I was reading the British online paper guardian.co.uk this morning, and stumbled on an article about Australia. I grew curious about what the Brits reported about Australia these days and looked for more articles.

First article was about 6,000 wild camels that run amok in search of water in a town in NT. Then a video about thirsty kangaroos that invade a town in Qld every night. Then another one about locust swarms in NSW this time.

The last article I read before heading back to the NoFlies blog is about Australia’s strategy for Copenhagen Climate Conference, and how Australia’s effort to cut their emissions are “smoke and mirrors”. A few Australian world records are cited in the article: Australia has the highest per capita emissions of greenhouse gases of any major developed nation; Australia is the world’s hottest and driest continent; Australia is the world’s largest exporter of coal.

Giant Seagull on Channel 9

Channel Nine is using a live camera backdrop for the anchor. A seagull happened to stroll across the scene right in the middle of the news report. The gull being very close to the camera, it looked huge onscreen.

Her Morning Elegance Stop-Motion

I just stumbled upon this video on YouTube. These kind of stop-motion (also called frame-by-frame) videos require a lot of work; this one is made of about 3225 still photos using a camera hanging from the ceiling. It took 4 weeks before shooting to create an animated computer generated storyboard for the video, with 3d dummies for the characters. It took only 2 days of shooting for the live actors on set to re-create the 3.5 minutes computer sequence, frame by frame.

Oren Lavie wrote the song and directed the video. Enjoy!

It was on all news websites yesterday:

Overnight, the series of signs that mysteriously appeared along a road in Sydney’s Northern Beaches have prompted a huge online debate over whether they’re the work of the city’s cruellest love rat – or simply a massive hoax.

A woman named Jennifer is at the centre of the mystery after she was apparently unceremoniously dumped via telegraph pole on the area’s busiest road.

The cruel dump happens to be a prank played by a couple of drunk youngsters. Only thing is, Jennifer does exist, and she’s probably not happy about the publicity…
