Too many job emails? Try Job feeds!

What is a Job feed anyway and why you should use them?

Let's face it. You post your resume at Nextjob.us anticipating that you will get nice Job offers. Now there are two ways to get them. Either prospective employers will contact you via phone or email or you search for those jobs at Nextjob.us and send your resume.

So your are fine with receiving Phone calls or emails from employers. In order to ease burden on you for pro-actively searching for jobs , we have an additional feature of send Jobs to you which matches your resume profile. Chances are, you may or may not like receiving emails (based on the fact that you are actively searching for Jobs or just try to see your worth in Job market!). So if you fall in second category, where you don't want to get automated emails from us but still want to keep yourself updated of new job postings that may interest you and you don't want to come at Nextjob.us at every hour to search for new jobs, what are your options!

Try Job feeds, it is the solution you are looking for. If you need a primer on automated feeds here is some reading material for you. In a nutshell, Job feeds are sort of automated search engines, that will fetch Jobs for your skill set (such as developer positions in Oracle or java or Sap and so on) and a region (a set of nearby states). You can subscribe to these Job feeds in a feed reader of your choice. Please click on following thumbnail to see a little slide show for the proof of concept.

How to create Job feeds

There are two places where you can save your Job feeds. In your control panel and in your choice of feed reader (bloglines, google, yahoo, netvives and so on). There are points to consider

You can save as many job feeds as you want

Each Job feed is configured to get Jobs posted for a particular skill set in a set of states.

You can save same Job feed in as many feed readers as you want and you can save it to your control panel as well.

Advantage of subscribing a Job feed is obvious , check out where job is posted, by whom and Job details

Advantage of saving same job feed in control panel is , if you like a bunch of jobs in your Job feed aggregator , you can simply logon to NextJob.us web site and apply to those jobs individually.

And now click on following thumbnail to check out the slideshow tutorial for creating a Job feed.

OpenID. What , why and how?

Can't remember dozen passwords? Say yes to OpenID

As a web citizen , sometimes you really feel annoyed when you have to go through another regsiteration process for a new cool web site that you have recently come across, and have to remeber yet another userid/password combo. What are the choices you have?

Use browser's Save password feature (its prone to registry hacks), and what if you have to visit this cool at your friend's compouter?

Use Some sort of thrid party password utilities , it has same disadvantages as above

Use same user ID and password for all web site, well if one password is compromised you have to change it for all of your favorites.

OpenID is the answer to all these problems. You don't have to save it anywhere, you can use it anywhere and best of all it is secure.

So what is OpenID anyway?

It's like a driver's license for the entire Internet. OpenID also simplifies signing in. With OpenID you only have to remember one username and one password. That's because you log into websites with your OpenID, so your OpenID is the only thing you have to make secure. Now, you might already use one username and one password online, but OpenID lets you do this in a secure way. That's because you only give your password to your OpenID provider, and then your provider tells the websites you're visiting that you are who you say you are. No website other than your provider ever sees your password, so you don't have to worry about an insecure website compromising your identity.

Is OpenID secure?

OpenID is no less (or more) secure than what you use right now. Most websites offer a service to e-mail you your password (or a new password) if you've forgotten it, which means that if someone breaks into your e-mail account, they can do just as much as they can if they get your OpenID's username and password. As long as your OpenID accounts are secure (yahoo/hotmail/gmail/facebook etc), your OpenID account is secure.

How do I get an OpenID?

To use OpenID you need an account with an OpenID Provider.

You might already have one

Many sites have already given their users an OpenID. You might already have one and not know it. If you don't have an account with one of these six websites (Nextjob.us uses these six for OpenID authentication), you can get one from them.

How do I log in with OpenID?

You click on your choice of openID provider at login page. Your browser then sends you to your OpenID provider to log in.

Log in with your username and password.

Tell your provider that the original website can use your identity. You are then sent back to the Nextjob.us website.

If it is your first visit, Nextjob.us asks confirms your name and email (Some Open ID providers share it with us).

Now you are all set to use nextjob.us

On your subsequent visits , you will simply perform steps 1-3 for authentication.

Please click on following thumbnail to see the slidshow of login process using OpenID.

You can add more than one Provider to your profile

Benefit of doing this are two

If one of your Provider site is down , you can switch to other

If you initially registered with One provider (say Yahoo) and after a month you accidently try to login using gmail as your provider ID , you will end up creating another profile , and then you will wonder where your Resume , Job feeds etc are vanished!

You can simple go to Profile screen after login and add another provider by simply login at the selected provider from your profile. After you are redirected from your OpenID provider, nextjob.us will link this new provider to your profile and now you can use both Yahoo and Gmail to login to your Nextjob.us account.

Yes it is possible with Next.us powerful Job-Resume matching engine. All you need to do is send your requirement via email to postjob@nextjob.us

You don't have to send us any specific format , special email, just include us in your distribution list when you send job requirement.

Posting Job Via Web

On the surface Job entry screen at employers.nextjob.us may not look exciting to you. After all you have seen it at various other Job portal. But have you noticed the little check box that says "Want to receive matched resume in email?"

Check this option to yes and you will receive matching resumes right in your Inbox! for 3 days. And you can re-activate the job whenever you want. Please click on the following thumbnail to see screen by screen explanation of these two exciting functionalty.

  <a class="highslide" title="Voila!
Points to note

You will have to login to nextjob.us (login link is there on the page) to view full contact information

It will be easier to goto homepage and click on matching resume link on your job posting to see all matching resumes.

If you prefer to post your Job via web, you will immediatly be tranfered to Search results page matching your Job requirements, though you will get more matching resumes in your email if you have checked the option.

After 2 days you will get a notification email that your Job is expired.

After 3rd day your matching resume queue will be cleared.

You can either re-post teh job or save resumes you like to your Bin (you will see this icon in full resume view window).

After watching this slideshow we hope you will be able to

Check your matchin resume

Send email to Candidates

Save Candidate resume to your Bin, so that you can quickly view them later (they will be visible on Home Page).
