Cambodia recorded a trade deficit equivalent to 1.73 billion U.S. 
dollars in 2011, according to the statistics of the Commerce Ministry on
 Wednesday.

It showed that the country's total import and export value was 11.47 
billion U.S. dollars last year, up 39 percent from 8.26 billion U.S. 
dollars in a year earlier.

The imports last year jumped by 38 percent

Neither disputes over the South China Sea nor the Cambodian-Thai 
border will be on the agenda for Asean defense ministers, a top 
Cambodian official said Tuesday.


Speaking at an Asean strategy forum in Phnom Penh, Defense Minister

Flooding disasterTorrential
 rainfall during this year’s rainy season caused the worst flooding to 
hit the Kingdom in decades. Flooding began in the upper Mekong in 
mid-July then expanded to provinces around the Tonle Sap Lake in 
September and October. About 250 people were killed, more than 250,000

In September 2000, the United Nations approved the Millennium 
Declaration. It set the stage for the Millennium Development Goals, 
which are due to be achieved in 2015. But have the MDGs brought 
meaningful results or are they just a first step?
