According to our last discussion in my latest post about how to make subtitle without software, in the end of the post i said about how to merge subtitle into video for upload. So on this occasion i will share how-me merge my own subtitle into a video.

As you may know, this things can not be done without a software. There is a lot of software for editing video or particular software for editing and adding subtitle, but in this post i will not sharing how to use specific software for adding subtitle, i will use the common software, the free ware/the free software, the software for changing video or audio file type. Yes, you right! i will use video converter software to merge my subtitle into a video.

Me, myself only have this two software converter in my pc dekstop, Freemake Video Converter and Any Video Converter. i choose Any Video Converter to merge my subtitle like the video that i uploaded on the last post (How To Make Subtitle Without Software). You don't need software to make a subtitle, but yes...of course you need one to attach the subtitle into your video if you want to upload it.

Both of this software have their own advantages and disadvantages. Then click add Video and choose which video you want to add subtitle. In the same row of the video that you add there is a word "No Subtitle", click that and select "Add Subtitle".

Done, in this software you can not directly save it. You need to convert it to save the video. Choose your type of file according to your needed.

You can see in the picture no.1, there is the directory where the video will save after converting and for no.2 is the video size you want, and convert it.

How To Make Subtitle Without Software

Hallo everyone, in this opportunity i will share you how to make subtitle without software. Maybe one of you ever meet this condition, when you downloaded a movie (foreign movie), you found the subtitle is not synchronize well or the subtitle using a weird grammar (like my post maybe :p ) and also maybe you want to make your own subtitle with your own language style. Whatever the reason, you will always able to make your own subtitle using Notepad.

How To Make Subtitle Without Software

Ok, this is how it works. Firstly if you haven't know how to make .srt/subtitle file work with your video, read my latest post "How To Make .srt Subtitle File Work With Any Media Player". Now we will learn how to use notepad for creating a subtitle.

<Red>
This number is to show the sequence of subtitle who will shown first, even though we've put the time under for time of occurrence and every subtitle will shown directly if you not use this number at first.

<Green>
This is for the time and duration of the text to show. 00:00:05,000 this is for Hour:Minute:Second,millisecond. You can adjust the millisecond as you wish from 001 - 999 to match the video. And for this icon "-->" this arrow is a must, i have tried using (-), (->), and (--) and the media player said "cannot render the file", so this arrow icon "-->" is a must.

<Blue>
This is where you put the subtitle text/the conversation text.

To make it bold and italics text you can use

 For italics text

and

 For bold text

This text is similar to HTML language. I will give a little explanation about HTML language so you can make your own subtitle style. In HTML language every code start with <> and closed by </>, see the different? only in slash.

Make the text colored

If only text

The text will still appear but not colored, so you need to choose the color with adding this code (color="") insert the color inside the quotes.

i.e:

You can write the color with normal language (in English) like blue, yellow, red and etc, or for more color you can use color code like #ffffff for with text and #000000 for black text and more, you can easily find this color code in any drawing or text software like Microsoft word, paint and etc.You can also change the size of the text with adding one more code inside "font".

The size can be in pixel (px) or percent (%) or you don't need to wrote it, like:

So, to make subtitle with italics and colored text and different size the code will be like this

Don't forget to save your work with File -> Save as -> File name : enter the name of your subtitle (make it same like your video is better) and add .srt behind the name (i.e: avatar.srt) and in the Save as type choose: all files and Save.

Easy right :)

How To Make .srt Subtitle File Work With Any Media Player

To make .srt subtitle file work with your downloaded movie is depend on your media player. If you use MPC (Media Player Classic) or VLC Media Player or GOM Player, It will automatic subbed if the subtitle name same as video name and in the same folder.

Example:

Video : Avatar.mp4

subtitle : 21453686452.srt

You can choose to rename the subtitle or the video or both, whatever. As long as they have a same name

Video : 21453686452.mp4

Subtitle : 21453686452.srt

Video : Avatar.mp4

Subtitle : Avatar.srt

Video : Ava.mp4

Subtitle : Ava.srt

Note: Remember don't delete/rename the format files, only the title or the name of the files. (.mp4, .flv, .srt, .sub, etc)

If it not worked, try to drag and drop the subtitle. To drag and drop the subtitles, you don't have to rename the subtitle name. If it still not work in your MPC (Media Player Classic) go to View -> Option -> Playback -> Output -> DirectShow Video -> VMR7(Renderless) or VMR9(Renderless).

Me, myself never go through the option to show the subtitle since i installed MPC (Media Player Classic) and VLC Media Player, so i though i'm just using my default setting like the picture below. But just in case you'r MPC (Media Player Classic) not work like mine, then use the method above, i will give some picture to make it easier.

This is my default setting.

This is the setting just in case.

Open MPC (Media Player Classic) go to View -> Option ->

Playback -> Output -> DirectShow Video -> VMR7(Renderless) or VMR9(Renderless).

How To Make .srt Subtitle File Work With GOM Player.

To make .srt files work with this media player it's not different from MPC(Media Player Classic). Make the subtitle name same as the movie or reverse or you don't have to change anything, just drag and drop. But before the subtitle show in GOM Player you need to right click on the screen ->Subtitle -> Show Subtitle.

How To Make .srt Subtitle File Work With WMP (Windows Media Player).

For this media player i'm still curious too :p
I will update my post here after i find out how to make .srt subtitle file work with WMP (Windows Media Player). If someone know how to run subtitle in this media player please tell me, so i can update my post as soon as possible.

Movie maker is free application from windows for editing video and audio. Besides editing video (cutting frame/adding decoration etc) this application able to create video photo from your favorite album collection and add some music for the background (This is my hobbies :p)

Movie maker for windows 7 is not much different from Movie maker in windows xp platform. The different is in windows xp movie maker automatically installed along with the platform and in windows 7 you need to download it separately although this application is also from the same platform (Microsoft).

Before you download this application there is a note from Microsoft "Movie Maker might already be installed on your computer. To find out, click the start button, type movie maker in the search box, and see if it appears in the list results". There is no harm to check it first, right. Actually there is installed application in windows 7 platform to edit or create photo video called Windows DVD Maker. For me instead, this application is better than movie maker if it's only for make photo video. Because this application support .gif file, it doesn't mean that movie maker doesn't supported this type of file but in Windows DVD Maker this image[dot]gif will actually like .gif file (moving image) different for Movie Maker which only displays image.gif but didn't make it move. The shortcomings in Windows DVD Maker is, you can't save it without burn it into Dvd/Cd.

I would like to show you the different between this application through video recording, but since i'm a newbie too and haven't know how to record my activities through my computer, so you can try to compare this two application by yourself later. Oh yeah one more thing, if one of you have found the way to save Windows DVD Maker without burn it, please please please share with me :).

How To Cut Video With Movie Maker In Windows 7

Little flashback ok before we start to cut video with movie maker in windows 7, so yesterday (actually not really yesterday, a couple days ago) i downloaded Korean drama movies called "Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo-yong" with the subtitle. From ten video i downloaded (This drama ended in ten chapter only and one hour per chapter) in sixth video or chapter sixth there is a commercial break in the middle of the movies just like other movies in television only the sixth video from ten video. So...because of this commercial break the subtitle is not synchronize anymore. It needs one hour for me to start a new download, and who can guarantee me if i start new download for this video there is no commercial break in it? Only God and the uploader who knows what is inside the file (just kidding XD).

Then i think about editing the subtitle instead of downloading the sixth video, but Google only gives me some web that provide software for editing subtitle and i don't have that much time for curious feeling about the continuation of this movie. I can edit through notepad manually but it will only take much time also. So i decided to cut the commercial break to synchronized the subtitle time with the movies.

Before i share my newbies way, i would like to say to all the Master "please forgive my newbie ways and please share with us if you have the easiest way to cut video, editing subtitle or else".

Newbie ways In Cut Video With Movie Maker in Windows 7

First, open Movie Maker (If you do not have movie maker installed in your windows 7 or for you who want to know the supported format for this application you can read my short explanation about Movie Maker For Windows 7)

After that add videos and photos, select the video which you want to cut.

After insert the video, choose tab edit and specify which part you want to cut/remove. See the picture below, You can specify the scene by choosing the frame (no.3) or the time/duration (no.2).

Note: If you find difficulty adjusting the appropriate time for the scene you want to cut, pause the video first. Between play/pause button there is two other arrow button, this button function is for rewind and forwarding the duration of scene for 00:00:00:03, so it is like Hour : Minute : Second : Millisecond (am i right? millisecond? maybe :p) so you can get the appropriate scene to cut.

And then to cut video with movie maker in window 7 we click split button. Remember the split button like the picture bellow and not the trim button. Trim button only remove scenes that is not in the covered area. So it only give you start point and the end point like first scene and the last scene only will be deleted, not particularly the scene that we want. Split button can split any part into some pieces of scene, so you can choose which scene you want to delete.

Choose start point after specify which video you want to cut, pause the video on the start of time where the scene you want to delete and press split. This will make the video split into 2 pieces. And then choose the end point of the video you want to remove, this will make the video split into 3 pieces. Ok, now right click on the part that you want to remove.In this cases it will be scene 1, scene 2 or scene 3. After right click you can choose "remove" or just push delete button in your keyboard. This will leave the video with only 2 scene only, because 3-1=2 <= this is for sure hahaha XD.

You don't need to worry about this both of part that left, after you save your work this two part will connect directly. So now you can remove any part of scene as much as you want, just split it and remove it.

And don't forget to save your work.

Choose home and choose save movie with down arrow and save it according with the format you need.

I make this post because i love to download Korean movie for my collection. I can just watch it streaming or on-line, but sometimes the subtitle does not fit or not synchronize...hahahaha.
