A traveling preacher finds himself in a tremendous rainstorm.

Within a few hours the hotel he is staying in becomes flooded. As the water rises, the preacher climbs to the roof and starts praying.

"Lord, save me so I can continue on my mission of preaching your gospel."

Just then, a coast guard rescue party floats by in a rowboat. "Let's go mister. Into the boat."

"I'll stay here," says the preacher, "The Lord will save me."

An hour later a second boat reaches the scene and the water is close to the roof of the hotel. "Sir, you better get in. the water is still rising."

"No thanks. The Lord will be my salvation."

Toward evening, the hotel is almost completely under water and the preacher is clinging to the satellite dish on the roof. A helicopter is spotted and on a loudspeaker is heard "Hello Sir, grab on to the line and we will pull you up. This is your last chance.

"I'm all right," says the preacher, as he looks heavenward. "I know the Lord will provide sanctuary."

As the boat departs, the satellite dish is hit by lightning and the preacher is killed. When he arrived at the Pearly Gates he was furious.

"What happened, " he shouts. "I thought the Lord would provide!"

Moments later a thunderous voice is heard. "Gimmie a break pal. I sent you 2 boats and a chopper"
Moral of the Story: "Never think God will come with some miracle... NAA JAANE KIS VESH ME'n NAARAAYAN MIL JAAYE "

A Need for Spirituality
The Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan in London, played host to a gathering of devotees and guests where the question of ‘What is the significance of Spirituality in modern day life’ was explored. The clear conclusion was that in modern day life and especially in today’s society, it was a real necessity.

A combination of thoughts, poems and hymns were shared by presenters from across the globe in sharing their experiences and views. Sister Harjinder Mann from Ilford defined Spirituality as an individual’s personal relationship with God - a relationship which should be understood, nurtured and enjoyed throughout life.

A teenage devotee, Jordan Bowen from the West Midlands said that spirituality had helped him overcome difficulties he faced as a teenager by adopting the message “worry ends, where faith begins” thus seeing the bigger picture and trusting in God’s master plans.
Another devotee, Wendy Horan from Stoke-on-Trent , through a wonderfully constructed poem, enthused how the Mission had helped to change her thoughts which resulted in modifying her actions. She expressed:
“For what is life without spirituality?
In a world of chaos and haste
The meaning of existence a terrible waste”
Dr Regina Clarke, a devotee from the USA shared how The Sant Nirankari Mission added to her Christian beliefs by enhancing her understanding of spirituality in the modern world. She stressed that “God is love and we are an image of God. Therefore, we should radiate this love. This is the foundation we should live with… must live by example and that our words are not enough”. Spirituality had helped her to feel a sense of gratitude for everything in life.
Rev. Harmohinder Singh Upashak Ji, said that natural calamities were taking the lives of thousands of innocent people but that manmade calamities were resulting in the loss of millions of people worldwide. Whilst we are limited in what we can do to help those suffering in natural calamities, we can minimise manmade calamities by imbibing virtues of love, acceptance, tolerance and forgiveness.
The Samagam featured an exhibition depicting the Mission’s practical approach to one another through blood donation camps worldwide, cleaning initiatives and food donations amongst others.
In the concluding discourse, Rev Ramnik Ahuja Ji from London elaborated from the verses of the Avtar Bani, that the human mind, body and material possessions are gifts from God. They should be used but not abused. He explained that we do not need to renounce our existing lifestyle, our families, our work or any other responsibilities that we have in order to retain spirituality in the modern world, moreover we should abide with and contribute to our societies as a priority too,
If we progressed through lives as spiritual being having a human experience as opposed to human beings having the odd and occasional spiritual experience, a united, peaceful and all embracing society would become a realistic holistic worldwide possibility.

Rev Vivek Shauq Ji Passes Away(12-1-2010)

All are informed with heavy heart that Rev Vivek Shauq, a renowned poet and devout follower of the Sant Nirankari Mission as also a film celebrity passed into his eternal abode on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Jupiter Hospital in Thane (Mumbai). He had been admitted to the hospital on 3rd January after he complained of acute heart problem. He was 47. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son.
On its last journey, the body was kept for Antim Darshan at the Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Mahul Road, Chembur on January 11 at 11:00 a.m. Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji, gracious spouse of Nirankari Baba
Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj along with the bereaved family were present, while thousands of devotees poured in to pay their tributes to their fellow saint.
Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj who arrived from Delhi, gave shoulder and accompanied the body up to the crematorium. The body was placed on a flower bedecked carriage. Many friends and colleagues of Rev Vivek Shauq from film industry also attended the funeral.
Born in Chandigarh on June 21, 1963 in a Nirankari family of the proud parents Rev Dharam Singh Shauq and Smt. Padma Ji, Vivek was brought up in a saintly environment. With the teachings of Nirankari Mission well imbibed, he impressed his colleagues in the school, college and them at work, particularly with his humility and jovial nature. Vivek had good command over Hindi, English, Punjabi and Urdu. He was a poet class apart and a writer as well. His special ability was to conduct Kavi Darbar wherein he used to immensely mix humour in between and still put across Baba Ji’s message flawlessly.
Vivek was a qualified engineer (B.E. Mechanical), but he had a keen aptitude for theatre. In late 80’s and early 90’s he shifted from theatre to television with a supporting role in Jaspal Bhatti’s Ulta Pulta and Flop Show. Inspired by the success, he shifted his focus to films. Making his foray into Hindi films with ‘Barsat Ki Raat’ in 1998, he did more than 50 films and went on to climb the ladder of success winning many awards for his contribution to the industry.
Along with pursuing his career, Vivek worked intensively for spreading the message of the Sant Nirankari Mission and using the same in practical life. He played an important role in motivating the youth of the Mission and was a source of inspiration to them. As a poet also he made a considerable contribution to the Mission’s literature.
His Holiness will be addressing a special congregation at the MIDC Ground, Airoli, Navi Mumbai on January 13, 2011 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., to pay tributes and take inspiration from the life of Vivek Shauq.

Vivek Shauq dies of cardiac arrest

Versatile actor Vivek Shauq is no more. The 47-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday morning. Shauq has worked in over 50 films and is survived by his wife and three children.

Fondly remembered as Jaspal Bhatti's other half in shows like Ulta Pulta and Flop Show, Shauq appeared in
several films and received critical praise for playing Sunny Deol's friend in Gadar-Ek Prem Katha (2002).

Actor Rana Jung Bahadur, who was also Shauq's neighbour, said, "As per the information I have got, he died of a heart attack. He had gone to Thane for some minor thing, as he knew someone there. The news is shocking."

This "minor thing" was in fact a liposuction surgery, which triggered a cardiac arrest and caused Shauq's death. Dr. Vijay Surase, a cardiologist at Jupiter Hospital, said, "His medical history shows that in 2003 he underwent a major angioplasty operation and three stents were put in his heart. He was prescribed blood-thinning medicines called Aspirin and Clopidogrel. But he discontinued them prior to his liposuction operation."

Shauq was brought to Jupiter hospital on January 3 after he suffered three cardiac arrests. "His heart had already stopped functioning. Three emergency three shocks had also been given to him. He was on life support system but he went into coma," said Dr. Dayanand Kumbla, another cardiologist there.

As per liposuction surgery rules, prior to the surgery, a complete health history check-up is done. Knowledge of one's allergies, medications and previous surgeries must be brought to the surgeon's notice at this stage.

Shauq underwent a liposuction at the Karkhanis Nursing Home in Thane. When contacted, Dr. Sameer Karkhanis, the plastic surgeon who performed the surgery, said, "Vivek did not reveal anything about his angioplasty and blood thinning medicines prior to the surgery. The ECG and 2D Eco reports showed normal.

But two hours after the surgery his condition became critical." On Monday he succumbed to death due to septicemia.

While Bobby Deol said, "I have lost a friend. He was a gem of a person," Akshay Kumar, who was one of Shauq's closest friends, tweeted, "This is a message, actually it's more of a request, for all those who have had the pleasure of knowing and watching Vivek Shauq.

I will say this now and always please take care of yourself and of your family's health; we are nothing without it. I will miss u my friend."Shauq's last rituals will be performed this afternoon in Mumbai.

Rev Gurbax Singh ‘Rajkavi’ Ji Passes Away

Rev.Gurbax Singh Rajkavi Ji, Member Central Planning and Advisory Board passed into his eternal abode at 00:30 hrs on Monday, December 27, 2010 at his residence in Amritsar (Punjab). He was 82.

Rev Rajkavi Ji was admitted to Escorts Hospital in Amritsar on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Doctors found a blood clot which had paralyzed the body. He was, however, discharged from the hospital on December 25. His Holiness met him in hospital on December 19 where Rev Rajkavi Ji sought his divine blessings. He again spoke to Baba Ji over telephone on Sunday, December 26.

Thousands of devotees of the Mission continued to visit Rev. Rajkavi Ji’s residence to have his last Darshan. The cremation took place on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at cremation grounds near Sitala Mandir in old Amritsar. Thousands of people including devotees of the Mission, friends and well-wishers gathered at Nirankari Avenue and at 4 p.m. a procession commenced through the streets of Amritsar. The Nirankari band led the way and congregants walked behind, the Sewa Dal volunteers guiding people and dealing with traffic control. A van bedecked with banners and flowers took the body of Rev Rajkavi ji across the city to the chants of Tuhi Nirankar, songs of praise and speeches. The cremation took place at 5:00 p.m. A large number of devotees from all other places in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Chandigarh and Delhi also participated.

The final rites and Prayer was conducted by respected H.S. Upashak ji who had traveled all the way from the United Kingdom to attend the funeral. The sounds of Simran of this Formless Nirankar echoed the entire environment. Rev. Rajkavi Ji’s sons Shri Sukhdev Singh Ji and Surinder Pal Singh Ji, his daughters-in-law holy sister Niranjan Kaur Ji and Smt. Parneeta Ji as well as his daughter Smt. Rani Ji and son-in-law Shri Gurdev Ji all thanked those who attended the cremation.

A special congregation to pay tributes to Rev Rajkavi Ji and take inspiration from his long devoted and dedicated life, was held in the Khankot Nirankari Satsang Bhawan in Amritsar on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 10 am to 2 pm in the benign presence of His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj.

Born in the family of Rev Karam Singh Ji and Rev Dyoti Devi Ji in Village Bilaul in Tehsil Fatehjang, District Kaimalpur (now in Pakistan) on August 15, 1928, Rev Rajkavi Ji was associated with the Sant Nirankari Mission right from childhood. He received lots of blessings from the founder of the Mission Baba Buta Singh Ji as also from Baba Avtar Singh Ji. He had passed his Matriculation when his family migrated from Pakistan to India in 1947 and settled in Amritsar as ordained by Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji. He was married to Rev Chandrauli Ji, daughter of Shri Teja Singh Ji. Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji, however, named her as Amrit Kaur.

Initially, Rev Rajkavi Ji started selling cloth to support the family. Later in 1951, he came to Jalandhar and joined Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji to learn the trade of motor parts. No doubt, he started this trade in Amritsar, but he was least interested in business. He was wearing white Dupatta, the spiritual symbol of the Mission, all the time. He loved to spend his time in preaching the message of the Mission. In particular, he was known for writing and presenting devotional songs and poems. He helped and guided other young poets also in writing poetry. Pleased with his poetry, Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji gave him the title of ‘Rajkavi’ in 1948. Even today the devotional songs written by him are quite popular with the singers as well as the listeners.

It was with the untiring efforts of Rev. Rajkavi Ji that the first Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan was set up in Amritsar on January 1, 1961. In 1967, Rev. Rajkavi Ji was permitted to award Brahm Gyan on behalf of Satguru.

Rev Rajkavi Ji was one of the founder members of the Working Committee constituted in 1979. He was nominated as a Member of the Executive Committee also the same year. He continued to hold this responsibility till he became a Member of the Central Planning and Advisory Board in 2009. The same Year Rev Rajkavi Ji’s wife, Rev Amrit Kaur Ji merged into her eternal abode, but Rev Rajkavi Ji continued with the preaching Sewa as usual.

Rev Rajkavi Ji was a powerful speaker and well known for his forceful presentation of the Mission’s ideology. He toured almost every nook and corner of the country to spread the message of the Mission. With the blessings of Satguru, Rev Rajkavi Ji visited abroad in 1969, 1986, 1994 and 2009 also. The countries he toured include Afghanistan, UK, USA, Canada, Austria, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand.
