Do you remember the times when we used to spend money on so called Palm-Reading devices that were predicting us the future? Well, after a while, these palm-reading things became a great security device.

The system is called PalmSecure, it is a biometric security device developed by Fujitsu. PalmSecure works by matching the vein pattern of a person seeking for access. It looks in the database and sees if the pattern recorded matches or not. If it does, then the access is granted.

The most common biometric security devices are the ones that require your fingerprint to have access but these are a lot more expensive and harder to manage. Fingerprints can be faked but a palm is harder to reproduce or maybe impossible because the system requires blood to be flowing so this security measure may be introduced in every little house soon.

The cause is unknown, but many researchers believe that these waves accelerate the tissues aging. The conclusion of this study is considered dangerous by the specialists, because we have almost the same tissue like rats have. So be careful when using your Cell Phone.

You can say bye bye to the tears produced by the onions when cutting them because a team of researchers from the USA made a pair of some special glasses that protect your eyes against irritant vapors, says “The Telegraph”.

The glasses are similar to the ones used by scuba-divers, having on the sides a special foam that protects the eyes. They have an anti-fog system too, being extremely efficient every time it’s getting hot in the kitchen. “This is a very simple solution but efficient for a problem that we all know about”, said Sonia Spencer, one of the invention distributors in England.

These special glasses are available in white or black and cost about 19 euro.

Everybody heard about Yeti (Nepal) named bigfoot in the USA, sasquatch in Canada, mapinguary in Brazil, yowie in Australia or sajarang gigi in Indonesia. The legendary creature - half man half monkey - has a less known version in India too, called mande barung, that is “forest man”. It is said that he lives in West Garo area, in Meghalaya, India. Many locals are sure that the “forest man” is alive lives between them, saying that they actually saw him.

He is vegetarian

Dipu Marak is one one of the few guys that believe in mande barung, he says that mande barung (”forest man”) looks like a monkey-man covered in black and grey hair, being 3 meters tall. He weights about 300 kilograms, is vegetarian and eats fruits, bark and roots, continued Marak.

What a witness says

Neblison Sangma, a chopper who works near the National Park Nokrek, on Garo hills, says that in November 2003, he met a mande barung: “I saw that creature very clear, on the other side of the river. He was breaking tree sprigs and eating their sap. I tried to photograph him, but unfortunately I didn’t have a camera at me.”

It remains an enigma

Even science can’t help at this subject. Far from Nokrek, there is another National Park on Garo hills, Balpakaram, known for his canon covered in vegetation and surrounded by spectacular ridges. Getting down in there is extremely dangerous, the most famous apparition of a mande barung was saw there in april 2002, when James Marak and a team of 14 officials were making a census of the reservation tigers. They all saw and described something that looks like an “yeti”.

“That tiny fragments of ice completely disappeared after some days, this being a perfect proof that we found ice. There were some voices who said that we found salt. Well, salt does not evaporate”, continued Smith.

All of this is based on a system that controls the cerebral waves. At the moment, the project isn’t made for all of us, but its target is having fun in a new way. It would be great especially for persons with physical disabilities that could relive life in this virtual world.

The technology is based on thee electrodes placed on the head that are able to capture the cerebral impulses and send them to a device connected at a computer, device that renders the information in virtual movements.

Made in 2003 by the American company Linden Lab, Second Life is the most popular virtual game, being a true world in cyberspace that has more than 14 millions members.

The idea was treated in the doctoral project of Peggy Penn at the Tilburg University in Holland. He says that among others, some rape victims recover very fast from their trauma if they talk about their experience and then write it down on a paper. The patients can rebuild the reality and add in their story a hero person that comes in the right moment and save them from the unpleasant situation. So, this way, the bad memories could disappear.

The shuttle is transporting into orbit one of the key sections of the Japanese Kibo laboratory and a set of installations for the toilet facilities onboard the Space Station.

The crew is made up of 7 members: six men and one woman, which will have 3 missions in space. They bill was to attach a new module to the Kibo laboratory, and after this, the room will have the biggest surface on the Space Station, enabling four researchers to work there at the same time.

Another section of the Japanese project has already been installed in the previous mission of the Discovery shuttle. We’re talking about a gigantic robotic arm, capable of manipulating materials and equipments for scientific experiments.

The third and final section of the Kibo laboratory will be brought into orbit in March 2009.

New radiocarbon dating suggests that Stonehenge represents giant tombstones to the dead for centuries, perhaps for the members of a ruling prehistoric dynasty.

Research suggests that the site was initially intended to be a cemetery since the time it was built 5000 years ago. The analysis of ancient human remains which were found at the site shown that people were buried there from about 3000BC until after the first large stones were brought there in 2500 BC.

Parker Pearson, the leader of the Stonehenge Riverside project, suggested that this new finding supports the theory that Stonehenge represented the “domain of the dead” to ancestor-worshiping ancient Britons.
