Here is a neat site that with little more than a glance will tell you what people are talking about on Twitter and thus likely across the internet today in real time. You can see the results changing before your eyes literally as the results are being updated almost by the second. Here is what they say on their "About" page.

Wal-Mart - Challenging Craigslist?

About everyone is aware of Craigslist, the #1 classified ad site online. Wal-Mart evidently has hopes of cutting into this business as they now have a classified ad site of their own in beta version. As you would expect from a company like Wal-Mart the site is quite impressive. Craigslist could have some real serious competition down the road.

The best way to check the site out is to go to http://walmart.oodle.com/cities/
and take it from there. Navigating the site is all a very intuitive process making it easy to get around and find what you want. It is very well put together. If you would like to start at the home page go to http://walmart.oodle.com/

Make sure on the menu bar where you are to choose a category to click on the "see more" link. When they say "see more" they mean what they say. I think you will like what you find.

The Nakagin Capsule Tower - Bye, Bye

You have probably been hearing today about the probable demolition of the Nakagin Capsule Tower if you have been surfing the net. It looks like it is coming down in a couple of years and while it might have been a sight to see who could have lived there? The Tower was made up of boxes bolted to a central frame, 4 bolts I believe, boxes which people lived in. These were one person rooms (kind of like a jail cell), a modified shipping container of 4 x 2.5 meters (that is 13' x 8'). Each box, for that is what they were, were pre-assembled in a factory and then added to the frame by crane and bolts.

This was no small structure being 14 stories tall with 140 capsules. It was a first of its kind sort of building and one can only hope a last of its kind if men and women are expected to live in such confines. The building is still standing in Tokyo and while one might not want to live in one of its apartments one can still admire the unique architecture of Kisho Kurokawa. Better look quick however.
