PC Jeweller Ltd has launched its initial public offering worth about Rs 600 crore at a price band of Rs 125-135 a share. The IPO will open on December 10, and will close on December 12, for all bidders.

DISCOUNT TO RETAIL INVESTORS

The company is offering a discount of Rs 5 to retail individuals.

The Delhi-based jeweller has offered close to 4.5 crore shares and plans to raise anywhere between Rs 564 crore (at the lower end of the price band) and Rs 609 crore (at the upper end of the price band).

The company proposes to utilise the IPO funds for its expansion plans and towards working capital requirements.

Through this IPO, the company plans to dilute about 25 per cent of its stake. Of the 4.5 crore shares on offer, about 3.5 lakh shares have been reserved for eligible employees. Bids to be made are for a minimum of 90 equity shares and in multiples of 90 equity shares thereafter.

The issue is proposed to be listed on the BSE and the NSE.

The book running lead managers to the issue are SBI Capital Markets and Kotak Mahindra Capital Company and the co—book running lead manager is IDBI Capital Market Services.

CARE-Rating Agency-IPO

The Credit Analysis and Research Ltd has fixed the price band of its initial public offering at Rs 700-750 a share. The rating agency firm will raise Rs 503 crore at the lower end of the price band and Rs 539 crore at the upper band.

None of the proceeds of the offer will be utilised by CARE, all the proceeds will go to the selling shareholders.

CARE’s major shareholders include IDBI Bank (26 per cent), Canara Bank (23 per cent) and SBI (9 per cent).

The issue opens on December 7 and closes on December 11.

The public offer consists of 71.99 lakh shares (of face value Rs 10) through an offer-for-sale by selling shareholders. There will be no fresh issue of shares.

The offer will constitute 25.22 per cent of the post-offer paid-up equity share capital of the company. The ratings agency said that it may look at making acquisitions in the research sector. It plans to grow its product portfolio and focus on operational efficiency. About 86 per cent of CARE’s total unconsolidated income comes from its core ratings business.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India has exempted CARE Ratings from the grading process as it would result in a rival rating agency accessing its books.

Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, DSP Merrill Lynch, Edelweiss Financial Services, ICICI Securities, IDBI Capital Market Services, and SBI Capital Markets are the book running lead managers to the issue.

IndusInd Bank plans to triple the number of solar-powered ATMs in its network in the next two years, Romesh Sobti, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, has said.

Plans are afoot to increase the bank's overall ATM network strength to 1,500 ATMs in 2 years, of which at least one-fifth would be solar-powered, Sobti told Business Line on the sidelines of an event here.

Currently, IndusInd Bank has 750 ATMs, of which 100 are solar-powered.

"We are the only bank in the country to have solar powered ATMs. Every solar powered ATM is 20 per cent more expensive (than normal). Over 10 years, it is economically viable," he said.

He pointed out that corporate social responsibility has sustainability elements and saw solar powered ATMs as part of this effort.

Sobti was in the Capital for the launch of a unique platform "Treasures of Rajasthan", which is being brought to the Capital by the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust.

IndusInd Bank is sponsoring the first edition of this exposition, which will showcase heritage and boutique travel destinations along with exquisite crafts of Rajasthan.

city union bank-Rights issue.

City Union Bank Ltd (CUB) has announced a rights issue at one new share for every four equity shares held in the company at Rs 20 a share. The price includes a premium of Rs 19 a share.

The record date for the rights issue has been fixed as November 23.

According to a press release from the company, “for the first time in the industry”, the bank has reserved a portion of the issue for its employees.

3% RISE IN PROFIT

The bank has posted a 3.8 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 80.42 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2012, against Rs 77.5 crore in the comparable quarter in the previous year.

Total income was at Rs 596 crore (Rs 460.24 crore).

Gross NPA (non-performing assets) stands at 1.24 per cent and net NPA at 0.60 per cent. Current capital adequacy ratio is at 13.26. Book value a share stands at Rs 34.14.

The bank’s shares closed the week on Friday at Rs 59.70 from the previous day’s close of Rs 58.75 on the BSE.

The forthcoming Rajinikanth-starrer Kochadaiyaan (a 3D film) is to be dubbed in three foreign languages — Japanese, Italian and Spanish, besides English. It is being made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Now the film, scheduled for release in mid-January 2013, is in the post-production stage. The rupee-dollar volatility has made the production cost of the film unpredictable. “But I can say it will comfortably surpass Rs 125 crore,” he said. The company is in talks with a couple of other banks for another Rs 30-crore loan to complete post-production works. Elaborating on the movie’s export potential, Manohar said the company may strike a Rs 25-crore deal for export of its Tamil version alone. Factoring in its Spanish, Italian, Japanese and English versions, the overall business size would far exceed that of Enthiran, he said. Rajinikanth’s earlier film Enthiran (Robot) is said to have grossed a little over Rs 200 crore. “We expect Kochadaiyaan to set new standards in the Indian film industry,” says Manohar.
The rights for the movie’s music (scored by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman) were sold for close to Rs 7.5 crore to Sony Music (Enthiran’s music rights were sold for Rs 7 crore). The star cast of Kochadaiyaan, directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya R. Ashwin, includes Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Sarath Kumar, Shobana and Nassar. Rajiv Menon is the cinematographer.

Education loans: Banks told to set up grievance redress mechanism.

The Finance Ministry has asked public sector banks to put in place a three-tier grievance redressal mechanism to sort out problems being faced by students in obtaining education loans.

Banks have also been asked to make education loan applicants aware of the mechanism — at the branch, zonal office and head-office levels — at the time of submission of loan application.

Besides, the ministry wants banks to introduce a system of review by the next higher authority where application for education loan is rejected.
These directives come in the wake of the Finance Minister’s observation that students wanting to get education loans were facing a number of problems.
Problem areas:
The problems being faced by students include bank managers insisting on service area approach (SAA) in Kerala and Tamil Nadu; and refusing loan to management quota candidates and to students pursuing B.Sc (Nursing) in Kerala. Further, at times, managers reject education loan applications without any valid reasons.

A bank-wide committee headed by T. M. Bhasin, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Bank, has decided to write to the lead banks in Kerala (Canara Bank) and Tamil Nadu (Indian Overseas Bank) to ensure that bank branches do not reject any education loan application merely because a village has been allocated to another bank branch.
Merit-based selection:
The committee is of the view that a student who qualifies on the basis of merit but chooses to pursue a course under management quota for reasons of proximity or choice of discipline deserved to be reckoned as a meritorious student.

For assessment of limits in such cases, it has been decided to consider the fee fixed by the State Government or a Government-approved regulatory body for admission to payment seats under the common admission process. Keeping this in view, the eligibility criteria would be suitably modified in the Indian Banks’ Association’s model education loan scheme.
Nursing courses:
In the case of nursing courses, the committee is of the view that regular degree/diploma courses approved by the Indian Nursing Council may be considered for loans by banks.
Banks’ feedback:
Banks have given feedback to the Ministry that they have put in place systems and procedures to bring to the notice of the student community about the procedure for getting education loan. They have also provided details of the officials to be contacted for any queries/complaints in regard to the loan.
Further, most of the banks are providing online facility for submission/sanction of loans which will reduce complaints to a great extent.

Remarkable Baralikkadu Coracle ride.

Baralikadu Boating Point (Eco Tourism)
Utilizing the skill of the tribals in driving the coracles, it was proposed to arrange an Eco Tourism in Karamadai Range, availing the funds granted under XII Finance Commission scheme, for the sustained income to the tribal people and also to improve the basic amenities of these villages viz., education, sanitation, health, transportation, Communication etc..

How to reach:
From Coimbatore city Buses are available via karamadai up to Mulli village from there you have to travel by four wheelers up to the Baralikkadu village.

Timing:
From morning 10.00 AM to 4.00 PM in the evening.

Visit Baralikkadu Coracle ride.

20 trained tribal men were enrolled to drive the coracles. The coracle ride is being conducted only on Saturday and Sundays.
10 coracles are available and 4 persons per coracle. There are 2 trips in a day.
Generally this coracle ride starts by 10 Am and completed with 2 hours joy in the Bhavani river back water. Tourists are enjoying the beauty of the forests and they can interact with tribal villagers situated along the bank of the river.

After the ride, delicious lunch with traditional tribal food viz., ragi balls with fish curry, vegetable salad, chappathi-kuruma, variety rice, curd rice with mineral water and fruits are served with utmost hygiene.

The food is prepared and served by the WSHG member of Baralikkadu village with love and affection. Tourists very much appreciate the quality and taste of the food.

Trekking and Bathing:
The tourists are taken for trekking inside the jungle followed by lunch in the gentle terrain so that the women and children also enjoy the jungle ride followed by cheerful bathing in the clean Bhavani river.
Generally these operations are conducted both morning and evening on the week ends only so offer is available to only 80 persons each day.

SEBI decided to introduce “Basic Services Demat Account” (BSDA).

To reduce cost of maintaining securities in demat accounts for retail investors, SEBI has decided to introduce a “Basic Services Demat Account” (BSDA).

All depository participants have to make available a BSDA with limited services, said SEBI.

Individuals opting for BSDA are eligible for one demat account across all depositories where they are the sole or the first holder.

The maximum value of securities in a BSDA should not exceed Rs 2 lakh and at any point of time. Annual maintenance charges would not be levied for value of securities held in a BSDA up to Rs 50,000. Anything above Rs 50,000 and up to Rs 2 lakh would attract annual maintenance charges of Rs 100.

All beneficial owners for BSDA, have to register their mobile number for availing themselves the SMS alert facility for debit transactions. They will be issued at least two delivery instruction slips (DIS) at the time of account opening.

The BSDA value would be determined everyday according to the daily closing price of securities or daily closing NAV.

If the value of the holding in the BSDA exceeds the prescribed criteria as on a particular date, charges applicable to a normal DP account would apply from that date.

Quarterly transaction statement would be sent to the beneficial owner only if the demat account holder has transacted. Similarly holding statements would be sent once in a year to beneficial owners according to their option — in physical or electronic format. While electronic statements would be free of charge, additional physical statements would cost investors Rs 25 each.

Accounts with zero balance and credit balance with nil transactions shall receive only one physical holding statement.

Transaction statements shall not be provided for accounts that becomes zero balance or remains zero balance during the year.

The circular comes into effect from October 1.

The country's third largest lender by assets, ICICI Bank today said internet-based transactions have grown to constitute a third of its total and the segment may grow to become the largest channel in future.
"More than one third of our transactions take place through internet, making it the second most used medium. With the increase in internet usage,
it may also grow to occupy the number one position," the bank's chief executive and managing director Chanda Kochhar told reporters here.
She said handheld devices like mobile phones and tablets segment, which is growing at over 100% every year as compared to the 20% growth in desktops, will help drive this growth.

The bank, the country's largest private sector lender, today launched a slew of products like an electronic branch which will do all the operations of a branch across the clock, tablet-based banking which will fasten account opening, a better point of sale terminal which can conduct a host of transactions and an e-locker for storing important document.

Kocchar said the bank wants to "democratise" the use of technology through the launch of the products so that customers outside the realm of technology can also enjoy the fruits of technology.

The bank has already made 25 electronic branches operational in 18 locations in tier-I and II cities across the country and has launched its e-locker initiative servicing 1,000 customers.

It has already deployed 2,000 tablets as part of its "Tab Banking" initiative across eight centres in the country, she said.
Kochhar, however, refused to share investment details or the cost benefits accruing out of the initiative.
"Customers are seeking enhanced convenience and time has also become of essence. We have studied customer requirements and launched the products which will help customers," Kochhar said
