One additional note - if you're having trouble moving the cleaned up virtual machine back, try the following:

http://communities.vmware.com/thread/177181;jsessionid=92CE51F4A5123065C2D94FA6E8F3A145?tstart=0

For anyone interested in what was causing the copy failure even though VMware Fusion was not running nor was the vmware-vmx process running we were able to narrow it down, using TeamViewer, to the Applications folder within the Virtual Machine's Package and by deleting it the copy proceed without issue and the Virtual Machine is up and running back on the internal drive drive.

Note: Deleting the Applications folder within the Virtual Machine's Package is safe to do as it is self-regenerating however be sure to shutdown, not suspend the Virtual Machine before deleting it.

Anyway, John it was nice talking with you and thanks for letting me make the remote connection to make this easier to clear up. Have a good one. Woody

@Stu - not in the near future. I'm going to remain the lead on those products, but the API is going to be my dominate role for the foreseeable future.

@Gordon - I suppose "hack around a 16 item limit that we don't document" could be considered computer sciency :-)

@everyone else - thanks!

@Gorden -

I couldn't remember why we switched away from ADO. I'll have to keep that in mind when I get back to Inbox - though it doesn't look like that's going to be anytime soon.

That is pretty cool. I remember looking at Firebird way back in the day for the same purpose.
If you recall, though, one reason Inbox went to XML files is that we tried using in-memory ADO recordsets, which would explode in both size and inefficiency with large subscription lists. Do you still see that problem?

I had an analogous experience in my Intro to C class when we got to pointers. Much of the class grasped the concept almost immediately. We then spent an entire week worth of lectures trying to get the rest of the class to understand. I don't think they ever did.

I think you still see differentiation along this axis among "good" developers. I've watched people debug problems "by intuition." It might've been luck, but I tend to think they just had a really good internal model and the ability to reason about it very quickly.
