cursor:hand;width: 400px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3210/2925369758_1ba17bb600.jpg?v=0" border="0" alt="" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.bu.edu/computing/"&gt;Boston University’s College &lt;/a&gt;of Engineering is a partner launching a major program, under a National Science Foundation grant, to develop the next generation of wireless communications technology based on visible light instead of radio waves.&lt;br /&gt;Researchers expect to piggyback data communications capabilities on low-power light emitting diodes, or LEDs, to create “Smart Lighting” that would be faster and more secure than current network technology.&lt;br /&gt;“Imagine if your computer, iPhone, TV, radio and thermostat could all communicate with you when you walked in a room just by flipping the wall light switch and without the usual cluster of wires,” said BU Engineering Professor Thomas Little. “This could be done with an LED-based communications network that also provides light – all over existing power lines with low power consumption, high reliability and no electromagnetic interference. source of affluent Europeans, followed by the internet and then radio, according to &lt;a href="http://ems.synovate.nl/news/20080916001/news.aspx"&gt;Synovate’s EMS Digital Life survey&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;During the week and at weekends, most of the elite watch television during the evenings, between 8pm-10pm, with the peak being at 9pm, according to the survey. Thursday is reportedly the most popular television evening with 43% of the respondents tuning in. The least popular evening is Monday, followed by Wednesday and then Tuesday.&lt;br /&gt;The internet was the second most popular media source. In the weekdays, most respondents used the internet in the mornings between 9am-11am, in the afternoons at 2pm and again in the evenings at 9pm. Greater knowledge of the digital space&lt;br /&gt;More than one-third of marketers surveyed said they are not confident that their current agency is well-positioned to take their brand through the unchartered waters of online digital marketing and interactive advertising.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Nearly half (45 percent) of the respondents have switched agencies (or plan to switch in the next 12 months) for one with greater digital knowledge or have hired an additional digital specialist to handle their interactive campaigns.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Regarding an agency's area of expertise, 79 percent of respondents rated "interactive/digital" functions as "important/very important."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. More use of "pull interactions"&lt;br /&gt;Nine in 10 respondents (90 percent) agree that to engage consumers with their brand it is increasingly important that their agency uses "pull interactions" such as social media and online communities rather than traditional "push" campaigns.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Leverage virtual communities&lt;br /&gt;An overwhelming 94 percent of respondents expressed interest in leveraging virtual communities (public and private) to understand more about their target audience.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Agency executives who use the technology they are recommending&lt;br /&gt;92 percent of respondents said it was "somewhat" or "very" important that agency employees use the technologies that they are recommending - such as Facebook, Flickr, wikis, blogs, - in their personal social media mix.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Chief Digital Officers make agencies more appealing&lt;br /&gt;43 percent of marketers surveyed said agencies with chief digital officers are more appealing than those without.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6. Web 2.0 and social media savvy&lt;br /&gt;63 percent of marketers surveyed said an agency's Web 2.0 and social media capabilities are "important/very important" when it comes to agency selection.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7. Agencies that understand consumer behavior&lt;br /&gt;76 percent of respondents deemed this as an "important/very important" aspect of their agency's online digital marketing and interactive advertising area of expertise.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8. Demonstrate strategic thinking&lt;br /&gt;77 percent of marketers surveyed ranked strategy/brain trust capabilities at the top of their agency wish list.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;9. Branding and creative capabilities&lt;br /&gt;67 percent of respondents ranked branding at the top of their agency wish list while 76 percent ranked creative capabilities as "important/very important."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;10.
