It is finally 2009 and time for change is here upon us. I must apologize for my absence from the world of blogging. All of my craziness all started somewhere around the last week of November 2008 and finally ended just a few days after NYE.

Here is just a quick bullet summary:
1) I was in a motorcycle accident while driving on the freeway
2) Took a vacation from the rat race and decided to leave the country and visit China, Cambodia, and Thailand
3) Participated in the madness shopping frenzy for the Christmas holidays
4) Started working on our New Years Eve party event at one of Hollywood’s infamous nightclubs (event sold out prior to new years)
5) Picked up a new toy for 2009, a Nikon D90

I am going to get back in the swing of things now, since all the madness pretty much had died down. I have so many things I would like to share and yet so many things I would love to do for 2009. You can probably say time is really a major fighting factor in life. Well, with that being said, 2009 is going to be a great year.

Happy 2009, everyone!
This year, my organization was fortunate to get involved in hosting a big Halloween party in Southern California at the infamous LAX nightclub in Hollywood. The party was a big success, we had a huge line before we even opened out doors, we hit full capacity early that evening, and the vibe was just off the hook. It seems that everywhere you go all the bars, nightclubs, lounges, and restaurant where at full capacity. The streets where just filled with local and tourist people walking up and down the boulevards.

Here is a scary fact: The National Retail Federation reports, “the average consumer plans to spend $66.54 for Halloween, with spending nationwide reaching $5.7 billion for 2008”. Despite the current economic situation, we are currently going through; people just still want to have fun. Just by seeing these numbers, Halloween is a growing yearly event, which just keeps on booming surpassing majority of the major holidays, but comes second after Christmas. So, what does this mean for nightclubs and promoters in general? Straight to the point, more “PROFIT”.

Top Reasons Why Halloween is Great for the Nightclub and Promotion Industry:

Big Money for Event Sponosorship Night

Theme Night Event Participation

Expect Full Capacity

Maximize Profit from Door Revenue

Majority of People will Dress Up and Party

A Night to Have Fun

Have you ever experienced a moment in your time, when you walked into a club and noticed that the dance floor was nearly empty, but there seems to be a large amount of people just hanging around? Basically, you can feel that the vibe in the air is pretty much dead and makes you feel that you have entered a black hole and all the fun was just sucked away. Some of your friends may blame it on the venue and say that ambience was not right or maybe that it was just crowd.

When it comes to music, it is one of the key elements, which may the place into a fun social environment. However, trying to find the right dj may be a different story, since there are so many out in the market. One thing is for sure; a real good dj knows how to play for the crowd and not for himself. He is able to draw people into the dance floor rather than draw them out. Nevertheless, after being in the business for so many amounts of years, I learned to pick out the good djs from the bad ones.

Do and ask the Following:

Demo Disk – All good djs can provide you with their latest demos. Get a copy of their mixes and really listen to it and determine if his/her music selection will be a fit for your club.

Resume – Find out more information about his previous experience, where he/she currently spinning at and which promotional group has he/she spun for in the past. How long has he/she been spinning and what type of music does he/she specialize in.

Crowd Following – Find out if he or she has a following. Having a dj that has a following can be an added bonus to your event by drawing additional more people to your club.

Trial Run – Ask the dj if he can spin for a trial run, not during the prime time spot but rather 1 hour before. From here, you can determine how he can move the crowd and see if he is worth hiring.

Few days ago, I picked my motorcycle from Todd’s Cycle and was able to ride this past weekend to Cook’s Corner. To be honest I was debating to either leave the bike at the shop or wait until it was completely done. Did I forget to mention that the bike is not completely done as of yet?

Last week, I was told that my motorcycle would be ready for pick up and I was pretty much set to go. Then on Thursday morning, I received a phone call from Todd’s Cycle and they informed me that the custom handle bar, which I requested, would need to be sent back to get re-polished and chromed all over again. So, they gave me two options, which were either leave the my motorcycle and wait for my handle bars to come in for the final installation phase or pickup the partially completed motorcycle and come back the following week and have my handle bar installed.

During that time, it has been almost about 4 weeks since I actually rode my motorcycle anywhere. I was pretty much like a guy on crack, trying to find some form of guilty pleasure for the time lost. Just by reading this, you can pretty much say, that I decided to pick up my motorcycle on Friday and elected to have my handle bar installed once they come back from the shop.

It was a great weekend to go riding on that Sunday morning. The weather temperature was in the high 70’s, perfect riding condition because it was not to cold or hot that day. The roads where pretty much empty and it felt really nice to have the nice cool wind blowing in your face while riding. As you can tell, I was trying to take full advantage of the warm weather as much as possible, since winter season is pretty much knocking on my footsteps weeks away.

I really need give credit to Brandon from Todd’s Cycle for doing an excellent job on my ride. From my previous post on “The Long Awaited Parts from Performance Machine“, he pretty much bolted everything together on that list, from adding the custom fender kit from Performance Machine to creating a custom license plate. I would like to also thank Rich from Bitchin Seats, for creating one hell of an excellent solo seat for my ride. The design and leather quality is like no other in the market, major full kudos.

Anyway, here are some new updated images of my partially completed Harley Davidson Night Train.

It has been about almost 4 weeks now and I’ve been itchin to go riding for the longest time. My motorcycle is still at the shop getting its final changes worked on and while that is happening, here I am at work doing my day to day task or I am relaxing at home on the weekends trying to be productive.

I really miss riding and I want my motorcycle back as of now. I miss the fact that I had to wake up every weekend early in morning to take a nice morning cruise in the warm sun. The best part is just meeting up with a group friends and just basically ride on the highway like no other with a nice breeze in your face.

This coming weekend the weather man predicted a nice upper 70’s and low 80’s weather condition. You can call this “Perfect Riding Weather”. I am anticipating that my motorcycle will be ready by this coming weekend so hopefully I will be able to take full advantage of this great weather. Nevertheless, mother nature please be kind and extend the riding the condition as long as possible.

Here is something really great, which I found on youtube a few days ago. The person who created the Harley Davidson commercial must be some type of marketing genius or he must have been on drugs. As I watched the video and listened to the message, I was enthralled how they incorporated the biker’s image and scene selections, which portrays the average Harley Davidson riders lifestyle. Watching this video actually got me so pumped up that i wanted to get on my bike and just ride away.

On Sunday, October 26, 2008, more than 25,000 motorcycle riders will depart from Glendale, California making their way to the Pomona Fairplex ground for the Silver Anniversary LOVE RIDE event. Out of the 25,000 bikers, I among the many riders will participate in this once a year fundraising riding event across the Los Angeles County highway roaring on my motorcycle.

Love Ride 25 is the major piece of the second annual California Bike Week, the state’s largest and well anticipated motorcycle event (Oct. 24-26). The purpose of the Love Ride is to help raise needed funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which was started back in 1984. Since the growth of the event and the mass participation from the different riders, world wide, donated funds are able to be diverse to other non-profit organizations in Southern California.

This will be the biggest riding event for me this year, which I can hardly wait to participate. I am looking forward to witness the various riders from all across the nation and even world. I am also anticipating to seeing all of the different motorcycles customization made by these riders, especially any Night Train enthusiasts. In addition, it would not even hurt to get some free giveaways from some of these top vendors at the event; hopefully I can get some nice hats and shirts. A rider can never go wrong with some extra goodies. At the same token, which I believe is the best part of the event the live entertainment performance by the Foo Fighters and ZZ Top. How in the world can I not participate in this event, I must be bad if I can let this pass me by.

Well, the clock is ticking and the seconds are gradually moving. My ride is still in the shop getting its final customization adjustments and hopefully I can ride with the big boys at this event with it. If not, then I would rather rent a motorcycle from one of the local Harley Davidson dealership than cage it.

Last night I was on the internet doing some research for my next trip to Asia. While I was reading a few articles and different post from different sites, I noticed that a large portion of websites have their own unique icons which are called favicon or bookmark icon.

You probably haven’t heard about it, but I am pretty sure some of you have seen them. This new features allows you to create a small (16X16) small icon and place it on to your website so that when people want to bookmark your site they will be able to see your personal small icon. This feature can be used on any MSIE 5.O and up, Netscape 7 or most up to date browsers.

Here are some simple steps on creating an icon or bookmark for your site:

Upload an image which you would like to create to www.dynamicdrive.com

Maximum file size should be no more than 150kB

Image should be created in a 16 pixels by 16 pixels

Format should be in Win32 with an extension “.ico”

File name must be “favicon.ico”

Upload your file to your website in the same directory where your index.html is located

Insert between the HEAD section <LINK REL=”SHORTCUT ICON” HREF=”favicon.ico”>

Well, that is it. Your favicon should appear on your browser under the URL address section now.

I just met Brandon over at Todd’s Cycle in Hungtington Beach, California regarding my new parts and accessories for my 2008 Harley Davdison Night Train. He called me a few days ago and wanted me to come on in to check out their progress and see what they have been working on. It has only been like a few days since I dropped off my bike and I was surprised to see how my motorcycle was turning out after that short time period. The Phatail kit, front and rear break discs, front and rear rims, and pulley from Performance Machine along with RSD’s struts and fender made a huge difference on the look of my motorcycle.

After so many months, I can finally see some major progress on my Night Train project. From my previous post “The Long Awaited Parts from Performance Machine“, I’ve indicated that I was waiting on some key parts from the manufacturer and was getting upset due to the time factor.

After actually seeing the changes on the motorcycle with these new parts from Performance Machine, I would have to say the wait was well worth it. Also, while having my motorcycle on the lift I had Brandon installed some new matching foot pegs, brand new foward control, and a new shift lever made from Battistinis. With these new extra parts added on to my ride, I believe it helped create a unique distinct bad boy image that I wanted. The funny thing about this, is that, I am still far away from completion and the money portion of this project is dampering my wallet. Talk about major “ouch”.

Nevertheless, ride safe and I will keep everyone posted regarding my Night Train project.
