Two new releases from Nora Corbett. The first new release is Lady Slipper - another design in the Spring Garden Party Pixie Couture Collection. This little pixie is dressed in shades of pink and lavender and adorned with peach and opal beads.

The next new design from Nora is Water Lily - also from the Spring Garden Party Pixie Couture Collection. This darling little fairy’s dress bodice is done in shades of green and her skirt is a lovely orchid color. She has bits of sparkle with blue and green beads and amethyst crystals. I think this little pixie will be very popular.

Monograms from Jim Shore

Jim Shore's Monograms is a newly released book from Mill Hill. I did a scan of the design on the front cover hoping that you could see the beading. All of the designs in this book are as beautiful and intricate as this one and use the same colors. The book also includes a variety of borders, small motifs, and a small alphabet for personalization.

A new book of Jim Shore Monogram designs in cross stitch is available. The 40-page soft-covered book includes the monogram designs as well as smaller alphabets, borders and other motifs.

We have some new linens available. First, this lovely autumn color - Light Terra Cotta Belfast linen from Zweigart.

OK. Now I'm picking out which chocolates I would put in the perfect chocolate box from Munson's, our local favorite chocolate shop. Those chocolate covered raspberry jellies are my favorite. And here is the fabric that just put my chocolate cravings over the top - Chocolate Raspberry 28 count linen.

Like our other fabrics, we will be selling each of these fabrics by the half-width which is 27". I can picture some beautiful samplers on these "chocolate-themed" fabrics. I would love to hear what you will be stitching on them.

Harmony - the Newest Muse:

The newest muse in the Muse Collection from Nora Corbett is Harmony. Harmony is stitched on 32 count Sea Lily linen or 16 count Sea Lily Aida. The finished design size is approximately 10.2" x 6.5". She is adorned with lots of beads and sparkles with Kreinik metallic threads.

It that time of year, the kids are back to school (for the most part), the leaves here a just showing signs of new color (a little late this year) and Christmas decorations are already showing up in the stores. That means that Halloween is coming! Here are some of our favorite Halloween designs - both "classics" and new.

First off - we have new book from Just CrossStitch. Just CrossStitch Halloween Collection includes designs from over 50 top designers.

New from Just Nan, Emma and Eliza Meet the Owls of October is a pincushion kit with owl panels as well as a top and bottom. It's absolutely adorable. This is a limited edition so get it while you can.

New from Blackberry Lane Designs, Goblins on Parade is an adorable design for an Ort Jar liner. After stitching the design on linen, you insert it in a clear acrylic pail available at crafts stores. You can also stitch smaller motifs from the design.

From the Sweetheart Tree, the Halloween Quadrielle is one of a series of quadrielles.

Sleepy Hollow from Glendon Place has been one of our most popular Halloween designs.

Another popular design is Wicked Witch from Bobbie G Designs.

We're slowly but surely adding lots of new images to our website. We'll be adding images for threads and fabrics. Please keep in mind that monitors and video cards differ from computer to computer so what you see on your monitor might be a little different than what I see on mine. But, we do try to include the closest DMC color match on fabrics and threads.

Mill Hill Charmed Ornaments - Christmas Jewels

Mill Hill has released a series of beaded cross stitch ornament kits in their Charmed Ornaments line called Christmas Jewels. These designs are stitched on perforated paper with vibrant colors and then beaded for extra sparkle. The kits include beads, perforated paper, charms, floss, needles, chart, instructions and beaded hangers.

Besides being ornaments, these pieces make excellent gift tags. Just use felt or another fabric to back your stitched ornament and then use a fine-point pen to write the recipient's name and the year on the back of the ornament. Functional Art!

Pumpkin Patch Farm from The Victoria Sampler

The Pumpkin Patch Farm cross stitch sampler design is the latest sampler in the Small Farm series of sampler designs from Thea Dueck of The Victoria Sampler. This design follows the Ravenhill Herb Farm, Strawberry Fields, Jingle Bells Christmas Tree Farm and Babe's Honey Farm. Each of these designs uses a wide variety of beautiful threads which are available as packs. A number of different stitches is incorporated into each sampler and they are clearly illustrated in the leaflets.

July Halloween releases

It’s been a big month for Halloween - which is pretty impressive because it sure doesn’t feel like Halloween around here. July is generally when a whole bunch of Halloween designs are released and this year is no exception.

Autumn Alphabet from Lizzie Kate

Lizzie Kate has released the Autumn Alphabet which isn’t exactly a Halloween design, but there is a little jack-o-lantern candy pail on the sampler. Lizzie Kate has already released the Halloween Rules series this year which has been very popular because it’s so cute!

Tools of the Trade from Turquoise Graphics and Design

Turquoise Graphics released their Tools of the Trade design which includes a witch’s hat, a broom, a cauldron and is completed with bats, a spider and spiderweb. There is even a little jack-o-lantern border.

Goblins on Parade from Blackberry Lane Designs

Now, probably my favorite of the whole group this year is Goblins on Parade from Blackberry Lane Designs. The release includes a design for a bellpull which is comprised of smaller motifs that could be stitched separately. And then, there is the design for the ort pail. This is a design that you stitch on your linen and it is then inserted as the lining into a transparent, acrylic pail (which are available at craft stores). What a cute idea.

Witch Parking Only from Glendon Place

Glendon Place has some great Halloween designs this year as well. Batalphabet is a cute cross stitch sampler showing the letters of the alphabet made of bats and includes a whimsical verse as well. Halloween Luck is a cute verse sampler with a “bone” border. Come Sit a Spell is a great design showing a witch after a hard day’s (or night’s) work - with her feet up and drink in hand. Witch Parking is a cute little design, easily stitched as an ornament, that says “Witch Parking Only - All others will be TOAD” and shows, you guessed it, a big round toad.

Cats Bats and Witches from Prairie Schooler

Prairie Schooler’s new Halloween leaflet, Cats, Bats and Witches, includes charts for a sampler including a verse and a number of motifs. Also part of the leaflet is one of Prairie Schooler’s four-square designs with witches and haunted houses. These squares are perfectly sized for ornaments.

So, you see we’ve had a good assortment of Halloween designs already and the month isn’t over yet. This list doesn’t even count the Just Cross Stitch Halloween book which is coming out soon as well.

In August we see lots of Back-to-School designs and the Christmas designs, which have already begun, really pick up speed. Given how hot it’s been this summer, stitching on a nice wintery scene just might provide some relief.

With Little Snowy Lavender Church, there are now four cross stitch designs in the Snow Globe Village series from Nora Corbett. The latest design is stitched on Sea Spray linen or Aida and uses lots of Mill Hill beads, Kreinik metallic threads and Mill Hill Treasures for sparkle. Here is the village so far:

Spring Box - another design from Victoria Sampler in the Beautiful Finishing series is available. This is really fantastic. The chart includes designs for the box top, the scissor case, the pinkeep, and the scissor fob. On top of that, you get very detailed finishing instructions for each piece - including photos. If you take a good look at the box in the photo, you'll see that the box is lined with a complementary fabric and the entire finishing looks very professional. You can get these results yourself! The box will fit the needlework smalls inside. We have the chart and the accessory packs available here.

September Sapphire Fairy from Mirabilia Designs is finally here. This leaves only a few more months of the birthstone fairy series left. This design even uses some of the new Holographic series of threads from Kreinik.

New to us anyway. We have begun to carry charts from Barbara Ana Designs and Faby Reilly. You may have seen Barbara Ana Designs out and about for some time now. They are bright and cheery and really cute. She has a number of biscornu designs including Frogscornu and Bootscornu. We've added a few to our site and we'll be adding more over the next few weeks. Check them out!

Another new-to-us designer is Faby Reilly. We have some beautiful charts from this designer like Christmas Rose humbug and Poppy Biscornu. There is actually a whole series of Poppy designs from this designer that we'll be adding over the next few weeks. I think you'll really like them.

Aren't they beautiful! Keep checking back for more additions for both designers.
