what they are, we have the authority in Jesus name to loose ourselves and take those thoughts captive. For it is the love of Christ that casts out fear and He has given us a spirit of power, love and a sound mind to overcome them. In Joshua 1:9 it says; "Be courageous and do not fear, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

May it be unto you according to this word.

The first Sunday of each month NHG gathers with neighboring ministries for a city-wide corporate expression.

The gatherings are currently assembled at Abundant Life on Bee's Ferry Road at 6:30 PM. NHG believes this to be a vital part of making the corporate expression as the apostle Paul spoke of in Ephesians 3:11f

We are praying that the Lord will knit us together across the greater Charleston area to make the manifold wisdom of God known in this region.

The gospel of the Kingdom

When John the Baptist came preparing the way for our Lord he came saying, "repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!"

When Jesus came his first declaration was, "the Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel."

This gospel was the gospel of the Kingdom.

When we speak of restoration of the church we are saying there is something much larger at hand than church as we have known it. There is a mindset of who we are as the church that desperately needs a paradigm shift.

We are speaking about the gospel of the Kingdom of God. A kingdom that has come and is coming until all of His enemies are under his feet. A Kingdom that has a King presently enthroned, not waiting for a bailout plan from its responsibility. A Kingdom that brings an empowerment to its operatives that will bring a cultural penetrating light to a world that is darkened in its comprehension and blinded to the reality of such a realm. A realm that is truly heavenly in nature and teaming with a life that is overflowing with joy, transforming power and freedom from limitations to knowing the heart of our God, intimately. It is progressive in nature and advancing in influence, as we speak.

Likened to a river that changes the landscape as it cuts through the terrain and washes over the rough places and makes them smooth.

This is more than a "myopic", "me- centered" gospel where personal salvation is the end goal. This Kingdom gospel involves an earth that is groaning for its redemption. A new heaven and a new earth that is awaiting its transformation. ( see Romans 8). Come visit with us for more regarding this gospel of the Kingdom.

AWC impact on City Church

We certainly had a wonderful time in the Lord with Dave and Deborah Viljoen and the AWC team this past weekend. The atmosphere was charged with an expectancy and faith for the City Church to be quickened into a boldness and assembled for action.

"Be of good courage, and let us be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. And may the LORD do what is good in His sight." (1 Chron 19:13 NKJV)

Represented in the gathering were Voice of the Lord, Deliverance Praise, River Church, Messiah's Church, Abundant Life, Dayspring, Women of Action, Crown Leadership Academy, Celebration Station, Kingdom Voice, Samuel and Geraldine Cox ministry, Church of God in Christ Knightsville and NHG. Just to mention a few.

Hearts were rent for the Kingdom expression to come into alignment with the plan of God for our city. It was such a shot in the arm of inspiration and affirmation to us all.

Many thanks to the obedience of the AWC team to come alongside and encourage us in such a fashion.

God is a rewarder

First, God is real. That is the entry point for every person being born into God’s Kingdom. It starts by believing God is real. The second one takes us a bit by surprise. You must believe that God is a rewarder. The scriptures can say just as much by what they omit, as what they actually say, and the Holy Spirit could have said anything He wanted to when this was being written. Imagine all of the doctrinal specifics that you might expect to find after the words, “you must believe _______.” You have to be totally convinced in your mind and heart that the Lord wants to reward you. He wants to give to you more than you have ever realized. All that the Lord asks is that you seek Him. It doesn’t matter if you fail or stumble, just seek Him and He will reward you. Learning to believe that God is looking for ways to give you gifts can revolutionize your faith.

If we don’t believe this fundamental doctrine, we can get stuck in an unhealthy mindset. The devil has done a great job lying to us about this subject; he has been telling us we are all one easy sin away from feeling God’s wrath. Believers all over the world feel like this everyday, and a good many would be Christians are held back from putting their faith and trust in Jesus because they think God is looking for an opportunity to drop the hammer. I was surprised, in my own life, how much I prayed, ministered, and lived under the assumption that God was more inclined to punish than to give. You don’t realize how much the religious devices of the devil have snuck in on you until you experience the freedom of accepting God’s rewards and gifts. Even more, he doesn’t want you to experience them in a trickle; he wants you to get overwhelmed in a flood of His generosity.

Since the Lord is holding his hands out to a complacent, lukewarm church, and His hands are full of rich blessings that will transform us into something glorious, then I would expect the devil to try to convince us that the “spiritual” thing to do is not ask for too much. I have seen whole congregations that have quietly given up on experiencing the glory and power of God because they don’t believe God wants to give them more than they could possibly imagine. But, when we truly believe it as a foundation of His character, it opens up a door into His presence that allows us to access all that is in the heavenly realms.

Staying passionate for Jesus

I know that the holidays can be a tough time to stay passionate for Jesus. There are so many things that vie for our attention that by the time the New Year rolls around we can feel a little apathetic or complacent. Whenever I think about complacency I am always drawn to the Laodicean church in the book of Revelation. If you read their letter in Revelation chapter 3, it is easy to see why they are known as the church that succumbed to an apathetic spirit. Looking at their example and how the Lord spoke to them can be a big help during the holiday season. Jesus knows exactly how to heal a complacent heart and bring back the fire and passion. This is Jesus’ letter to the Laodicean church
14 "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:

15 ' I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. 17 'Because you say, " I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, 18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. 19 ' Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. 20 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. 21 ' He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 ' He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'" (Revelation 3: 14 – 22)

What makes me love this letter so much is that it is possibly one of the most positive church letters in Revelation. It is less harsh in its judgments and contains more astounding promises than some of the others. Read the letter closely and look for the blessings. It is a letter that is full of gifts and promises.

I think we have been studying this letter with a preconceived notion that God is spiting them out because of sheer repulsion and is absolutely disgusted to the point of rejecting them. What is really going on is that He has a special blessing for them that not only will break them out of apathy, but will usher them into a visitation with Jesus Himself. The letter to the Laodiceans is not about judgment, it is about giving. The crux of the letter is that God wants to give the Laodiceans something radical, and He wants to do it because He loves them.

Praying for the Cookes in New Bern

Having been a part of sending Mark and Jane Cooke to New Bern NC, we want to continue to keep them in prayer. They are a special gift to the body of Christ and are in the process of establishing a re-work. They are taking an old Anglican building and doing a re-start with it.

Continue to keep them lifted up as they develop a new ministry team and help those walking through the leaving behind things of the past and pressing on to what lies ahead.

They have found a great home to rent and are plowing new ground into the city there, making connections with other ministries and edifying the body for the Lord's work in that region.

The picture is one of the ministry team there praying at the break of dawn to send prayers over the waters to Sao Tome. It was a powerful declaration as we stood as one together in prayer.

How to accept Christ into your life

The Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

We believe there is an inherent power in the Word of God in that the Holy Spirit not only inspired the written Word of God but is the teacher and guide of its applicability into a persons life. The Spirit of the Lord liberates a person from the trappings of a the life that is seperated from it’s creator so that one can truly know God relationally.

Since the original documentary concerning man (Adam and Eve), man has lost his rightful position in relationship to God. Romans 3:23 says that, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and the result of that sin is death (death of a relational, spiritual kind). However, in John 6 Jesus says the words that he speaks to us are Spirit and Life. It goes on to say that these words quicken us.

Jesus also professes that no one can come to him unless the Father draws that person. We believe that drawing to be the working of God’s Spirit on a persons life – drawing, quickening, convicting us of our sin and showing us our need for His mercy and grace.

If you are sensing those kinds of things happening in your life, we would love to talk with you more.

Email us from the “contact us page” or come to one of our gatherings. It would be a joy to talk with you about such things.

Relational House Teaching

There is a foundational teaching that we use to encompass our definition of relationships within the Church. It entails 4 houses. This teaching is much more extensive but the following is an outline of it.

House 1 = you as an individual and your personal relationship
               with the Lord Jesus Christ.

House 2 = your closest partnering relationships

House 3= your local covenanted church gathering

House 4 = the global church

(Much more to come on this teaching)

Climbing Wall

The next generation had a fun time practicing the spiritual in the physical last Sunday. We enjoyed the principle of being an overcomer, as we climbed walls together.

It was a team effort and the encouragement we gave to one another was truly inspiring. Even little Lydia made it to the top!
