Farmers & Traders Christmas Craft Market

On a cold crisp day in December...it was the Farmers & Traders Christmas Craft Market. The day brought lots of customers and lots of sales! It was my first time attending this market...it won't be the last! Terrific location for this market, there was lots of room to browse, food... and some live entertainment. It was great seeing everyone... old friends and meeting new folks :-) Here's a picture of my booth...there was lots to see here! ....I get lots of different reactions to my creations ...mostly big smiles, but sometimes you get strange stares, curious by-standers...or just walk-bys....haha! I love to see their faces! :-D ....you either love this stuff, or not!

Holiday Spirit Craft Show

It was a snowy wintery day in Bear River for the 3rd Annual Holiday Spirit Craft Show...lots of customers! lots of Christmas shopping done :-) met some great folks, made some sales and a couple "after sale" sales :-)

Well, I've done it to myself this time...I've made myself busier than a one-armed paper hanger! I'll be doing 3 shows this season, with the first one tomorrow...the 7th Annual Christmas Fantasy show at the Nictaux firehall. Hopefully it'll be a busy one! My next show will be the Holiday Spirit Craft Show in Bear River on Nov. 26th...then the 34th Annual Farmers & Traders Craft Market at AWEC in Annapolis Royal...that one is on Dec.3rd.

So watch your calendars and come on out to support some of these great local craft shows...there's lots of talented folks right in our own neighborhood :-)

Snow Belle...SOLD! ...pending Pick-Up!

I just love the way this one turned out...Snow Belle is my own creation, completely hand-drawn...I just love the way she turned out! She is approx. 29" tall and is made to hang on a nail...she does not sit down, so keep this in mind :-) I had made her body and then didn't have a clue how I was going to finish her...then I found the perfect little dress at a second hand shop!....I stitched a little red wool "Believe" pillow to match her scarf...added a long stocking hat, carrot shaped nose, hand stitched eyelids...and voila! Snow Belle has bells on her hat, scarf, little pillow, feet and also her mouth. She is definitely unique and will make a great addition to your winter decorating. Snow Belle is $60.

This is my take on a Veena's Mercantile pattern...I've turned her into a vintage looking Little Red Annie. She's approx. 17" tall...with skinny legs and arms. I've used red yarn for her hair...wool nose...snaps for her eyes. She's dressed in a really stained, dirty dress decorated with little red buttons. I've added a big ole rusty bell. Little Red Annie is $28.

Belindy Make-Do

Here's my take on a Belindy....she was supposed to be a doll but she kind of had an accident with her legs, so now she is a Make-Do!....lol !! I think she looks just fine :-) She stands about 18" tall. I've used rusty homespun and a stained doily for her dress. Wool nose, button eyes, yarn hair...she's a real cutie pie! Mounted on a candle stick... Belindy is $30.

Here's a wintertime blue snowman...my own creation. He's approx. 20" tall. Inspiration for this was...once again, those blue buttons! Then I found this great faded blue homespun for his hat....they go together great! This snowman has a carrot nose, button eyes, a rusty bell on the tip of his hat...and a cute little xmas tree! Wintertime Blue Snowman is $30.

This is my own creation, a prim Snow Angel. She is approx. 28" tall from her rusty star down to the bottom of her stained dress. She's got an old fashioned rusty nail nose and a rusty star for her head....stitched fingers... 3 vintage buttons down her dress...Oh my!! shes got no legs!! ...thats cause she is made to hang on the wall or from a cupboard door. A great addition to your holiday decorating. Snow Angel is $45.

Beulah Blue Annie

I really like this one....I've named her Beulah Blue. She's sewn from a Tennessee Ridge pattern. Beulah is about 23" tall and her little friend is 7". Inspiration for her was the little blue buttons I had stashed away. Then when I found this great blue flowered fabric I knew they had to go together. Her dress and pantaloons are stained and aged to prim perfection! Brown yarn hair, blue patch nose, button eyes....did I mention she smells really great too?! Beulah is $40.

Ruth is made from a PineBerry Lane pattern. She is a large doll at 29" tall. She's dressed in a great rusty colored homespun and all ready for chilly days ahead with her wool sweater. I've sewn a loop on the back so she can be easily hung up if you wish. Ruth is $48.

Its about time to get back to doll making after a long time away...well, I wasn't really away, I was bitten by a bug...the motorcycle bug!....15,000kms later, I'm still here and ready to get back to the sewing room. I've collected lots of great fabrics and other goodies on our travels this summer and can't wait to use them in my creations. Recently I attended the Holiday Spirit Craft Show in Bear River, Nova Scotia....it was a successful show! I sold several of my dolls, and best of all I won 1st Prize for Most Creative Display! I was really suprised! ....it was a really nice prize too....tickets to Brunch for 2 at the Digby Pines Resort. Yummy!!...my sweetie and me will certainly enjoy that!

Karl...Santa's Helper!

Meet Karl....he's Santa's newest helper! I had fun making Karl, he is totally hand-drawn by myself....and measures approx. 32 inches high. He is wearing a dirty red-check shirt with vintage bakelite buttons sewn down the front. Karls pants and hat are sewn from matching red patterned fabric. His hat has a huge rusty bell on the tip. He has 3-dimensional lips and nose. He has bendable elbows and knees so you can pose him in many different ways, he will sit in a small prim chair, on a bench, in a cupboard... or if you wish I've included a hanger on the back so you can put him where you like. Karl has his name-tag pinned to his shirt so that Santa knows who he is! I've included a big ole gingerbread man with Karl, hopefully he won't get the munchies before he's done helping Santa load his sleigh! You won't see him done by anyone else but NikNak-PaddyWhack!...I do not use glue on any of my dolls......you won't be dissapointed! Karl....Santas Newest Helper is $60.00.

Blue-theme Snow Angel

I've been at it again, this time is something different for me, a blue-themed Snow Angel.. I love blue ticking, blue stripes etc..., but I don't use it alot and I don't know why!? This dolls is totally hand-drawn by myself, so you won't find her anywhere else except here at NikNak-PaddyWhack. I really wanted to do something else with this doll, so I chose blue. I've dressed this Snow Angel in a stained blue stripe fabric...and given her some dirty old quilt wings! The wings have wire sewn right into them so you can position them however you wish! She has a halo of rusty wire with a star. Facial features are hand-stitched and her mouth is painted. I've sewn on a hanger on the back so you can either sit her amongst your primitives, or hang her wherever you wish! She is approx. 26" high. Remember, just like all my dolls...you won't find any glue here! Blue-themed Snow Angel is $45.00.

More Santas!

The sewing machine has been busy this past week, I've got 2 more Santas to show you, with more on the way...including a Santa's helper...and a Snow Angel with blue-themed clothing.
For now, are my 2 Santas..both of these are hand-drawn by myself, no pattern was used. The first one is a bust type shelf sitter Santa...he is approx. 10" high and 11" wide. His eyes are snaps and the beard is 100% Alpaca wool, facial features have been hand stitched and there are 2 vintage acorn style brass buttons sewn to the front. This bust type Santa is $24.00

Next is a Santa Make-Do, mounted on a nice old wooden candlestick. He stands approx. 15" high. Dressed in red ticking fabric with buttons sewn down the front. Santa is wearing a very long stained muslin hat with a small X-mas ball ornament sewn to the tip. His beard is 100% Alpaca wool, his eyes are snaps, facial features are hand-stitched. Santa Make-Do is $28.00.

Its 2 months until X-mas Eve....time to think about snow and all things winter....I've got 2 new offerings, both are completely designed and hand-drawn by myself. "Old Man Happy Eyes" is approx. 24" tall...a really sweet snowman. He's just back from the X-mas tree U-Pick! and he's got his tree tucked under his arm... He is perfect for hanging on a hook or sitting in your prim cupboard. He is painted and distressed for that old-thyme look. Real wool hat and a carrot nose! I'll be making 6 exactly the same, after that he'll be wearing a different hat and scarf. "Old Man Happy Eyes" is $30.00.

Something a little different for me...meet Alyssa! I don't usually do Raggedy Annie dolls, but this one I really love! She is approximately 22" high, a real nice size for hanging on an old prim cupboard door or to tuck into a primitive display. I have made her body using a Tennessee Ridge pattern, then I just went from there...hope you enjoy her! She can be seen on Ebay this week.
