Sam's Town! Why?... What do you get if you cross the age-old game of scrabble with professional football's championship game? You get a prop bet that's so complicated they're still trying to figure out the winners and losers.

In the simplest of terms the bet is based on the total number of scrabble points in the last name of the player scoring the 1st touchdown OV/UN. The total number of scrabble points is 15 OV/UN. Ties are No Action.

Points equivalent for letters follows:

CATAWBA TRIBE SUES FOR GAMING RIGHTS ON RESERVATION LAND

<fb:share-button href="http://www.no-gambling.com/story/catawba-tribe-sues-gaming-rights-reservation-land" type ="button_count" ></fb:share-button>
<fb:like href="http://www.no-gambling.com/story/catawba-tribe-sues-gaming-rights-reservation-land" send="false" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="350" action="like" font="verdana" colorscheme="light"></fb:like>

From Chief William Harris and CIN Executive Committee

"Study Shows Gaming Facility Would Create 3,966 New Jobs in York County"

The Catawba Indian Nation has filed a lawsuit against South Carolina seeking to enforce compliance with the Settlement Agreement the Tribe signed with the State of South Carolina in 1993.

William Harris, newly elected Chief of the Catawba Nation, says the purpose of the lawsuit is to assert the legal rights of the Catawba Tribe and, at the same time, to bring significant economic benefit to the Tribe and the York county area, including nearly 4,000 permanent new jobs. "The economic development we seek for the Tribe would also be a major boost to the local economy," Chief Harris said.

Confident that the Catawba Nation is entitled to open a gaming facility on reservation land, the Tribe recently commissioned an economic impact study by the Columbia, S.C.-based firm of Miley & Associates. That study reported the proposed gaming facility would generate over $517 million in total initial economic impacts and 3,966 permanent jobs, including a projected hotel and entertainment complex. If the Catawba Tribe is successful in asserting its gaming rights, Chief Harris stressed that all gaming would be restricted to reservation property where the Catawba Tribe was promised gaming rights by federal and state law nearly 20 years ago.

The lawsuit asserts that the State of South Carolina is obligated to honor the promises contained in the Settlement Agreement and the failure to do so has deprived the Tribe of its legitimate claims. The Settlement came only after many years of struggle. According to the Settlement Agreement, signed during the administration of Governor Carroll Campbell, the Tribe was promised the ability to offer "…electronic play devices to the same extent that the devices are authorized by state law.” More recently, South Carolina passed the Gambling Cruise Act, which authorizes by state law the operation of numerous electronic gaming devices. Under the terms of the Settlement, the Tribe believes that it should be able to offer those same games.

"The Tribe’s ability to engage in gaming activities is vital to its economic self-sufficiency," Chief Harris said. "All we want is for the government to keep its promises and allow us to conduct gaming on our Reservation land.” As is the case with many Native American tribes who were removed from their land and suffered decades of subjugation, the Catawba Indian Nation struggles with poverty and related issues. The type of facility the Catawba Tribe hopes to operate would create permanent positive impacts on the York/Lancaster area, the Catawba Indian Nation and their people.

Finally, if left up to Catawba, the fiscal impacts of the Catawba Gaming Facility operations would have a substantial positive impact on State government revenues, as the Tribe is committed to being a good citizen of its South Carolina community. The Miley Economic Impact Study may be viewed in its entirety at mileyandassociates.com/reports/.

The Tribe is supported in its efforts by Sky Boat, LLC, and it is working with a team of local and national attorneys. According to Chief Harris, “With the law and justice on our side and such capable supporters and advocates, the Tribe is confident our rights will be vindicated.”

Mobile phones. Orange or LG Electronics: who fails?

<fb:share-button href="http://www.no-gambling.com/blog/mobile-phones-orange-or-lg-electronics-who-fails" type ="button_count" ></fb:share-button>
<fb:like href="http://www.no-gambling.com/blog/mobile-phones-orange-or-lg-electronics-who-fails" send="false" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="350" action="like" font="verdana" colorscheme="light"></fb:like>

On August 2010 I bought from Orange Romania SA a mobile phone, LG GT405. First video that I made was with deficiency, but I didn't use the warranty to repair it.

After one year, the touch screen is blocked, so I went to the store from where I bought it asking to be repaired. I mentioned both the problems with the touch screen and the video. The warranty is for 2 years.

I received back the mobile phone, with the mention that the touch screen was replaced. No mention about video. The quality of the videos remained the same. I sent it back asking to take a look at the video.

This time I have received back the mobile phone with the mention that the video camera was replaced. I tried it, and there was no change in the quality of the films. I sent it back.

This last time, I have received it back with the mention: "unconfirmed deficiency". I made a last video with the mobile phone after I have received it, this one that I uploaded to YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-hLg2IysM0. The original file can be downloaded from http://www.sfetcu.com/MOV010.3gp.

As you can see the video, please help me to understand writing your opinion, if:

1. I am wrong, the image has a good/standard quality, and Orange has right with the mention that the deficiency is unconfirmed;

2. The image is with deficiency but this is the normal quality of the LG mobile phone videos, so it is not Orange's fault;

3. The image is with deficiency and LG Electronics manufactures mobile phones with a better quality of the videos, but Orange didn't respect my rights;

4. Other situation (please name it).

P.S. I notified both Orange and LG Electromics about this problem. Orange sent me an answer in which I am adviced to send them a request (I sent it three times!). I have no answer from LG Electronics yet.

Vilamoura

Portugal (Portuguese: Portugal), officially the Portuguese Republic (Portuguese: República Portuguesa) is a country situated in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. Portugal is the westernmost country of Europe, and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the West and South and by Spain to the North and East. The Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira are part of Portugal. The country is named after its second largest city, Porto, whose Latin name was Portus Cale.

Sport

Football (soccer) is the most popular and played sport. There are several football competitions ranging from local amateur to world-class professional level. The legendary Eusébio is still a major symbol of Portuguese football history. FIFA World Player of the Year winners Luís Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo, are among the numerous examples of other world-class football (soccer) players born in Portugal and noted worldwide. Portuguese football managers are also noteworthy, with José Mourinho, André Villas-Boas, Carlos Queiroz and Manuel José among the most renowned.

The Portuguese national teams, have titles in the FIFA World Youth Championship and in the UEFA youth championships. The main national team – Selecção Nacional – finished second in Euro 2004 (held in Portugal), reached the third place in the 1966 FIFA World Cup, and reached the fourth place in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, their best results in major competitions to date.

Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Futebol Clube do Porto, and Sporting Clube de Portugal are the largest sports clubs by popularity and by number of trophies won, often known as "os três grandes" ("the big three"). They have 12 titles won in the European UEFA club competitions, were present in many finals and have been regular contenders in the last stages almost every season. Other than football, many Portuguese sports clubs, including the "big three", compete in several other sports events with a varying level of success and popularity, these may include roller hockey, basketball, futsal, handball, and volleyball.

Portugal has a successful roller hockey team, with 15 world titles and 20 European titles, making it the country with the most wins in both competitions. The most successful Portuguese roller hockey clubs in the history of European championships are Futebol Clube do Porto, Sporting Clube de Portugal, Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Óquei de Barcelos.

The national rugby union team made a dramatic qualification into the 2007 Rugby World Cup and became the first all amateur team to qualify for the World Cup since the dawn of the professional era. The Portuguese national rugby sevens team has performed well, becoming one of the strongest teams in Europe, and proved their status as European champions in several occasions.

In athletics, the Portuguese have won a number of gold, silver and bronze medals in the European, World and Olympic Games competitions. Cycling, with Volta a Portugal being the most important race, is also a popular sports event and include professional cycling teams such as Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Boavista, Clube de Ciclismo de Tavira, and União Ciclista da Maia.

The paralympic athletes have also conquered many medals in sports like swimming, boccia and wrestling.

In equestrian sports, Portugal won the only Horseball-Pato World Championship (in 2006), achieved the third position in the First Horseball World Cup (organized in Ponte de Lima, Portugal, in 2008), and has achieved several victories in the European Working Equitation Championship.

In swimming sports, Portugal has two major sports: Swimming and Water Polo.

Northern Portugal has its own original martial art, Jogo do Pau, in which the fighters use staffs to confront one or several opponents.

Other popular sport-related recreational outdoor activities with thousands of enthusiasts nationwide include airsoft, fishing, golf, hiking, hunting and orienteering.

Today starts a new poker promotion at Red Rock Station.

From 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. daily, the high hand of that period in the poker room receives $1,000.

The hand must be at least Aces Full and you must play both cards.

If you share the same hand, you’ll split the prize.

The flier takes care to mention that this prize does not come from the jackpot drop, it’s funded entirely by Red Rock.

A nice extra, eh?
Fitzgeralds closes poker room

<fb:share-button href="http://www.no-gambling.com/node/1919" type ="button_count" ></fb:share-button>
<fb:like href="http://www.no-gambling.com/node/1919" send="false" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="350" action="like" font="verdana" colorscheme="light"></fb:like>

The Sign at (what was) the Fitzgerald Poker Room

In what we hope does not start a trend, the poker room at Fitzgeralds downtown has quietly closed.

Other poker rooms, such as Silverton, have limited their hours.

Fitz had a tough time since launching their poker room upstairs a few years ago. Only attracting 1 or 2 tables worth of players, they tried tournaments, sit-n-gos, freerolls, high hand jackpots, but in the end it didn't justify the cost and was shuttered.
