If you are a music fan of any kind you have heard of Austin City Limits music show/festival. I have seen it on my directv austin channel guide before and since I live in Austin I figure I might as well watch it. It is really interesting because they have all kinds of artists on there. People in Austin are really passionate about their music and this show really set the scene for how crazy about it they are. You can see a little bit of the town, which I think is the coolest town in the country. A lot of of my friends who live in my old home town of Atlanta will come out here to visit occasionally and they love Austin so much that one of them even decided to move here. I have started wondering if the ones who still live in Atlanta are coming here to visit me or the city of Austin itself. Whether it is me or Austin I don’t really care because I love to show off my new city to everyone that comes through.

If you were wondering what a great gift for a college student would be, then I can give you a couple of suggestions. The first thing that I would suggest would be food gift cards. These can be used to buy food that is not in a box, nor does it come from the dining hall. I’m so glad that my parents decided to go ahead and give me the gift that I was asking for. I asked for food gift cards and that’s exactly what I got! To Outback! I also have the best parents in the entire world, and they actually gave me a subscription to satellite TV, which was the best surprise in the entire world! They said they just went to direct tv deals and packages, and signed me up! Now I get to go out to eat for at least 3 meals, and then bring it home to watch all of my pre-recorded shows from my satellite TV! My husband and I have been talking about buying a new tv for years. Even though our old tv works great, we have had it for over ten years. ! I never knew a tv could last so long! All of our friends have these big televisions and sound systems that really make watching sports or a movie quite an experience. Now that most of the stations we watch have made the transition to HD, it looks like we are finally going to have to make the big purchase. When we watch some of our favorite shows I find myself wondering why the camera person is cutting off part of the scene—then I remember that we don’t have wide screen! Once we make our purchase, I think it will be time to upgrade our television service. I’ve asked several of my neighbors while out and about who they subscribe to for their service. My next door neighbor suggested I go to tvbydirect.com. I can’t wait to start looking in to what stations are available and seeing what we’ve missed with our old tv.

My daughter has been talking about moving to New York for as long as I can remember and I think she’s about to make the jump. She tells me she’s found a place in the “village” whatever that is and she’s going to rent a Uhaul next month to come get all her stuff. I love her to death but I’m really worried about her safety up there partly because I know New York is kind of dangerous but mostly because she’s never lived on her own. I told her to go to http://www.HomeSECURITY101.COM as soon as she gets up there and to call me every single night to check in and we’ll just have to see if she actually does any of that. She’s kind of naïve when it comes to how she thinks the world works so I’m sure she thinks it’s going to be easy as pie and that everyone up there is just going to love her but I’m older and I sure do know better than she does about the real world.

I watch the CMA awards every year on my satellite TV, that I got after seeing that tvbydirect.com. The country music performances are the best and this year I was really pleased with those who won. Brad Paisley won entertainer of the year and I have always been a huge fan of his. Lady Antebellum won for best group and I was so happy, because I think they are really talented.

Carrie Underwood started the evening by performing her song “Songs like This” and I could see why she won American Idol. Brad Paisley joined her playing his electric guitar and he also co-hosted the award show with her. While Carrie was singing her song Keith Urban joined the group offering audience members a thrilling moment that included several different superstar country performers.

Other performers that did an excellent job were Taylor Swift who sang her new song “Back to December” and Miranda Lambert who sang “That's the Way the World Goes Round.” I really like this song and intend to purchase it. I love that Kid Rock is a country singer now and performed his song “Born Free” on the piano.

I look forward to this award show every year and I feel that the producers do an excellent job of combining the awards with the performances. In fact it seems as though there are more music performances than awards given out.
