Barack Hussein Obama has been distorting the facts in his own TV ads and with the complacent assistance of the leftist news media, no one has asked any questions. What more can be said of the biggest liar ever seen in American history. Maybe the news media has just gotten used to it but for the rest of us who haven’t had our memories dulled by too much reality television, the ads stink like a pile of crap. Funded by billions of dollars in campaign contributions pouring in from every pro-communist, pro-Muslim, America-hating leach, the campaign to reelect Obama has been bombarding us with distortions of the truth. One particular campaign ad has no dialog, just a moving scale of events that illustrates the collapse of our economy beginning in January 2008 and then showing the miraculous turnaround brought about by the Messiah/Muslim-in-Chief.

What is wrong with the ad is where it begins (it begins on the far left and isn’t that an appropriate play on words) and the lack of identifying labels to show what caused the collapse that is still being felt. In other words, who drove the truck off the cliff and when did they get behind the wheel.

Seemingly laying the groundwork for an invasion, no one appeared to notice that the news media’s concerted effort to make George W. Bush a very unpopular president during his second term, led to a Democratic Party majority getting swept into office during the elections of 2006 and 2008. Along with the Democratic Party majority came the new chairmanships of the various committees that write the vast array of government regulations that burden our lives in every way.

In the Democrat controlled Congress of 2008, two such important committees were the Senate Banking Committee under the leadership of Democrat Senator Chris Dodd and the House Financial Services Committee, led by Democrat Congressman Barney Frank. Together, these two Democrats passed rules and regulations that committed the Federal National Mortgage Association, commonly known as Fanny Mae, and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, known as Freddie Mac, to obligate banks to make sub-prime housing loans to people who were judged to be unable to afford them. Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd deserve blame for Fannie and Freddie

The Independent, a British newspaper, blames the Democrats for the failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac:

What is the proximate cause of the collapse of confidence in the world’s banks? Millions of improvident loans to American housebuyers. Which organisations were on their own responsible for guaranteeing half of this $12 trillion market? Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the so-called Government Sponsored Enterprises which last month were formally nationalised to prevent their immediate and catastrophic collapse. Now, who do you think were among the leading figures blocking all the earlier attempts by President Bush — and other Republicans — to bring these lending behemoths under greater regulatory control? Step forward, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd.

In September 2003 the Bush administration launched a measure to bring Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac under stricter regulatory control, after a report by outside investigators established that they were not adequately hedging against risks and that Fannie Mae in particular had scandalously mis-stated its accounts. In 2006, it was revealed that Fannie Mae had overstated its earnings — to which its senior executives’ bonuses were linked — by a stunning $9.3billion. Between 1998 and 2003, Fannie Mae’s executive chairman, Franklin Raines, picked up over $90m in bonuses and stock options.

Yet Barney Frank and his chums blocked all Bush’s attempts to put a rein on Raines. During the House Financial Services Committee hearing following Bush’s initiative, Frank declared: “The more people exaggerate a threat of safety and soundness [at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae], the more people conjure up the possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury which I do not see. I think we see entities that are fundamentally sound financially.” His colleague on the committee, the California Democrat Maxine Walters, said: “There were nearly a dozen hearings where we were trying to fix something that wasn’t broke. Mr Chairman, we do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac and particularly at Fannie Mae under the outstanding leadership of Mr Franklin Raines.”

When Mr Raines himself was challenged by the Republican Christopher Shays, to the effect that his ratio of capital to assets (that is, mortgages) of 3 per cent was dangerously low, the Fannie Mae boss retorted that “our assets are so riskless, we could have a capital ratio of under 2 per cent”.

The web site Politico reported this on October 9, 2008 in a story written by Patrick O’Connor & Amie Parnes:

“During a town hall in Wisconsin on Thursday, McCain called Senate Banking Chairman Christopher J. Dodd (Conn.) and House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank (Mass.) “willing co-conspirators” in the current financial collapse. ”

“This comes as conservative talk radio hosts and an outside group aligned with the GOP accuse the duo of similar crimes against the economy, particularly an allegation that congressional Democrats blocked legislation to increase regulations and oversight for mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”

“The fact is that the same people that are now claiming credit for this rescue are the same ones that were willing co-conspirators in causing the problem,” McCain told supporters at a town hall meeting in Waukesha, Wis., on Thursday. “Congressman Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd are two of them.”

Nothing new there. The Democrats are STILL claiming credit for fixing the mess they caused six years ago. Did I misquote the years? No, because in 2006 the Democrats took control of both houses of Congress following a sweeping victory in the mid-term elections and they used their veto proof majority to ram through changes in the banking regulations to allow people who could not afford mortgages to get them, and hundreds of thousands did, and many more subsequently lost their homes in the foreclosure problem that brought down the banks. All the while Republican George W. Bush was catching the blame for what the Democrats had done. And for whom Democrat Barack Hussein Obama has been blaming for all our troubles for the last four years.

Which brings us up to date. So now, in Iowa, Democrat Barack Hussein Obama calls Mitt Romney’s words ‘A Cow Pie of Distortion’

“I know Gov. Romney came to Des Moines last week and warned about ‘a prairie fire of debt’,” Obama said Thursday evening. “But he left out some facts. His speech was more like a cow pie of distortion.”

Want to know what a real “cow pie of distortion” looks like? Take a good look at the latest TV commercial that Barack Hussein Obama has been passing around. That red graph following January 2008 at the start of the ad was all caused by the Democrats.

Barack Hussein Obama’s delusions of grandeur make him the biggest pile of cow poop in Washington. And Obama, along with the 88 Congressional members of the Democratic Socialists of America, are at the center of the problem. In plain language folks, Obama is a piece of shit and he and the rest of the Democrats in Washington should all be flushed down the toilet.

The two illustrations above came from a YouTube post “Published on May 10, 2012 by BarackObamadotcom” The post carries a subtext message that says: “Remember how things were? Do we really want to reverse course now?” Funny as to how I do remember how things were and how good they were before Barack Obama got into politics and YES, I do want to reverse course now. I also happen to know that the FORWARD message also being promoted as Obama’s campaign slogan was copied from a whole bunch of Communist propaganda.

An important revelation from author Edward Klein is the name of the Obama ally who allegedly offered a $150,000 bribe to Obama pastor Jeremiah Wright to be quiet until after the 2008 election. Klein named him as Dr. Eric Whitaker, executive vice president and associate dean at the University of Chicago Medical Center. A close friend of Obama, and black himself, he leads the Urban Health Initiative (UHI) at the medical center.

Klein’s book, The Amateur, which has been ignored by the major media, will reportedly be number one on the forthcoming New York Times list of nonfiction bestsellers. One of his revelations is that Wright, in a tape-recorded conversation, admitted that he didn’t know if Obama, after 20 years at his church, had given up his devotion to Islam.

It was subsequently disclosed that Whitaker’s University of Chicago Urban Health Initiative received $5,862,027 in federal funds under Obamacare.

The rest of the story is that the medical center is part of the University of Chicago complex, which acknowledges receiving 217 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) awards (Obama stimulus money) totaling $105,856,751 from the Department of Education, Department of Energy, National Endowment for the Arts, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.

One of the stimulus grants went to Joshua Correll, a University of Chicago professor who operates a “Stereotyping & Prejudice Research Laboratory” that has been working since 2000 to develop and refine a first-person-shooter video game that was originally designed to ferret out allegedly racist cops in order to re-educate them.

However, Correll is white and his researchers include only one black person.

Correll specifically received $154,563 in stimulus grant money for what is called a collaborative project at the University of Chicago which “outlines a series of studies investigating the role of individual differences in executive functions (EFs) in expression of implicit racial bias.” This appears to be academic jargon for identifying and naming alleged racists.

Whether Correll’s stimulus money directly went for the further development of the video game or not, the game has been a major focus of his attention. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and now specializes in “Stereotypic associations between Black people and danger.”

“Our working hypothesis is that in American culture, black is often associated with danger and crime and physical aggression,” Correll told National Public Radio. It is a “stereotype,” he said.

Tell that to the victim of a black mob in downtown Baltimore where a manager was violently attacked after he tried to stop the looting of his store. Maryland state delegate Pat McDonough had previously called attention to attacks upon citizens in Baltimore by roving mobs of black youths. This video shows a white tourist being beaten in downtown Baltimore by a black mob that steals his belongings.

Correll’s other area of expertise is said to be the “moderating effects of training/expertise on bias.” In other words, isolating and re-educating the alleged racists.

The Chicago Medical Center connection to the attempted silencing of Wright raises a series of questions about how federal money is being used in Chicago and other parts of the country to benefit Obama’s base and further his partisan political interests.

First Lady Michelle Obama was a vice president at the Chicago Medical Center, while senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett served as chairman of the medical center’s Board of Trustees.

As with most things Obama-related, the $105 million received by the university has a racial component. It is supposed to address “a variety of medical problems,” including “racial bias,” and “other important challenges of our time.”

It is apparently under this category of “racial bias” that Professor Correll got his grant.

The Obama website reports that the project is 50 percent complete. We are not told what that means, however.

Here’s how this website describes the project:

“This collaborative project outlines a series of studies investigating the role of individual differences in executive functions (EFs) in expression of implicit racial bias. Executive functions refer to higher-order control processes that regulate thought and action. Although an individual’s performance on laboratory-based implicit bias tasks is typically interpreted as a straightforward manifestation of his/her underlying automatic bias, recent preliminary evidence suggests that performance on all such tasks implicates executive control processes, such as the overriding of dominant or pre-potent responses. According to the team of researchers involved in this project, racial bias, as assessed by implicit bias tasks, is a complex construct jointly affected by automatic bias and individual differences in EF abilities.”

While this seems deliberately vague, additional research led to the “Stereotyping & Prejudice Research Laboratory” in the Psychology Department at the University of Chicago and the video game that has been under development since 2000.

We are told that the video game “presents a series of images of young men, some armed, some unarmed, set against realistic backgrounds like parks or city streets. The player’s goal is to shoot any and all armed targets, but not to shoot unarmed targets. Half of the targets are Black, and half are White. We have used this game to investigate whether decisions to ‘shoot’ a potentially hostile target can be influenced by that target’s race.”

The video game seemed designed to prove racial profiling or racism on the part of police. Indeed, it is reported that Correll came up with the idea of studying this issue when U.S. attorneys decided in 1999 not to file federal charges against four white New York City police officers in the Amadou Diallo case. Diallo was a black illegal alien who was shot and killed because officers thought he had pulled a gun on them.

According to the article, unconscious racial stereotypes may have been at fault in that case and, after being identified, it is possible that this “bias” can be “trained out” of the officers.

The problem is that Correll told NPR, which was recently doing a story about the shooting of the black youth Trayvon Martin, that his research at this point suggests even blacks have preconceived notions about other blacks being potentially dangerous.

NPR reported, “Correll says the participants are universally more likely to fire at black men — whether the shooter is young, old, male, female or even black.” Correll told NPR, “Everybody [on the video game] was faster to shoot a black target than a white target, and the magnitude of that bias was equivalent” regardless of race.

Media coverage of the Martin case was driven by a real stereotype, encouraged by agitators like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Congressional Black Caucus member Rep. Corrine Brown, that a racist white person shot Martin for no legitimate reason, perhaps as part of a “hate crime.” The evidence produced in the case demonstrates a case for self-defense by the shooter, George Zimmerman, who is Hispanic and was monitoring the neighborhood for criminals before he was viciously attacked by Martin. Additional information about the dead teenager’s lifestyle and background, including juvenile delinquency and marijuana use, has come to light since President Obama commented if he had a son, “he’d look like Trayvon.”

Left-wing network MSNBC has pulled back on its saturation coverage of the case, after apparently concluding that Zimmernan, who is in hiding from black mobs out to kill him, has the evidence on his side. Sharpton is a host on MSNBC.

One wonders if Correll will receive any more federal money if his final study finds blacks just as “guilty” as whites of “racism” or “hate crimes” against blacks.

The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast and the results are in for this week’s Watcher’s Council match up.

What is peace between nations? What does it consist of and how does it happen? This week’s winner, Joshuapundit’s: What Does Peace Mean Anyway?, decided to examine that very timely question, with a glance at how it applies to the Middle East. Here’s a slice:

Peace is said to be a high priority, no matter whom you talk to.People crave it and pray for it, and rightly so.

This is a much more important issue, I think, than most of us realize, especially in these days when people use terms like ‘The Long War’ and ‘the peace process’ .Yet few of us, especially in the West actually stop to think of what we really mean by peace, and what you can’t define clearly is frequently illusory.

The Bible provides one definition, with the prophet Isaiah talking of a time of peace so profound that men will not only transform the arms of battle into implements of peace but cease to study the arts and strategy of war.

That’s obviously an unrealized ideal in the immediate future.

Islam is much more direct about the matter. Westerners are confused when Muslims say that Islam means peace (actually, it comes from the Arabic aslama, which means submission). To Muslims, who divide the world into dar Islam, the part of the world where Islam rules and the non-Muslim world, referred to as dar harb ( literally the house of war), peace is much simpler. It’s a condition where the entire world is dar Islam, exactly what Mohammed ordered his followers to strive for right before his death in 632 CE, according to the Hadiths.

If some Muslims talk of peace when they actually mean a time of dar Islam, it’s understandable that something gets lost in translation – sometimes deliberately so.

So, is peace then simply an absence of war and conflict? It ain’t necessarily so.

We here at the Council chose to make this week’s contest part of a blogburst going on around the ‘sphere at a great many sites. A number of the Council members have written individual stories about what’s going on or are linking to other stories about what’s going on – to show Stacy he’s by no means alone and we stand with him. You should do the same.

While connected to the US’ largest Marxist organization, Democratic Socialists of America, for at least 30 years, Barack Obama can only be linked through documentary evidence, to one DSA sponsored event.

In this little-seen advertisement that ran in the Hyde Park Herald in 1996, Obama was listed on a panel sponsored by the Chicago Democratic Socialists of America , University of Chicago Democrats, and University of Chicago DSA.

”Barack Obama observed that Martin Luther King’s March on Washington in the 1960s wasn’t simply about civil rights but “demanded jobs as well”.

One of the themes that has emerged in Barack Obama’s campaign is “what does it take to create productive communities”, not just consumptive communities. It is an issue that joins some of the best instincts of the conservatives with the better instincts of the left.”‘

‘Obama felt the state government has three constructive roles to play.’

‘The first is “human capital development”. By this he meant public education, welfare reform, and a “workforce preparation strategy”. Public education requires equality in funding. It’s not that “money is the only solution to public education’s problems but it’s a start toward a solution… A true welfare system would provide for medical care, child care and job training. While Barack Obama did not use this term, it sounded very much like the “social wage” approach used by many social democratic labor parties.

‘The state government “can also play a role in redistribution, the allocation of wages and jobs. As Barack Obama noted, when someone gets paid $10 million to eliminate 4,000 jobs, the voters in his district know this is an issue of power not economics. The government can use as tools labor law reform, public works and contracts.””

Finally, Illinois “needs an industrial strategy. How do we create more jobs for everyone? Illinois has no strategy for encouraging high wage, high productivity jobs”.”

Dr. Sebastian L. v. Gorka, a member of the faculty of the College of International Security Affairs at the National Defense University, said on Tuesday that the Obama Administration is rapidly revising federal counter-terrorism training materials in order to eliminate references to Jihad and Islam.

Government bureaucracies usually take a long time in changing a policy. In this case, he said, “I have never, ever seen such a wide ranging review executed with such alacrity.”

Although he blamed Quintan Wiktorowicz, a member of Obama’s National Security Council, for implementing the Obama Administration’s new overall policy of accommodating radical Islam, including the pro-terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, Gorka said Spencer Ackerman of Wired Magazine had helped sparked the review of federal counter-terrorism training materials through a series of controversial articles. One of those articles ran under an inflammatory headline about “Islamophobia” supposedly characterizing the federal government’s response to global Islamic terrorism.

As a result of this kind of coverage and the new policy, Gorka said the Obama Administration today forbids the use of the word “Jihad” to describe the terrorists that target America for destruction, even though they are members of the Muslim religion and openly declare their Islamic aims. What is happening in terms of redefining the threat is “unprecedented” and dangerous, he said.

The battle against radical Islam has been transformed into a concern, under President Obama and his adviser Quintan Wiktorowicz, about “violent extremism,” not Islamic terrorists or Islamists, he said.

Gorka said that the administration believes there are “good” Islamists and “bad” Islamists and the former can be dealt with. He said this policy is apparent in the decision by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to have contact with the Muslim Brotherhood “Supreme Guide” Mohammed Badei.

While some Islamists are violent and others use democratic methods to achieve power, Gorka said the fact is that they share the same goal—a world-wide system based on Sharia, or Islamic law, resulting in the destruction of America’s constitutional system of government.

Gorka said the process of changing the U.S. approach to radical Islam has even become “un-American” in the sense that training materials, including his own, are being censored by federal authorities without the trainers being told who is ordering them altered or deleted and why. “I was one of the victims of that review,” he said, explaining that certain slides from one of his FBI presentations were ordered removed. There is no “recourse to appeal” in the unfair process, he said.

Ominously, he said that U.S.-based groups sympathetic or linked to the Muslim Brotherhood are reported to have had an influence on the federal committee set up to review the materials, a fact confirmed by Ryan Mauro, a national security analyst with the Clarion Fund. Mauro reported that Islamists are even exercising influence over what the FBI is telling its agents.

Mauro told Accuracy in Media that another factor behind the ongoing review, in addition to the inflammatory reporting of Wired blogger Ackerman, is the influence of the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress (CAP), which issued a “Fear, Inc.” report attacking critics of radical Islam as bigots involved in “Islamophobia.”

To understand the dramatic nature of the change that is taking place, Gorka noted that the 600-page bipartisan 9/11 commission report, released in 2004, mentioned Islam 322 times and Jihad as a form of “Holy War” against the West 126 times. But the Obama Administration’s 2009 National Intelligence Strategy, a presidential-level document, doesn’t mention Islam or Jihad once, he said.

“The enemy has achieved what Sun Tzu, the Asian master of strategy, defined as the ultimate form of victory—if you can win without fighting, you can do no better,” Gorka said. “If your enemy has successfully determined the limits of what you can say about him, he is already winning.”

He went on, “The fact that it is now forbidden to use the word Jihad in government counter-terrorism training means that the enemy is controlling what we are allowed to say about him. That makes it very difficult to defeat him.”

Demonstrating the sensitivity of his remarks, delivered during a conference sponsored by the Westminster Institute, Gorka said that his speech should not be construed as necessarily representing the views of the U.S. Government. He has worked for or with various government agencies for eight years.

The title of the Tuesday event was “Dangerous Embrace: The U.S. and the Islamist.”

Gorka’s disclosures about the unprecedented nature of the radical rewriting of government counter-terror manuals and presentations came as a new book by Edward Klein discloses that Obama’s former Christian pastor, Jeremiah Wright, said he was not sure if Obama had ever repudiated his Islamic upbringing and background. “That’s hard to tell,” Wright said, when asked if Obama had given up Islam, a religion in which he was raised and trained. Obama today claims to be a Christian.

Gorka and Dr. Patrick Sookhdeo, another speaker, discussed the advance of radical Islam under the Obama Administration, but did not hold the President personally responsible for what is happening. Instead, Sookhdeo criticized Rep. Peter King, Republican chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, for not doing enough, in his view, to expose the radical nature of Islam. In fact, King has held several hearings on the topic and has been a strong critic of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a group associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Robert R. Reilly, Senior Fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council and former director of the Voice of America, was the final speaker at the conference and discussed “the Fallacy of the Islamist Road to Democracy and Implications for U.S. Foreign Policy.”

Obama’s foreign policy has been demonstrated in the overthrow of Egypt’s pro-Western ruler, Hosni Mubarak, during the so-called “Arab spring,” making way for representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood to take power. The Obama Administration meetings with the Muslim Brotherhood that have followed this disaster represent a policy previously advocated by the Soros-funded Center for American Progress.

Gorka, who recently became an American citizen, highlighted a photo of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton meeting with Muslim Brotherhood “Supreme Guide” Mohammed Badei. But he did not comment during the question-and-answer period when an audience member asked the speakers whether President Obama’s Islamic background, as discussed and acknowledged by Jeremiah Wright, was playing a role in the transformation of U.S. foreign policy in a direction that favors the Muslim Brotherhood.

Reilly, who has also taught at the National Defense University and is the author of the new book, The Closing of the Muslim Mind: How Intellectual Suicide Created the Modern Islamist, replied that the flawed U.S. Government approach to radical Islam was bipartisan in nature.

In the 11 years I have been blogging, I have had numerous death threats. But they are nothing compared to what Stacey McCain at The Other McCain is going through. I have watched good friends like Michelle Malkin and other bloggers be threatened, stalked and terrorized mercilessly by the left. They have had to move multiple times, hire private security and fear for their lives and their families simply because they dared to speak the truth and fight back against Progressives. The bloggers I know are the bravest people out there and I am proud to call them friends. Being a high-profile blogger in America these days is to have a very large target on your back at all times – I have had numerous death threats, stalkers, hacks to my site and denial of service attacks. You never know what will happen next. But for those who care more for their country than their own lives, bloggers gladly walk the edge every single day with little notice, lots of scorn and risk to personal life and limb. They suffer through troll attacks, their servers being hacked (with the expense of combating that), spam and of course, death threats. Just ask S.E. Cupp. I have never seen such a wonderful person treated so horrifically. It’s barbaric and criminal.

McCain is being threatened by an actual terrorist, the Speedway Bomber – Brett Kimberlin. Over the past year Aaron Walker, Patterico, Liberty Chick and now Stacy McCain have been stalked and terrorized by convicted Speedway Bomber Brett Kimberlin because they dared to mention his criminal past or assisted others who did as well. Andrew Breitbart issued a strong warning about Kimberlin and his associates. We have to stand up for the bloggers and fight harder. Never back down, never let these bullies smell fear. These guys have been all alone fighting this. I didn’t even know of it till yesterday. I knew about Malkin and various others who had suffered these attacks, but I didn’t know that this level of stalking and terrorism was occurring and on-going. These bullies need to be taken down several notches. Let’s see this asshat try and dance with all of us. Bring it creep.

Convicted terrorist Brett Kimberlin on Monday continued his effort to silence those who write about his criminal past by contacting my wife’s employer, claiming that I was “harassing” him. The resulting security concern required immediate relocation if I was to be able to continue writing about the case of Kimberlin, a violent felon, perjurer and admitted tax cheat who is employed as the director of a 501(c)3 non-profit that has collected $1.8 million in contributions since 2005.

Kimberlin was convicted of multiple federal felonies in 1981 and sentenced to 50 years in prison after he terrorized a small Indiana town in a brutal crime weeklong bombing spree. Law enforcement officials told the Indianapolis Star they believed the bombings were committed in an attempt to distract authorities investigating the 1978 murder of a 65-year-old grandmother, a crime in which Kimberlin was a suspect.

In recent months, Kimberlin has used a strategy of legal intimidation and workplace harassment in an apparent attempt to silence his critics, including blogger Seth Allen, Virginia attorney Aaron Walker and Los Angeles deputy district attorney Patrick Frey.

Kimberlin is a known associate of Neal Rauhauser, a Democrat campaign consultant who has described himself as a computer “hacker.” Kimberlin, director of the tax-exempt Justice Through Music Project, is also involved in another tax-exempt group, Velvet Revolution, which has gained national attention by demanding criminal prosecution of high-profile figures including Republican strategist Karl Rove, U.S. Chamber of Commerce president Tom Donohue, and the late Internet news entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart. Kimberlin’s name also surfaced last year in connection with the so-called “Anonymous” international hacker conspiracy. Kimberlin has pursued numerous strategies to harass journalists and bloggers who have attempted to call attention to his criminal past and his notorious dishonesty — a “top-flight con man,” as Publisher’s Weekly called him in a review of award-winning journalist Mark Singer’s 1996 book, Citizen K: The Deeply Weird American Journey of Brett Kimberlin.

This just pisses me off to no end. McCain’s only crime is being a REAL journalist and telling the truth. Do you think McCain or these other bloggers will EVER be able to relax as long as this asshat is out there? Never and the authorities won’t do a damn thing. Crickets all around. There is no justice here, just intimidation and persecution of good, decent, honest people by a leftist, insane terrorist thug. I’m sure that you will be surprised to know this is also connected to George Soros and the Center for American Progress. The man’s evil knows no limits.

This Friday, May the 25th, is BlogBurst Friday for Free Speech: “Everybody Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day.” If you have never been involved in a BlogBurst, they carry a stunning impact when enough of us get together and say with one voice, ‘Enough!’ Please Tweet, Facebook, email and post on Friday for this cause. It affects all of us and a movement has formed to build a defense fund and structure to support bloggers in the face of persecution of all forms. This needs to go far and wide and get to the major media outlets. Tell everyone – we may disagree on various issues, but we all agree on this one. Terrorism of all forms must be stopped. No one should have to be in fear for their life or the lives of their loved ones for blogging. No one.

Aaron’s story is quite long. (We had a tiny, tiny piece of it here.) But he supports it with primary documents and video recordings, and ultimately it’s a wrenching depiction of how the system doesn’t prevent crazy and/or evil people from victimizing innocents — a depiction of how the system can be the instrument of such victimization. It’s not a pretty story, but it’s worth reading.

Dan Collins:

That Kimberlin lied repeatedly in his sworn charges isn’t a surprise, but it is a deep disappointment that the Maryland prosecutor seems to think there’s no substantial public benefit to be procured by making wannabe mass murderer Kimberlin pay for his false testimony in trying to frame blogger Aaron Worthing. My opinion is that people who attempt to use the law and the legal system as a means of tortious aggression towards other citizens should be summarily sentenced on conviction to penalties at least twice as high as those they’ve contemplated for their targets.

Patterico:

First, this isn’t about dredging up a crime that happened 34 years ago. Kimberlin has done plenty since then. He made claims about selling pot to Dan Quayle — claims that the lefty author of a book about Kimberlin believes are false. He deceptively avoided paying a wrongful death judgment to the widow of the man he blew up. He sued a small-time blogger in 2011 for telling the truth about him, and made several false statements about his history under oath in an effort to win a large cash judgment. He made several provably false statements regarding his encounter with Aaron Walker, in an effort to get the State of Maryland to prosecute Walker. He has regularly defamed, harassed, and stalked people who criticized him.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, folks.

Patterico: Brett Kimberlin’s Latest “Peace Order” Against Aaron Walker Is Retaliation for Truthful Speech

One of the things that Kimberlin complains about is that Aaron has called Kimberlin a terrorist…

“Terrorism” is a fair way to describe what Brett Kimberlin did to the town of Speedway, Indiana in 1978, when he set off eight bombs over the course of several days. Kimberlin has been convicted of those bombings, one of which blew off the limbs of a Vietnam veteran named Carl DeLong, who committed suicide as a result of his injuries. Brett Kimberlin earned the right to be called a convicted domestic terrorist, and he should not be marching off to court complaining about it when someone calls him just that.

It is beyond the scope of this post to detail every way in which Kimberlin’s peace order is misleading and deceptive. Kimberlin complains that Aaron spoke of purchasing a gun, implying that Aaron’s statement was aggressive — when Aaron actually said he had bought a gun to defend himself. Kimberlin claims that Aaron is responsible for “alerts” coming to his email inbox, suggesting Aaron is emailing him, when in fact the “alerts” Kimberlin is talking about are Google alerts. If you write about this guy on the Internet, he may run to a judge and say you are causing abusive alerts to come to his email.

You might say: what’s the harm in getting a peace order? I have watched this play out in other venues and I know just what Kimberlin is up to. As soon as he gets a “peace order,” he will run back to court the very next time Aaron mentions his name in public. That means that Kimberlin asserts the right to abuse the court process to harass Aaron — and if Aaron tells the world how Kimberlin is abusing the court process, Kimberlin will claim that as a violation of the peace order and try to have Aaron held in contempt of court.

Kimberlin and his crew have relentlessly harassed Aaron, me, and others over the course of the last several months. It is not harassment for us to tell the world what happened to us. It could happen to any of you. His supporters have outed or threatened to out commenters to this very site. They talk about wives, children, and fathers of bloggers and commenters. They ceaselessly abuse everyone they can who speaks the truth about Kimberlin’s past.

Ultimately, this is a free speech issue. Kimberlin and his group of thugs have done their level best to attack everyone in the blogosphere who wrote anything negative about him. Now the blogosphere is starting to wake up, and there are so many critics he can’t possibly intimidate them all.

As part of a recent AIM Report, I wrote briefly about the release of documents last week in the George Zimmerman case. Zimmerman has been charged with second degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin. But more has come out since then, and attorney Alan Dershowitz has stepped up his criticism of the special prosecutor in Florida who brought the charges. Here is what I wrote:

As we are going to press, a trove of documents was released on the George Zimmerman case that appears to bolster his defense that he is not guilty of second degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin. Back in March, ABC News released video that led Al Sharpton and many other media pundits to declare it as proof that there was a conspiracy by the police, along with Zimmerman, to allow this “white Hispanic” to get away with the murder of a young, black man.

The Washington Post headlined their above-the-fold story on the new documents, “Martin was shot at close range.” But other reports noted that the newly released pictures were consistent with Zimmerman’s story. He had bloody lacerations on the back of his head, two black eyes, his nose was swollen, and as a doctor’s report released earlier in the week showed, his nose was broken. Martin’s autopsy showed there were injuries to his knuckles.

There are also previously unreleased eyewitness and ear-witness reports indicating that Zimmerman was being pummeled by Martin. But there was a report from the Sanford police’s lead investigator that there was probable cause to charge Zimmerman. And one policeman said this could have all been avoided had Zimmerman never left his car. But as attorney Mark Geragos pointed out on CNN’s AC360 with Anderson Cooper, this is not evidence, just an opinion.

According to Alan Dershowitz, a liberal lawyer, writing in The New York Daily News, if this evidence that appears to support Zimmerman’s version of events “turns out to be valid, the prosecutor will have no choice but to drop the second-degree murder charge against Zimmerman—if she wants to act ethically, lawfully and professionally.”

Dershowitz said that the special prosecutor, Angela Corey, “was aware when she submitted an affidavit that it did not contain the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. She deliberately withheld evidence that supported Zimmerman’s claim of self-defense.” As I argued in an earlier AIM Report, the media and certain politicians have played leading roles in fanning the flames, and this story has a long way to go.

After that went to press, Dershowitz went even further in an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Huckabee,” with former Gov. Mike Huckabee, in which he accused Angela Corey of being “aware of most of the evidence in general outline” and said she made “a deliberate, willful, unethical, unprofessional, and illegal decision to withhold that evidence…from the courts and from the affidavit that she filed in support of an overblown second-degree murder prosecution.”

He said Ms. Corey should be investigated for submitting an affidavit that she knew to be a half-truth, which he equated to a lie. And, he said, she sees her job to do justice for Trayvon, and to avoid riots, not to see justice for Zimmerman. He added that she has raised expectations for a conviction, but that no reasonable jury will convict on second-degree murder charges based on the evidence. He said that if there are riots because Zimmerman isn’t found guilty or because the charges were dropped, she will be responsible.

Dershowitz also said that the prosecutor “made up” the notion that Zimmerman had “profiled” Martin because he was black, though there was no evidence to support that.

In an expanded version of the Dershowitz-penned article cited above, he also had some tough words for The New York Times. He accused the Times of “generally biased” reporting against Zimmerman, suggesting that “if the police had done their job properly the evidence would point to Zimmerman’s guilt.” He also blasted them for using “uncorroborated gossip,” in citing a woman who had called an investigator with an opinion that Zimmerman “has racist ideologies,” though she refused to identify herself.

“I think the New York Times should ask itself whether it would have published the contents of a phone call from an unidentified person that made similar inflammatory charges against Trayvon Martin,” Dershowitz wrote. “I believe that the publication of such unsourced gossip—which would be totally inadmissible in any trial—violates the New York Times’ own policies. It has some explaining to do.”

Now, it turns out, according to the Orlando Sentinel, that four of the witnesses cited in the documents changed their initial story of what happened, and in at least three of those four cases, the changed version was damaging to George Zimmerman’s case.

The release of the documents in support of the second-degree murder charge against George Zimmerman, along with evidence of changed memories, have only complicated and exacerbated an already racially charged prosecution.

While a number of Council members weighed in, Courtney Messerschmidt of GrEaT sAtAn”S gIrLfRiEnD was unable to, but took great exception to some of the views expressed…Joshuapundit’s in particular.

Therefore, the two of us decided to debate the matter in a brand new edition of Head to Head, the Watcher’s Council’s very own version of a cage match that you’ll see onsite from time to time. Grab some popcorn, pour out a cold one and watch the action!

Courtney: This is a trick question.

“War is thus an act of force to compel our enemy to do our will.” vClausewitz

Organized conflict – war – is – to paraphrase the delightfully correct and psychic vClausewitz – the ho of politics. A continuation of Statecraft through – let us speak plainly here – bloody, destructive, hurtfully helpful and other means.

And currently – politics au courant show an almost complete lack of will on the American polity to continue war in the Stan. Case closed, right?

Totally incorrect.

“We exhibit to mankind the remarkable spectacle of a people attacked by unprovoked enemies, without any imputation or even suspicion of offense…We shall lay down our arms when hostilities shall cease on the part of the aggressors, and all danger of their being renewed shall be removed and not before” – Thomas Jefferson

For Great Satan to split the AO where she was brutally attacked and in which more attacks are now being planned is never, ever going down, so long as there is the slightest chance, possibility or opportunity of a repeat.

There is no safe haven that al-Qaeda covets more than the border regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan. That turf presents a unique opportunity for enemies and a threat to Great Satan. Situated in rugged terrain hundreds of miles from any coastline, with weak or nonexistent governance and security services, this region provides both a home to al-Qaeda and possible access to new clear weaponry.

The two tactics Great Satan has employed since 44″s trip are the fading Counter Insurgency – or AFPAK Surge (to distinguish it from the Original Surge in Iraq) and the new school air powered/especial op driven Counter Terrorism tactic.

Surging is a slow, bloody, grinding process. And it ain’t into time. Convincing fence sitters to hook up with the Strongest Tribe, finger the bad guys for especial considerations and discourage insurgents from continuing the insurgency. Surging takes tons of precious blood and treasure. Boots on the ground are an enormous deployment and set piece battle skills are diminished as troops ditch the Ray Bans, learn a few cuss words and mullah jokes in Pashto and control turf.

Counter Terrorism is a way diff critter. Professional, career minded cats well versed in the dark arts of Marine Recon, Rangers, SEALS, Green Berets and Delta Force hook up with local and global intell, spies and air power (bombers, cruise missiles and the ever popular Drones Gone Wild) to contain, discourage and annihilate terroristical state and non state actor outers. More like a killing machine than a convincing convention, CT is a nice way of saying annihilate. Yemen is a total war zone for Counter Terrorism for example and at last check – there are zero groups, efforts or calls to unAss the place

In fact, Counter Terrorism is the only way to go to deliver pain and misery on our enemies when political desires for open conflict and COIN tactical delights are exhausted. Several cats have penned stuff recently worrying that CT tactics can continue at an exponential rate world wide without a flicker of interest from the American people simply because there is no American blood shed, little treasure (comparatively speaking) being blinged and no discouraging headlines for inappropriate handwringers to inappropriately handwring over.

Aside from the happy effect of proving once again Americans are kinda crazy and lethal in wartime – it also sends the conflict free signal to other nation states of sorts that in order to keep Great Satan out of their respective hoods it’s way better to hop on the Writ of State train – lest Americans show up and stay forever.

“Our objective is to create an Afghanistan that can stand on its own, that ultimately is going to be able to secure its own territory, not provide a safe haven for terrorists, not drag down the security of the entire region” – Dr. Col. John Nagl

CT would prevent the hard hammered Taliban group headed by Mullah Omar and operating in southern Afghanistan (including especially Helmand, Kandahar, and Oruzgan Provinces) from taking control of that area upon the withdrawal of American and allied combat forces. The remaining Afghan security forces would be unable to resist a Taliban offensive.

They would be defeated and would disintegrate. The fear of renewed Taliban assaults would mobilize the Tajiks, Uzbeks, and Hazaras in northern and central Afghanistan. The Taliban itself would certainly drive on Herat and Kabul, leading to war with northern militias.

This conflict would collapse the Afghan state, mobilize the Afghan population, and cause many Afghans to flee into Pakistan and Iran.

Advocates within Pakistan of continuing to support Taliban argue that Great Satan will abandon Afghanistan as she did last millennium, chaos only Taliban or something equally creepy will be able to void fill in a gig that pleases Pakistan and her “Strategic Depth” Strategy.”

UnAssing would prove them right.

Pakistani operations against their own insurgents–as well as against al Qaeda, which lives among those insurgents–would probably grind to a halt as Pakistan worked to reposition herself in support of a revived Taliban government in Afghanistan. And a renewed stream of Afghan refugees would likely overwhelm the Pakistani government and military, rendering coherent operations against insurgents and terrorists difficult or impossible.

The collapse of Land of the Pure, or even the revival of an aggressive and successful m”hammedist movement there would be a major suck fest for the region and for Great Satan.

Just as bad, a significant increase and risk that al Qaeda might obtain new clear nastiness from Pakistan’s stockpile, risking an Indo-Pakistani war involving the use of new clear detonations.

Face it – no way America can truly leave.

Rob: It’s a time honored debate tactic to attempt to reframe the question at hand. But reality unfortunately still bites.

I doubt that Clausewitz would recognize what’s going on in Afghanistan as war, since one thing both he and Sun Tzu shared was an iron clad principle that war should never be engaged in without concrete and obtainable objectives. Yet, that’s exactly what we did in Iraq and what we’re doing in Afghanistan.

Not only shouldn’t we stay in Afghanistan, we should never have wasted our blood and treasure going there in the first place. Staying in Afghanistan assumes we have something to ‘win’ there. We don’t.

The above quote used by Dr. Col. John Nagl on what our supposed goals are in Afghanistan is a brilliant summary of exactly why this is true. Afghanistan has never ‘stood on it’s own’ because it’s not so much a country as a collection of tribal fiefdoms and ‘securing territory’ has always been a matter of interaction between those tribes since the country has never had a strong central government. Not only that, but the majority of the Afghans have a very different idea of what ‘terrorists’ consist of than we do…and they could care less about our definition. Frankly, the majority want to keep Afghanistan as their little 7th century jihadi Disneyland, and they’re not interested in buying the radical ideas of freedom and democracy we’re selling. Neither is any other Muslim nation,because it doesn’t jibe with their core values.

The reasons given above for ‘staying the course’ in Afghanistan can be boiled down to the following:

‘If we leave, Afghanistan will be a failed state that we can be attacked from again.’

Actually, there are all kinds of states we can be attacked from again, some failed, some that merely embrace radical Islam and some that are both. One of them is just south of Afghanistan. Nothing we’ve done in AFPak thus far will prevent future attacks from being planned, especially since we’ve given the perpetrators no cause to fear our response whatsoever.. As I previously revealed to my readers, of the reason Osama bin-Laden was ratted out in Abbotobad was to allow Ayman al-Zawahiri to take the organization back to the Arab world, where they’re already enjoying a resurgence in Libya. Egypt and yes, Iraq.

Zawahiri was formerly a part of the Muslim Brotherhood, the main inspiration for al-Qaeda and numerous other similar groups, and when the Islamists take over Egypt, Libya, Gaza and probably Jordan and the Palestinian occupied areas of Judea and Samaria, al-Qaeda will fit right in nicely.

Yes..the Muslim Brotherhood, the group the Obama Administration is cultivating and enabling at every turn. And just as a side note, guess who our official envoy to the Taliban is to negotiate our surrender? None other than Sheik Qaradawi, the Muslim Brotherhood’s radical jihadist leader.

Nice how that fits together, isn’t it?

Horse manure. Ask the ghost of General Patton and the men of the Third Army how long a decent offensive takes..against a much stronger enemy. What takes time is waging war using ridiculous rules of engagement with an emphasis on political correctness and hearts and minds. Especially when you don’t even admit whom the enemy is.

And by the way, what convinces ‘fence sitters’ in Muslim culture whom to ally themselves with is not drinking tea and eating mangy goat meat but either baksheesh in hand or fear of the Strong Horse. Right now, these fence sitters don’t perceive us as the Strong Horse, and rightly so.That, by the way, includes the Afghan Army we spent all that money to put together. The majority aren’t to be trusted, as anyone whose been there lately will tell you.

‘If we don’t continue to slog it out in Afghanistan, Pakistan will cease its counter terrorism efforts and might become even more jihad friendly and anti-American’. Especially now when we have Mullah Omar and the Taliban right where we want them.’

I won’t even go into detail about how effective Pakistan’s ‘counter terrorist’ efforts have been. Suffice it to say that aside from hiding Osama and tipping off terrorists to upcoming strikes, they’ve impeded us every step of the way. More terrorism has emanated out of that country than ever came out of Afghanistan.

Speaking of Clauswitz, another thing he and any reputable strategist talk about at length is the need to keep your supply lines open and your lines of retreat intact. We’ve done neither. As I write, the Pakistanis, not content with the $7 billion in baksheesh we’ve already given them are now demanding a bribe of £3,000, – over $4,700 dollars- per truck to reopen the roads and allow supplies for our troops in Afghanistan to cross the border.

Aside from the increased cost and difficulty in supplying our forces, there’s increasing doubt that we’re going to be able to pull our troops and equipment out safely, even if we pay the Pakistani’s price.

And as for the Taliban getting access to Pakistan’s nukes..I’d love to know how a hundred thousand US troops who aren’t even allowed to enter Pakistan are going to stop that from happening …as opposed to, say, a JDAM strike on Pakistan’s nuclear facilities.

What America – or at least, two American presidents – have never been willing to face is that we’re fighting an ideology, not simply a bunch of ‘terrorists’. Al-Qaeda, the Taliban and Lashkar-e-taiba are simply groups of subcontractors in the jihad against the West, and there are plenty of Muslim nations willing to provide them with the essentials any group like that needs and indeed can’t survive without- money, logistical support and a haven to train, plan and recruit.

After 9/11, rather than confront -militarily or otherwise – the Muslim nations openly supporting jihad against America and the West, two presidents have elected to ignore what we’re actually fighting and concentrate on placating the Muslim world. That’s why we’re still fighting this war a decade later, stuck in a conflict of attrition. COIN is the obvious result of our military attempting to square the circle between actually fighting a war and appeasing our political elites. The results, at best strategic retreats, have been predictable.

Far better we salvage what we can in men and material from Afghanistan until we have leadership actually willing to fight a war the way it needs to be fought and a commander-in-chief worthy of our efforts.

Real peace comes from victory.

Oh, sorry! Zoned out there for a second

Oh. Really? LOL – actually the reverse is true.

Sure AQ is unassing AFPAk and heading for sunny climes on or about Suez. Now, why is that so? Easy – because America’s killing fields in the wild wack regions of the Stan for one. Just as aQ unAssed Iraq and fled back to the Stan around 08 and 09, going up against Americans in a dumb thing to do – leaving aQ or Talibanic enablers all dead on the side of the road for a stranger to bury hardly advances their deigns desires or delights.

COIN is indeed a slow, bloody grinding process – and to be about as subtle as wearing a thong to church, General Patton would certainly agree.

Indeed, as Colonel Will F Owen says “Using lethal force to break an insurgency’s collective will to endure in combat defeats any type of armed opponent in any environment. Lethal force is the most effective and efficient method of breaking collective will. As Clausewitz made clear, killing does not set forth or resist the policy, but rather removes the violent armed objectors that seek to counter it. The population should not be asked to pick sides. They should merely be informed that the Army will win, and that should be demonstrated to them, as forcefully and unequivocally as possible. No one should be confused that if you fight the Army/Security Forces, you will die or be captured. Evidence should be literally laid before them. There should be no more complicated message than that.”

Old Blood and Guts could have said that himself in Ramadi or Marjah.

Despite past history, the Stan can easily fulfill all of Dr Col Nagl’s premonitions. Not by running away and hoping for the best, yet with the carefully – coldblooded – CT mix as artfully described above. As Colonel Owen implies – changing Afghani attitudes about what is terrorism and what is cool can be done in a fun way with multiple craters for fence sitters to contemplate. Anything else is just asking for trouble.

All of Rob’s off the cuff responses confusing COIN with Counter Terrorism are risible and a pitiful fail on an epic scale to convince any one to hop on the defeat, retreat and repeat train. Rob actually makes my case on several issues.

Pakistan is the wild card no doubt – yet CT neutralizes ISI’s double dealing. Land of the Pure’s military is undergoing some hard looks by a populace growing increasingly disaffected with Military Inc. and their horrific love and hate relationship with Taliban.

Simply put – America didn’t start the war. And to unAss the place for rather dubious concerns and reasons about worthy leadership hardly impress or address previous concerns. Simply put, Great Satan has the CT tactic to use to our hearts content with no blood and little treasure to visit righteous payback until the term Taliban is about as au courant as Waffen Ss or Kamikaze

It’s a global war Rob. And the Stan is one front among many.

Running away is a sure fire recipe for grief, heartache and misery.

Rob: It’s unfortunate that a few inconvenient facts bored Courtney, but it doesn’t make them go away. Labeling me a ‘defeatist’ doesn’t do the trick either.

Al-Qaeda isn’t heading back to the Arab world because of anything we’re doing. They’re heading back there because of new opportunities that have arisen for the formation of the new Caliphate because of the so-called ‘Arab Spring’, the coming Muslim Brotherhood takeovers of Egypt, Libya and quite possibly Jordan, the suppression of the Sunnis in Iraq and our retreat from the region.

The formation of a world wide Caliphate was what the Muslim Brotherhood has always been after since the 1920′s and al-Banna and the Brotherhood were al-Qaeda’s direct inspiration. The Obama administration is handing them exactly what they’ve always wanted on a silver platter and yet Courtney has the nerve to refer to that as our fighting a ‘global war’? We haven’t even started to fight this war yet.

If we were doing as much damage to our enemies in Afghanistan as she imagines, why would we be negotiating with the Taliban? Using the Muslim Brotherhood, no less? Why would we be releasing Taliban killers back to the Taliban as part of ‘negotiations’? Given the Muslim honor/shame mindset, these actions aren’t negotiations, but a plea for a ceasefire and a retreat.

We’ve been in Afghanistan doing the hearts and minds, nation building polka for a decade now. What are the results? Courtney attempts to claim that Afghan attitudes have changed for the better, that Pakistani attitudes have changed, that Afghanistan can ‘can easily fulfill all of Dr. Col. Nagl’s premonitions’ . She unfortunately provides absolutely no proof that Afghanistan can meet Col. Nagl’s conditions for success she cited earlier.

In fact, if anything, the Afghans and Pakistanis have become even more pro-jihadi and hardline than before and none of the links she provided do anything to disprove that. If attitudes are changing so much, why would the Afghans whom are supposedly on our side still be murdering aid workers and U.S. soldiers? Why would the head of the Afghan government who only survives because of our support be calling us terrorists and murderers to ingratiate himself with the Afghan population by stoking up anti-American hatred? Why would the Pakistanis repeatedly betray our operations to the Taliban, jail Pakistanis who provided information on Osama bin-Laden for treason and cut off our supply lines?

The idea that we were going to build a democratic Islamic nation that would be a U.S. ally in the so-called ‘war on terror’ and not be a haven for our enemies is exactly the sort of fairy tale spun by President George W. Bush about Iraq, where we used a similar strategy to the one Courtney is touting. Let’s examine how that turned out.

Iraq is now a Shi’ite republic with its laws based on sharia ruled by a Shi’te bloc led by Moqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Iran backed proxy the Mahdi Army, and Iraq is well on its way to becoming an Iranian satellite like Lebanon.Fully half of Iraq’s Christians have been driven out of the country on our watch, and the rest aren’t far behind.The Sunnis, contrary to the promises we made to them to get them to fall in with the Awakening movement are being increasingly marginalized, especially since Maliki and the Shi’ite bloc essentially stole the last election. The Sunnis are being kicked out of government jobs and the security forces, Abu Ghreib is operating again under new management, and there’s now a resurgence of al-Qaeda in the Sunni areas of Iraq like Anbar.The Kurds, who were our one real ally in Iraq had to go hat in hand to the Iranians to beg for terms.

As for the Iraqi government not supporting terrorism, let alone being a U.S. ally…well, let’s just say that isn’t exactly happening either.

When we left Iraq, not a single Iraqi showed up at the traditional flag lowering ceremony…although our flag was featured prominently at a number of other events as we departed.

Afghanistan is different in that it will undoubtedly be worse, since it’s not a cohesive country. In Iraq, Generals Petraeus and Ordiano plus the grit and courage of our warriors bought us at least an orderly retreat. That’s a lot less certain in Afghanistan. Just watch what happens as we leave in mid 2013.

In spite of all the high minded quotes about hearts and minds, counter terrorism strategies, COIN, and Muslim democracy, these results speak for themselves, and unlike Courtney, I see no reason to keep doing what hasn’t worked. Talk to one of our warriors who had to abide by our ridiculous Rules of Engagement to hold his fire on a jihadi he’d caught installing an IED roadside because the jihadi saw him, stepped away from his work and was unarmed. That will tell you a great deal more about how we ought to be fighting this war than all the pontificating.

As I said, real peace comes from victory. Had we been willing to fight it on that basis after 9/11 instead of worrying about placating our enemies, the so-called ‘long war’ would have been over during George W. Bush’s first term. Engaging in the politically correct defensive war of attrition (if you can call it war) as we have thus far ensures that we will continue to sacrifice blood and treasure for decades, with the kind of results we’ve seen thus far.
