I shot this new series on location above Grindelwald, Switzerland and in Chamonix, France. It’s an idea that I came upon whilst reading ‘Mountains of my Life’ by seminal alpinist Walter Bonatti. The saying goes that black crows (choucas) are the souls of climbers lost to the mountains.

I’m starting to work on series of closer observations. This is another Image to come out of the Silverton Colorado series I shot earlier in the year.

Wintertime in Monument Valley….It’s an amazing place to be. Very few people visit at this time of year and capturing the solitude of this wonderful place was such a pleasure.

With this series I’m playing with a compressed colour palette that reminds me of Kodachrome. For me it evokes the feeling of the wild west.

I love shooting pharmaceutical campaigns. So often it’s impossible to show a product so the visual idea is even more important.

This campaign was for a drug to help protect adults and children from the flu virus.

I worked closely with the good fellows over at Solid who created the CGI, and I must say…. it was a good experience.

I’m starting to delve into the mountain of personal work that came out of our last trip to Monument Valley. Having never explored the area properly I thought the best way to cover ground might be on horseback.

Here is one of the first prints. The colours were inspired by some old gold tone prints I once saw by photographer Edward S Curtis.

I was very excited to get a call from Florence Moll my French agent a couple of weeks ago. ” Le Monde would like you to shoot something for their Carte Blanche……”

Le Monde choose a different artist each week. The brief is to simply shoot whatever you like, the only criteria being that it’s shot within a ten day period.

I flew to Chamonix, French Alps where they are having the coldest winter for 40 years. I positioned myself high in the mountains and waited for the sun to set…. here is the result.

Now some people are born with style…. and whoever owns this ranger is certainly no exception. If you live in a wooden house and have a wood veneer pickup you’d just have to show them off together ! Mountain chic is alive and well folks……

Silverton is hidden within the San Juan mountains, Southern Colorado.

In the summertime, this little town is full of tourists who come to see the fake cowboys and saloon girls.

Now in the depth of winter as the buildings get boarded up the town becomes home to a small bunch of die-hard backcountry skiers.
