It came half year later than expected, but Nokia has finally and quietly launched a test version of its Music Store for Indian consumers where users can experience and buy varieties of music items for their mobile devices.

Nokia Music Store is still in beta phase as it is not possible to download or buy any content from the online store, for now it is only listen to 30 seconds clips for now and some privileged users with a PIN.

The store seemed to carry a large selection of Indian music across different genres, which included music in regional Indian languages as well. The store also has music contents from major brands like Universal, Sony and a large group of local ones. International music is also available in the Nokia music sto... .. .

I am afraid you will say if I had not anything better to write about than the study based on an unrealistic expectation, I had better have been quiet; but in the absence of anything else to do I have no choice but to mention Generator Research's study which predicts that Apple will overtake Nokia in terms of Smartphone sales by 2013!

I don't know, maybe I am wrong, but this is yet another unrealistic predictions that are proving to be as accurate as the 7 day forecast from the local TV weatherman.

According to documents that appeared on the US Federal Communications Commission's Web site, Nokia has received regulatory approval to start selling Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, cheaper and 3G-less version of the Nokia 5800 XM.

According to the Symbian Foundation's "catalyst and futurist" David Wood, Symbian will release the first beta version of its open-source mobile operating system within the next few weeks, and expects that first devices powered with the foundation software will hit retail during the first half of 2010.

The first Symbian Foundation OS with the code name Symbian^2, for which the source code is available on the Mercurial repositories on the Symbian developer website, is expected to reaches functionally complete state and begin beta testing by end of this month.

Nokia made some people quite angry some while ago when they released the first Major update for the Nokia 5800 and decide to make it only available to EMEA and APAC consumers while the North American users were left in the dark with no support at all.

The notoriously buggy NAM version of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has been waiting for the first proper update for months and those who own this phone should be pleased knowing that after quite a long time, Finnish company has finally made available the latest firmware update (v21.x.xxx) to US customers.

As we predicted earlier this morning, Nokia has reacted quickly and strongly to last week's Guardian report that world's largest maker of mobile phones is working on a high-end Smartphone based on the Android platform that was supposed to be shown in September at Nokia World 2009.

Nokia insists that comments reported by Guardian and others were untrue, adding that "There is no truth to this story whatsoever." "Everyone knows that Symbian is our preferred platform for advanced mobile devices." Said an unnamed Nokia spokesman.

As I have already said, it would be a surprising move if Nokia were to launch an Android handset and dumb Symbian after it has invested years and hundreds of millions of Euros to take the full control over the OS and set up an entirely new open-so... .. .

First of all you should know that Nokia has managed to fix the security flaw and the latest firmware is not hackable with any of the currently available hacking methods.

Time Machine: Freeware & Easy To Handle Timer Application Gets Major Update

Well, it's a stopwatch and there's not much to say about this cute freeware application except it is optimized for touch user interface and is very easy to handle with a big 'Count Up', 'Count Down', 'Stop', 'Reset' and the 'Exit' button.

Time Machine lets you count the remaining or passed time for what ever purpose you can imagine and that's basically all it does but it does it well and you can use it whenever you need a basic countdown tool.

Time is measured in intervals of one second and for the countdown function you need to use the up arrows above the numbers to adjust the start time and than use 'Count Down' and 'Stop' buttons to start and stop/pause the timer. Alarm function is als... ..

Greenpeace International has published its twelve Guide to Greener Electronics, and Finnish mobile phone giant stays in 1st place with the same score of 7.5 that it scored in v.11.

Nokia scores maximum points for its comprehensive voluntary take-back programme, which spans 84 countries providing almost 5000 collection points for end-of-life mobile phones.

I just want to give everyone a quick heads up that Nokia has rolled out yet another firmware update for their award-winning Eseries device!

Firmware upgrade for Nokia E71 version 300.21.012 is now available through Nokia Software Updater for most of the generic product codes from EMEA and APAC region and is expected to be available for the rest of the world (NAM and branded devices) shortly.

Unfortunately full change log is not available at the moment but as you would imagine, the firmware update is always recommended because it usually improves the performance and reliability!

Well my N97 arrived from Nokia, it's a white version made in Finland not that makes any real difference in my personal opinion but it's just what it is.

I've waited until I updated the firmware today as felt that was the right and fair thing to do especially as I got off to false a start.

This was entirely due to the Ovi Suite 1.1 included in the box I wont dwell on this to much other than to say it took 2hr 25 min to download and install the 9 parts I had selected and I wasn't happy or impressed to say the least. It actually got much wor... .. .

So, I know a lot of you were wondering about the speakers in the N97. Honestly, I don't think they're that bad. but they are a lot different than those found in the 5800.

I was messing around tonight and noticed that basically the bass line was absent, almost entirely, from my tracks when I played them through the internal speakers.

Of course, the output is brilliant over headphones and I can't really fault it at all for that. If I had to guess, I would say Nokia tuned these speakers much more for voice-calls and not for music. The fidelity is very treble heavy and seems to boo... .. .

Symbian Exchange & Exposition (SEE 2009) Announced!

The main annual gathering of the Symbian community has had several different names over the years. In the early years after the formation of Symbian Ltd, the event was called the Developer Conference or the Developer Exposition which is followed with the unconventional name Symbian Exposium has been used for a couple of years.

In more recent times, the name adopted has been the Symbian Smartphone Show and now, the first Symbian Foundation annual gathering will be named as Symbian Exchange & Exposition and it will take place on 27-28 October, at Earls Court 2, in central London (the same venue as the 2008 event).

The SEE 2009 is basically a the open source replacement for Symbian Smartphone show, an informal 'unconference' in which everyone participates, but there'll also be key... .. .

First Firmware Update For N97 To Be Released Tomorrow - Change Log Is In Da' House!

The first firmware update for the Nokia's flagship Smartphone has been a hot topic of discussion in the blogosphere this morning and now, Nokia Conversations Twitter account has officially confirmed the news that Nokia N97 will be getting the first public firmware update tomorrow (July 1st).

As you would imagine, the firmware update is always recommended as it usually improves the performance and reliability of the phone, reduce number of bugs and brings functionality optimizations across many pre-installed applications. The update is expected to be available over-the-air (FOTA) or through The Nokia Software updater as well so there is no excuse for not experimen... .. .
