As 2005 progressed we had some grand ol' times. It all started out with the MD '05 celebration which still lives in infamy! Although we tried to relive in later years, nothing really seemed to equal that first one in 2005 at 1856. And of course one cannot forget Operation Git R' Done! when I knelt on one knee... after making the Boss run around Chicago, and asked her to marry me. It would be the start of one long Amazing Race that keeps running its blissful course even to this day.
As the summer began and progressed, we had one hell of a summer... From Brewers games and other exciting adventures to getting kicked out of bars the summer of '05 was one of those that gave and just kept on givin'!
From watching a Sox season that had its downs and some ups that would signal great things to come... to a road trip to Charm City to see the Pale Ho's beat the O's, the White Sox were definately a catalyst to that summer's festivities. And who can forget how that trip gave us the Rooster!!!
And yet while I was still trying to figure out What this all meant? We all knew it was more than a place to pick up our Bar Golf Cards.
It was what it was and what it is today... a place where once things slowed down, we could all go back and reminisce about the days of old. Yes... It was the best of times, it was the worst of times and usually good again. I wouldn't say it had anything to do with wisdom, there was plenty of foolishness. We had a big wide highway before us and No Beaks became the map to guide us back through what we may have forgotten. And of course to Git R' Done!
One day... the guy wrote something.
And then an idea was born... it almost ended up in a real tragedy!
But ALL of us survived to tell you this STORY...
It is an end to an era... or basically it's just going to be the end. Ever since the CIA or some other source sabotaged the No Beaks servers and revealed the identity of one of our closest cohorts... the site has faltered. Not to mention the disappearance of the Rooster! So... in what will the the final months of No Beaks (as far as updated posts goes...) we will be revealing past banners and hilights from the years past. Call it a review year in 2009... you know like those episodes of Seinfeld when it was just a bunch of clips of past episodes. Who knows? We may be back in the future! It's just too damn hard to keep up with this, that and the other stuff while writing about nothing. So... I'll just give you links to past writing about nothing instead! Enjoy...
Remember when this blog started and all I talked about was my days teaching... good thing we didn't start this thing until May! Anyway, here are a couple classic tales about teaching in da hood!
It may be a while since I post again. I don't know when or where it will happen again. 2008 was filled with many highs and a couple lows. There was the death of my grandfather at the start.... the birth of Frannie in the middle, the death of my grandmother near the end and sickness of a loved ones to punctuate the year. Life is like that... death, birth and sickness sometimes. Lets hope that 2009 is a little better!
