Department of Library and Information Science organised General Orientation course in collaboration with UGC-HRDC. A total 33 Assistant Professor, Assistant Librarians from Colleges and Universities of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab attended the course during which 47 resources person delivered the lecture on various topics.

Won Team Trophy (1st Prize) in Mime Competition held on 6th October 2012.

Students from B.Lib.I.Sc and M.Lib.I.Sc participated in Mime and Play events organized by Department of Students Welfare (Display Your Talent) University of Jammu, Jammu and won Team Trophy (1^st Prize) in Mime Competition held on 6^th October 2012.

M.Lib.I.Sc Students (2015-16) participated in DELNET sponsored 2nd Indian public Library Conference at Delhi from March 7-9, 2016

National Librarian's Day Celebrated in the Department of Library & Information Science on August 19th, 2016

The Department of Library & Information Science, University of Jammu organized and celebrated the "National Librarian's Day" on August 19th, 2016 on the occasion of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan 124th Birth Anniversary in which faculty members, research scholars and the students of the department participated. The function was organized by the students and started with the lightening of the Inaugural Lamp by Prof. & Head of the Department Dr. Sangita Gupta, Mr. Pramod Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor and Class Representatives of B.Lib.I.Sc and M.Lib.I.Sc. The students of B.Lib.I.Sc and M.Lib.I.Sc highlighted the achievements of D. S. R. Ranganathan. The students also organized cultural programme. Prof. Sangita Gupta in the end delivered a motivational speech to the gathering highlighting relevance of Ranganathan theory in the present era.
