Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on. More than 40 years after the quintessential Canadian TV series The Littlest Hobo went off the air, Bell Media is rebooting the show — and it's being helmed by none other than Seth Rogen.
Rogen and creative partner Evan Goldberg are working on an hour-long, live-action scripted drama adaptation of the story, originally based on a 1958 American film of the same name, with 10 episodes ordered, according to Deadline.
The Littlest Hobo first aired from 1963 to 1965, and had a popular six-season revival on CTV from 1979 to 1985. Following the incredibly smart titular free-roaming German Shepherd who wanders from town to town helping people in need, the show is set to the jangly, idealistic theme song "Maybe Tomorrow" by Terry Bush.
"The Littlest Hobo was a foundational show of our childhood," said Rogen and Goldberg. "We are thrilled to have the honour of bringing it back for a new generation alongside our partners at Crave. And though the hobo may be little, we promise big things to come. That doesn't mean the dog will be huge like Clifford. The hobo will still be little. But the adventures will be big."
As we know, German Shepherds are also very big among Canadian audiences right now.
Another highlight from Bell's newly announced 2026–2027 programming slate is an adaptation of the cult classic 1979 summer camp comedy Meatballs with Heated Rivalry's Robbie G.K. (you know, the "smoothie" guy).

Shania Twain's comeback season has been in full swing since probably 2022, and it's still going strong. Ahead of her new album Little Miss Twain (out July 24 on Republic Records), it's been confirmed that the Canadian country-pop icon's life story will be getting the biopic treatment.
With Leah McKendrick (Scrambled, Voicemails for Isabelle) attached to write and direct, Shania is in the works at Sony Pictures, Deadline reports. While plot details currently remain scarce, Twain herself will produce the feature alongside Amy Karp.
Those who saw the artist's 2022 Netflix documentary Not Just a Girl know there's plenty of material to work with, as the Joss Crowley-directed film touched on Twain's difficult childhood, and how contracting Lyme disease sidelined her career.
"Long before I was making movies, I was shooting Shania music videos in my bedroom," wrote McKendrick, whose previous work as a pop singer-songwriter reportedly helped her land the gig. "This wild-hearted force of a woman means so much to me — and the world. It is a surreal dream come true to get to bring her trailblazing, gut-punching, awe-inspiring story to the screen."

Boston, MA-formed technical death metallers Revocation have been a band for 20 years now. To celebrate two decades of music, they've announced the 20 Years of Torment Tour, which will bring them across North America this fall — including to Canada for gigs in eight cities across six provinces.
With support from Defeated Sanity, Fuming Mouth and Weeping, the run kicks off on September 10 in Worcester, MA. From there, Revocation will immediately cross the Canadian border to play Montreal's Cabaret Foufounes Electriques (September 11) and Lee's Palace in Toronto (September 12).
After returning to the US for a pair of dates, the outfit return to Canadian soil starting September 16 at Winnipeg's Park Theatre. Following another stop at the Exchange in Regina (September 17), they'll make Alberta appearances at Edmonton's Starlite Room (September 18) and Calgary's Dickens (September 19) ahead of BC concerts at Kelowna's Revelry (September 20) and Vancouver's Rickshaw Theatre (September 22).

Canadian prog metallers Protest the Hero have announced the follow-up to 2020's Palimpsest. Their new album Within is due July 17, and marks the band's first proper independent release.
"This record is us putting our foot down. We're not interested in participating in that system anymore. We're focused on the future. And for the first time, it's completely in our hands," shared guitarist Tim MacMillar.
The album is said to be Protest's most personal work to date, and finds the band expanding their sonic horizons. On Within, they've incorporated orchestral compositions from William Lamoureux while expanding on their technical intensity.
"Most people are pretty familiar with hermetic maxim 'as above so below' but the entire passage isn't quite as well known. 'As above so below, as within so without, as the universe so the soul,'" the band explain of the album's title. "Obviously, I focused on the middle portion of the quote. 'Within' represents the individual inner world, which is largely defined by our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. The songs are all representative of how external factors affect our inner world. With that being said it's probably the most personal stuff we've ever released."
The album is previewed today by lead single "Mouthpiece." Vocalist Rody Walker shared of the new material in a press release:
On the record focused on the micro, "Mouthpiece" is the only song from a macro perspective. This is not without reason. It is about the controlling powers that have convinced us that everything needs to be divided into binaries despite the fact that very few things truly exist within them. It describes a world of brilliant colour reduced to black and white by charlatans like podcasters and corporate media. It suggests the only true binary we should pay attention to is the very wealthy and everyone else.

Recent Exclaim! cover stars Broken Social Scene are about to embark on their All the Feelings tour with Metric and Stars, and they're looking for videographers to film content at each of their stops along the way.
The band has put out an open call on their socials, asking people who are experienced in shooting vertical video to apply to shoot content for them. While the extent of the project has not been shared, it appears they're looking for concert footage from different creators every night of their tour.
Interested parties can apply via this Google Form, which asks for examples of work and which dates applicants are available to shoot.

Dany Laj and the Looks have returned with plans for a new album and supporting tour dates through Ontario and Quebec. If Looks Could Kill is set to arrive on September 18.
The record's straightforward rock 'n' roll is said to ride "the highs and lows of navigating modern life: frustration, loss, perseverance, friendship and growth." Laj elaborated:
I started writing this record out of pure necessity. It gave me a way out. A way out of feeling like I'd been getting suckered into doing things I didn't want to be doing. A way out of agreeing to things I didn't want to do. A way out of listening to everyone's politics about this and that and the other thing.
The album is previewed today by lead single "We're The Freaks," about which Laj shared, "It's a story that plays out in cities everywhere: artists and independent venues help transform overlooked neighbourhoods into vibrant cultural communities, only to see those same spaces threatened as new residents move in. This song is about how one complaint can put an entire creative ecosystem at risk and the lasting impact that can have on a community."

Oshawa's Convergence Music & Art Festival is heading back to its home city this fall for two days of music, art, culture and creativity, and organizers have announced the lineup for this year's edition.
Running from September 19 to 20 throughout the city's downtown, I Mother Earth and Reuben and the Dark with the Bullhorn Singers will headline the event on Saturday and Maestro Fresh Wes and Jeremie Albino will hit the festival mainstage a day later. More artists will be added to the bill in the coming weeks.
Putting the "art" in Music & Art, festival goers will also be able to explore immersive art installations, local makers and vendors at the Punk Rock Flea Market and Vintage Market and Nerd Alley. There will be professional wrestling too!

Angine de Poitrine are playing a ton of shows this summer, but when you see them, be sure to double-check that it's actually them, since there's now a fake version of the duo.
"There's a fake [version of the] band touring Russia already, with the costumes and everything, and they keep tagging the band and they don't even say it's not a real band. And they just have a one-neck guitar," said Sam Murdock, an art director and layout designer who works behind the scenes with Angine de Poitrine and spoke with Exclaim! for our latest cover story.
An Instagram post from May 17 by Vyacheslav Zakharov (@mediaslava) shows a fake version, whom we'll be referring to as дпgiпэ dэ Pютяiпэ, performing live at the Moscow bar Escapist. The costumes are quite elaborate — although, as Murdock already pointed out, the fake Khn de Poitrine is playing a single-neck guitar, rather than his signature double-necked guitar/bass. The polka dots on the background set look distinctly hand-painted. More like Angine de Putin!
It's not clear if the band have played any other shows beyond the one in Moscow, but a tipster named Vladislav Panferov reached out to Exclaim! to say it was a special birthday gig for the bar's third anniversary.
Murdock also told Exclaim!, "We're living in a weird time where everyone's trying to make money off the band. Right now, there's like 1,500 fake T-shirts online already, and I removed 700 fake T-shirts on Tee Republic and on Red Bubble, but they keep on popping up."

Following news that Lauv had dropped out as the support act halfway through Khalid's tour to focus on his mental health, MJ Lenderman has now announced that he will no longer be opening for Zach Bryan's stadium trek.
"MJ Lenderman and the Wind are no longer able to join Zach Bryan on tour next month," reads a statement posted to Lenderman's Instagram Story last night (June 3). "After years on the road, I need time to rest, recalibrate and work on new songs. Thank you to Zach for the invitation — we'll see you all another time."
Lenderman has indeed been touring aggressively pretty much ever since the 2024 release of Manning Fireworks, having just wrapped up his co-headliner with Waxahatchee last month. Back in 2025, the musician announced that he would no longer be touring with his beloved band Wednesday, but would continue to record with them.
Lenderman will be replaced by Ryan Bingham and the Texas Gentlemen on Bryan's dates next month, and the country star's With Heaven on Tour comes through Toronto in September, where Trampled by Turtles will open.

FACTOR and Scotiabank have quietly reached a settlement in their $9.8-million heist case, after a huge sum of taxpayer money was stolen from the funding body's bank account in 2024.
The two parties reached a settlement back in March of this year. The details of the settlement have been announced publicly; it wasn't even revealed that there was a settlement until The Globe & Mail recently disputed the scope of a sealing order.
"While we couldn't control what happened to us, we proved in a court of law that FACTOR and its staff were not involved in this incident," FACTOR exec Meg Symsyk told The Globe & Mail. "We deeply thank Canadian artists and our entire music sector for their unwavering support as we navigated this complicated process." She did not shed any more light on the details of the settlement.
The case is not over, as Scotiabank will continue legal action against other parties.
Earlier this year, an arrest warrant went out for James Campagna, a Quebec man who, according to court transcripts, allegedly arranged a fraudulent $9.8 million invoice to FACTOR; the money was then deposited from FACTOR's Scotiabank account into that of Vipera, a Quebec tech company of which Campagna is the only shareholder. Campagna then moved to Qatar.

The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde has released a statement on social media speaking out against people filming or using their phones at concerts.
The artist described a conversation with American singer Emmy Lou Harris: "Our conversation naturally turned to people on their phones at concerts…this is a subject that comes up every time I meet an artist…you can plaster a venue with signs requesting NO CAMERAS, but people don't respect it. It's as if people feel entitled."
Hynde slams other pop stars who don't mind letting fans film at their concerts because "they want to be on social media." Before she goes on to criticize fans who do not respect artists' boundaries, she cites Bob Dylan as an example, since he "ensures phones are sealed in a bag before a show," adding that, regardless, "people will still sneak in a camera or phone … It reminds me of monkeys wanking in full view of the people standing around their enclosures … and no one seems to understand why artists don't like it."
Hynde wraps up her statement by discussing other places she thinks are inappropriate for the public to film, including museums: "I don't bother to go to exhibitions anymore after my nightmare experience at the Van Gogh retrospective."
Other artists have found clever ways to restrict filming at concerts. Notably, for Harry Styles's One Night in Manchester concert before Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally dropped, Styles provided disposable cameras for fans and secured phones away in pouches to make sure the album would not leak. Bruno Mars, who recently performed at the new Rogers Stadium, also implemented a phone-free policy for his Las Vegas residency.
While Hynde has no recent plans to tour, she did write on her social media platforms that she is "putting songs together for the next Pretenders album … we are thinking of doing some shows next year." If you do attend one of their shows next year, make sure to put your phone away!

Montreal-via-the-Rockies experimental R&B artist Mind Bath has announced a new album, Aqueous, arriving September 4 via Lighter Than Air, alongside an accompanying debut novel courtesy of Metatron Press on the same day. The artist has now also released a single from the album, "Seasons Change and So Do I Bitch."
Aqueous will see Mind Bath touch on queer liberation, trauma and resistance in both the novel and the album, which includes a collaboration with fellow Canadian singer Beverly Glenn-Copeland.
Speaking about the new single released today, Mind Bath described the song as "super cheeky and fun, yet rooted in mindfulness and freedom."
The artist continued, "Me, Nick Ferraro, and Forever were in a makeshift studio overlooking a lake, instruments stoned and the song composing itself. I wrote the lyrics and melody in 20 minutes and recorded it in one take. It was my first time experiencing that kind of clarity and ease in my songwriting."

Alt-pop singer-songwriter Lauv has announced his departure from Khalid's It's Always Summer Somewhere Tour, citing the need to focus on his mental health.
Lauv announced the news late yesterday (June 2) in a statement posted on Instagram, writing, "I've been trying to be strong enough to get back out there and share this music with all of you — but I have to be honest with myself and with you: I'm deeply struggling right now, and I need to step away for a little while to take care of my mental health."
After apologizing to his fans, Khalid, and everyone else affected, the artist born Ari Staprans Leff added, "If being open about this right now helps even one person look at their feelings and try to address what's going on, then hopefully something good will come from it."
Khalid immediately showed his support, posting a photo of the two of them and writing in the caption, "I wish you an abundance of love, light, and clarity through your dark times. Seeing you perform and do what you're passionate about every night has been such a pleasure and I know for a fact that when you are healed, you will continue to do even more great things."

Grand Prairie, AB-hailing country artist Tenille Townes released a new album, The Acrobat, in April, and now she's announced that she'll be trapezing her way across Canada with a winter tour.
The Living Room Tour will begin in Cranbrook, BC, this November, and she'll play shows across Alberta and Saskatchewan throughout the month.
After taking December off, the trek will resume in January 2027 with East Coast dates in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

The annual IronFest community festival is set to return to the Labrador City Recreation Area on Booth Avenue on August 8, and the artist lineup has now been unveiled.
Headliners include JUNO Award-winning country music artist Dean Brody, alternative rock mainstays Finger Eleven and Celtic rock group Derina Harvey Band. The festival will also feature a set from DJ Kyrei. All acts will perform on the same day.
The festival has been dubbed the largest outdoor festival in Labrador City, and will also feature local talent from within the community. A local band will open the festivities on the main stage before the headliner's performance.

Influential singer-songwriter, actor, producer and author Sara Bareilles is returning with her first new album in seven years, as well as a North American tour behind that project that will make a lone Canadian stop in Toronto in September.
The follow-up to 2019's Amidst the Chaos, Good Grief is due August 28 on Epic Records and features a collaboration with Brandi Carlile. A documentary capturing the making of the record entitled Sara Bareilles: Good Grief had its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival earlier this week.
Bareilles will hit the road for the Good Grief tour on September 9 in Boston, MA. Shortly thereafter, she'll cross over the Canadian border to perform at Toronto's Massey Hall on September 15 ahead of wrapping the trek stateside in Seattle, WA, on October 19.

Ottawa-hailing, singer-songwriting duo Kalle Mattson and Andrew Sowka have announced their new album Pine Trees in a Perfect Row as summersets.
The follow-up to 2023's small town story arrives August 28, and was written "to be a (complicated) love letter to Northern Ontario and small town Canadian identity and experience," as explained by Mattson. "It's a collection of songs about real Canadian stories, and a character study of a landscape and place that is rarely written about in popular music."
According to press materials, each track from Pine Trees in a Perfect Row is based on versions of real people and stories that serve as a "sonic autoethnography" that explores the intersection of memory, class and place. "While the album is rooted in the idea of the Canadian small town, it's not just a 'Canada' record; it's a look at Canadian identity on a personal and specific scale, with the intention of speaking to a (hopefully) universal sentiment: that you never really leave your home," Mattson elaborated.
The album is previewed today by the single "Canada," which explores small Northern Ontario towns, with each verse representing a season, starting in summer and ending in spring.

Once-iconic TV station MuchMusic has become a TikTok channel in recent years, and now its Quebec counterpart is going the same way, as TikTok has announced that it's teaming up with MusiquePlus to relaunch the brand.
MusiquePlus will relaunch exclusively on TikTok on June 11 at @MusiquePlus. New content is being created through the local production company Attraction — hopefully highlighting the province's weird and wonderful history of guitar music.
A press release describes the new format as like this: "Designed as a space to discover new and established artists, the MusiquePlus revival on TikTok will include a new generation of VJs and creators, with a focus on highlighting music, culture and entertainment in an experience that amplifies Quebec's creative voices."
MusiquePlus launched in 1986 and was MuchMusic's francophone sister channel, based in Quebec. Just like MusicMusic, it failed to survive the rise of the internet as the primary platform for music discovery.
Recent owner V Media Group scrapped MusiquePlus and replaced the channel with ELLE Fictions in 2019. MusiquePlus has been dormant since then, while MuchMusic returned as a TikTok account in 2021.

After celebrating 40 years together as a band on an anniversary tour this spring, the Afghan Whigs are ready to start their next chapter: they've announced their forthcoming new album, Soft Control (out August 21 via Royal Cream / BMG), as well as an accompanying North American tour, which will bring them to Canada for a Toronto concert this November.
The Afghan Whigs will support the record on tour in Europe and the UK this fall before hitting the North American road starting November 4 in Orlando, FL, with special guests Night Moves. About halfway through the run, they'll cross the border into Canada to play Toronto's Concert Hall on November 11, ahead of completing the trek stateside on November 21 in Austin, TX.
Tickets go on sale to the general public in select markets Friday (June 5), following ongoing presales; general sales for the Toronto gig, meanwhile, start today at 11 a.m. ET. As is tradition every month, Paramount+ is back with a fresh new slate of titles for June 2026.
After yesterday's (June 1) arrivals of Brokeback Mountain, Hailey Rose and Topuria Matador, today brings Dirty Dancing, all six seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and a PAW Patrol special for those of us under the age of seven.
This month also brings weekly new episodes of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation and Dutton Ranch, both of which arrive every Friday.
June 12 is an especially big day for Jackass fans, as Jackasses 1–3, Bad Grandpa and Jackass Forever hit the streamer.

Wednesdays and Saturdays just got a whole lot more fun in Peterborough: Musicfest has announced its annual live music programming, with concerts running from June 27 to August 19 in Del Crary Park.
Joining this year's festivities are Gowan, Neon Nostalgic, Good Lovelies, Sass Jordan, Lighthouse, Tyler Joe Miller, Julian Taylor, Dwayne Gretzky, Crash Test Dummies, Trans-Canada Highwaymen, Crystal Faith and the Dreamboats.
The adjacent Future Sound Series will additionally host Irish Millie, Ty Wilson, Lotsy, Carling Stephen, Joanna Bronson, Graeme Jonez, Alycia Hebert, JJ Thompson, Georgia Rose, Jeff Biggar, James N. Wilson, VANCAMP, the Colton Sisters and Jeanne Truax.

Toronto community newspaper West End Phoenix is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a benefit show this fall.
The Seasons in the Sun will happen on September 25 at Palais Royale, and boasts a lengthy lineup featuring Ron Sexsmith, Shakura S'Aida, Tom Wilson, Vivek Shraya, Jason Collett, Nardos Almaz, Lee Rose, Lucas Silveira, David Wall, Annabelle Chvostek, Dave Bidini, Don Kerr, Ryan Myshrall, Christa Couture, Kelly LaForme, Tara Slone, Friendly Rick, Neema Bickerseth, Regina Gently, Harley Olivia, Emily Steinwall, My Pop Choir, Lindsay Goodtimes and Jen Goodwin. Ian Goodtimes and the Sundowners will act as the backing band.
Proceeds for the event will support West End Phoenix and independent journalism. Early bird tickets are on sale for $77 now until August 1, then the price rises to $90.
