I’ve long held the opinion that there was something amiss with the official gummint numbers, but you’ve done the crunching that I wish the MBM would have. The damnable lefties have been swinging the “gold standard” CES horsepucky like crazy, and nobody save you has challenged them. This is good ammo, and too bad it isn’t simpler so that our blue-fisted bongo-banging bretheren might understand.

Fine work. I look forward to Governor Walker’s vindication on June 5.

I specifically limited the crossover to the governor side. I don’t doubt that somewhere north of 140,000 of Weix’s votes in the lt. gov. primary are crossover votes; it’s that many of those are of the split-ticket variety.

As for the partisan splits of the April Marquette poll vs the PPP/DKos one, I see them more or less at the extremes of the likelyhood of probability in any given election. Turnout, as always, is key.

Far from the maximum, my number may actually be low. Remember, Weix did get 197,000 votes. The two counties I picked were only to show how I calculated the results. Besides, they also underperformed compared to the rest of the state. (Yes, that sounds like a personal problem.)

As for the Marquette numbers, I believe the partisan response percentages may be off in that poll, and that PPP was closer to the truth. If anything, my analysis supports the partisan makeup of the PPP poll.

This is typical of just about any president, prime minister or politician the world over. Every idea or policy is all about winning votes and becoming popular. But very seldom are any of these policies or legislation is costed or affordable, and no one wants to take the very difficult decision to actually make cut backs or raise taxes.

Some time in the next 5 years, the US will be bankrupt as a country unless we have the balls to vote for someone who will make the tough decisions and follow them through. Sadly in the US where popularity over rules sensible thought through and actionable policies rigorously followed by someone with a bit of spine, we are doomed to the bin of poverty, as history will record in years to come.

A real shame. The US could have become a great country again.

I’m waiting for a clarification on the job approval question from Charles Franklin (namely, the demographic split on who was aked the job approval questions before the economic evaluation q’s versus who was asked the economic evaluation q’s before the job approval q’s) before exploring Walker’s portion of the poll. On first blush, it’s the same as it was in January – it’s all about turnout. If it’s more-or-less even, Walker should win easily.

As for the Presidential race, it’s a bit early to project to November and say the state is a lost cause, but the best cases for Republican success can be made for Santorum and Romney. In the primary, Santorum should carry the state and 6 of the 8 Congressional districts if everything holds. It’s a complete unknown what effect a potential Gingrich drop-out after Super Tuesday would have as that was not polled for.

I had hoped to get to the Senate race today as there are some rather interesting numbers. Time, unfortunately, is not my friend.
