In fact if one looks at this page one will be amazed to find that in dozen odd cities they serve across India numbers are at least 20 k at each place and per school number of kids is also large but only Indore has so less children...

AHMEDABAD: A labour dispute at India's largest cooking oil company Ruchi Soya's Patalganga unit in Maharashtra has disrupted palmolein oil and sunflower oil supply across Maharashtra, Gujarat and parts of Madhya Pradesh.

Sarvesh Shahra, who heads Ruchi Soya's FMCG division, acknowledged that the strike has disrupted supplies. "Since the third week of December, production at our Patalganga unit (processing 0.33 million tonnes annually) has been disrupted. The union at the plant has certain demands which we are negotiating so as to resume operations. Our units in Kandla, Nagpur, Indore and Mangalore have stepped up their supplies focusing on consumer packs from half litre to five litre to ensure regular supply and keep prices on check," he said.

The company has a refining capacity of 3.2 million tonnes annually and crushing capacity of 4.1million tonnes annually.

A union leader said delayed increase in salaries of employees has led to the disruption. "Over 600 technical workers of Ruchi Soya are demanding salaries to be increased by 6,000 a month since the past one year. With the company not relenting to our demand we have taken certain steps since the first week of December which might disrupt their operations," said Kamgar Congress Union president Babu Thomas.

Currently technical staff is getting a salary of 4,300 a month and a person with a work experience of more than 20 years is getting maximum 6,000 salary a month, he said.

"In the unit, there are only two boiler operators whereas there should be four. These workers were doing a 12-hour shift with no holiday for the past six months. We are ensuring that people work for only 8 hours, get their weekly off and don't work on holidays," he added. Thomas is also the vice president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee.

According to people close to the development, Ruchi Soya has offered to increase salary by 4,500 a month but the offer has not been accepted by the union.

Edible oil industry sources say supplies have been irregular for past one month and no deliveries have been made since January 2. National players such as Adani and Cargill and regional brands like Liberty are learnt to have stepped up supplies to fill the breach.

"The company was earlier quoting soyabean oil and sunflower oil prices but not any more. Edible oil prices are currently under check with edible oil supplies being increased by Adani, Cargill, Liberty Oil, Mewah Oil, Allana Oil, Gokul and others. We are worried that if demand for edible oil improves in the market then prices will further increase," said an edible oil manufacturer.

Brokers and traders, who had done forward contracts with the company, are worried about receiving delivery. "We enjoy good relations with our business partners and didn't anticipate the strike. As soon as the operations resume we will be honoring the contracts," said Shahra, who added that unions were a big challenge for industrial units in Maharashtra.

Both the union and the company have decided to mutually sort the issue and have not approached the police. "The issue was brought to our notice but no case has been filed and we consider it to be an internal labour problem. The issue has not led to any law and order problem in the area," said Khalapur Police Station (Raigad district), police inspector, I S Patil.

Among all the IIMs IIM Indore has this unique programme where they send MBA participants to district visit for one week during their course.
Needless to say cooperation by MP govt has also been important

This year they covered all 45 districts of M.P>, and I browsed through reports on tribal districts.
All reports are written in a very macro way,we met this , we observed that.
From an MBA student much can be expected, some sort of data, cost benefit analysis, SWOT.

1. there is no standard template for reports different groups have used different formats
2. In many cases it seems work was divided between different members and so change in font and spacing as one moves from one section to other is apparent
3. in many cases most of report is devoted to what a particular scheme is about or statistics about the district. these can be found anywhere , they should ive insights not platitudes
4. Jan sunwai was shown around as model but except one or two group which asked for its auditing and time bound resolution no one asked that what was need of this "darbar" like institutions in democratic polity. How are the normal channels working?
5. even for MNERA and Indira Awas yojna ( one roup calls it "awaj" yojna and report is uploaded un corrected on website) no data is presented
6. taking arguments given by officials like people here are lazy,do not want to work or working in cities is fashionable so they do not work here, on face value is not something expected from inquisitive minds
7. It would have been better to make these visits a research study (which could be funded by government of India or MP). You could easily take 2-3 schemes ( which in fact happened Jan sunwai, MNREGS, Indira Awas and self help group) and compare cross district data. It would have given valuable insights into implementation into tribal/non tribal, urban/non urban, lower caste/on lower caste districts or villages as sampling would have been random and there would be little observer bias as researchers are from out of state, neither govt official, nor NGO hired by govt.
8. simple time motion studies to see whether a particular work being done is being done in best way, or for example HR case study on a rural administration or supply chain case on transfer of PDS or organization behavior case on self help group would have been wonderful

BHOPAL: A Munnabhai MBBS scenario unfolded in Madhya Pradesh as six government medical colleges were found to be training at least 114 potential doctors who gained admission by fraud. The fear is there may be several doctors from these institutions who would have got in the same way and graduated and may be currently practicing.

A government probe found that the students, mostly from rich families, had been joining MBBS courses since 2009 by paying crores between them to hire practicing doctors and talented medical students from UP, Bihar and elsewhere to write the pre-medical test on their behalf, forging photographs and signatures.

Medical education department sources said the middlemen had charged Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh from each student.
The fraudulent admissions into MBBS courses in Madhya Pradesh were part of an elaborate scam in which photos of imposters, instead of the actual aspirants, were pasted on the PMT application forms and admit cards, a government probe has revealed. This has now led to suspicions that some government officials linked to PMT tests may have been involved.

State minister for medical education Mahendra Hardia confirmed that 114 people had gained admission to MBBS courses through fraudulent means. "Imposters wrote the PMT for these people. The committee found that signatures and photographs submitted were clearly forged," he added.

The probe, headed by the state's joint director of medical education, submitted its report last month but the findings were revealed only on Wednesday. The investigation was ordered on complaints lodged in 2009.

The probe found that 26 of these fraudulent admissions happened in Bhopal, 36 in Gwalior, eight in Indore, 21 in Sagar, 15 in Jabalpur and eight in Rewa district.

The medical education department had filed a police complaint and FIRs have been registered against 56 students. Some 50 others have been suspended from their colleges. The Rewa Medical College has on its own filed a complaint with the district SP to book the eight identified students there.

But even before the committee submitted its final findings, the state medical education department had attempted a damage limitation exercise, rushing to introduce biometric identification system for PMT applicants. Admission seekers for MBBS courses in all government medical colleges have to henceforth provide their biometric thumb impressions twice - first before writing the exam and then during counselling.

Solar Power plant in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited will set up its biggest solar (green) power station of 50 megawatts in the electricity-starved Madhya Pradesh.

"We are setting up our biggest solar power project at an estimated cost of around Rs 700 crore in Rajgarh district. NTPC will sell the entire power generated from this project to Madhya Pradesh," NTPC officials said today.

"The government will soon ink a power purchase agreement with NTPC to procure energy from this project," they said.

According to them, NTPC has kickstarted the process of setting up five MW and 15 MW solar stations in Orissa, Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh but the company's biggest non-conventional energy project would be set up in Madhya Pradesh.

"In all, we are working on generating over 100 MW solar power energy projects across the country right now," they said.
