While waiting for the glass bottom boat tour to start, I walked the beach a bit and saw the two fellows above.

I think the jelly fish was ready to die
He was just at the shore and not going anywhere.

The crab on the other hand was simply playing dead while another girl and I were happily snapping some shots

Yesterday I’ve been on the Glass bottom boat tour.
There are quite a few companies it seems, that offer them.
But it’s hard to actually find the right tours and the right people that sell them.

Well, in the end I managed to get one and it was alright.
They did try to sell me the “Submarine” tour, but I only wanted to “check the waters” and not go for the way more expensive tour.
After this trip I did figure that the submarine is worth the money though.

The glass bottom of the boat is about 1-2 meters away from you (I forgot to take a picture of that), add the distance to the corals and the fish and try to take pictures.
I still managed a few and the tour itself was worth the 6 Euro I paid for it.
I saw the underwater world, I saw the scenery, got some pretty shots overall and an idea of what to do next .

The submarine doesn’t go under water, but it has a window for each person and you actually “dive” right past the fish and corals.
It’s not really that expensive either (about 30 Euro).

Next weekend I will check out the tour to Ras Mohamed national park and / or to Tiran island.
The weekend after I might try the Submarine.

Hubby’s been playing golf again yesterday.
I went with him and got me some cool Buzzard and falcon shots.

I love it .

Today I’ll head out on a glass bottom boat for a little touristy tour.
So, I’ll be on the road again and play catch up with you all tomorrow

Have you ever watched a flock of Spur winged Plovers?
They are a Party bunch and noisy too when they Party.

We saw these guys the last few weeks. You hear them, before you see them.

Then they try to fly in formation, but usually one or two just think about something else and the whole formation crumbles.
They get mad and the Party starts.

More Skywatch Friday

After seeing my pictures of a beautiful and clean Sharm el Sheikh, Lou left a comment the other day, that this place seems to be so much cleaner than Kuwait.

Nope. Not the case.
I just haven’t shown the trash yet.

Like Kuwait, trash is almost everywhere. In front of houses, piling up in streets, flying around.
And it’s polluting the desert.

One trash dump is at Naama bay, just outside, where the mountains start.
Some if it seems to get burned.

A lot of it is just blown back to the streets by the the strong winds.

Sharm going green? I don’t see it yet.

The government made a law at the beginning of this year that bans plastic trash bags.
Nobody is enforcing the law. At every supermarket they still hand out a bazillion bags.

Before the so called “Swine flu” they had goats and pigs roaming around those trash dumps to eat the trash.
They ate a lot, including plastics.
Then they killed all pigs, because the “Swine flu” scare.
The goats can’t handle all the trash and now they have a “little” problem.

Animals eating your trash? That’s your solution?

There is a group of Expats who meet once a month to clean up Sharm.
I admit, I haven’t partaken in one of their Clean ups yet.
Maybe I’m just burnt out by all these governments, no matter where we go,
that don’t really do anything to protect nature and the environment.
Maybe I’m burnt out by the stupidity of humans.
I don’t know.

There are a few things in the world that border close to insanity in my humble opinion.
One was the sky dome in Dubai.
One are ice rinks in Egypt.
Yes, it sounds cool. It is cool, but obviously people don’t use it.
Why would they?
This country has some of the most beautiful beaches. Why would people go ice skating?
Put a chair for me in the middle of the rink in the heat of summer and I’ll use it, yeah. Maybe.
And here are two ice rinks right beside each other. Small, but eating energy nonetheless. And no solar power being used.

It’s getting cooler here, the wind’s blowing strong, but it’s not very dusty and I am still recovering from a three day (or four? I lost count) Party weekend.
