Eiji Aonuma has sent out the above Swapnote message to 3DS owners (specifically to people who own Ocarina of Time 3D, it seems), saying that:

I hope you’re looking forward to New Legend of Zelda games.

We already knew something was in the works for the 3DS, but it’s nice to see the teasing has already begun.

There is a new game from Dr. Kawashima coming to the 3DS

Satoru Iwata has confirmed that Dr. Kawashima (of Brain Age fame) is working on a new title for the 3DS that will focus on improving your working memory and concentration. There is no official name for the game at the moment, but you can check out a short video after the break.

Mario Tennis Open is confirmed for May 24th

Satoru Iwata has confirmed that Mario Tennis Open (as the game was rumoured to be named) will be released on the 24th of May in Japan. The game will support multiple control methods, including the use of the buttons, the touchscreen for shots such as lobs, and also use of the gyro controls. There is local and online play, with support for download play so four players can play off one game cartridge. You can also play as a Mii.

The game will arrive in Europe on May 25th. There is new footage after the break.

DLC confirmed for Fire Emblem: Awakening (and the game is coming to Europe in 2012)

It has been completely confirmed that there will be paid downloadable content for Fire Emblem: Awakening when it arrives on the 3DS on April 19th. There will be new maps and episodes on offer as a set, although Satoru Iwata has assured everyone that the game will still have its own full story. The first set of DLC will be free until May 31st and, in Japan, there will also be a Fire Emblem-themed pre-paid card, shown above. The game has been confirmed to be coming to Europe in 2012, and you can find a trailer after the break.

Lots of footage from Kid Icarus: Uprising (and a few details too)

Masahiro Sakurai has talked in-depth about Kid Icarus: Uprising in the recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, sharing that it’s possible to combine items within the game and also trade “seeds”, which allows you to make combinations with other players via StreetPass. In a similar vein, there is a weapon known as “Genesis” that you build by collecting its three parts. This is a single-use weapon, but fires a powerful blast.

As we’ve heard in the past, the game supports online play, and Sakurai mentioned that playing the game online “was very smooth”, even when playing with players outside of Japan. Support for SpotPass is also confirmed and will provide a new weapon to download every day. There’s lots of footage after the break.

There is a mystery project for the 3DS from SEGA, Capcom and Namco Bandai

We won’t have any details yet, but the recent Nintendo Direct broadcast in Japan has confirmed that SEGA, Capcom and Namco Bandai are collaborating on a mystery project for the 3DS. That’s all we have to go on for the time being, but feel free to make lots of wild guesses as to what it might be.

Game Gear titles to arrive on the Virtual Console in Japan on March 14th

Famitsu has revealed that Game Gear titles will arrive on the 14th of March in Japan via the Virtual Console on the 3DS. To begin with, the following games will be available:

The GG Shinobi
Sonic & Tales 2
Dragon Crystal Shirani’s Maze

Each title will cost ¥300.
