Comair bids farewell to Boeing 737- 200’s fleet

Comair has bid farewell to its fleet of Boeing 737-200 aircraft that was instrumental in the company launching into the mainstream airline business 15 years ago. The Boeing 737-200 fleet, which flew across the kulula.com and British Airways liveries, were gradually phased out of operation with the last planes taking their final flights in December 2010.

RwandAir to launch Brazzaville flights in March

With the increasing importance of linking the European destinations with Egypt, Egyptair has added a frequency to Dusseldorf in Germany. With this new frequency, Egyptair customers can now enjoy four weekly non-stop flights between Cairo and Dusseldorf onboard new Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Noteworthy that Egyptair’s B737-800 accommodates 24 business class seats in order to meet the demand on business travel. Further, the seat pitch in this type was increased to hit 48’ which exceeds the international norm on medium range aircrafts. Further, the aircraft is equipped system with Video-On-Demand (VOD) entertainment features and laptop power outlets.

In addition, Dusseldorf is the capital city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and centre of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region.

Modern Düsseldorf is an important international business and financial centre and also renowned for its fashion and trade fairs. Even though it only ranks the seventh among the ten most populous cities in Germany by population within city limits, Düsseldorf is one of the country's five global cities.

Düsseldorf International Airport, from which Egyptair operates, also referred to as Rhein-Ruhr Airport, is located eight kilometres (5 miles) from the city centre and can easily be reached by train or the S-Bahn urban railway. There is a long-distance train station served by regional and national services, which is linked to the airport by the SkyTrain, an automatic peoplemover. The (old) local station situated under the terminal building carries the S-Bahn line to the city's central station and to Cologne as well as a few selected night services.

Kenya Airways Outsource Cash Handling Services

National carrier Kenya Airways has signed a cash handling partnership with the National Bank of Kenya, making it easier for cargo customers to pay freight, duty and handling charges at one stop shop.

The partnership signed between the Africa Cargo Handling Ltd, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kenya Airways and the bank, will see the airline’s cargo customers pay their freight and handling charges at National Bank branches within the cargo facilities at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Following the partnership, the bank will now collect the charges at its branches at Kenya Airfreight Handling Limited building and the Nairobi Cargo Centre on a 24-hour basis. The bank will also extend credit facilities to customers.

The contract sealing the partnership was signed by the Managing Director of the National Bank of Kenya, Reuben Marambii and the national carriers Group Finance Director, Alex Mbugua today.

Airlink Revises Flight Schedule Between Johannesburg and Pemba Northern Mozambique

From Wednesday 26 January 2011, Airlink will, due to normal seasonality influences, reduce its flight schedule between Johannesburg and Pemba Northern Mozambique to a single flight per week operating only on Saturdays.

The Wednesdays flights will not operate for the period 26 Jan to 30 Mar 2011. The very few passengers who had already been ticketed for the Wednesday flights have already been accommodated on alternative flights.

Whilst Pemba has been experiencing increasing interest, from both local and international markets, the period ahead is a traditional low season not only due to general seasonal tourism downturn but also weather influences due to cyclones which may be experienced in the Mozambique channel at this time. Pemba is seen as an attractive alternative to Mauritius, Seychelles and Zanzibar for travellers looking for a more remote and undeveloped beach experience especially that which is to be found at its pristine off-shore Indian Ocean island resorts.
