10 Things about Internet Marketing by PotPieGirl

2010-03-16T00:21:00.000-07:00

Today I received an interesting newsletter form Jennifer Ledbetter (aka PotPieGirl). She is the one behind One Week Marketing.
These are the 10 things she said she has learned by internet marketing
1. Internet Marketing/Affiliate Marketing is mainly a process of “self-education”.
We determine our own success and failure.
2. One is never enough. When using free methods to make money online, one article is never enough.
3. Learn how to find what you need online. Those that are successful in internet marketing are also REALLY good researchers.
4. People hate “hype” – but… it still causes an emotional response to buy.
5. PPC is NOT a Beginners Sport.
6. Failure is a state of mind. Pick something then DO IT. If you never DO anything, you will NEVER make sales online. Stop standing in your own way and take a chance.
7. Shiny Things Dull Your Senses.
8. Stop being your own worst critic. You are learning something new. It is a whole new world in here AND this new world is constantly changing. The internet is no longer a big, fancy sales brochure… it is more like a living, breathing thing. Relax and allow yourself to first adjust to the climate…and then allow yourself to learn the language.
Do yourself a favor – 1) Write your expectations of yourself and of internet marketing on paper 2) Be SURE those expectations are realistic. If those expectations are NOT realistic, change them. Then – be your own best friend… be your biggest fan. Stop condemning yourself for what you DON’T know and for what you HAVEN’T achieved, and start being proud of yourself for each thing you DO learn and you DO achieve.

(This is my favorit. Thank you Jennifer)

9. There is only ONE way to stop the frustration of the learning curve. That is, to STOP LEARNING.
10. Changing your life IS scary. You are taking brave steps to change your life. You aren’t thinking about it, you aren’t complaining about it, you aren’t planning it…. you are DOING it. This is bold, and courageous, and admirable. Take a moment to thank yourself for having the guts to even TRY and do this. You deserve
that respect and appreciation from YOURSELF. Be kind to yourself. Keep moving FORWARD. And appreciate each and every learning curve you encounter.

How inspiring. Thank you so much Jennifer!

ClickBank and RAP Bank

2010-03-15T23:26:00.000-07:00

ClickBank is a popular website for some people who makes money online. I was only aware of its exixtence few weeks ago. Basically it is a place where people could buy and sell digital products online. ClickBank also well-known for its generous affiliate programm. I was amazed to know that people can generate thousand of dollars monthly or more as vendors or affiliate from ClickBank alone. I will give it it a try.

RAP Bank is a new kid on the block. Basically it is the same with ClickBank. The main difference is that RAP Bank pays the affiliate as soon as a sale is made. You do not need to wait for weeks or until your commission reach a certain amount. It's interesting.

Is UangPanas.com a scam?

2010-03-15T22:06:00.000-07:00

UangPanas.com is a kind of get-rich-quick scheme here in Indonesia. Well, the owner would not admit it as another get-rich-quick. He said he was only selling internet business tutorial/guide for newbie. I was falling prey to this programm because of two keywrods; that it was halal, and it was not a pyramide scheme (MLM). But I was really disappointed by what I got. In my opinion, the price he set for the ebook is way too expensive. Its not really worth it. He also failed to keep his promise; to provide free consultation as quick as possible to the members.

If he targeted newbies then he should understand that newbies are the same, they all need guidance badly. But it is difficult to contact him and ask for guidance or tutorial. His website provide a ticket support system, but it is not effective. In desperation I used this support ticket, it was done in workday (not weekend or holiday), yet to this date I received no answer. In my frustration I used the support ticket again to send angry messages. The only responses I got was this automated answer, telling me that the change to my ticket support was noted and the support team would address it as soon as possible. It is so annoying when your emotional outburst as a human being addressed so coldly by a robot machine!

So, is UangPanas.com a scam? You decide. I will just say that I understand why many people say so. I will not recommend it to other people.
I see that the website has changed to www.rahasiapanas.com. The owner also changed his on screen name. The comment option in his blog is now closed. Make you wonder, why is the change?

There is one important thing I learn from the whole thing. I definitely do not want to be in his shoes. I will not sell ebooks and memberships the way he does if my credibility is at stake. Insha Allah, I will not make a guarantee or promise that I cannot fulfil. In this virtual world, angry customers can voice out their unhappiness, quickly and widely. Once our credibility is ruined, it is almost impossible to have it back intact again. Let us hope he change his way, though.

Paypal

2010-03-15T21:37:00.000-07:00

I heard about PayPal about six years ago in an internet forum. Yet for so long I did not feel the need to register myself. But now its different. If I really want to earn money online, then having a PayPal account is a must. So, this is another step I took; opening a PayPal account. But my account is not verivied yet, because I do not have a credit card and do not have intention to have one in the near future. Maybe I will verify it with my local bank later.

Squidoo

2010-03-15T21:17:00.000-07:00

Squidoo used to be a great place for blogger to earn money online. I learn fom some people that it is not as great as it used to be now. But still, it is interesting and fun to join.. I haven't make a single webpage there, though. But I will give it a try.

Video Rotasi Bumi NASA (NASA's Earth Rotation Video)

2010-03-15T03:53:00.000-07:00

A couple of years ago, there's a hot controversial issue in my country. Its about heliocentric vs geocentric issue. They are good men, they seem to have deep faith, but they firmly believe that the Sun revolve around the Earth. They do not believe that The Earth is rotating its axis.

As a muslim myself, I firmly believe in everything in the Qur;an and in the saying of Prophet Muhammad.
And I used to write an article about spacecraft for children in the magazine I works for.

One thing I love about those spacecraft is that they have journeys to the space far and awa. And they can send back what they 'see' and record along the journey. One video I like in particular comes from Galileo Spacecraft.

Excerpt :
"During Galileo's first Earth flyby in late 1990, it made a majestically silent home movie of our big blue marble rotating by taking images almost every minute during a 25-hour period. The above picture is one frame from this movie.. Visible on Earth are vast blue oceans, swirling white clouds, large golden continents, and even one continent frozeninto a white sheet of water-ice. As Galileo passed, it saw a globe that not only rotated but began to recede into the distance."

Where do I start earning online?

2010-03-06T01:29:00.000-08:00

The internet marketing guru whose ebook I bought weeks ago suggested that a newbie can start earning money online with PTC program and reselling ebooks, such as his own ebook.
I tried both. Well, after trying a few PTC (Paid to Click) sites, then I decided its not my thing. Its not worth my time and effort. no, thank you. I also tried this Paid to read email, but the result is more spam emails in my inbox.

I also tried to resell his ebook, and once I posted the banner in this blog. But I could not sell even one piece. Zero. I also tried his advice to advertise my URL affiliate link in his online advertising company, but the result is almost zero. So I took off the banner from this blog; I don't want to promote something which is not proven working for myself. Its kind of cheating, I think.

The good thing from his ebook is that I am now familiar with the words "internet affiliate marketing" also I know some big names in the business such as Yaro Starak, Ewen Chia, Rosalind Gardner, and for the local players; Cosa Aranda and Habibie Afsyah.

After searching on the internet, I think I can learn from www.blogduit.com better. He is not yet a master in this business, but I like his approach in explaining things to newbie like me. I am now going to try 2 of his advice, focusing my learning and effort in these 2 things for the beginning. One, Google Adsense. Two, become an Amazon Associate.

Lets Try and hope for a good result

Blogging again

2010-02-17T23:10:00.000-08:00

This blog was made in 2006, but for so long it was abandoned because I was more into Multiply blog. This time is the time I re-start blogging here again. There are many things to learn here. Lets go

Getting Started

2010-02-16T18:37:00.000-08:00

With say bismillah, I started to learn to make money through the internet.
Totally a newbie , my first step is to find a newbie guide. I want to learn how to earn online from succesful, trusted and sincere netpreneurs. The get-rich-quick scheme was not what I was looking for, yet I falls prey to one. Thats a hard lesson to learn.

I really need to supplement my income in an legitimate way. After painful searching, I did buy an ebook from a site. I was impressed by his choice of words in the ad. The keywords are halal (legitimate according to Islamic teaching), and not MLM. I also advertised my affiliate URL in his advertising company. The result is Big Zero. So I had to remove all the links and move on. There must be better guide outthere waiting to be found.

I lost my money (about 300k IDR). But I think that owner is a bigger loser because he lost his credibility.
