Emergency Campaign: Robot Damashii New Product Questionnaire

Bandai wants your feedback on future new products you would like to see being released from the Robot Damashii line through this emergency campaign: Robot Damashii New Product Questionnaire (ROBOT魂商品化希望アンケート).

This campaign is to commemorate Tokyo Toy Show 2009 as well.

Follow this link to the website for this survey. Once you agree to the terms and conditions, you can start to answer the questions and give your suggestions. No registration required.

Unfortunately, everything is in Japanese ^^;

You can specify up to three new series and items you would like to see in Robot Damashii, plus other general questions about it, like where do you buy them, comment on the design, and even the pacing of the release. ^^

Open for limited time though, the campaign has started since yesterday (July 17th), and will end on the 26th (next Sunday), so make sure you take the survey within next week if you're interested. ^^

Personally, I'm not too keen in Robot Damashii (very interested in their news, but not really about purchasing any of them ^^;), so I think I'll skip and let other customers and fans contribute more accurate answers. ^^

Will Bandai establishes similar campaign for the Gunpla section? Their server might hang the first minute it opens for access I believe XD

Become Your Own Plamo Kit

I super LOL-ed when I first read about this several days back XD

Bandai allows you to become an cosplay action figure of Kamen Rider or Char Aznable via Jibun Damashii, now you can make a plamo kit of yourself through the company's newest product line, Pellermodel.

The idea is quite simple actually, you select your favorite photo (or any person you like), print it on a sticker and apply it to the kit, and there you have it, your own model kit ^^

I vaguely recalled I did that using paper cut-outs when I was still a kid. XD

Anyway, for Pellermodel, you get a "Basic-M" unisex set, featuring a kit with molded joints, usable for both male and female character. Also included are test sheet for printing x2, sticker sheet x1 and a stand. You can download the software from Pellermodel's official site, which has the tools to help you prepare the stickers. There are templates of clothing you can choose from in the software, or just use your own design ^^

Done with the design, you can print them onto the sticker sheet included and apply them to the surface of the kit to complete the whole model. ^^

The kit stands about 100mm tall, and is just 2mm thick. It's capable of performing various action poses, thanks to the molded joints.

Time to see yourself performing some unhuman-like action poses XD

More information regarding the mysterious 1/72 YF-25 announced a few days ago.

Apparently, this is going to be a limited release, for Famima Dot Com's advance sales of tickets for Macross Frontier Theatrical Version. Limited in production, you need to pre-order this kit from the website if you're interested. The price is 6,025 Yen (inclusive of tax). More information will be released on Famima Dot Com soon.

YF-25 is a unit newly designed by Shoji Kawamori-sensei, which is the link between YF-24 and VF-25. It features a new head and canopy design, with seating built for two. It's capable for the transformation between Fighter, Gerwalk, and Batroid modes.

Two of Kotobukiya's latest kits, SRW OG 1/144 ART-1 and 1/144 "Linebarrels of Iron" Vardant Mid Range Support Type were released yesterday. Moeyo has images of the completed models for these two kits:

SRW OG 1/144 ART-1 - The most fascinating feature of this kit for me is the white stripes on the shield. It's actually being molded as a single white part and you assemble it onto the shield.
Makes the separated colors for Hi-Nu Gundam's shield looks like child's play ^^

1/144 Vardant Mid Range Support Type - Bundled with the long range artillery cannon pack for Hind Kind.

Toysdaily forum member secretzone just completed his straight assembled version of the just released BB Senshi Sangokuden Tenshouryu Koumei Nu Gundam - fastest review on this kit so far I believe ^^

It's pretty amazing to see how all those accessories can be mounted on a single BB Senshi kit ^^

Multiple forms for Koumei Nu Gundam, multiple combos between Koumei and his dragon/phoenix, beautiful multipurpose clear green parts - weapon effect parts/display base, plenty of gimmicks.

Can't wait to get mine ^^

Still in their prototypes it seems, but base on the weapons they carry, the one on the left should be the Gray Color Ver. The one wielding a knife on the right is the Sand Color Ver.

MG Exia Ignition Mode Review - Leg

Part 6 of Gunpla Secret Base's review on MG Exia Ignition Mode talks is on its leg.

Not only can the toe movable, the front portion of the shoe has a pivot joint for it to move to the left and right.

No more linked-movement type knee joint it seems. Quite a refreshing design. ^^

Comes with foil stickers to show the leg's GN Condenser in defective state. Just for the Ignition Mode I believe, they won't be in for the regular release I believe.

Two thumbs up to Bandai for designing the pull-out mechanism for the GN Blades' mount racks on the hip joints. ^^

Part from the knee joint can support the leg in kneeling position. Nice thinking there Bandai. ^^

Very sturdy-looking leg, and even more natural-looking as the shoe is able to stick to the surface better with the new joint design for the shoe.
Looking at all the reviews so far, I must say, this has got to be the best design in the entire MG series so far ^^

Almost forgot that today's the release date of BB Senshi Sangokuden Tenshouryu Koumei Nu Gundam ^^;

New characters introduced: Mokaku God Gundam, Pang Tong Jadg Doga, and Syukuyu Nobel Gundam. ^^

Koumei's Tenshouryu form is activated when he detaches his ReGZ-type mask O_O
The next round of new releases from Bandai Hobby Division is on the 23rd, featuring the long awaited MG Exia (3,990 Yen) and Exia Ignition Mode (5,250 Yen). Thew other two new items are Gundam Decal Vol. 12 (420 Yen each), and 1/8 Emotion Style Rei Ayanami (6,300 Yen).

Part 5 of Gunpla Secret Base's review on MG Exia Ignition Mode talks about its arm, and cape for Exia Repair.

The sliding frame for the forearm.

With so many parts made of different materials, I wonder how Exia would look like in just its inner frame.

Even the base for the beam saber on the shoulder armor is movable ^^

Ball joints for the base of the cape allows it to move freely - more dynamic pose for the cape

On a separate note, Bandai Hobby Division has finally unveiled the design of 1/8 Emotion Style Mari Illustrious Makinami, first announced at this year's Shizuoka Hobby Show two months ago.

And, it's not surprising to see why they kept her in secret now that the design is out. Mari will be wearing a new Plug Suit ^^

Announced quite some time ago that we'll be getting the Blu-Ray disc box set of Gundam Double Z TV series this year, but it seems that there are more than just HD quality anime in those two sets ^^

Gundam Dot Info announced that two short Gundam CG films will be included for the two sets, called "Gundam Frag." - short for Gundam Fragments. The film will be about glimpses of the daily and not-so-daily life on the battlefield of Universal Century (宇宙世紀の戦場の日常と非日常が垣間見えるショートフィルム。)

Release info:
* Part I (Episode 1 - 24) - September 25th release
* Part II (Episode 25 - 47) - November 25th release

36,750 Yen for each set (inclusive of tax).

Part 1 includes 2 opening themes and 1 ending theme from the first half of the series and a 48-page introduction booklet.

The first variation from Yamato's well received 1/24 AV-98 Ingram Unit 1 is CLAT Ver.?

Seems a bit unlikely at first glance, as the natural choice would have been Ota's Unit 2. Folks on the forum managed to unlock the link on Yamato, and revealed three large images of this item:

At the moment, there's no information whatsoever regarding this item on Yamato's website, whether this will be a regular or web shop limited release.

Then again, Patlabor fans must be really excited about this release. Being from the funniest episode in the entire TV series "CLAT Forever", this "CLAT Ver." is practically a non-existing mecha, even the organization of CLAT doesn't exist. XD One man's dream can generate so many fans for this mecha, and then this huge release, Shinge must be overjoyed XD

MG Exia Ignition Mode Review - Head

Gunpla Secret Base's review on MG Exia Ignition Mode has come to Part 4 - on the head, which is a part I'm really looking forward to ^^

Plenty of parts for the head - not only are the GN Stripes on the forehead are individually molded, the sideburns' vents are molded with tiny lines as well.

Much fiercer looking face design for Exia as compared to the 1/100 scale version.
It's also mentioned in this review that the face is rather smaller as compared to the helmet. ^^;

Parts for Exia Repair's head, with a single foil sticker for the eye included (plus another red dot for his Terminator eye) ^^
Never seen that before for a Gundam-type model kit XD

Exia Repair's completed head - never thought that a battle damaged component can be made into parts to be assembled as well. XD

For this review, Gunpla Secret Base listed three observations made from the runners:
(1) Under gate treatment seen on the runners for the GN Drive - plating version in the future? or extra precaution to prevent any careless cutting on those parts?

(2) Runners marked with "MG Exia" & "MG Inner Frame" - variations in the future?
This one's rather straight forward actually, and it has confirmed my belief that variations like Exia R2, Astraea and other are coming. There is an example of this in the past: MG F91. The runners for that particular MG are labeled "MG Gundam F91" and "MG Frame 1". The other was used for MG Crossbone and Crosbone Full Cloth. Without the exclusive marking of a particular model for its runners, they can be reused for others easily.

Actually, Bandai can reuse runners from this and that models for different variations regardless of what label they have if they want, since they are so expert at manipulating the arrangement of those parts on the runners ^^;

(3) Concentration or parts for Exia R2 seen. Kind of obvious already before the release of this MG eh? From the business perspective, why wouldn't Bandai release variations from the design of this MG ^^

Personally, I think R2 would be released much later than Astraea. Given that there are so many similarities between Exia and Exia R2, Bandai would most likely release something much different among the possible choices, which is Astraea. Type F is possible as well, but I believe Bandai would aim at something more conventional of a Gundam which will be accepted more widely among the fans. Avalanche Exia being Exia with extra armors would most likely be the last to be out (if there's one being planned), as the base is the same Exia we're getting this month, and the most expensive one as well. Example: Armored VF-25S and VF-25F came last being the most expensive releases in its series.
