D’envergure internationale — cinq des artistes sont de Montréal, les autres de France, de Belgique ou des États-Unis —, Déliquescence est surtout marquée par son étendue dans le temps. Il y a toutes ces oeuvres dont le processus n’est jamais terminé. Puis, la commissaire fait un clin d’oeil à l’histoire, à son histoire, notamment en incluant des artistes qui avaient déjà exposé à la Fonderie Darling.

Nicole McDonald Fournier, artiste écoresponsable par excellence, est de celles-là. Et son installation Paysage emballe-toi !, placée jadis pendant des années à l’extérieur du bâtiment, est un programme de… mille ans (2012-3012). Sa démesure temporelle est une réponse à la surconsommation. L’oeuvre ancrée dans la bioremédiation vise à entraver la pollution de vêtements usagés en les intégrant à un écosystème de plantes et de micro-organismes.

I never know what will emerge, i get lost in the process and then suddenly i look up and there is something, that i never thought would emerge. The Politics and Culture of Environmentalism in the 20th and 21st Centuries

The exhibiton began yesterday March 30, 2022 and continues till September 5th 2022.

Visual Natures is product of more than two years of critical investigations around climate science, creative practices and eco-politics, Visual Natures is a continuation of the journey started in 2021 with the data-driven installation Earth Bits – Sensing the Planetary and the public programme Climate Emergency > Emergence, curated by the first maat Climate Collective.

This research project surveys political, social and cultural forms of collective agency that, over the course of the last one hundred years or so, demonstrate how the transforming human understanding of “nature” – philosophical, biological, economic – informs the ways in which we organise, sustain and govern our communities as an expanding planetary construct, both in concept and practice. The resulting mapping cross-references four subjects of analysis – artistic production and cultural events, technological innovations and scientific findings, social movements, and deliberations of global governance – loosely following a chronological order from the 1950s until today. The presentation defies the challenge of its encyclopaedic character by way of a thematic organisation along three main concatenated clusters – Deep Ecology (1950–1980), The Planetary Complex (1990–2010), Multinaturalism (2010–2020) – each converging around expanding meanings of ‘ecology’ and environmentalism that from the 1960s onwards have grown central in international public debate, as phenomena of global growth, natural resource scarcity and pollution became provenly intertwined.

"EmballeToi! dans la vie - trouver sa voix et prendre soin"

est une version "Sculpture sociale" de l'oeuvre, concept adaptable, EmballeToi!

le concept EmballeToi! évolue et se complexifie en se qualifiant en tant qu'oeuvre portant l'idée de "sculpture sociale'.

Projet de 2 ans, qui planifie continuer après 2019

en lien avec le projet 2016-2017 de Revitalisation de la forêt nourricière et les jardins communautaires de Place Benoît

EmballeToi! est un projet artistique écologique et performatif. C'est un projet modulaire, son concept s’adapte à divers contexte. Il a été conçu pour être ouvert à la participation du public —par le biais de forums d’échange et d’ateliers créatifs. Pensé pour la communauté des résidents d’un îlot résidentiel, il s’adresse à des participants d’âge, de sexe et d’origines ethniques diverses. À l’origine, EmballeToi! portait sur l'utilisation d'une diversité de plantes et sur le recyclage de rebuts textiles synthétiques (provenant de vêtements jetés); pour créer des jardins potager permanents et éduquer la population sur l'agriculture urbaine, la permaculture et la biodiversité. Dès le départ, EmballeToi ! impliquait la culture de plantes indigènes, naturalisées, comestibles et médicinales. Cet objectif fait encore partie du concept, mais pour cette nouvelle version (qui impliquera des ateliers de co-création ouverts au public) il est devenu évident que les participants devront s’en inspirer et trouver leur propre voix, pour permettre d'avoir un intérêt authentique, personnel, soutenu et véritablement engagé dans les questions environnementales.

Depuis 2014, EmballeToi! a été adapté sous diverses formes à la Place Benoît (le site de base de ce projet). Ce processus artistique s’est amorcé par la création de murs verts (des jardinières verticales pour cultiver des plantes comestibles). Pour prendre forme et se concrétiser, EmballeToi! privilégie un processus de co-création avec la communauté. Nous avons d’abord conçu des bacs-jardinière de textile recyclé et, dans d’autres versions, nous avons réalisé des murales collectives de courtepointes textiles. Chaque participant a pu ajouter sa contribution à la toile de fond de ce jardin potager de la biodiversité, conçu pour les humains et les pollinisateurs.

La nouvelle version "EmballeToi! dans la vie - trouver sa voix et prendre soin" continuera à se développer avec une nouvelle approche multidisciplinaire afin d’être plus riche et de mieux atteindre ses objectifs. De plus, celle-ci intégrera les étapes de restauration, revitalisation, finalisation et perrénisation des versions antérieures d’EmballeToi!, celles-ci ont été réalisées à la Place Benoît depuis 2014.

InTerreArt agit avec le projet "EmballeToi! dans la vie" par l'approche artistique mobilisatrice, participative et collective à la problématique de la sécurité alimentaire, qui exist pour certain résidents vulnérables, ainsi qu'à la faible utilisation et au manque de connaissances sur la forêt nourricière et les jardins communautaires de Place Benoît. Pour ce faire, l’artiste Nicole Fournier développe une approche d'intervention et de médiation innovante et fait appel à une équipe d’artistes collaborateurs et d’organismes partenaires; pour intéresser les citoyens aux jardins, pour susciter leur intérêt pour l'apprentissage de la consommation de ces produits.

Nicole Fournier est l’artiste instigatrice du projet. Tout au long de celui-ci, elle agira en tant que maitre d’œuvre; c’est-à-dire : comme coordonnatrice, facilitatrice et médiatrice du projet. Elle veillera ainsi à la gestion générale du projet et aux aspects logistiques des ateliers des artistes collaborateurs, à la coordination des causeries et forum d’échanges entre les artistes collaborateurs et les résident.es participant.es, elle assurera la dimension scientifique et horticole des cultures et, elle sera responsable de l’intégration des diverses actions des artistes collaborateurs, avec les plantes dans les jardins et, dans l’environnement de Place Benoît.

.... est le concept de dessiner étant des actions de manger-absorber par la peau des doigts (mains, pieds, corps) dans mon assiette, avec une biodiversité de nourriture fraîchement cueillis, sauvage très ancienne, (considéré des mauvaises herbes) et cultivées. Je "regarde", je suis attentive au gestes (actions) de dessiner qui sont des actions de manger pour se nourrir, le dessin, estampes, traces sont le résultat de mon repas.
