Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie does an incredibly convincing Russian accent — so convincing, in fact, that he brought it back for another role in a different show.
Having perfected the accent as hockey hunk Ilya Rozanov, the actor also appeared in this week's episode of Apple TV+'s sci-fi drama For All Mankind, making a one-scene, one-line appearance in the eighth episode of Season 5, titled "Brave New World."
Playing a character simply credited as "Russian Spetsnaz Soldier," he warns a Martian-born character, "Mars-y, just remember which side you're on." Given how small the role is, we're willing to bet it was filmed before Heated Rivalry blew up.

Yaeji has mapped out a summer DJ tour across Europe and North America, including a lone Canadian stop.
Kicking off in June at D.C. Pride, the trek will bring the singer-producer to L.A. and Rothbury, MI, ahead of a performance at Vancouver's Fortune Sound Club on July 2. From there, Yaeji will perform Seattle, Denver, Austin, Dallas, San Fran and Chicago ahead of crossing the pond for a UK/European stint. The trek concludes with a supporting slot at Robyn's Brooklyn show on September 4.

Toronto-hailing singer-songwriter LØLØ released her sophomore album god forbid a girl spits out her feelings! last month, and now she's revealed that she'll be taking it on the road across the US and Canada this fall on a headlining tour.
After playing several US and Canadian festivals throughout the summer, the god forbid a girl goes on tour! will officially begin at Toronto's Opera House on September 17. She'll play another Canadian date at Montreal's Cabaret Fouf a day later (September 18).
After a run of US shows, she'll return to Canada for additional dates at Edmonton's Double Dragon (October 1), Calgary's Commonwealth (October 2) and Vancouver's Pearl (October 3) before continuing the rest of the tour stateside.

Founding Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi has dropped out of the band's upcoming world tour for an undetermined amount of time.
The news was announced via the Strokes' Instagram story, and according to the statement, Valensi's departure is temporary. "Nick will be taking a temporary break from the scheduled tour, but we look forward to his return," the post reads in part.
During Valensi's absence, the band will be joined by Longwave's Steve Schiltz, who some fans will remember from the Strokes' "early NY days."
Though Valensi played at Coachella 2026 with the band, he was not present for a few shows earlier this year, including their stint on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The Strokes' new album Reality Awaits arrives on June 26.
Car Seat Headrest's excellent 2016 album Teens of Denial turns 10 this month (feel old yet?), and now Will Toledo and co. appear to be teasing a remake for its upcoming anniversary.
This past week, fans received a CD titled Teen of Denial (Joe's Story) in the mail, along with a letter from Matador Records and Toledo explaining the project as a companion piece to Teens of Denial.
As transcribed by Reddit users based on images of the letter, Toledo described Joe's Story as feeling "more like the album Teens of Denial was meant to be."
"Sometime last year, it was suggested to me that we do something for the ten-year anniversary of Teens of Denial, so I started looking back on this album to see what we might do," the note begins. "Most of the songs I'd come up with over a two-year period at the end of my college days, when I was struggling with a lot of cynicism and misplaced aggression. But by the time the songs were done, I was living in Washington, Car Seat Headrest was a full band with a record label, and in spite of the turmoil of the writing process, the final album was pretty enjoyable for everyone to work on."
It continues, "This time, looking back at the songs, I wanted to feel like there was a story being told through the album, though I'd never imagined it as being a narrative work."
Speaking about how he borrowed the idea to use the name "Joe" as a placeholder in song titles from Daniel Johnston, Toledo explained that each track on the album reflects what Joe's going through. "Joe is a character going through some of what I experienced, and some of his own problems. Telling his story, and not just my own impressions of life at the end of the teen years, brought a new level of compassion and wholeness to the album."
The letter concluded:
For anyone familiar with Teens, comparisons with the original will be inevitable, but I do hope that as much as possible, people can come to this album on its own terms, approaching it as a teen, hearing the music and story for the first time. I believe music is an ongoing story, and albums don't always do justice to its dynamic, ongoing nature. What gives it life is the new ears that hear it, and the new hearts that engage with it. I'm so grateful that this is a work that people have kept coming to, and I hope that this presentation does them honor with a fresh offering to the conversation. We've known that "it doesn't have to be like this"; now we can wonder "what if it were like this?"

Árný Margrét never expected anyone to hear her songs. A homebody who had long-worked in her family's bakery in a small fishing town in Iceland serendipitously found herself in the little Reykjavik studio of producer Guôm Kristinn Jónsson — Kiddi, as she'd soon begin to call him — back in 2021. She tracked 10 tunes in a day and soon returned to track 10 more in what would later become the catalyst work for her sensational 2022 debut album, they only talk about the weather — a startlingly lucid snapshot of an indie folk start, tender feelings tucked into alluring melodies.
In Margrét's songs, life could be disorienting; in her early work with Kiddi, she reckoned with it, safely.

Ahead of releasing their new album From Here to Ohio on June 12 (via We Are Time), Deadbeat Beat have announced a North American tour in support of the record.
The summer trek kicks off with a release-day show in Detroit with support from Lightheaded, after which the band will go on to perform primarily stateside, with the exception of a lone Canadian date at Toronto's Dina's Tavern on July 8. From there, the trek wraps up later in the month, south of the border on the East Coast.
Coinciding with the tour announcement, the band have also shared new album cut "Heaven," about which they shared, "Musically, 'Heaven' is influenced by 'Noise' by Beat Happening and the Sunday Sunny Smile EP by My Bloody Valentine, while the vocal melody in the coda is reminiscent of Arthur Russell's delivery on 'Love Is Overtaking Me.'"

Saint John, NB's AREA 506 Festival has announced its 11th annual festival lineup, with the festivities taking place over the New Brunswick Day long weekend (July 30 to August 2) at the Waterfront Container Village.
The festival will kick off Thursday with a Boxcar Festival night, featuring performances from the Dead South, Kathleen Edwards, the Martin Boys, Kylie Fox and Zack Ingles, followed by Friday sets by Soul Asylum, Crash Test Dummies, Marcy Playground, Grand Theft Bus, La Patente and Waylon Napadogan.
Saturday continues the festivities with Marianas Trench, Wheatus, Valley, Absolute Losers, Penny & the Pits, Beauts and Constant Greetings hitting the main stage, and the weekend will conclude with the Glorious Sons, Wolf Parade, the Dirty Nil, Caged Animals, Customer Service, Dad Patrol, and Nate and the Busy Boys on Sunday.
In addition to musical programming, the festival also offers family-friendly experiences, pop-ups, food trucks and a vendor market.
"We are thrilled to be bringing incredible live music to the Saint John waterfront again this summer," said Ray Gracewood, AREA 506 Founder and Committee Chair. "And the addition of the fourth day is really a testament to the support the festival receives from this community. Chance the Rapper is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his mixtape Coloring Book with a tour that will take him across the US and Canada this fall.
After wrapping up his summer trek on August 1 (which includes four Western Canada dates), the anniversary celebrations will officially commence in Cleveland, OH, on August 11.
Amidst several US dates, Chance will pop back up to Canada to play shows at Montreal's MTELUS (August 15), Toronto's History (August 16) and Vancouver's Freedom Mobile Arch (September 25). The tour will conclude in Pittsburgh, PA, in October.

Good news for anyone who missed out on getting tickets for Angine de Poitrine: The alien microtonal duo are doing an additional run of shows.
The band's first new show is an appearance at Picton, ON's Base 31 Festival on June 26. After their initial summer run, they'll play Denver's Odgen Theatre on August 13, and Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom on August 25.
After a pair of US dates in September, Khn and Klek de Poitrine will return to Toronto to play History on November 5. They'll end the new dates by playing a good chunk of shows south of the border, ending at Portland's Crystal Ballroom on December 11.
Angine seems dedicated to making sure real fans get into this latest batch of shows. Presale begins May 19 at 10 a.m. local time, and can be accessed by signing up here. As of time of publication, no general on-sale information is available. "No robots allowed," they wrote on Instagram. Aliens, however? More than welcome.

Australian songwriter Alex Cameron has a new album on the way, and he'll be taking it on a tour later this year. Late to Set is out July 24, and will be followed by a string of dates in North America, which sandwich an opening slot on the Strokes' European tour.
Cameron's jaunt starts September 10 in Philadelphia at Johnny Brenda's. From there, he'll tour the Northeast coast of the US, before playing Montreal's La Sala Rossa on September 21.
After pausing the North American run for the European leg, Cameron will return to North America on November 3 to play Ojai, CA's Deer Lodge. This leg of the tour will focus on the West Coast, and includes a stop at the Cobalt Cabaret in Vancouver on November 14. It will end with shows in Boise and Salt Lake City on November 16 and 17, respectively.

In the film's trailer, you can't help but notice the sheer amount of cellphones in the audience. In an interview with NME, Eilish was asked if the fans filming were getting a "bad rep," to which she replied, "My generation and the generations below, we love to film stuff. All l do is film stuff and take pictures of everything all the time. I guess some people do it for clout or whatever, but who cares?"
She continued, "For me, when I would go to concerts or festivals or whatever I would go to, I would film every single minute of it, and you know what I would do? I would watch every single video that I took over and over and over and over until I had the audio of the crowd memorized."
Eilish also acknowledged that she wouldn't have a career without the internet, and how an "important part of culture is that we are all on our goddamn phones" anyway. "I wouldn't have fans. I wouldn't have the connection that I do without the internet."
I wonder if her feelings also extend to people filming on their DS and iPads at concerts, too?
Filming at shows — and also general concert etiquette — has been the subject of ongoing discourse. Recently, Eric Clapton ended a show early after being hit by an object thrown by a fan, and Mitski received backlash from her fans when she asked them not to film her shows in 2022.

Summer Noise Fest, a new one-day festival, will host its inaugural edition in Oshawa at the Biltmore Theatre on July 11 — and organizers have unveiled the event's full lineup.
Headlined by the Wild High, Summer Noise will also feature sets by Excuses Excuses, the Jailbirds, Double Experience, Army of One and Zaftig.
Doors for the all-ages event open at 6 p.m. with the show at 6:30, so don't be late!

Vancouver's Railtown Rooftop Party has announced the lineup for its 2026 edition, which will be held at 611 Alexander Street on June 20.
The artists playing the Summerlight Stage include indie pop act young friend and post-fusion group Chopping Spree!, whose genre-bending instincts create a unique, captivating soundscape that matches their wildly fun, high-energy live show. The band released their latest album Anemoia in January.
They'll also be joined by hip-hop artist King Cruff and indie darlings DACEY throughout the day.
The open-air, multi-level space will also host local food vendors, artisan vendors, craft beverages and sponsorship activations.

Experimental Seoul seven-piece Leenalchi (이날치) are bringing their unique lineup to North America on tour this summer, including a few Canadian dates.
The group — featuring two bassists, drums, keys and four singers (and no guitars) — will play four Canadian dates in late June. This includes jazz festivals in Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver, plus a headlining date at Toronto's Lee's Palace on June 25.
For the uninitiated, Leenalchi are led by bassist Jang Young Gyu, a composer who scored 2016's breakout zombie film Train to Busan, among many other films. Their songs are rooted in the Korean storytelling tradition of pansori. Their EP Here Comes That Crow will come out June 12 through David Byrne's label Luaka Bop.

Today, Montreal-based singer-songwriter Bells Larsen has released the film Blurring Time (the documentary), the companion to his 2025 record of the same title.
Directed and filmed by Larsen on a 1999 VHS-C camera and edited by boy wonder, the documentary follows Larsen's transition from 2022 to 2025 as he was creating Blurring Time. The album incorporates Larsen's "high" voice before he started taking testosterone, and after his voice dropped, he came back to those earlier recordings to harmonize and sing with a past version of himself.
According to the documentary's description, Larsen and his loved ones captured over 12 hours of footage that chronicle the making of the record, as well as the "quiet, complicated work of becoming." The final, 16-minute-long film captures a portrait of "time, transition and learning to carry every version of yourself forward."
The film was previously screened in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, and is now available publicly on YouTube.

Fredericton, New Brunswick's annual art and electronic music festival Future Forest has detailed the full lineup for its 2026 programming, which will run this summer from August 6 to 10.
Headlining this year's event are Aspen King, Brojandowski, Vampa, Buunshin, Hollen, Maddy O'Neal, CØNTRA, Tony Romera and VYMVN. They'll be joined by Atticus, Freewill, Chimp It, Pineo & Loeb, Sara Sukkha, Kilbourne, VEEV and more.
In addition to live music, there will also be an artisan vendor village, food and beverage options, performance art, installations, interactive workshops, epic soundscapes and more.

Toronto residents who have hosted people from out of town know that, for as much as the city has to offer, it's a little low on must-see tourist attractions. Little Canada is a clear exception, since its miniature models are absolutely delightful — and now the guys from Nirvanna the Band have made their tiny debut.
Last week, Elevation Pictures shared a short clip showing that miniature models of Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol had been added to Little Canada's model of Toronto. They're shown dragging a spool of cable from the CN Tower to their rusty RV (a climactic scene from Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie seen in the still above).
We're guessing that Little Canada's model of Toronto doesn't include the Rivoli, otherwise that's surely where the guys would be.
Meanwhile, Little Canada has launched a Nirvanna the Band contest that, among other prizes, allows a fan to have their own mini model added to the display, right next to the aforementioned RV. Neat!

Indie pop duo Hovvdy just announced their forthcoming new album Big World (out August 14 via Arts & Crafts), and now they're staying true to the record's name by heading out on a big, worldwide (a.k.a. US and Canada) tour this year — including two Canadian dates this fall.
After supporting both Bleachers and Wilco on their own tours this summer, the headlining trek will begin in October in Lawrence, KS. They'll eventually venture north for shows at Vancouver's Hollywood Theatre (October 15) and Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern (November 9), amidst several US dates.
Presales will go live tomorrow (May 14) at 10 a.m. local time, followed by a general sale on Friday (May 15).

Saharan rock combo Etran de L'Aïr had to cancel all of their US dates due to their visas being rejected, but they've announced plans to play Canada instead.
In March, the band wrote on Instagram, "Sad to announce, a new US visa policy bans us, and anyone from Niger (and many other countries) from obtaining a visa for the USA." This included opening dates with King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, among other dates.
The statement continued, "We've loved coming to perform across the States the past few years. And it's a big hit to us as touring makes up 70% of our income, and we depend on this to support our families at home."
Today, the group added Prairie dates in Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg, plus a Toronto show. This is in addition to previously announced festival shows in Calgary, Victoria, Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax, for a total of nine currently confirmed Canadian shows this summer. Malian singer, composer and guitarist Vieux Darka Tourné has announced a North American headlining tour, which will bring him to cities across the US and Canada this summer and fall.
The tour will begin next month in Denver, CO, on June 20. He'll play a few more US shows in the days following before continuing the rest of the trek in September, where he'll play three Canadian shows in British Columbia: Kelowna (September 9), Victoria (September 11) and Vancouver (September 12). After several shows in the US, he'll return once more to Canada to conclude the tour in Toronto on October 3.

The Montreal Victoire's PWHL playoff run is interrupting the city's concert calendar, as the Kid LAROI and Electric Callboy have each postponed their upcoming shows at Place Bell in Laval, QC.
Last night (May 12), the Victoire defeated the Minnesota Frost, advancing to the Walter Cup final against the Ottawa Charge. Because of this, Electric Callboy's gig on May 14 with openers Polaris and Scene Queen) has also been pushed back a day to May 15.
Similarly, the Kid LAROI's show on May 16 (with openers Tommy Richman and WizTheMc) has been pushed back a day to May 17.
Tickets for the original shows will remain valid at the new dates.

Viral global girl group KATSEYE are hitting the road this fall and winter for a headlining arena tour that will take them throughout Europe, the UK, the US, Canada and Mexico.
The WILDWORLD Tour begins overseas in Dublin, Ireland, on September 1. After a handful of UK and European dates, they'll kick off the North American leg in October, which includes two Canadian shows: Montreal's Bell Centre (October 30) and Hamilton's TD Coliseum (November 1). The tour will conclude in Mexico City at the end of the month.
Presales begin May 20 at 11 a.m. local time, followed by general on-sale a day later (May 21) at 3 p.m. local time.

The Tragically Hip embarked on their final tour a decade ago this summer, and the group are marking the anniversary by releasing a live album made up of recordings from that tour. Live July 22 – August 20, 2016 is out on August 21 via Universal Music Canada.
