The bird feeder

I bought a bird feeder. I hung It on my back porch and filled It with seed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it was, as I filled it lovingly with seed.

Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards On the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table... Everywhere!

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket.

And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days The birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like It used to be ..... Quiet, serene.... And no one demanding their rights to a free meal.

Now let's see.

Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care and free education, and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen.

Then the illegal's came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor; Your child's second grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.

Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one ' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder.

Transforming the USA to USW

Yet another example of how our current administration tries as much as possible to "fundamentally transform" the United States of America to the United States of Welfare. Everyone needs to pay their fair share!

According to an article in the Wisconsin Reporter by Mr. M.D. Kittle:

A Wisconsin lawmaker says the state's "generous" suite of publicly funded benefits is a disincentive to work and an assault on hard-working, middle-class wage earners.

State Senator Alberta Darling sites a new study that shows that a Wisconsin family receiving government benefits, could qualify for nearly triple their yearly salary.

For instance, a single parent with one child earning $15,130 could conceivably receive up to $43,277 between income, benefits and the state’s refundable tax credits.

The breakdown according to the article (in a hypothetical scenario) is as follows:

BadgerCare Plus         $4,740

FoodShare Wisconsin     $3,285

WIC                       $477

Wisconsin Shares       $10,972

Section 8 Housing       $4,188

Refundable Tax Credits  $4,485

                       -------

Total                  $28,147

The Senator told the Wisconsin Reporter:

"I don't want to begrudge anybody who needs help, but these should be temporary things from the government, not a way of life. How is that going to be an incentive for work? The wagon is getting bigger and bigger, and those pulling are getting weaker and weaker. This report shows taxpayers already paying for very generous benefits. They shouldn’t have to pay for people who misuse the system too."

A lot lot of middle-class families in Wisconsin are living on $40,000 a year without the aid of public assistance. According to the latest audit, 1,175,000 Wisconsin residents are covered under BadgerCare, and about 771,000 of the beneficiaries are not disabled or elderly.

One more for the government payroll!!

We have noted before the excessive spending of our First Lady (see blog post here).

Some people will argue that our First Lady, is a public figure and she does a lot of things thus the need of aids costing the taxpayers around $1.4 million in salaries per year. Well, this is a good way to get people to work. Get them to work for the Government and their salaries will be guaranteed for life!

The question still remains from others, why do we need to pay for all of this? Our First Lady is spending our money (taxpayers) and not hers. Seriously if she wants to engage in anything, she should follow what we all do: we spend our own money and not someone else's!

However, it has always been a core belief of the socialist/communist ideology, that there are no personal freedoms, there are no individual rights. The State takes care of the people and the people follow blindly what the State tells them to do. There is no individual wealth in the end, it is all a big bucket of resources, that only the State will decide who is worthy and who not. Some that are a bit older would remember the likes of Ceausescu, who was abusing the then Communist Romania. The lavish accommodations and life were only reserved to the ones close to him, while the rest of the country was starving to death -- such is communism.

A couple of days ago, the Washington Post posted an article, where President Obama said in his speech that the First Lady should be on the payroll for all the hard work that she does.

Speaking at a campaign event in Denver on Wednesday, Mr. Obama invoked Mrs. Obama’s plight to make a point about equal pay for equal work. “I want to make sure that when she’s working, she is getting paid the same as men,” he said. “I’ve got to say, first ladies right now don’t, even though that’s a tough job.” Poor Michelle, we feel her pain.

The article is quite caustic.

Some questions:

Who asked the First Lady to do all this work? If someone asked her to do all this work and it is a Constitutionally backed appointment, yes by all means we must support this.
Why are we paying for her own personal holidays? The article barely scratches the surface, but it notes that one personal vacation with friends cost us $500,000. Is she going to pay that back?
She is more than welcome to stay in the White House, a perk that comes with President Obama's appointment and not do anything. This way she will save us a heck of a lot of money by not doing something that We The People never asked her to.

November 6th is coming. Remember who spends your money and for what!

We have reached the point where half of the people in the US are working and supporting the rest. More and more people are "encouraged" not to work, with all the welfare programs available. This strengthens the mentality of the nanny state and "the Government will take care of me".

President Obama is the first President to embrace the socialist mentality so boldly and publicly. Votes are bought by the simple fact that welfare programs are now more accessible than ever to a larger population base.

Yet another example on how the current administration and President Obama is trying to create a nanny state and completely transform our way of life with his socialist policies and agenda.

Dick Morris reports on The Hill:

Determined to destroy Bill Clinton's signature achievement, President Obama’s administration has opened a loophole in the 1996 welfare reform legislation big enough to make the law ineffective. Its work requirement - the central feature of the legislation - has been diluted beyond recognition by the bureaucrats at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

On Thursday of last week, HHS issued regulations that modified - gutted - the work requirement. Its new regulations allow the states to substitute education programs for work to get welfare benefits. The regs say that "vocational educational training or job search/readiness programs" "count as well" in meeting the basic condition that recipients work in order to receive welfare benefits.

The Congress specifically prohibited the use of education or training to fulfill the requirement. When it passed welfare reform, Congress expressly limited the authority of the secretary of HHS to waive the work requirement.

And also:

Chairman of the House Republican Study Committee Jim Jordan (Ohio) rightly protested that the action is a "blatant violation of the law," and Mitt Romney has attacked it, saying "the linkage of work and welfare is essential to prevent welfare from becoming a way of life."

Heritage noted that "in the past, state bureaucrats have attempted to define activities such as hula dancing, attending Weight Watchers, and bed rest as 'work.' These dodges were blocked by the federal work standards. Now that the Obama administration has abolished those standards, we can expect ‘work’ in the TANF [welfare] program to mean anything but work."

And, of course, welfare reform has been one of the most successful programs enacted in recent decades. Under its provisions, the welfare population has been cut in half while child poverty - until the current recession - dropped by one-third.

Thank you President Obama! Saul Alinsky must be very proud!

The Entitlement Mentality

The entitlement mentality at its best!!

Surprisingly, the video was created by Alexandra Pelosi and was first shown on Bill Maher's show.

It is really interesting to see able bodied men just not wanting to work and earn their living, but wait for the Government to provide them with all the essentials.

Then of course you have the occasional racist, who basically states "I will vote for President Obama because he is black". One has to wonder indeed, had this statement been reversed i.e. "I would vote for X because he is white", what the media outcry would be...

This is one of the ways that President Obama with his socialist regime is buying votes.

According to other blog posts, by the end of President George W. Bush's term, the First Lady at the time, Mrs. Laura Bush had a similar number of staffers. Why so many?

The official duty of the First Lady is to tend to the care and maintenance of the White House and its seemingly endless social functions. For some First Ladies, like Michelle Obama, these duties expanded by their higher than normal profile in the public life. With that came needs for speech writing, travel arrangements, media inquiries, security details etc.

Whether our First Lady wants to keep a higher profile than our President, it is her prerogative but it is not a requirement for her role in the presidency. As a result though of her wanting this high profile, the tax payers are carrying the burden by the increased staff assigned only to her.

Also, how much does it really cost to care for and maintain a building? It is after all our White House and it is not some kind of building that needs extensive care all the time; maintenance could very well be just a routine task and not performed by the First Lady.

Unfortunately the Lead by Example was not adapted by our current President and the First Lady. The above showcases this. No doubt that the people mentioned above are doing a great job and they are not just getting paid to be there. The question though has to be asked as to why do we the taxpayers have to pay for the First Lady's desires to keep a high profile and her travel schedule.

Let us not forget the recent blunders with the holiday plans of our First Family and how much it cost the taxpayers. (Basically the First Lady could not wait for a few days to fly out with the President so she went to Hawaii before him, thus incurring at least an additional $100,000).

Star Spangled Banner

I received an email from a friend about a former marine singing the Star Spangled Banner at a Tea Party and causing quite a reaction (video details below).

I thought that in these days of people living in uncertainty, the days of experiencing really high gas prices affecting everyone and with no real resolution in sight, the days of 60% of the GDP spent in entitlements, the days of our country moving further away from its traditional family values, it would be nice to post the full lyrics of our National Anthem. This should serve as a reminder on what the United States of America really stands for.

Cheap Electric Cars

Hello my friends!

This post is by no means a bash against Chevrolet and its products, it is simply stating facts. A reader sent this on an email to us and we are just presenting it as is.

With President Obama pushing towards clean energy and being indirectly and somehow directly responsible for the recent increase in gas prices (see Keystone agreement and statements in the past that in order to have clean energy we should be expected to pay $5.00 per gallon), the email below shows the current state of affairs: The government wants to bankrupt the middle class with high prices and extremely expensive alternatives to our daily transportation.

Draw your own conclusions.

Cost to operate a Chevy Volt:

Eric Bolling (Fox Business Channel's Follow the Money) test drove the Chevy Volt at the invitation of General Motors.

For four days in a row, the fully charged battery lasted only 25 miles before the Volt switched to the reserve gasoline engine.

Eric calculated the car got 30 mpg including the 25 miles it ran on the battery.

So, the range including the 9 gallon gas tank and the 16 kwh battery is approximately 270 miles.

It will take you 4 1/2 hours to drive 270 miles at 60 mph. Then add 10 hours to charge the battery and you have a total trip time of 14.5 hours.

In a typical road trip your average speed (including charging time) would be 20 mph.

ccording to General Motors, the Volt battery holds 16 kwh of electricity. It takes a full 10 hours to charge a drained battery.

The cost for the electricity to charge the Volt is never mentioned so I looked up what I pay for electricity.

I pay approximately (it varies with amount used and the seasons) $1.16 per kwh.
16 kwh x $1.16 per kwh = $18.56 to charge the battery.
$18.56 per charge divided by 25 miles = $0.74 per mile to operate the Volt using the battery.

Compare this to a similar size car with a gasoline engine only that gets 32 mpg.
$3.19 per gallon divided by 32 mpg = $0.10 per mile. (or @ 3.65/gal that equals $0.12 per mile

The gasoline powered car cost about $15,000 while the Volt costs $46,000.

So the Government wants us to pay 3 times as much, for a car that costs more that 7 times as much to run, and takes 3 times longer to drive across country. REALLY?

This of course comes from General Motors, who had a very viable solution in California a couple of decades ago called the EV1 electrical car, which helped people go to work using a very clean and cheap vehicle and then all of a sudden recalled all of them back and destroyed them with no apparent reason.

The technology exists to bring us all 100 miles to the gallon with less emissions. Greed by politicians, oil and auto companies is what keeps us from reaching this goal.

Clean energy yes! But at the cost of bankrupting the whole middle class of America? Is this what our President wants - it seems like it....

The Bread winner

I hope you all had a nice Christmas with your family and friends. Here is to health and happiness to all.

I received an email regarding entitlements and "the bread winner" of a family. You can draw your own conclusions and feel free to comment your reaction to this.

I was speaking to an emergency room physician this morning. He told me that a woman in her 20s came to the ER with her 8th pregnancy. She stated, "my momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family

He asked her to explain. She said that she can make babies and babies get money for the family.

It goes like this:

The grandma calls the Department of Child and Family Services and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children.

DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care.

The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1,500 per child per month in Illinois . Total yearly income:

$144,000 tax-free,

free healthcare (Medicaid)

a monthly card entitling her to free groceries, etc.,

a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month.

This does not even include WIC and other welfare programs.

Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the "breadwinner" for the family.

This is how the ruling class spends our tax dollars. Don't forget to pay your taxes!!! There are a lot of Breadwinners depending on you & I.

The Law is the Law

Here is an interesting email that I received regarding our American way of life and traditions

So "if" the US government determines that it is against the law for the words "under  God" to be on our money, then, so be it.

And "if" that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions.

I would  like to think that those people have the American public's best interests at heart.

But, do you know what else I'd like?

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government  buildings, can't have Christmas or Easter decorations in government buildings or on land, I don't believe the Government (Federal, State and Local) and its employees should participate in the Easter and  Christmas celebrations, which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of  American life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter. After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays. After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day.

I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services  personnel would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct."

In fact....

I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshiping God....) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day....

It is fitting that the first post of this blog is to show everyone what we mean by no entitlements and what we stand for.

I came across this video on YouTube, where the gentleman believes he is entitled to more than he has worked for, more than he has earned so far.
