As you probably already know, this can be expensive for your automotive industry business. Before you think about hitting the self-destruct button, consider making a few small changes. Minor tweaks here and there can boost traffic, grow sales and improve profits.

Here are a few small adjustments that can have a huge payoff for your business.
<ul>
	<li><b>Talk about uniqueness</b> – The number one mistake companies make in marketing is not clearly communicating to a prospect, “Here’s why you should spend your money with me instead of the other guy.” Communicate how your business is different from others in ways that bring value to customers. It helps to separate your business from the rest of the pack.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
	<li><b>Market to existing customers </b>– Businesses can spend a fortune developing plans to market to new customers. What they don’t realize is that there are usually plenty of sales right under their noses. Invest more money in marketing to the people that are already buying from you. It helps to build customer loyalty and the return on investment is usually higher.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
	<li><b>Make relevant offers </b>– Make offers to your customers that will benefit them. Look for ways to make life easier on them with your products and services. As an example, suppose you own an auto repair shop. If your state is creating harsher emissions testing guidelines, have a promotion that offers discounted emission repair services. Also, pay attention to upcoming events and holidays in your community and create relevant promotions.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
	<li><b>Quit talking about you </b>– Stop talking about your company and its achievements. Prospects don’t care about you until they know you care about them. People have needs, desires and wants they need satisfied. Don’t talk about your excellence, talk about customer issues and how you can help them.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
	<li><b>Be Different </b>– Being different helps to separate your business from the competition. Just because everybody markets and advertises a certain way in the automotive industry doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best way. You don’t want your business to look like a carbon copy of the competition. You want to be different and stand out from the other guys so customers buy from you.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
	<li><b>Use data</b> – Quit making decisions on gut feelings, instincts or what your spouse thinks is right. Use data to drive decision-making. It’s like NASCAR. A team tests the car before race day. They look at the data, make adjustments and test again. Do it enough times and they’ll probably have a great car. The same goes for your business.</li>
