2016 High School Baseball Tryouts - Postponed to June 6th

NOAH Baseball will hold tryouts for the Spring 2016 high school baseball team on Saturday, June 6th @ 12:30 pm at the LaFortune Park - Legion Field located at 58th South Yale, Tulsa. Players must be homeschool and must be 9th-12th grade classification for the 2015/2016 school year.

This will be a pro-style tryout: timed 60 yard dash, position players will throw from OF and/or from IF, Pitcher and catchers will throw bullpen and finish up with batting practice.

All returning players must participate in the tryouts.

Wear baseball attire, bring your glove, bat and water.

New Players: Must print off pages 14 and 15 of the NOAH hand book, fill it out and bring to the tryouts along with a recent phyiscal from your physician before participating in the tryout.

Be at the field for warm-ups at 11:30 am

Baseball Practice Field- Update

NOAH baseball has partnered with Grace Church located at 9610 South Garnett, Broken Arrow to lease their baseball fields for this upcoming season.

The HS and JH teams will practice on the Big Field located on the NW corner of the property and the younger teams will practice on the little field located on the SW corner of property.

Tryout/Practices:

This fall we are planning a series of practices over a three week period of time culminating in a tryout. Practices will extend from September 15^th – October 3^rd. NOAH Competitive Baseball tryouts will be held on October 4^th. The exact days, times and locations will be forthcoming, so please mark your calendars and be looking for future e-mails.

Fall Ball:

As an organization, we do not plan to play in a Fall Ball league this year. If there is a dad desiring to coach such a team please contact me and I can get you our player lists. Broken Arrows Fall Baseball begins in August and ends in October. If you are interested, rosters and fees are due by mid-August.

New to NOAH or NOAH Competitive Baseball?

For those of you that are new to NOAH or competitive NOAH baseball, the above tryouts and practices are mandatory for Spring 2015 participation. The boys will be graded on baseball skills, attitude, and commitment to the schedule. Our Junior High Program is important because it transitions our boys from recreational baseball to competitive baseball. Our goal is for our 14U boys to be prepared to step into the competitive world of high school baseball when they finish junior high. To facilitate this, we encourage our 12U+ teams to play competitive baseball. This means playing in competitive leagues and occasional weekend tournaments. In some past years, there have been enough boys to field Rec. teams in addition to our competitive teams. That has not been the case the last few years and is not likely this year. Therefore, if your son wants to continue playing baseball with NOAH, he should plan to come to the fall workouts and tryout. As a part of the competitive program, you can expect to commit to at least 4 days a week to baseball (practices and games). Indoor team workouts will begin after the first of the year. Our 12U and 13U teams generally play from April-June. Our 14U team will play a “School Ball” schedule that is similar to our high school team. They will play a home and away schedule against other Junior High Baseball programs from public and private schools in the area. Games will be played in the late afternoon during the week. Their season will begin March 1 and end in May. NOAH recognizes that sport seasons do overlap. NOAH will always encourage the families to “finish-what-you-start” and never penalize or discriminate against a player/family staying committed to a sport through the end of the season when the next, upcoming season overlaps. We do, however, expect them to make every effort to attend the tryout.

Age Requirements:

There are different age considerations for eligibility. The 12U and 13U teams will play USSSA baseball. Their birthday cutoff is 4/30. As an example, if your son is 13, born Jan. 15, he must play 13U or older baseball because his birthday is prior to the deadline. If your son is 13, born July 1^st, he could play 12U baseball by USSA rule, because he falls into the next year for USSSA. School ball has a different cutoff. The cutoff is September 1^st. The cutoff is 14 unless you designate your son as an 8^th grader at 15. This provision will be discussed in more detail in the future.

NOAH is a wonderful organization with great boys and loving Christian families. It has been our joy to be a part of this organization for the past 8 years. While the increased commitment is a load for many of you, this is the natural progression that must occur to prepare the boys for playing at higher levels. We have been blessed as a family by the close friendships that we have formed through the program.

Recently, the NOAH Board of Directors has approved Darron Replogle to serve as Athletic Director for the 2014/2015 season. In addition as the AD, Darron will also serve as the Varsity Head Coach. Darron has been involved as the Baseball AD and coach for the last 8 years.

Randie Grantham will continue in his role as the Junior High Coordinator for the teams in the 6th-8th grade. Randie has been involved with NOAH for the last 8 years in several coaching roles.

Jason Kirby will continue in his role as the Elementary Coordinator for teams in the 5th grade and younger. Jason has been involved with NOAH baseball for the last 3 years.

The 2014 NOAH Varsity team hosts Beggs Demons at 6 p.m. at LaFortune Park on Thursday March 13th. All NOAH players and coaches are admitted free. The varsity team is coming off two victories over Tulsa Edison 14-3 and Bartlesville 10-6. We have an exciting team to watch this year. Come out to support the Diamond Jags!

Just a reminder that this coming Thursday March 6th is the NOAH Board meeting at which we will have Elections for 3 Board member positions.

Location: East Tulsa Bible Chapel just east of 129th on 11st Street.

Since this is a new process for all of us, I do expect there to be some "Hiccups" along the way--hopefully those will smooth out with time.

Polls will be open for VOTING from 6:30pm to 7:30pm; Each NOAH family will have one vote per family. You must vote in person.

The Board meeting will then take place from 7:30 pm on.

NEWLY ELECTED MEMBERS will begin their Service at the APRIL meeting, but are welcome to stay in orderto be "up-to-speed" on different issues.

IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE NOAH BOARD

NOAH family,

The NOAH Board has worked hard to create a way to return to the former practice of Board elections.

All families who have had a child(ren) enrolled in a sport & are in good standing over the past 12 months will have an opportunity to vote (one vote per Family).

We have 3 Board positions that will be coming Open this year. Board member Terms are for 3 years, and each year 3 positions come open to be filled.

The Schedule for this process is as follows:

January Board meeting----Nominations
February Board Meeting--Forum-some time for each candidate to address the membership and answer any questions they may have.
March Meeting---------------Elections (again, ONE ballot per family)

Since this is a new process this year, and since NOAH has grown to such great size since this was done in the past, there are sure to be glitches along he way.
Hopefully each year we can make the process smoother.

NOMINATIONS may be made in writing or email to any Board member or presented in person at the next Board meeting.
Board meetings are held the first Thursday each month (except January which will be the second, due to Holidays).

The 12U, 13U, and 14U teams will be a combined tryout.

Hey NOAH Jags!

Tryouts for the 2014 Spring 12U, 13U, and 14U competitive baseball teams will be held at New Creation Church on Saturday October 5th from 9:30-11:30 am for 12U and 11:30-1:30 pm for 13/14U.

New Creation Church is located between 81st and 91st on Olive in Broken Arrow.

Please have your sons at the fields at least 30 minutes prior to tryouts to warm-up.

It is imperative if your son desires to play for one of these teams that he attend this tryout. Boys will need to be outfitted in full baseball gear including pants, cap/batting helmet, bat, glove, cup and cleats. They will be graded on fielding, throwing, mechanics, pitching, hitting, and base-running. Teams spots will be determined based on skill level and team need as determined by the coaches, coordinator and AD.

The Junior High Baseball Program is designed to prepare boys to play at the high school level for NOAH. As such, these teams will be asked to play in leagues that match or exceed their skill level and to play in one or two weekend tournaments per month during the months of March-June. We will be playing in the Broken Arrow leagues at the Indian Springs Sports Complex for our league games and throughout the Tulsa area for our tournaments. The head coach will make the final determination on when and where the weekend tournaments will be played. The 14U team may also play some games against school teams early in the season. Practices will be held at New Creations Church, 2-4 times a week, prior to the start of league play and reduced somewhat afterwards depending upon game and tournament schedules. Practices will begin, likely indoors, as early as February. The cost to play on the competitive teams will be elevated compared to recreation baseball. Fees will include league, tournament, player, and uniform. Exact costs will be determined as the season draws nearer. These teams will play 30+ games over the course of the spring season.

Please get the word out to all of your homeschooling family and friends that have boys that may be interested in playing for NOAH. In the past, players have approached us too late to be added to the roster, because they didn’t know about the tryouts. We welcome homeschool competitive baseball players that have played for other teams. Come and try out! It is a great opportunity to become familiar with the coaches and families that will likely be your teammates should you play for NOAH in high school. If you are a rec. player, please don’t let the game schedule frighten you, it is a natural progression in number of games and practices. While roster spots are not guaranteed, NOAH coaches are committed to raising the level of play of committed boys of all levels who make their teams.

It has been a blessing to have two boys in the NOAH baseball program. The NOAH boys are great and the parents are second to none. We have been blessed as a family to experience a God-honoring environment in the stands, in the dugout and on the field. Some of the parents of my son’s teammates are among our best friends.

HWSA - Jags place 3rd in Div III

HWSA Recap:

Monday Apr 29th:
NOAH Jaguars opened pool play against defending HWSA Champions, Ft. Worth THESA Riders on Monday. THESA broke the game open with an 8-run 5th inning to cruise to a 12-0 win.

Tuesday Apr 30th:
In the second pool play game, the Jags battled with Spring, TX Mustangs but lost 5-3. The second loss of pool play dropped the Jags to the Division III brackets.

Wednesday - Off day

Thursday May 2nd:
Jags beat the Waukesha, WI Saints 5-2 in the first round of the Division III brackets behind the pitching of Wes Dominquez and Josh Ferguson. Austin Dillingham led the offensive attack with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

Friday May 3rd:
NOAH played the Charlotte, NC Stampede in the semi-finals. In close game, the Stampede put up 3 runs in the 5th inning to hand the Jags a 6-2 loss. Note: Charlotte went on to win the Div III Championship.

Saturday May 4th:
NOAH Jaguars faced the 8-time HWSA Champs Atlanta Barons in the 3rd place game. Jags cruise to a 7-2 win behind the pitching of Brendan Jost, Wes Dominguez and Josh Ferguson.

UPDATE from HWSA in Auburndale, Florida

The NOAH Jaguars lost both pool play games to Ft. Worth Riders 12-0 and Spring, Tx 5-3. The Jaguars were placed in Division III for bracket play.

The Jags played the Saints fromWaukesha, WI on Thursday in the quarter-finals. The Jags opened up a 3-0 lead on a 2 RBI double by Austin Dillingham. Bear Burka and Ben Beaver added RBIs to lead the Jags to a 5-2 win. Wes Dominguez and Josh Ferguson pitched.

Next up: Jags play Friday at 9:00 a.m. in the semi-finals vs Charlotte, NC.

Beggs Tournament -5th Place

Varsity Jags beat 3A Okmulgee Bulldogs 15-7 in the Consolation Finals in the Beggs Tournament. Scott Koszykowski and Braden Heaps each had two hits a piece. Ben Beaver picked up the win on the mound.

The Jags lost the opening round game to 3A Morris 9-4. NOAH then beat Tulsa Edison JV 10-0 to get to the consolation finals.

Morris won the Beggs Classic beating Beggs 8-3 in the finals. Cushing beat Hilldale 2-1 in the 3rd place game.

Jaguars (4-14) will be riding a 2 game win streak when they go to 6A #7 Sand Springs on Monday at 4:30 p.m. with the JV game afterwards. Come out to support the Jags!

We are having a coin drop fundraiser so please drop some loose change in the bucket. Also, the high school team will be selling kettle corn to help with fundraising.

Varsity will play first game starting at 4:30 p.m. The JV will play afterwards.

Uniform includes the following items: Royal blue belt, uniform pants, Royal blue jersey, Cap, Team baseballs

Players are required to provide their own glove, bat and cleats.

2013 Coaches
Coaches must register with BAYB online no later than Jan 30th.

Elementary Baseball Information Meeting

When: Saturday, Jan 5, 2013
Where: Tulsa Bible Church - Gym 5838 S. Sheridan Rd
Time: 10-11 a.m. (Be there 10 minutes early)

It's that time to think about getting ready for the Spring season. We will have an information meeting on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 from 10-11 a.m. for homeschool players interested in playing recreational baseball this upcoming Spring. All teams will play at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow.

Recreational teams will be formed for players 12 and under as of April 30, 2013.

We will have information on how to sign-up, player fees, uniform fees, practice schedule and fundraising opportunities. The league games will start April 1st.

In the meantime, get in touch with your friends and encourage them to attend the information meeting to learn more about NOAH baseball.
