Experts agree that the case known as American Needle vs. NFL could easily be the most significant legal turning point in the history of American sports. If the high court rules in favor of the NFL, the development will be more important to the sports industry than Curt Flood&#039;s battle against the reserve clause in the 1970s; than baseball&#039;s collusion cases in the mid-&#039;80s; than the NFL players union&#039;s epic fight for free agency in a series of antitrust cases that stretched over a decade; and even than the enactment of the Sports Broadcasting Act in 1961, which is the legislation that is the foundation of the NFL&#039;s television riches.

Danny brought up the Seahawks&#039; astonishing injury rate last year, and asked how it was that the Patriots could survive the loss of Tom Brady while the Seahawks couldn&#039;t get past their own boo-boos.<div class="feedflare">

FOXBORO — It was the shot heard ’round the NFL world. A blitzing Bernard Pollard may have failed to get the sack, but the Kansas City Chiefs’ safety dealt a crippling blow to the New England Patriots’ attack when he slammed into Tom Brady’s left knee as the NFL’s reigning MVP released a downfield pass to wide receiver Randy Moss in the team’s regular-season opener at Gillette Stadium last Sept. 7.<div class="feedflare">

Pick the one team that wasn&#039;t in the NFL playoffs in 2008 that will be in 2009. That&#039;s easy. New England is it. Tom Brady is back, so they will be back. It&#039;s that simple. With Brady back running their high-octane offense, the Patriots will win the AFC East and push for a Super Bowl.<div class="feedflare">

Nearby, Cleveland Browns cornerback and Glasgow resident Hank Poteat just grinned. There were 110 boys spread across the synthetic turf at Marcus Foster Memorial Stadium, a block away from Simon Gratz High in North Philly and miles away from where the Philadelphia Eagles play on the south side of town. But, Poteat knew, lessons learned here, in childhood, can help make the path clearer to adulthood for many of the boys collected on that green rectangle, many of whom are from the inner city and aren&#039;t as fortunate as Poteat, the son of an educator. Dr. H. Major Poteat is currently superintendent of the Winslow Township (N.J.) School District.<div class="feedflare">

Who&#039;s American&#039;s most hated NFL team? ESPN posed that question to fans in an unscientific poll. And the results revealed that the Dallas Cowboys are the most popular and most hated team in the league.<div class="feedflare">
