Dear bigwigs who make the call on what exactly should be developed for new media promotion:

So I’m reading BoingBoing (because I’m a total tech nerd) and I see this:

BoingBoing had this to say about this amazing iPhone app:

The app functioned beautifully, with the ability to stream clips, grab wallpapers for your device, read news, and browse the complete episode index. Also: choose character likenesses as “contact images” for your iPhone — assign a face to the phone book entry of your choice. An incoming call from best friend displays Kyle or Cartman; your ~~weed dealer~~ medical marijuana dispensary is Towelie, and so on.

As Kyle would say, Holy Crap! Wallpapers? Full access to all shows? Contact images?! How cool is that? And then it hit me …

ZOMG I WANT THIS FOR THE COLBERT REPORT RIGHT FRIGGIN’ NOW!!

I’ve got a huge amount of my 8gigs on my iPhone dedicated to TCR videos and pictures. But can you imagine? Full access to ‘Colbert Report’ videos at all times? GOOD GOD PEOPLE!

WANT!!!!

So anyway, if you’re considering doing this kind of iPhone app rollout for other shows in the Comedy Central portfolio, may I humbly suggest that you do this for ‘The Colbert Report’? A ‘Daily Show’ app would be quite cool, too. Thank you.

One thing you can do, right now, that will cost virtually nothing, is to add an iPhone icon for your site. Here’s a set of instructions to help. I have one for this site and Colbert University, and they make my iPhone look mighty pretty. But the ColbertNation.com icon? Not so much.

Stephen Colbert to be on “Huckabee” tonight, 10/11, at 8p EST

According to an e-mail that was sent to people on a Fox News mailing list, Stephen Colbert will be appearing on Mike Huckabee’s show, “Huckabee” on the Fox News channel at 8p EST this evening, October 11. However I repeat this with a disclaimer - while the newsletter distributed mentions an appearance by Stephen, and ads have been seen today talking about the appearance, the only information I could find on the web mentions Geraldo Rivera as the guest. So as far as we can tell as reported by Fox News, Stephen Colbert will be on the show tonight.

I pretty much have loved every interaction between Huckabee and Stephen and think this could be a very interesting appearance. Here’s my favorite video dealing with Colbert and Huckabee - the Stephen/Jon/Conan showdown during the WGA Writer’s Strike.

Due to the fact that my hobby keeps me extremely sleep deprived, I decided to take a nap this afternoon … and accidentally slept through the show. *headdesk*

But from reports that I’ve been sent, it appears that Stephen was on via a pre-taped segment filmed at the ‘Colbert Report’ studios. He congratulated Huckabee on his new show and being one of about 9000 other pundit shows out there. Apparently there was also some kind of challenge issued to Stephen by Mike Huckabee. And that’s about it. So, if you too missed out on the show, rest easy in the fact that you really didn’t miss a whole lot.

The New York Times mentioned the effect of the election on the ratings for late night television recently. However, according to Broadcasting & Cable magazine, it looks like Comedy Central is having a very good month. South Park got its best ratings ever, and the Sarah Silverman program did exceptionally strong as well. Also:

Meanwhile, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report continued their red hot streaks, each recording their best nights ever October 8. The Daily Show drew 1.8 million P18-49 and 2.9 million total viewers, surpassing the previous record set a week ago by more than half a million viewers. The boost was likely helped by interviewee Michelle Obama, making her Daily Show debut.

The Colbert Report drew 1.2 million P18-49–the most in show history–and 2 million total.

Best show ratings ever - rock on!! Congrats to the success, Team Colbert! Here’s a clip from the most viewed “Colbert Report” ever. Please appreciate the irony in the title of this clip.
