Sinful Colors

First, a quick update.

There won't be any haul posts for a while, because I am officially on a "no buy" unless it's something that I actually need. That means no makeup, no hair products, no accessories, no clothing, no shoes.

The reason for this, is I have been trying for the past couple of months to diet and start working out again, since I stopped a few years ago. I've been really struggling with it, and failing pretty often, so I'm using this to motivate myself more. I've been doing pretty well for the last week, so I'm going to try to stick with it. I just started P90x, and I'm also cycling Jillian Michael's 30 day shred in, too. If anyone has any tips or advice for me, let me know. Also, if you guys want updates about this, let me know. I can make posts about my progress, starting point, what I'm doing, eating, etc.

Okay, onto the nail polish.

This is Sinful Colors - Why Not

I bought this on sale at Walgreens for $0.99, originally $1.99.

I was very surprised that this polish was pretty opaque after one coat.

I applied two coats to make it smoother.

I had no issues with streaking, and it dries pretty quickly, which I love about it.

This is a great nail polish!

I give it a 5/5.

CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

So, when I took the pictures of my haul, I forgot to include my new moisturizer! This stuff has been a life saver.

At first, I was very skeptical, as always. I hate buying products that I haven't read a million reviews on already, because I don't want to waste money on something I can't use. But, I figured since I use their face wash, and it's amazing, this should be great too.

I'm so glad I bought it. I honestly wish I had taken before and after pictures, but I hadn't expected such a change in my skin in less than 3 days. There was a noticeable difference the first time I used it.

My old moisturizer wasn't working for me anymore. It wouldn't absorb into my skin, and my skin was always just dry, flaky, and red. I used my new moisturizer, and it does everything I could ever ask it to.

It has a very faint scent, which disappears when you put it on. It absorbs almost instantly. My face feels soft all day after I use it. I don't have an issue with flaky skin anymore. It's not dry anymore. Almost all of the redness is gone now as well.

If you're looking for a new moisturizer, I'd definitely recommend this. It works so well, takes the smallest amount to cover your whole face. This bottle will probably last me until the end of the year, especially with summer coming, I'll be back to only having to moisturize once a day.

Anyway, short review, but I don't have anything negative to say!

It's Haul Time!

Got my camera fixed, and obviously, picked up a few things.

I was at Walgreens, and saw that they had Sinful Colors nail polishes for $0.99 each.

So, like I do with everything else, I went overboard, and bought 10 of them.

Then, I was looking around and they had false lashes on sale for $2.99 each, so I bought 3 of those.

And, since I've been in need of a new under eye concealer, and I've heard amazing things about the Maybelline Age Rewind Under Eye concealer, I bought it.

I've also heard amazing things about the Milani Liqui-fye eye liner, so I bought that too.

And, I went to Sally's. I only bought one China Glaze nail polish.

Then I went to the mall, to Books a Million, and I bought a Nook 8gb Tablet. So far, I love it.

MAC Viva Glam Gaga I

Since I bought the MAC Viva Glam Nicki lipstick and received it today, it occurred to me that I had not done a review on the MAC Viva Glam Gaga I, which I have had for a very long time now.

This is a pale blue-toned pink. It's a lustre finish, and is not as pigmented as the Viva Glam Nicki, but it's still very pretty. Usually two coats will completely cover your lips. Make sure you exfoliate! It won't show dry patches as much as the new one will, but it will still emphasize them a little.

This color lasts on me about 4 hours if I don't eat or drink anything. It doesn't dry out my lips, which is a plus.

The packaging on this one is just like the other. Black and red tube. Lady Gaga's autograph on the tube and the box it comes in. It retails for $14.50, was recently brought back by MAC, but I checked yesterday, and it looks like it's sold out again.

Just like the Viva Glam Nicki, 100% of the proceeds go to the MAC AIDS fund. So, check out the Viva Glam line, and if there's something you like, definitely buy it! It's for a good cause!

MAC Viva Glam Nicki

I received a code for early purchase of the new MAC Viva Glam Nicki lipstick.

This lipstick is a bright coral-y pink. It's almost neon. It's a satin finish, which is 'almost' matte. It will exaggerate any dry/chapped places on your lips, so make sure you exfoliate before you apply this!

Before I show you the pictures, or go on with the review, in case you are aware, this lipstick is part of a campaign to promote AIDS awareness, and raise money for AIDS research. 100% of the proceeds from this collection goes straight to the MAC AIDS fund. This is not the only lipstick in the collection! There are a few others, and you should definitely check them all out next time you want to purchase a lipstick.

I am not personally a fan of Nicki Minaj, but the color is so pretty and the money goes for a great cause!

This lipstick is very heavily pigmented. One coat will cover completely, two makes it a bit more vibrant. When I say it's kind of neon, believe me, that is not an understatement. It's a beautiful, unique color.

This lipstick lasted on me for about 3 hours with minimal fading. It's very smooth and creamy, it doesn't dry out my lips, and I love that it is just so bright!

On to the pictures..

The packaging is wonderful. Beautiful black and red tube, with Nicki's autograph on the inside, and well as on the box it comes in. It does show fingerprints! Also, the tube closes really well, so no worries over carrying it in your purse!

The flash on my camera took out some of the brightness, it's really more pink-y and coral-y than it looks.

This swatch is definitely showing a lot darker than it really is. I really struggled to get one that was accurate.

This is definitely the most accurate picture. In real life, it's honestly a bit more neon, but this is as close as I could get. My camera would just not pick up the brightness. I really need a new camera.

So, overall, I think you should pick up this lipstick! It's beautiful, unique, bright, pretty long lasting, smooth and just wonderful.

This will be a great spring/summer color!

So, definitely check it out!

At the very least, go look at it in person when it comes out, it truly is beautiful.

L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadows

This post is going to be a two-in-one kind of thing. I did a look with my new L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow that I want to post, so I'll post that, explain how I did it, and give a review on the eyeshadow.

I've been trying to get ahold of these forever, and finally got this one. I was after this one, but I also want to try the purple one.

This one is called Midnight Blue.

It's a shimmery navy blue with blue glitter/shimmer.

The texture of these is very unique. It looks very blue in the container, but when you use it, it's definitely more charcoal-y than blue, but the blue shimmer and blue glitter is very noticeable. The glitter in this is very fine. I have a ton of fall out, and I haven't found a way to apply it yet that doesn't result in fall out. It seems to be very messy.

I wore this look on Monday. I got up at 9 A.M., put on my makeup and left my house. I was gone until after 10 P.M. and my makeup was still in place, had not budged, and looked the same as it did when I left. These pictures were actually taken AFTER I got home, 13 hours later.

Here's what I used:

DIY Facial Cleanser and Exfoliator

I go to write this, and see that there are already a ton of posts about this today!

Mine seems to still be unique, so I'll be posting it anyhow.
First, let me tell you about my skin, so you can see if this will be relevant to you.

I have very, very dry skin. No matter how much I exfoliate, I still flake. My cheeks are always red, my face has a pink tint. I have large pores. My skin hardly ever feels tight, but it is still extremely dry and flaky. If I scrub with a normal exfoliating product, I'll be red, almost purple, for days afterward. My skin is extremely sensitive. I have major allergies to most face products, resulting in (even more) redness, itchiness, dryness, etc. If I use a product my skin doesn't like, I'll get huge acne patches. I'm convinced my skin hates me.

Using this will tone down the redness on my face, makes it feel more moisturized, and clean.

Normally I use CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, but on days when my skin is extra dry or red, I'll just make my own facial cleanser/exfoliator. This usually occurs once to twice a week, and it's cheap, quick, and so, so easy to make.

What you'll need:

Milk, any kind is fine.
Oats, again, any kind is fine.
Honey

Before we continue, let me explain to you why I chose these ingredients.

Milk is wonderful for the skin. It's very soothing and moisturizing. It's much better to use in your at home facial products because it isn't drying like water and alcohol.

Honey attracts and holds moisture in your skin, making your skin more elastic and soft. It's also an anti-oxidant and helps protect your skin from UV rays.

Oats also attract and keep moisture in your skin, as well as being a wonderful mild exfoliant, and has anti-inflammatory properties, which will soothe irritated skin, and tone down redness in your skin.

Let me start off by saying, I've never measured this out, and you don't need to. Just get it to the consistency you like, and use it!

First, get a small bowl and a whisk. Pour a little bit of milk in the bowl. If I were guessing, I'd say between 1/3 of a cup to 1/2 of a cup.

Then, pour in a little honey. To guess, probably 2-3 teaspoons.

Use your whisk to mix these together. It will take a few seconds to get the honey to start mixing, as it will just want to stick to your whisk, but keep stirring it until you can tell the honey and milk is combined, and it will start to look frothy.

Then, add oats. A little at a time, mixing after each time. The thickness is completely up to you, but don't make it so thick that it looks like the instant oatmeal your parents tried to feed you for breakfast. It needs to be a thinner consistency than that.

And, that's it!

I recommend you use this in the bathroom, over the sink. It is messy.

Take your hands and scoop up some of the oatmeal and milk and smooth it onto your face. The oats won't really want to stick to your face, and that's fine. Make sure the milk mixture is all over your face, and then use the oats to kind of exfoliate. Just rub them around on your face. Let it sit for a minute or two, and then wash it off.

After I do this, my skin feels great. Moisturized, clean, and it even removes some of the redness.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation

I know, I'm late to the party. Everyone has already tried Revlon Colorstay Foundation, but I wasn't sure that it would work for me. I was afraid it would be too thick, too heavy, cakey, etc. I didn't think it would live up to the hype, and until I completely ran out of every other foundation I had, I wasn't willing to drop $13 to find out. I know that sounds cheap, but I'm on a budget. A strict budget. An awful, terrible, strict budget. I hate budgets.

Anyway, onto the review!

I purchased Revlon Colorstay Foundation in the Normal/Dry formula, because I have extremely dry skin. I bought it in the shade Buff.

The claims it makes:

Looks and feels fresh all day
SoftFlex provides all-day comfort
Moisture-Balanced and oil free
Natural Flawless look
Transfer-resistant

Okay, now, I always moisturize my face before I put on anything, because my skin is so ridiculously dry. I use my fingers to blend. You have to work with this quickly, so I'd advise only putting it on a small area of your face at a time and blending that way.

Pros:

It does look natural and flawless, if it's blended correctly.
It evened out my skin tone, and covered nicely. I'd say it's almost a full coverage.
Doesn't feel heavy or cakey.
It truly is transfer-resistant. I rubbed my face on a towel and it did not come off. At all.
It did not oxidize.
My face did not get shiny, and it did not make my skin any drier.
It lasted for over 10 hours before I finally removed it.
The color isn't dull, it has a nice dewy sheen to it, which I love.
No glitter or unnatural shimmer.

Cons

It smells bad. Once it dries, you can't smell it anymore.
The packaging sucks. It has no pump, which is a major downside.
It dries quickly, if you don't work with it fast enough, you won't be able to get it blended.

I've been using this for a few days now. Typically I have extremely dry, sensitive, temperamental skin that hates new products. I was worried.

I didn't break out. It didn't make my skin any drier. It didn't make me get any rashes, irritation, anything like that. I honestly love it. I've never loved a foundation. I've always had major issues with each one, and just "lived" with it. But this one is different, and for that, I'm happy.

Personally, I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a good drugstore foundation.

Valentine's Day!

This is my first Valentine's Day look!

This one is pretty neutral, and could probably be duplicated with UD Naked or Naked2 Palette.

I don't have any makeup on my face, due to the condition my skin was in at the time.

On my eyes:

Urban Decay Primer Potion:Original, all over the lids to help my eyeshadow stay in place.

Urban Decay eyeshadow:Virgin, all over the lid and up to the brow bone.

Urban Decay eyeshadow: Sin, all over lid, up to the crease.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow: Smog, on outer half of eyelid and in crease.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow: Twice Baked, on outer V. I put this on the very outer edge and blended it into the crease. I repeated this step until it was dark enough for me.

Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero on top lash line, smudged out with Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Twice Baked.

Eyeshadow: Twice baked mixed with Smog on outer 3/4 of lower lash line.

Then I curled my lashes and applied two coats of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara.

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude

Revlon Lip Gloss in Pink Whisper

So, I went to Rite Aid yesterday to get contact solution. Obviously, I got off track.

They were having a sale, and I couldn't pass it up!

Eco-Tools brush sets were on sale, buy one, get one free.

I got the face set for $10, and the eye set, orig. $8, was free.

I picked up the Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch for $4, which is a dollar more than WalMart, but I've been trying to get this one for months.

I bought got2b Guardian Angel heat protectant for $3.50, originally $7.00

I bought 3 Sally Hansen HD Nail Polishes for $1.55 each, originally $6.59 each.

Colors(left to right)LCD, Laser, Wavelength.

I bought the Sally Hansen Dries Instantly top coat for $5.

I also purchased Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Buff. $13.

Covergirl Sensitive Skin Powder in Natural Ivory. $8.

For the most part, I did pretty well. I've been wanting to try to Revlon Colorstay foundation for a long time, and I'll be writing a separate review on it next week, after I've had time to test it out.

I was looking for the L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadows and Maybelline Eye Tattoo Eyeshadows, but they didn't have any of them. Not even a display! I can't find them anywhere, and they're sold out everywhere online.

I'll be posting up my first Valentine's Day look that I've created so far within the next hour, as well as posting a very exciting announcement in that post, so stay tuned for that!
