Government to reopen Nasandura hotel

The government will re-open Nasandura Palace Hotel, according to Dr Ahmed Sawad, the minister of tourism, arts and culture, reports Miadhu. Sawad said the decision to re-open Nasandura was made because of a delay in opening another hotel in Male’ by the Shangri-La hotel chain and to increase state revenue. Maldives to ban shark export

The ban on exporting shark products will become effective in March 2010, the Ministry of Fisheries has said. Speaking at a news conference held at Dharubaaruge last Wednesday, the Minister of Fisheries Dr Ibrahim Didi said that the revenue earned from tourism was five times higher than that made from exporting shark products.
