I always have earache in the aeroplane when it was about to land so I am finding ways to avoid it. So can these noise cancelling headphones like Bose Quietcomfort 3 avoid the earache?

No. The earache is because of the change in pressure, which the headphones will not help.

Try chewing gum or yawning as you land. These open the Eustacian tubes that connect your ears to your throat, which allows the pressure to equalize. If you yawn, you’ll hear a clicking in your ears as the tubes open. Practice just starting to yawn until you can open the tubes directly. This is what divers do to deal with the pressure change.

I know the original Bose QC2 headphones had really really serious durability issues with the connector joint between the head strap and the ear pieces which for many people broke off and made the headphones unusable. I also know that Bose addressed the problem eventually and came out with their new version of the QC2 headphones with a reinforced piece that didn’t break so easily. Does anyone know how to tell which version I have because I just bought a pair of these off someone on craigslist for a steal, but I’d like to know which version i have. He said that he bought them between 1 and 2 years ago. Thanks alot

So, I like to bike around a lot for hours daily. I take my MP3 player with earbuds.
The volume is not loud nor close to it, and they are not noise cancelling or low bass response earbuds.
Is this damaging my hearing?

I, like yourself, like to use earbuds when walking or exercising at the gym. Research shows the earbuds can have long-term hearing damage because even though your volume is low, the sound is originating very close to your ear, allowing more vibration to your ear drum than listening to a song at the same volume on the radio. To be truthful, any type of headphones or prolonged radio listening-to has this effect. I recommend lowering the amount that you use the earbuds if you can. Also, this is a side note, make sure to wipe the earbuds frequently with alcohol or disinfectant to prevent ear infection. Happy cycling!
