Wales Assembly Government Toying With The Idea To Pay Incentives For Pregnant Women To Quit Smoking

While some are busy saying that governments do nothing to
help, Wales if considering the idea to pay women to quit smoking during
pregnancy. Smoking during pregnancy has been known to lead to complications for
the unborn child, from a very likely spontaneous abortion, cot death to
increased chances of developing life-threatening lung diseases later in life.
Wales is where rate of smoking pregnant mothers are the highest. 37% of all smokers that become pregnant fail
to kick the habit and become cigarette and smoke free. Some have said that they
kept smoking on purpose because it could mean a smaller baby and an easier
delivery, not thinking of the damaging effect this will have on the life of
their child, shocking!

Wale’s chief medical officer Dr. Tony Jewell has said that
the Assembly Government was open to any proven and innovative idea to help
pregnant women quick smoking. Financial incentives might be the best way to
reduce instances of smoking during pregnancy. By financial incentives the
Assembly Government means grocery vouchers, one can imagine the idea would also
be to avoid people spending the incentives on alcohol! One can wonder about similar plans to quit
drinking.

Tanya Buchanan, chief executive of Ash Wales, said: “It is important we also look at how we can support new
parents to remain smoke-free and to make their homes and cars smoke-free in
order to provide their children with the best chance of good health.”

Smoking rates in Wales are undeniably awful and something has
to be done about it. People have to be made aware of the resources available to
help quit smoking and to remain a non-smoker once you throw that cigarette away.

Only about 4% to 7% of people are able to quit smoking on any
given attempt without medicines or other help.

between about 25% and 33% of smokers who use medicines can stay smoke-free for
over 6 months…Behavioural and supportive therapies may increase success rates
even further, and help the person stay smoke-free.“ Hypnotherapy is indeed a
cheap and effective way to quit smoking cigarettes for the long haul as it is a
behavioural therapy design to support you through the process

A financial incentive might be what is needed to help people
make that jump and decide to quit but it will not “help them quit”. People
should also be made aware of how to go about it. Hypnotherapy is of course the
modality we use to help people become smoke free for life and we are available
to answer your questions and support you as you quit for life!
Self-Hypnosis Over Meditation and Why

People often ask if meditation is the same thing as self-hypnosis, hypnosis and hypnotherapy or if one can lead to the other or if meditation can replace self-hypnosis and the answer is really simple. Yes and No, so to clarify lets go to a definition of both Meditation and Self-Hypnosis.

Meditation (Passive) is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the conditioned, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Meditation often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. The meditative process may emphasize different goals -- from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind.*Passive Meditation is the standard; empty your mind kind of meditative process.

Self-Hypnosis is a mental discipline based on hypnotherapy by which one attempts to get beyond the conditioned, "thinking" (conscious) mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness in order to be able to implant "Affirmations" or "Suggestions" directly into the sub-conscious mind Self-Hypnosis often involves turning attention to a single point of reference (fascination) while relaxing various parts of the body to the point where the relaxing feeling is such that the mind can focus on the "Affirmations" or Suggestions" given. Like for hypnotherapy the Self-Hypnosis process may emphasize different goals -- from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind depending on the suggestions given.

Now I can understand how this can be confusing as that sounds similar! Well in a sense it is all about focusing your mind on a specific thing, they both produce great results and can be the best thing for you to manage your stress and nervous tensions that causes back pains amongst other things. The only real difference is that the Self-Hypnotic process is about Intent and affirmations (or suggestions) that are put in the sub-conscious mind and the Passive Meditation is all about Intent. To explain a bit further passive meditation is simply putting oneself in the state and letting your intent do the work (i.e. if it's for healing that you meditate your mind knows it and takes the knowledge with through the different depth levels of meditation and relaxation and makes the "Intent" known to your sub-conscious mind and helps you heal) Self-Hypnosis is also carrying "Intent" down the depths of your mind, the difference being that once you access the levels of your sub-conscious mind you start giving yourself the "Affirmations" (or Suggestions) (i.e. I am healthier and better every day) or my personal favourite by Émile Coué "Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better" and by following one of the laws of Suggestibility and using repetition what your doing is really nailing it into your mind on top of the "Intent" making it even stronger than only passive meditation as it gives your mind more to work with.

Now some types of meditation are considered active and do include auto-suggestions and are in fact Self-Hypnosis and is of course works on more levels than Passive Meditation same as Hetero-Hypnosis (Hypnosis guided by a Certified Hypnotist works on more levels Self-Hypnosis)

Self-Hypnosis and meditation are powerful tools that can help reduce stress and enhance performance in many areas of your life and can help better your life. Those tools can help you achieve your goals and enhance the effectiveness of Hypnosis and goal setting.

*Hetero-Hypnosis or Hypnosis by a Hypnotist is guided by someone else that can then shape the tool to your needs based on outside observation, instead of you trying to shape yourself to the tool. This is how you can get the most out of hypnosis.

Self-Hypnosis should never be the sole instrument when dealing with issues such as depression or suicidal thoughts. The proper health specialist should be consulted and you should ask if you can use Self-Hypnosis to help deal with the issue as it can sometimes be detrimental when used improperly and could even give some problems focus in your mind's eye. If a psychologist or psychiatrist recommends the use of Hypnotherapy, seek the help of a trained professional hypnotherapist instead of going in alone.

Dany Leblanc Ch, Nlp is a Clinical Hypnotherapist working out of Cardiff, Wales.
Mood and Exercise on Cancer

A rapport by Macmillan Cancer Support has shown that cancer
patients stand a better chance of full recovery after a cancer as well as an
easier time dealing with the treatments. Exercise makes your body stronger and
more able to cope with Cancer and the treatments but also releases endorphins
and cortisol in your blood stream, those are natural pain killers!

Chemotherapy leads to fatigue and mood drops, this can mean
losing the will to fight and even to live. Being active does not only mean
physically but also mentally. By staying active physically your mood gets
better and more positive, positivity means a better chance to overcome your
cancer as you will be more ready, more receptive to treatments.

Everyone should be active and keep fit but this is even more
important when fighting cancer, your body needs to be strong to go through the
treatments, cancer pains and sometimes surgical pains. In the case of breast
cancer for example where a breast has been removed exercise is even more
important at the upper body level such as the shoulders to allow for proper
healing but also because breast cancer has a psychological impact when it comes
to losing a breast for a woman the scaring is not only physical but also
emotional. Some have said they did not
feel like a woman anymore, clearly something you don’t get from some random
tumour being removed, this is something very unique to breast cancer and
mastectomies. Any physical activity that you like will have a double effect of
elevating your mood as pleasure also releases endorphins and cortisol
throughout your body.

Get a family member to exercise with you a few times a week,
anything from a brisk walk to running or going to the gym, whatever you
condition permits as per your doctor’s recommendations. It is said that 2 and a
half to 3 hours of exercise a week is enough to see a noticeable difference and
to speed up recovery!

Exercise your mind! When dealing with any illness where you
are stuck in bed during treatments the first thing that you notice other than
your physical state is how bored you can be. To elevate your mood challenge your mind when you can with puzzles,
memory games and friendly conversation with the people around you. If you can
cheer up the people around you will also feel better from the natural pain
killers our body produces when you have fun. Self Hypnosis can also help, evidence shows that hypnotherapy has positive effects. Try always being ahead of the
cancer by visualizing recovery and the different steps to get there you can use self hypnosis to do that. As you do all this you are telling your mind and body what is to come, that it needs to heal.
Why let the doctors do all the work? The National Health Service (NHS) has understood this bit and has been looking into making hypnotherapy made available more and more as it saves on cost when people need less pain killers and requires less time to recover following treatments. They have had trial in several hospitals such as in London England and Cardiff Wales. We consider our minds a very important part of our daily lives yet have a tendency to forget this when being treated in a hospital. It should be your top priority to focus all of your mental and physical resources to get better, Go out and be active, happy and positive between treatments and you will be stronger and livelier while being treated as well.

Dany Leblanc Ch, Nlp
Clinical Hypnotherapist
Cardiff Wales, UK
http://RenaissanceHypnosis.Co.Uk

mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";color:black;mso-fareast-language:
EN-GB"> has called for the NHS to use
clinical hypnosis to save costs and improve treatment of conditions such as
stress and depression. Many Hypnotherapists in Cardiff Wales are already involved in work with the NHS and Cancer Care and we see this a great news to see that a greater number of patients could benefit from our hard work in Cardiff so Darren Page and myself Dany Leblanc Ch, Nlp have decided to fill you in on the details. Here we go:

Experts from the Royal Society of Medicine have called for Britain's
National Health Service to use clinical hypnotherapy to reduce cost by millions
of pounds and to help patients heal faster and better.

Back in June (2011) experts from the Society were meeting in London to discuss
case studies and to decide where to go from there. Saving the NHS and the tax
payer's money is not all the changes this would bring. Making a greater and
better use of clinical hypnotherapy, a science of the mind known for years for
it's benefits for a wide range of conditions, would be a good move as it would
allow a patient to avoid relying solely on medication when it comes to pain,
stress and so many other conditions some of which are brought on by the stress
of hospitalization. The NHS would also be able to better control the quality of
the hypnotherapy the patients receive through the use of their own
hypnotherapists rather then the patient having to seek out a hypnotherapist on
his own. Finding a bad therapist can often end up costing the NHS More in the
long run.

In 2010 and 2011 Darren Page one of our therapist was shadowed while
performing his work with the NHS working as a Clinical Hypnotherapist to
benefit Cancer patients. He worked at the Marie Currie Cancer Care in the Cardiff area. The results of this study where
very interesting and hopefully they will eventually be published on this site.

In this case what the NHS was interested in hypnotherapy for was specific area
where patients suffer without standard treatment being available or fully
adapted to the situation. Here are some of these situations mentioned:
