New Book Series Commences!

In the tradition of branching out and trying new things, we've released the first book in a new set of stories and are excited to tell you more about it. No, it's not a comic series, but if you like good books and love the vampire lore, then you'll dig The Vampire Flynn.

Set in modern day Philadelphia, The Vampire Flynn is a trilogy that invades the life of a human doctor turned vampire assassin. With the death of two people and the prick of a set of fangs, Peter Dawes is transformed into an immortal and dragged fully into the vampire underworld. But even when he assumes the identity of Flynn, there is more to Peter than meets the eyes. A mortal destiny has followed him into immortality and a reckoning demands he decide between who he once was and who he is today.

The first part of Peter's story, Eyes of the Seer is now available through our online store. Check out the store and the special Flynn section of our website for more information.

Never fear, our Shadow Fox stories shall continue as well! We'll keep you posted as more updates are available.

Be sure to check out our site for updates, we hope to start showing off the cover and the amazing pencil work of our resident comic artist, David Faught, within the next couple of weeks. ***** Something Sinister... *****

... this way comes.

For the past few years, our primary focus has been to relay the tales of Philadelphia's resident superhero, Shadow Fox, but we've noted to you before that the city of Philadelphia has many layers. Get ready to be exposed to one of them.

A new novel trilogy, penned by our resident wordsmith Julie Staples, explores the world of vampires, particularly of one named Flynn who serves as the most dangerous and deadly immortal of Philadelphia. A sadistic and bloodthirsty assassin, Flynn could be counted as a monster and nothing more, but there is another side to this vampire - a human side, with a destiny that will not let him go. What happens when sight and vision converge, and when a man with great power becomes a vampire-seer? Find out when the first book of The Vampire Flynn Trilogy, "The Eyes of the Seer", comes out in early 2007.

What's New at SFC?

After a short sabbatical, we have a lot to tell you all about. For starters, if you haven't checked out the main page recently, then we encourage you to click here and see all of the changes we've made to our site.
There, you'll notice that we're paving the way to expand our area of focus. We've decided that it's not enough for us to produce an independent comic - we want to help comic readers explore indie comics in general and are fulfilling a desire we've had for some time to partner with other visionaries in this quest. Right now, the listings and offerings are a bit scarce, but as time goes by we'll be adding more information, more listings, and more indie titles in our online store. But, besides telling comic readers about our independent brethren, we also wanted to list our services, which you can find by clicking here, offer our commission services, and crack the door slightly to allow for submissions as well. Scan through those pages and don't hesitate to contact us and let us know how we can help.

That all aside, we have some important information about our projects to share with you.

Well, after a year, we still don't have Issue 2 completed, but while we're delayed, it's been for a very good reason. Jason and I celebrated the birth of our daughter, Ainsley, in January and were simultaneously thrown out of the game for a little while. But now, we're back and Issue 2 is currently in production with the fond hope that we get a bit more regular about releases.
Issue 2 will feature the incredible penciling skills of artist David Faught, a man we consider it a privilege to be working with. As we have pages completed, we'll show them to you, but to give you a little teaser, here is page one of Issue 2, The Beginning and the End, Pt. 1 of 5. Click on the thumbnail to see the larger image.

We're a bit further along in production than that, but this is why they call it a teaser. Next week, we'll show you the completed page one and page two as a teaser, but you have to check back here to see it.

Lastly, in the novel front, The Shadow Fox Chronicles, Pt. 2 - In the Shadow of the Flame is completed and in the editing stage. We'll be releasing that, we predict, in late 2006, but our cover artist Ryan Stegman is once again whipping up a cover and we'll be showing that off within the next couple of weeks. Once again, you know what to do if you want to see it. Check back here. :-)

We'll be reporting back to you all again soon. For now - keep your eyes on the fox, fellow comics fanatics. I'm out for now.

Julie Staples - Creator/Writer and Insane Asylum Escapee.

Help Those Affected By the Hurricane

To interrupt the comic book merriment for a moment...

All of you, no doubt, know about Hurricane Katrina and the devistation caused by this massive storm. A few of us have friends from the New Orleans area that have been severely affected by this tragedy and this has been our cue to get out there and get anyone we can to help out with the relief effort.

How can you help? Here are a few ways.

The American Red Cross needs a LOT of financial help right now to provide for hurricane victims' immediate needs. This includes the rescue of people still stranded in the middle of flood areas, feeding and providing water and shelter to the homeless, and caring for the sick and the elderly. If you've been tempted to give to the Red Cross, then do it now because they are out there trying to save lives. It only takes a few dollars to make a difference if we're all pitching in. As the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy once said, "Few will have the greatness to bend history; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events..." I'd like to think the same is true for giving to those in need. One dollar might not be a big deal, but if one dollar was donated for every person in the United States, then the Red Cross would have almost 300 million dollars in their relief fund. Imagine that.

Have some spare change laying around? You can give that to the Red Cross too. The Red Cross is working in affiliation with the Coinstar machines you see in your local grocery store to accept your change as a donation. Click here for more information.
Have an extra room in your home you can spare to someone who is homeless? Craigslist has a listing of rooms for people who are in need that you can list your room on. Be sure to also contact FEMA with your information if you can provide lodging to someone.

Finally, a fund has been set up for our friends in New Orleans and their church home in Slidell, which has undoubtedly suffered substantial damage due to the Hurricane. To help Sovereign Grace Fellowship, then visit this page for more information on donating to their fund.

And if you seriously don't have a dollar to spare, then consider giving blood or volunteering at the Red Cross, but contribute somehow. There are thousands of people who need this assistance and thousands of ways we can make a difference.

Peace,
The Shadow Fox Comics Creative Team
