I love the idea that there has to be some room for emotion in our definition of 'rationality' - the concept we usually associate as the basis of 'good decision-making'. Rationality is such an important element in our definition of adulthood, sanity, even citizenship - and we don't leave any room for emotion in these constructs. We should, though - as you suggest, a lot of our decisions aren't (and cannot be) based on what we think of as 'rationality' at all.
