Cornell & Diehl: 412A: Billy Budd

I only smoke this tobacco with a stiff drink. I find the strong bitterness of the cigar leaf is cut well with some bourbon, scotch, or whiskey. Otherwise, the flavor seems to linger on my toungue a little too long. Not an everday smoke for me, but perfect for chilly evenings by my backyard fire pit.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/p2mFCw3v8Xs" height="1" width="1"/>

McClelland: Frog Morton's Cellar

The smell out of the tin is rich and creamy with just a hint of whiskey. This tobacco has one of the best room notes that I can recall, all while not actually tasting like an aromatic. It smokes so cool that I usually end up finishing a bowl in 20 minutes. One of my all time favories.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/yRyMQiFdn0k" height="1" width="1"/>

McClelland: Club Blends: CPCC Samovar

This is the greatest Oriental blend McClelland has ever produced. It reminds me of the old line tobaccos from when I started smoking, when names like Cotton, Rattray, Sobranie and Bell's ruled, and the proper amount of preparation and maturation was taken. Either they spent a long time perfecting this blend (like the above houses did) or someone had their best day ever when they mixed this.

When I smoke Samovar, the individual components mix well into wonderful, dry, exotic flavor. While it is an excellent singular taste, the best qualities of the individual components shine through. The Orientals come through with a spicy citrus and never get sour or too hot, the latakia adds a dry smoke but does not (as many do) give a tarry house-on-fire note, the Virginias are sweet and full with no vineger or bite.

I am interested to see what a few years of aging will do to this.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/-F5kRhnQwGQ" height="1" width="1"/>

Nording: Hunter Blend: Beagle

The tobacco arrives as a broken flake, and not as wet as some
flakes can be. It is broken to the point that makes additional
rubbing out unnecessary. I usually smoke this directly from the tin
without drying, gravity filling the pipe with just a little
compacting with my pipe tool. The tobacco will expand during
combustion, so I'm careful not to pack too tightly.

The tin aroma is a slightly sweet hay, and a hint of that sweetness
is carried into the burn. I cannot pick out the spiciness of the
perique as this is a smooth and mild smoke. The tobacco is easy to
light for a broken flake and burns completely, with minimal
condensation and absolutely no tongue bite.

It is a quality leaf, but the flavor profile is a little boring for
my abused palate. I enjoy it to absently puff upon while my mind
is otherwise occupied, however it is not a tobacco that I find
myself craving.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/zA_pI_ddQfk" height="1" width="1"/>

Dunhill: Nightcap

A true prince of pipe tobaccos. I prefer to let it breathe a while before smoking. There are few gainsayers on Nightcap, and I agree with many of the positive comments. The one negative I perceive is my falling asleep whilst enjoying, and finding the pipe in my lap. No serious damage done so far. I'd rather not become one of my own customers, especially since there is so much enjoyment to be had from this particular tobacco. As a true nicotine addict, I'd happily smoke it in my morning bath.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/JTHqXwdjvLY" height="1" width="1"/>

Cornell & Diehl: Morning Drive Time

Well what can i say, i got a sample of the from Iain Walker of
Northern Briars who picked it up for the Nottingham (UK) Pipe Club.
had 3-4 bowls and its simply divine stuff. All of the flavours are
there and well balanced. The Burley is tasted on the exhale/finish,
the Latakia/English taste is wonderful and the hint of spice from
the Perique just finishes it off.

A great way to start the day and i cant help but call this the
Early Morning Drive Time (Done in a very poor morning radio
presenters voice)

If you love a good mellow English then this is a must for you. As
others have stated, this is one of the best C&D blends i have tried
(around 30 of the 260 odd they produce)<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/lDl5TQZEMRQ" height="1" width="1"/>

McClelland: Frog Morton on the Town

To start: FMOTT is NOT- it's NOT a Balkan, it does NOT smell of McC's ketchup,
and it's NOT an aromatic....what it is....is a very well - blended, sweet and tasty
English. It's the 2nd FM I have tried, better than Froggie when he was by my
camp out here in da bayou-that fo tru:)

What it is....well, its is, a very well balanced, smooth, lighter than creamy, low
level Vit N blend. It is forever slipping soft-sweet undertones of ....marshmallows
type yumminess into the high quality well prepped baccy [English ] blend.

It's akin (literally) to McC's Legend-which employs Basma's sibling Drama to
achieve a subtle earthiness. Basma is just plain sweet, but in FMOTT it's more of
a turbinado sugar sweetness, a kind alternative to casings in that it comes across
as what it is, a very sweet time-hybridized Va. It's to sweetness what Perique is to
spiceness.

I'll try the rest of Froggies blends, albeit the Stave-which I consider gimmicky, and
will then decide if its a 4. FYI, this tin was nearing 3 years in the cellar, as I have
finally learned the value of aging tins prior to smoking. Spot On McC, well done
indeed!<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/_hs0dHLO9ao" height="1" width="1"/>

Troost: Special

This is a nice Danish style VA/Burley with practically no topping, if any really. I like this better than Golden Slices, but just a little. It produces a simple, monogustatory sensation, but very nice to just smoke and not meditate over as one might with a more complex blend. Very little aftertaste, clean and pleasant. This was a free pouch from the manufacturer advertised on this site and I'm glad I took advantage of the deal. This is a broken flake and packs nicely, lights well and produces a good volume of smoke. It can be a little bitey and burn hot if you get excited, but otherwise this is a good smoke.

May the Lord Jesus Christ be found by your heart.

Smoke in peace brothers and sisters.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/QEUC-LRgy_s" height="1" width="1"/>

Seattle Pipe Club: Plum Pudding

The general listing says that this tobacco is not available in bulk, but it most assuredly is available in bulk from Pipesandcigars.com. After having been on backorder for seven weeks, I finally received eight oz. bulk yesterday.

There were several blocks of krumble cake, but most of the tobacco was loose and perfectly fresh and moist. Eight oz. fills up a Mason jar perfectly.

My first impressions are that this is a high quality tobacco blend, with a complex mix of flavors. All of the bowls that I have smoked so far, have started off tasty and spicy from the very first light. About a third of the way down the bowl, I get a slightly salty taste and then the flavor profile explodes, and the Orientals make themselves known. Pleasant aftertaste.

Burn is incredibly good, with zero drying time. Ash is a fine white. No tongue or mouth burn whatsoever. The bowl does tend to get a little hot, due to my aggressive puffing. I find that when the tobacco does not relight, it is because there is no unburnt tobacco left in the bowl. Zero dottle. Pipe is virtually clean when the bowl is through.

In short, this is a tobacco worth waiting for, and sure to become a new favorite in my rotation. Four stars. Worthy of its praise, and highly recommended.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/jsbU6HSzFG8" height="1" width="1"/>

Peter Stokkebye: English Luxury

While others suggest this as a first English, it was, as it so
happened, my first English, obtained in bulk. It was well loved
through many bowls until overtaken by the stronger, more latakia-
laden blends. Good for its purpose, there is no going back, so be
warned before picking up the 965 or the Nightcap.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/NewReviewsAtTobaccoReviews/~4/tqeksCiKQ_M" height="1" width="1"/>
