Nikki Einfeld Gives Benefit Recital for SF Opera's Merola Program

Nikki Einfeld recently gave a benefit recital for San Francisco Opera's Merola Program. Part of the organization's Signature Event Series, the recital included two pieces by H. Purcell (as realized by B. Britten) ~ If Music be the Food of Love and Sweeter than Roses, followed by An Die Nacht and Amor by R. Strauss.

The program also included C. Debussy's Pantomime and Apparition as well as Il Barcaiolo by Donizetti and Rossini's La Danza. The recital concluded with Mein Herr Marquis (the laughing song) from Die Fledermaus. Nikki was accompanied by San Franicisco Opera's Head of Music Staff, John Parr.

The opening night performance, and U.S. premiere of Rameau’s “Castor et Pollux”, conducted by Yves Abel, was a great success.

Of Nikki Einfeld's performance, Allan Kozinn of the New York Times writes, "Nikki Einfeld, as Télaïre, is the strongest singer here. She sang with a seductive passion in the first act, and with a melting beauty and purity of tone in both Castor’s funeral scene and the finale."

Nikki Einfeld returns to New York for Castor et Pollux

Having just performed in concert with Kent Nagano and the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, Nikki Einfeld will be leaving for New York soon to begin rehearsals for her upcoming performances as Télaire in Opera Francais de New York's production of Castor et Pollux - by Rameau. World renowned conductor Ives Abel conducts with direction by Philippe Clarac and Olivier Deloeuil.

From the Opera Francais website:

"...attend the wedding of Télaire and Castor, and learn how the fraternal bond between Castor and Pollux triumphed over bitter rivalry and even over death in this masterpiece of the French Baroque repertory."

Performances are May 17, 19, 2007.

After recently completing a successful production of Marriage of Figaro with the New Orleans Opera Association, where she starred as Susanna, Nikki is currently in rehearsals for Die Fledermaus with the MOA, where she will be performing the role of Adele. She is joined by an amazing cast under the direction of Ann Hodges and musical leadership of Maestro Tyrone Patterson.

Upcoming performances include the title role in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor with Syracuse Opera and a recently announced guest performance with the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Kent Nagano.

After an enjoyable but brief summer break, Nikki is currently in New Orleans in rehearsals for The Marriage of Figaro with the New Orleans Opera Association - Conducted by Maestro Robert Lyall and directed by Laura Alley.

New Orleans has a rich operatic history and Nikki's honored to be part of this production which comes just one year after Hurricane Katrina. To learn more about the history of opera in New Orleans, Click Here..

After a rewarding production of Marriage of Figaro with San Francisco Opera, Nikki is looking forward to enjoying some of San Francisco's current great weather as well as a trip up the California coast...

As previously announced, Nikki's fall season begins with The New Orleans Opera Association in a production of Le Nozze Di Figaro where she will be performing Susanna (Oct 2006). This will be followed by an exciting production of Die Fledermaus with Manitoba Opera (Nov-Dec 2006). Nikki will be performing Adele alongside some of her favorite fellow Canadian colleagues.

In September, Nikki will make a recital appearance with another former Adler and talented tenor, Thomas Glenn, as a part of The Eureka Chamber Music Series. Nikki comments, "Previous trips to perform with their musical community have always been rewarding, and I am excited to go back to share my love for the recital repertoire."

Other performances to watch for include the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with Syracuse Opera in the New Year (March 2007).
